The skills supercommunicators use, which you can learn too

What does working for the CIA, navigating hot button topics and talking to teenagers all have in common? They're situations that supercommunicators excel at.

Today, we explore how you can become a supercommunicator too.

In this episode we touch on a previous story, Introversion vs Extroversion. If you enjoyed this episode, you'll love that one too.

3 Mental Models from Tennis You Can Use To Build a Business | Ep. 424

    Back with some real talk.

Let me share the lessons I've picked up from my tennis sessions with Brandon.

First up, it's all about high percentage moves. Winners are cool, but minimizing errors is the real deal.

In business and life...play it safe, play it consistent.

Next, remember: improvement goes down in practice, not the game. Distinguish when you're practicing and when you're performing. Balance both to level up.

Lastly, emotions matter. In tennis and everywhere else, mastering your emotions is the key to owning the game.

Play to win the long game.

    3 Productivity Apps I Can't Live Without | Ep. 410

I'm no guru, but simplicity is key for me.

Forget fancy apps...it's a notebook, Sharpie, and three essential ones on my phone.

Brain FM is my distraction antidote, Superhuman keeps my inbox at zero, and my phone's stopwatch, paired with a Pomodoro timer, boosts focus.

No power user tools here – just practical, repeatable systems.

At the end of the day, productivity isn't about complexity; it's about finding what works for you.

This is the WEIRDEST Way to Live Longer | Ep. 349

Just stumbled onto an intriguing study in a book by Peter Attia about aging well.

Ever heard of the "decrepit decade"? That phase where things start to get a bit tougher physically and mentally?

Well, this study I found delves into how to dodge that phase and live life to the fullest until the very end.

It dives into how our grip strength might affect our brain health as we age.

Turns out, there's a strong link between the two.

So, keep those hands strong, and you might just keep your mind sharper for the long run.

    That's Not My Job | Ep. 334

This episode is for everyone looking to progress in their job or business. I learned a tough lesson…saying "That's not my job" hurt my career growth.

It's more than just missing out on promotions. When we shirk responsibility, we limit our growth and impact.

I realized this in my own business when I refused tasks that needed attention. The team's morale suffered.

If you truly want to grow in your job or business, you've got to be willing to roll up your sleeves and pitch in wherever needed.

Not for praise, but because it's the right thing to do.

When you consistently show up and go beyond what's expected, it pays off in more ways than one.

011 Love, Lust, and Leaving: When to Throw in the Towel in Relationships

011 Love, Lust, and Leaving: When to Throw in the Towel in Relationships

Hello, wonderful listeners! Dimple Thakrar here, and I'm thrilled to have you join me for another episode of Beyond the Words. Today, we're delving into a profound topic that has been resonating with many women around me - the question of when is enough, enough in a relationship.

In this episode, I share my personal journey of a 33-year relationship, the highs, the lows, and the constant quest for deeper connection and romance. The burning question that keeps surfacing is, "When do you know it's time to throw in the towel and leave?"

    Key Takeaways:

    1. Understanding the Dynamics: I reflect on the collective urge among women to reassess their relationships, questioning whether they are truly living their best lives with their companions.

    2. The Journey of Self-Discovery: Sharing my own experiences, I highlight the importance of self-reflection and the realisation that personal growth and happiness play a significant role in a relationship.

    3. Masculine and Feminine Energies: A crucial aspect is recognizing the differences between masculine and feminine energies, understanding that men and women operate with distinct frameworks.

    4. Communication and Directness: Emphasising the need for clear communication, I discuss the pitfalls of assuming that our partners understand our needs without direct articulation.

    5. Romancing Yourself: A powerful concept emerges - romancing oneself. I recount a personal retreat and how showing our partners what we need often starts with being that for ourselves.

    6. Deal Breakers and Setting Boundaries: The episode explores the importance of setting clear boundaries, recognizing deal-breakers, and being honest about the consequences if those needs are not met.

    7. Taking Action: Whether staying or leaving, the key lies in taking action aligned with one's standards and principles. It's about standing firm in what you deserve.

In conclusion, I invite you to trust your intuition, observe repeated red flags, and ask yourself if you're showing up as the best version of yourself. Relationships evolve, and so do our needs. Appreciate the effort your partner puts in and voice your happiness to create a positive cycle.

010 Cracking the Code: Understanding the Primal Needs in Relationships

010 Cracking the Code: Understanding the Primal Needs in Relationships

"Welcome to "Beyond the Words" with Dimple Thakrar!

In this episode, I delve into a topic that's close to my heart: the dynamics of relationships. I recently shared a post on Facebook that gained a lot of traction—about why so many relationships face challenges. It's not about a lack of love or communication, but rather, a misunderstanding of each other's primary needs.

Understanding the Three P's: Procreate, Provide, Protect
For men, their primal focus revolves around three key aspects: procreation, providing, and protecting. These instincts are deeply embedded in their genetic makeup. They're wired to procreate, ensuring the continuation of their genetic material. This innate drive is at the forefront of their minds, influencing their actions and decisions.

Providing and protecting come next. It's not just about financial support, but emotional care too. Creating an environment of safety and stability for their partner is paramount. Understanding these fundamental needs can shed light on why men act the way they do in various situations.

The Essence of Women: Seen, Heard, and Safe
For women, the core desires are to be seen and heard. Feeling heard means more than just being listened to—it's about feeling truly understood and valued. When a woman feels seen and heard, she experiences a profound sense of safety. This primal need for safety is a driving force in her life.

