Ep 973 | What Does Mike Rowe Think About God? | Guest: Mike Rowe
Today, we sit down with Mike Rowe to discuss the necessity of a college degree, trade schools as a viable option, and the future of artificial intelligence. Is college the right path for everyone? How did we get to the point where college is aggressively pushed on all high schoolers? And is AI a tool for the future or a crutch that will lead to mass intellectual decline? We also dive into why people seem so certain about the future and what the Bible has to say about human finiteness and what exactly we CAN be sure of. Changing Your Mind IS A Strength

Changing Your Mind IS A Strength

Today's episode of the podcast is a conversation I had in 2019 around the topic of changing your mind and whether it's a good or bad thing. The power of changing your mind and why being adaptable, especially if it involves your pursuit of happiness, is crucial for success. Sometimes it all comes down to persisting vs. pivoting your perspective when working on projects or even life in general. Whether you're an entrepreneur, a content creator, or simply striving for personal growth, this episode offers practical strategies for turning feedback into a powerful tool for improvement. I hope you enjoy it!

Arnold Schwarzenegger ON: How to Make Your Visions a Reality & Stop Having a Limited Mindset

What’s stopping you from turning your visions into reality?

This is a question that many struggle with and we often spend most of our time finding the answers.

Today, we are happy to welcome Austrian-born bodybuilder, actor, businessman, philanthropist, bestselling author, and politician, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold served as the thirty-eighth governor of California and his new book, Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life, takes readers on an inspirational tour through Arnold’s tool kit for a meaningful life.

We will explore Arnold's early years, growing up with a strict father and his deep yearning for genuine conversations. His experiences in the military taught him invaluable life lessons that would shape his path to success. Arnold shares the pivotal moment when he first arrived in the United States, igniting his passion for bodybuilding, a journey that would ultimately define his legacy.

As the conversation deepens, he emphasizes the importance of creating our own paths to happiness and challenges the notion of sacrifice when you truly love what you do. He highlights the significance of having a clear vision for our goals and how compromise plays a vital role in maintaining family unity. Arnold's insights on the art of selling and looking beyond conventional markets shed light on his extraordinary success.

    In this interview, you'll learn:

    • How to be resilient in the most difficult situations
    • How to change the trajectory of your life
    • How to be genuinely happy and content
    • The importance of allotting time for your family
    • How to effectively sell your product
    • How to breakthrough any market

His journey serves as a testament to the idea that every accomplishment unveils a new purpose, driving us to explore our next chapter in life and an inspiration to us all to reach for greatness and share our stories with the world.

Make It So: Sir Patrick Stewart On Surviving Trauma, Staying Engaged & Lessons From The Artist Life

Make It So: Sir Patrick Stewart On Surviving Trauma, Staying Engaged & Lessons From The Artist Life
Beloved icon of stage and screen, my guest today is the singular Sir Patrick Stewart. The knighted Shakespeare thespian, captain of the Starship Enterprise, international treasure, and master storyteller is here and brings conversational delights lifted from 83 years of life. Today Patrick shares tales from his humble beginnings, how theatre saved him, and how childhood trauma informed his career and led to his passion for mental health advocacy. We also discuss legacy, longevity, honing your craft, the importance of mentorship, and his unique friendship with Sir Ian McKellen. We of course dive into some epic Star Trek stories and explore why the series is so indelible—which naturally led to thoughts on UFOs and the ghost that he is absolutely convinced took up residence in his Silverlake home.  The occasion for today’s exchange is Patrick’s brand new memoir, Making It So—an excellent read that traces the improbable story of his life from his humble beginnings in Yorkshire, England, to the heights of Hollywood and worldwide acclaim. They say never meet your heroes. I disagree. As a long-time Trekkie, this was a pinch-me moment. It was an absolute pleasure and honor to talk with a man I respect and admire tremendously. Enjoy! He has previously said that he would “speak soon with no filter”, for Ivan Toney that time is now. In this new episode Steven sits down with footballer Ivan Toney. Ivan started his football career in 2012 playing for Northampton Town at 16 years old, and 3 years later moved into the Premier League with Newcastle United. After 4 appearances with Newcastle United, he spent the next few years on loan to various clubs. However, in 2018 Ivan began to build his reputation as a top striker when he joined Peterborough United, scoring 49 goals in 94 appearances. In 2020, Ivan signed with Brentford, helping them win promotion to the Premier League in his first season. In November 2022, the FA charged Ivan with 232 counts of breaching betting rules between 2017 and 2021, he was fined £50,000 and banned from playing professional football until 17 January 2024. In this conversation Ivan and Steven discuss topics, such as: Finding football at a young age The brutal playing style of the lower leagues His father’s belief that he would be a top footballer The advice Ivan would give to his younger self When he began gambling The impact that rejection by teams had on him His journey in football being a constant climb How moving to the Premier League changed his mindset Mixing with the wrong crowd when in the Premier League Not feeling as if he was given the chance to prove himself early in his career Taking chances and becoming a top goal scorer Becoming a father at a young age and its impact on him Advice that he would give to his children if they wanted to become footballers Why Brentford is so special and it’s superpower as a team The mentality that management instils at Brentford The importance of having self belief His gambling addiction How he believes that FA made an example out of him Why he was not match fixing His lowest point during his playing ban Being denied entry to a restaurant because of the allegations against him Seeing this chapter of his life as a learning moment How young footballers not being given advice on how to spend their money wisely The racist abuse he has received Why he stopped taking the knee before matches How he plans to be scoring goals in January 2024 Follow Ivan: Instagram: https://bit.ly/47wdaMe Twitter: https://bit.ly/3QM9a4p Follow me: https://beacons.ai/diaryofaceo Learn more about your ad choices. Why Working From Home is Career Suicide

Why Working From Home is Career Suicide

Work from home is career suicide! Rob knows this isn’t a popular opinion, but felt it was about time he was honest about his thoughts and opinions around working from home. Join him in this episode to learn about the real cost to working from home and why everyone needs to wake up in the UK and get back to the office!

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Working from home was a good solution for lockdowns because otherwise there wouldn’t have been people working. But we are getting back to ‘normal’ now and we need to be as productive as possible to help the economy recover.
    • At the moment, it’s an employee/candidate job market. Which means they can be a bit choosier and take more from employers. However, this will all change in the next two years when the market switches back.
    • Individuals learn more by seeing. You learn the best and the quickest through osmosis.
    • Being in the office allows you to be inspired by those around you. Both in terms of ideas but also in terms of your career path. You miss all of this at home.
    • There is high demand for those people in relevant roles who are good at working from home. But this only applies to a narrow amount of people. If this is you then you need to ensure you prove to your employer that you are working at full capacity, that you are one of the 'good ones'.
    • There is an exception to all of this. If you want to be an entrepreneur, then you need to learn how to work well from home. But, you earn this right as an entrepreneur once you learn how to motivate, schedule and push yourself.

    BEST MOMENTS

“There’s this pandemic of laziness and entitlement"

“The only way you get out of this alive is work more, hustle more, create more and serve more"

“How will you spot the next career move from home? You won’t!”
