Based on the thousands of companies YC has funded over the years, the biggest common element between all successful startups is having technical talent on the founding team. But what do you do if you don't know how to code? You may think you can get by using no-code tools, part-time consultants, or dev shops to bring your startup idea to life. But that thinking is wrong. In this episode of Dalton & Michael, we’ll discuss exactly why that is and why recruiting a technical co-founder is the single biggest way to create value as someone trying to start the next big thing. Dr. Jordan B Peterson sits down with the 46th governor of Florida and 2024 presidential candidate Ron DeSantis. They discuss his working-class upbringing, the fundamentals of team building, the drastic need for government reduction, and how Florida might work as a national blueprint post 2024.
Ron DeSantis is an American politician in the Republican party. He is a veteran from the U.S. Navy and is currently serving as the 46th governor of Florida (since 2019). DeSantis was initially a member of Congress elected in 2012, 2014, and 2016. He was a founding member of the Freedom Caucus, a Right-wing congressional caucus formed by conservatives and Tea Party members alike. DeSantis was an avid supporter of Donald Trump during his first campaign and is now running squarely against him for the 2024 presidential elections.

Waymo Co-CEO Dmitri Dolgov is convinced that his company’s vehicles are better at driving than any human. Dmitri has spent thousands of hours riding in them, and recently Guy had the chance to try one out as well...
This week on How I Built This Lab, Dmitri recounts the decade-plus journey of building Waymo into the world’s first company to operate a fully-autonomous ride hailing service. Plus, how Waymo’s approach differs from Tesla’s, and Dmitri’s take on when we’ll see more AV’s on the roads than human-driven cars (spoiler: sooner than you may think!)

When answering behavioral interview questions, it's important to emphasize what you did to respond to the problem, and what the impact was. But chances are, you aren't describing the initial 'situation' in enough detail!
In this weeks episode, Emma and Sarah explain how you can sell yourself short if you gloss over how difficult or complex the situation or problem actually was.
We use real life examples to show you how providing enough context can set you up for a compelling narrative that will have your interviewer on the edge of their seat!
🏀 Shoot Your Shot - Shoutout to Marissa! "I never thought I would see this day. Today I accepted an offer for my perfect role with an amazing company. I’ve been struggling to get an offer over the past two years that I’ve been on and off job hunting. But this time, I knew this was the perfect job for me and I had to be 100% prepared. I searched for podcasts to help me and that’s when I found you lovely ladies! I have never felt more prepared, confident, and calm going into an interview (5 one on one conversations!!!) I left each one feeling amazing and listening to your before and after episodes gave me that extra boost of confidence and reassurance I needed. And you helped me fill the gaps during those torturous waiting periods until I got moved to the next round and finally got the offer! Now I can move on to your episodes that will help me crush it as I transition to my next role! Thank you both so much for your funny, witty, and much needed content. And most importantly, thank you for helping me believe in myself. You’re the best!"

The technology known as CRISPR is considered one of modern biology’s biggest breakthroughs. It allows scientists to edit genes, similar to how you cut and paste text in a word processor. More than a decade after pioneering CRISPR, Nobel laureate Jennifer Doudna of the University of California, Berkeley, is applying it to big problems, like chronic disease and climate change.Marketplace’s Lily Jamali recently met up with Doudna at Berkeley’s Innovative Genomics Institute. It’s a cluster of lab stations, researchers and very loud refrigerators where CRISPR is used to edit microbiomes.

The teens plan their next move while taking a moment to make amends.
