The Secret of Taking Action: How to Build Lasting Habits

The Secret of Taking Action: How to Build Lasting Habits

Today, we're diving deep into a topic that's all about helping you achieve your goals and build habits that last.

I know you're here because you're on a journey of self-improvement, and I'm here to guide you through it. But hey, I'm not your typical motivational speaker. My goal is to help you truly understand yourself, your brain, and those sneaky ways you hold yourself back. And then, we'll talk about how to fall head over heels in love with the action-taking process.

You see, there are two ways to chase those dreams. First, you can go all-out, put your head down, and push yourself to the limit. It's what most of us do, right? But sometimes, that can lead to burnout.

The second approach? That's where the magic happens. It's about falling in love with the journey itself. We'll explore the dopamine reward system, a game-changer when it comes to motivating yourself and making those actions stick.

Dopamine is your buddy in this process, and you can learn to release it whenever you want. We'll chat about how to celebrate those small wins along the way, making your journey enjoyable and rewarding.

Successful people you admire? They're not just in it for the money. They're in love with the daily grind, the process, and that's what keeps them going. We'll break it all down for you.

So, if you're ready to level up your mindset and make your goals a reality, hit that play button and let's dive in.

And if you're hungry for more, don't forget to check out my book and that awesome free class over at robdial.com/book. Plus, you might just snag some cool cash and prizes!

    Making Incremental Progress

    Making Incremental Progress

This week, we are taking one step forward at a time, day by day, and letting it add up over time, in order to take huge goals and changes, and turn them into bite sized, completely doable bits. Here are the 8 ideas we discuss:

    1) Make it something you can do daily! Keep up that regular chain, make it a pattern, and you won't have to do much each day to see progress.
    2) Identify your minimum possible action, something to keep you in the game, that you are able to accomplish even on your worst days.
     3) Track your progress!
    4) Be clear on what you actually want, not just what you don't want. Visualize the end goal, as though you are seeing yourself in a movie.
    5) Find your key leverage moments, both for applying action and tracking results.
    6) Make sure you are focused on the aspects where you have some control.
    7) Be willing to start small and be a beginner.
    8) Get help when you need it, to get some momentum going to build your capacity.

Apply these ideas to a goal or change you are ready to start taking steps forward on today.

    197 - Forming our Minds

    197 - Forming our Minds

Our minds are formed DAILY... but many of us don't think about it. What we watch, who we hang around, the music we listen to all play a part in who we are and how our minds are shaped. The question is, are we forming our minds the way Christ would want them to be formed?

What exactly is shaping our minds? How do we control and form our thoughts? What are practical ways we can allow God to form us more than the world? What is a vision of a Christlike-formed mind? We answer all these questions and more.

    Time: Navigating Midlife with Intentionality

    Time: Navigating Midlife with Intentionality

Have you ever heard the phrase, "The days are long but the years are short"?
This feels especially true in midlife. As we embrace our midlife awakening, we must live intentionally and realize that time is a gift. While we can't create more time, we can make the most of the time we DO have by living fully.
In this episode of the Midlife Mommas, we get a little philosophical about time. We are still our funny selves, we dive into the deep meaning of time and explore topics like:

    • Time as currency
    • How do you "multiply" time?
    • How do you budget time?
    • What is your time mission statement?
    • How do you base your future not on your past, but on your intentions?

00:02:33 Time expands and contracts, but it's fleeting.
00:05:19 Agreeing, limited time, Hawaii, volcanic lava.
00:07:15 "Do you have a minute? Time matters."
00:12:23 Cam taught me to value sleep.
00:16:12 Limit unhealthy relationships, take back your power.
00:18:37 "Managing time and setting weekly goals intentionally."
00:20:43 Recognizing the importance of reaching out to others.
00:25:23 Learned to say no, prioritize self-care.
00:26:58 Choose love over fear for better outcomes.

Let's Spring Clean Your Energy Zappers!

Let's Spring Clean Your Energy Zappers!

This month in the LBD Collective we took the month to press pause, reflect back on the first quarter of 2023, and set our intentions for the next three months to come. We also did a bit of "spring cleaning" during our Discovery Night - the evening we come together for a brief meditation, sharing what's new and good in our lives, then we journal for our 30 minutes with personally curated prompts, and finally we wrap it all up with a group discussion!

It was really neat in April, because there was one prompt in particular that really spoke to our hearts, and it reads, "What are the top three energy zappers in your life at the moment? Is it possible to release or minimize them? What action steps would that require you follow through?"

So today we're going to identify your own personal energy zappers and think through how you might "spring clean" those too!

Poverty: A Gift or a Curse?

Poverty: A Gift or a Curse?

In the season two premiere of Cautious Coffee, Austin and DeRae delve into the complex topic of poverty. With over 1.2 billion people rising out of extreme poverty since 1990, the discussion centers on whether poverty can be seen as a blessing or an automatic curse.

The duo shares their own experiences of living below the poverty line in the United States and explore the ways in which poverty manifests differently around the world. They touch on the issue of global inequity, energy security, and examine how individuals have adopted a victor mentality to rise from poverty and even wear it as a badge of honor.

This episode offers a thoughtful and nuanced exploration of the complex issues surrounding poverty and the ways in which individuals and societies respond to it.
