hroughout the course of the American Revolution, the United States Army tended to suffer defeat after defeat. But one of the brilliant aspects of Commander-in-Chief George Washington was his ability to take punches and keep on moving. While the Brits continually battered the American army year after year, they could never deal a knockout blow. One of the especially brutal skirmishes came in the Fall of 1777 in the fields of Southeastern Pennsylvania, in what would be known as the Battle of the Brandywine.

Some believe that since God is not clearly named in the Constitution, that it is a humanistic document. However, God's fingerprints are all over it.

Our Founders, who created the God-affirming Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, meant for them to work together. 1) The two documents helped unite the fledgling nation. 2) The Declaration outlines why the United States was created, and the Constitution then outlines how the United States government would be created. 3) The Declaration describes fundamental God-given liberties, but the Constitution (particularly in the Bill of Rights) creates the legal framework to protect these liberties.

In the United States, there are many geographical landmarks that provide boundary markers for states and regions. One of these is a massive mountain range that runs like a backbone north to south through the eastern section of the nation. It played a critical role in the development of American state boundaries in the first 100 years of the nation’s existence. Running from the state of Maine through the Deep South, these are the Appalachian Mountains.

A calm, calculated man who governed the nation during the raucous and pompous Roaring 20’s era. Perhaps his cool, quiet demeanor was the check and balance the nation needed during such a time. He was the 30th U.S. President, Calvin Coolidge.

On December 7, 1941, Hawai’i was hit by one of the most unexpected military assaults in modern warfare. More than 300 Japanese fighter planes and dive bombers attacked the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, killing 2,400 people and plunging the United States into World War II. After the assault, many of Hawai’i’s nearly 160,000 residents of Japanese descent were viewed with suspicion and fear. But eventually thousands of Japanese-American men enlisted in the Army and went on to fight with valor. Their heroism would in time contribute to Hawai’i becoming America’s 50th state.
