The United States, we’re told, is increasingly a house divided. Conservatives and progressives are so alienated from each other that conversation is virtually impossible. But are we really as divided as we’re led to believe? As we begin what promises to be a pivotal election season, we're kicking off a new series about how we form our political beliefs. We're calling it "US 2.0." We begin with psychologist Kurt Gray, who studies how we think about our political allies and opponents — and how these insights can help us to chart a new path forward.
Have you tried to talk with someone who disagrees with you about politics? Have you found effective ways to get through? If you’d be willing to share your stories with the Hidden Brain audience, along with any questions you have for Kurt Gray, please record a voice memo and email it to us at ideas@hiddenbrain.org. Use the subject line “politics.” And thanks!
Do you feel that you struggle with being authentic?
Do you want to overcome the judgment of society's perceptions of what it means to be authentic?
Today, Jay sits down with Lil Nas X. Lil Nas X is a 24-year-old award-winning rapper, singer, songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. Dubbed “an internationally recognized phenomenon” by Billboard, Lil Nas X rose to fame in 2019 when he released “Old Town Road” and shattered genre norms, disrupted the charts and went viral worldwide. After a highly successful EP and several multi-platinum songs, Nas went on to release his critically acclaimed and GRAMMY-nominated debut album Montero in September 2021, which featured the culture-shifting 6x Platinum hit “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)”. Following the release of Lil Nas X’s latest single “J CHRIST”, his beautiful new documentary, Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero, debuted this weekend on HBO and is available to stream now on Max.
In this vulnerable episode Lil Nas X shares his story from being a shy kid in Atlanta Georgie to achieving his wildest dreams. Lil Nas X has proven that there is power of self-awareness and embracing your true identity, even in the face of loss and grief. He shares with us personal stories that have shaped him into the person he is today, and the person he is working on becoming.
The conversation navigates through fears, the misunderstood aspects of Lil Nas' message in his latest single, and the importance of cherishing time with family. They discuss spirituality, the quest for genuine love, dealing with a lack of control, and overcoming inner voices.
In this interview, you'll learn:
Tune in for a thought-provoking and heartwarming conversation that validates our humanness, flaws and strengths, and our ability to overcome difficult times.

Allyson Felix is the most decorated American track and field athlete of all time. She’s also a mother. Those two identities came into conflict in 2018 when negotiating a contract renewal with her shoe sponsor, Nike.
Ultimately, Allyson broke ties with Nike because the new contract presented a significant pay cut and lacked adequate maternal protections. After struggling to find a new shoe sponsor, Allyson and her brother/agent, Wes, decided to take matters into their own hands and start their own shoe company, Saysh.
This week on How I Built This Lab, Allyson and Wes talk with Guy about their journey to the top of the track and field world, the decision to leave Nike, and how they built the iconic shoe that Allyson wore during her gold medal performance at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Plus, why most name brand shoes aren’t designed for women’s feet, and how Saysh is working to change that.

Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and Dr. Steve Templeton discuss his recent publication, “Fear of a Microbial Planet: How a Germophobic Safety Culture Makes Us Less Safe.” They break down the “discussed response” of the behavioral immune system, the pathogenic treatment of people during the COVID pandemic, the shift toward perceptual safety over common good, the programmatically induced fear that censors open discussion around these topics even now, and the impenetrability of those afraid, even when met with fundamental truths.
Dr. Steve Templeton is the Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Indiana University School of Medicine Terre Haute, formerly CDC/NIOSH. Dr. Templeton is the author of the new publication, “Fear of a Microbial Planet: How a Germophobic Safety Culture Makes Us Less Safe.” The book examines pandemic responses, cultural and administrative, weighing historic examples against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Welcome to The Mindset Mentor Podcast where today…
Today we’re going there. We’re going to talk about stopping the BS that goes on in your mind all day long and stops you from living the life you truly want.
There’s a tip my mentor gave me a couple years ago that is so ridiculously simple that helps so much when you notice you’re caught up in all the BS and I’m going to share that with you too.
So many people acknowledge that they’re not showing up as the person they need to be. Whether it’s fear, low confidence, etc… it’s all a bunch of BS that goes on in their mind all day long.
Here’s the secret to overcoming your biggest fear- none of it is real!
You can’t overcome something that does not exist. What you can do is stop paying attention to the problems that you are creating. Figment of your imagination.
The only problems you have are the problems you’re creating in your own mind. In that sense, you are the one holding yourself back from creating the life that you want.
But not anymore. Not after this episode.
If you like this episode…
Make sure to share it with someone that needs to hear it and help us get the message out there so that together we can help make people’s lives better and make the world a better place.
And I almost forgot!!
I’m still offering out this special gift I put together just for everyone who listens to this podcast.
It will actually help you start experiencing transformation in your life immediately.
So while you’re doing your best to grow through what you go through..
Why not at least try out journaling?

Visit this link: ( http://www.mindsetmentorjournal.com/mmu-video-training/ ) for a video I made just for you to help you get started on your transformation journey AND you’ll also get 30 days of written journal prompts that if followed, will help you get so much closer to building a life with more freedom than you can even imagine.
