    Rob's Guide to Ruthless Productivity

    Rob's Guide to Ruthless Productivity

Get your productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency into high gear with this episode with Rob. He lays out the keys to ruthlessly prioritising your most important task in the moment, maximising the leverage of your time, and how to avoid procrastination. Rob pushes you to be fully present, maintain focus, and align your activities to move the needle on income generation!

    Rob Reveals:

    • There is only one spontaneous "right action" task you should be doing at any time.
    • Measure priority tasks by income generation and fear/difficulty level.
    • Being productive is output volume; being effective is the quality of output.
    • Lists create overwhelm; pick one priority item and fully focus on executing it.
    • Challenge yourself and others when conversations enable procrastination.
    • Planning helps the future but stay present; ask "What's most important right now?"
    • You can't blame others for distraction without your permission.

    BEST MOMENTS

"Procrastination is not being able to control an emotion."

"So eat the, eat the frog. He wrote a book called eat that frog. And eat the frog means the very thing you don't want to do that you've been putting off, you do it immediately."

"It matters, is this the right phone number for the phone call I'm gonna do now? And, am I gonna give them my full attention?

"People are not what they say. People are what they do. And that's not a criticism. It's just what it is."

"I want you to do those because the more money you make and I'm not gonna pay you more money if I don't make more money."

The evidence on school vouchers that'll please nobody

The evidence on school vouchers that'll please nobody
School vouchers, or school choice as it's known among advocates, is public funding for children to attend private schools. It's a controversial policy — some say it undermines the public school system, others say it gives parents the ability to choose the best school for their children.

And its popularity has been spiking recently. In 2021, 19 states introduced or expanded them. Partly it's been a reaction against public schools' covid control policies and teaching on sexuality, gender and race.

But leaving aside the deeper political questions, what does the evidence say about the core thing school is supposed to be for: giving children a solid education?

In this episode, we get into whether or not school vouchers improve student learning. The lesson: what may feel better may not have much of an effect.

    How to Change the World

    How to Change the World

Does power truly flow from the barrel of a gun? Pop culture and conventional history often teach us that violence is the most effective way to produce change. But is that common assumption actually true? Political scientist Erica Chenoweth, who has studied more than 100 years of revolutions and insurrections, says the answer is counterintuitive.

Why Aduhelm, a new Alzheimer's treatment, isn't reaching many patients

Why Aduhelm, a new Alzheimer's treatment, isn't reaching many patients
Aduhelm, known generically as aducanumab, is the first drug to actually affect the underlying disease process associated with Alzheimer's. Yet sales have been limited, and the drug is reaching very few patients — at least so far. It's expensive, risky and likely doing little to improve patients' lives. NPR science correspondent Jon Hamilton explains why doctors and patients aren't excited about the new drug and what it could mean for future Alzheimer's drugs.
