Designing shoes for women's feet with Wes and Allyson Felix of Saysh (2023)

Designing shoes for women's feet with Wes and Allyson Felix of Saysh (2023)

Allyson Felix is the most decorated American track and field athlete of all time. She’s also a mother. Those two identities came into conflict in 2018 when negotiating a contract renewal with her shoe sponsor, Nike.

Ultimately, Allyson broke ties with Nike because the new contract presented a significant pay cut and lacked adequate maternal protections. After struggling to find a new shoe sponsor, Allyson and her brother/agent, Wes, decided to take matters into their own hands and start their own shoe company, Saysh.

This week on How I Built This Lab, Allyson and Wes talk with Guy about their journey to the top of the track and field world, the decision to leave Nike, and how they built the iconic shoe that Allyson wore during her gold medal performance at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Plus, why most name brand shoes aren’t designed for women’s feet, and how Saysh is working to change that.

The Secret of Taking Action: How to Build Lasting Habits

The Secret of Taking Action: How to Build Lasting Habits

Today, we're diving deep into a topic that's all about helping you achieve your goals and build habits that last.

I know you're here because you're on a journey of self-improvement, and I'm here to guide you through it. But hey, I'm not your typical motivational speaker. My goal is to help you truly understand yourself, your brain, and those sneaky ways you hold yourself back. And then, we'll talk about how to fall head over heels in love with the action-taking process.

You see, there are two ways to chase those dreams. First, you can go all-out, put your head down, and push yourself to the limit. It's what most of us do, right? But sometimes, that can lead to burnout.

The second approach? That's where the magic happens. It's about falling in love with the journey itself. We'll explore the dopamine reward system, a game-changer when it comes to motivating yourself and making those actions stick.

Dopamine is your buddy in this process, and you can learn to release it whenever you want. We'll chat about how to celebrate those small wins along the way, making your journey enjoyable and rewarding.

Successful people you admire? They're not just in it for the money. They're in love with the daily grind, the process, and that's what keeps them going. We'll break it all down for you.

So, if you're ready to level up your mindset and make your goals a reality, hit that play button and let's dive in.

And if you're hungry for more, don't forget to check out my book and that awesome free class over at robdial.com/book. Plus, you might just snag some cool cash and prizes!

Remember, your mission is to brighten someone else's day, and I appreciate you being part of our amazing community. Enjoy the episode! 🚀

    The Problem with All-or-Nothing Thinking

    The Problem with All-or-Nothing Thinking

When it comes to weight loss and getting healthy and fit, are there so many things you could be doing, or you think you should be doing, that you wind up feeling overwhelmed?

Do you try to overhaul your life? Perhaps choosing two or three habits to work on at once?

Or maybe because you think you've got to do it exactly right... that you really can't afford to make a mistake, so then you wind up doing nothing.

Well, what we've got here is some overwhelm, with a dose of perfectionism, and maybe a hint of overthinking.

All of these all keep us from taking consistent action, which is the key to getting the results you want.

And they are all forms of all-or-nothing thinking.

In this episode, I'm going to help you identify when all-or-nothing thinking is happening. Mind you, it can be really sneaky. I'm also going to be explaining why it makes change much harder, and how you can overcome it.

The Human Factor Podcast Ep 24: The Art of Attraction

The Human Factor Podcast Ep 24: The Art of Attraction
It has been over one hundred years since the job interview was started by the inventor of the alkaline storage battery, movie camera and the lightbulb – that person was Thomas Edison. In 1921, Edison was a genius and frustrated with the university graduates who would ask him for a job, and so he developed a general knowledge test. The questions were a mix of literature, history, geography, with some related directly to the job available. The Smithsonian Institute reports only 7 percent of applicants could pass the 146 question quiz. Newspapers of the time reported Edison’s new method of eliminating candidates, which led to more companies using questionnaires. Eventually, the process evolved into the system most firms use today. As we head further into this decade, I’m sure aspects of what Edison did 100 years ago will still exist in some processes today, but the whole process of sourcing, attracting and actually recruiting someone is very different today and much debate centres on who actually is in control of the process today – the candidate or the employer. The attraction and retention of talent has always been a perennial challenge, but data is telling us that it is getting harder. Taking into account demographic changes, an aging workforce, the impact of Brexit, there are more open positions today than required candidates. When we also consider more people are choosing to work for themselves, we can see why attraction and retention is getting harder. Is it more than that? Has consumerisation also changed how we look at the process, expecting a seamless, frictionless process, not a long, drawn-out clunky process. It’s clear there is much to debate. We are delighted to be joined by our guest today who has metaphorically and literally brought “A Fresh Perspective” to the world of attraction and recruitment and will be sharing her thoughts and insights on what has changed, what is working and what needs to be different in the future of the most competitive marketplace in the world.

I'm 100% serious. The hiring of Agile Coaches is on the rise but why spend the money and bring people from outside your organization when you can have someone inside your organization take an Agile class or two?  Even though I'm a very seasoned Agile Coach, I'm not going to tell you that it's not impossible but I do want to give you a little heads-up on what to expect and also how to avoid some common misconceptions.  If you heed these warnings then you may find your intended agile implementation and/or transformation successful and you are welcome to give this podcast credit for it.   I'm eager to hear if anyone has been able to implement agile without coaches?
