    Deeper Love, Intimacy, & Closing The Trauma Loop with Stefanos Sifandos

    In today's episode Emily interviews relationship coach Stefanos Sifandos who has over 20 years of direct experience in the personal transformation space guiding people into deeper intimacy and healing. He is a trained educator and somatic and trauma-informed relationship expert with a background in behavioral science and philosophy. He is passionate about leading people closer to their highest potential and each other.

    We explore nervous system regulation tactics to calm the body like box breathing, grounding in nature and a “foghorn” visualization bringing us home. Stephanos explains trauma imprinting behaviors by imprinting our body/mind. He uses breathwork and somatic modalities to “close the loop” on traumatic responses. Our conversation covers masculine/feminine energetic dynamics - addressing inner child wounds first before authentic relating can unfold.

    Stephanos shares how becoming attuned to the body’s signals can reveal when past trauma is triggered unconsciously. He gives the example of exhaling during intense Muay Thai sparring to instantly self-regulate.

    Navigating The Hard Days

    My tips for navigating a hard day

    1. Have a framework / guidance system / non-negotiables for your hard days
    2. Adjust your targets / expectations for hard days 
    3. Fuel yourself properly (nutrition + hydration) 
    4. Move your body (yoga!)

    Questions to ask yourself:

    1. Will this help nourish my body/mind/soul?
    2. How can I love myself through my choices right now?

    Release:

    1. Expectations, shame, judgement of self
    2. stories about the emotions
    3. the desire to ignore / distract / numb (no doomsday scrolling, swiping, or intaking substances). 

    Here was my exact day:

    processing emotions/ shadow work, solo computer work (releasing expectations to film/ record etc), went for a walk w a friend, hot yoga class with another friend, attended breathwork & meditation class at night, went to bed early.... Hard days don't stop coming, we just get better at navigating them. Simply encourage yourself to simply make better choices next time.