This understanding offers a fresh perspective on the dynamics of intimate relationships. When we grasp these fundamental needs, it becomes easier to navigate the complexities of a partnership.

    Creating Lasting Happiness
Gentlemen, here's the key to a happy and thriving relationship: daily, consistent, focused time with your partner. Plan those date nights and communicate them in advance. Embrace affection generously, allowing your partner to feel cherished and valued. Remember, it's not just about doing these things occasionally—it's about making them a consistent part of your relationship.

Remember, a good woman will stand by you, even during challenging times. However, it's crucial to heed the signs. When she stops asking, when she seems disconnected, that's the moment to take action.

Thank you for joining me on this journey towards deeper understanding and more fulfilling relationships. Remember, small consistent efforts can lead to monumental transformations in your partnership. Stay tuned for more insights and practical tips in the episodes to come.

Stop Doing These Tasks | Ep. 307

Stop Doing These Tasks | Ep. 307

Here's a simple way to turbocharge your productivity.

Think of your tasks as $10 tasks or $1,000 tasks.

$10 tasks are things you could pay someone $10 an hour to do, like laundry or dishes.

$1,000 tasks are high-value, unique to you, like content creation.

Now, consider your aspirational hourly rate.

Focus on tasks that match that value. It's a game-changer for your to-do list.

My New Favorite Productivity Tool | Ep. 304

My New Favorite Productivity Tool | Ep. 304

Back in my late twenties, I dived into productivity systems. I started with the classics, reading books, watching YouTube videos.

Work wasn't exactly thrilling as I had a love-hate relationship with it while working those W-2 jobs.

That all changed when I started my first business. I viewed work differently…it was a path to living my best life.

Here's the thing: your tools and systems must evolve.

I found myself picking up new tools, using them for a while, and then feeling they no longer worked.

Why? Because I was evolving as a person. The systems that served me in the past might not help me reach my current goals.

I used to beat myself up over it, but then I realized it's natural. So, I gave myself permission to keep exploring.

Remember, your tools should serve you, not the other way around. Keep experimenting and evolving.

    I Read 100 Books On Money... Here's What I Learned | Ep. 301

    I Read 100 Books On Money... Here's What I Learned | Ep. 301

Today, I'm diving into three invaluable lessons I've learned from reading stacks of money, finance, and investment books.

Why am I so into books, you ask? Well, it's because they make you think. They require your full attention.

    1. Money is a game.

You need to understand the rules, and the first rule is to stop attaching your self-worth to your net worth. Money is a tool, not a measure of your goodness or badness.

    2. To win the money game, you've got to understand the rules.

Yet, financial literacy is often missing from our education. So, take control of your finances. Track your daily spending and earnings.

    3. With money, you can only spend it, save it, or invest it.

Saving alone won't make you rich, thanks to inflation. Build a cash-generating machine (like a business) and invest the proceeds into assets that generate cash or appreciate (like real estate).

These lessons may not work for everyone, but I hope they inspire you.

Escaping Your Paper Prison | Ep. 258

Escaping Your Paper Prison | Ep. 258

In today's episode, inspired by a question from listener Brayden, we explore the concept of personal prisons.

Brayden asked about a quote he saw, "Worked all weekend isn't a flex, it's a prison." He wondered if loving your work changes that.

Here's the takeaway: Prisons are about the absence of choice. The difference between a palace and a prison is choice.

We often create our own mental prisons, but they have no locks, guards, or walls.

It's our belief that we can't leave that keeps us inside.

The good news? Freedom is a matter of choice. You can choose to break free from your paper prison, no matter how insurmountable it seems.

Take time for introspection. Identify your paper prisons, areas where you believe there's no choice. Challenge those beliefs. What if you do have a choice?

Remember, you hold the key to your own jailbreak.

You Can Make Millions if You Master These 4 Skills | Ep. 252

You Can Make Millions if You Master These 4 Skills | Ep. 252

In this episode, I'm gonna dive into something pretty cool that's had a massive impact on my journey: the four big money-making levers.

I like to think of these as the pillars of success, and here they are:

    •  Labor Leverage
    • Capital Leverage
    • Value Creation
    • Scale Distribution

And here's the deal - getting the hang of any of these can level up your earning game and your life in general.

I believe that mastering these levers is like having the secret keys to financial success and personal growth.

So, whether you're just dipping your toes into entrepreneurship or you're looking to supercharge your existing gig, these ideas are pretty handy.

You don't need to be a whiz at all four, but nailing even one can make a huge dent in your journey.

How to Come Up with Infinite Content Ideas | Ep. 233

How to Come Up with Infinite Content Ideas | Ep. 233

I got a cool question on YouTube recently…they asked how I come up with content ideas for my daily podcast.

With over 200 episodes released since January 2023, plus daily tweets and posts, keeping it fresh might seem challenging.

Here's the scoop…Creativity is like a muscle. The more you exercise it, the stronger it gets.

I've been creating content since 2014, so don't compare yourself to my output if you're just starting.

For fresh ideas, I rely on a "Story and Idea Bible."

I jot down events from my life and interesting concepts I stumble upon. Combining and reinterpreting these ideas often leads to unique content.

I also believe in documenting over creating. Everyday moments can hold surprising insights.

Reacting to content you see on social media is another goldmine for ideas.

Creativity isn't just about inspiration; it's a skill you can nurture.
