Mark Manson: «The subtle art of not giving a f***» – oder wie wir uns Dinge am Arsch vorbeigehen lassen.

791: Mark Manson | Giving a F*ck About What Really Matters

791: Mark Manson | Giving a F*ck About What Really Matters

Mark Manson (@IAmMarkManson) is the New York Times bestselling author of The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, and the subject of a new feature film that goes by the same name.

What We Discuss with Mark Manson:

    • Mark and Jordan discuss how they evolved beyond their roots in the seedy pickup artist (PUA) scene to help people from all walks of life transcend insecurities and discover their true potential — or at least derive entertainment from some books and podcasts.
    • Mark experiences the ups and downs of becoming a viral sensation: from seeing his book publicly enjoyed by Congressional representatives and Hollywood movie stars to discovering that Putin's using it as an excuse to tighten Russia's censorship laws.
    • The dangers of delusional positivity — just because believing something makes you feel good doesn't make it real, which means you're going to be especially disappointed when it's time to acknowledge what is real.
    • Our brains want there to be an easy, fix-all formula for happiness that we can get from attending a self-help seminar or reading a stack of personal growth books, but the principles we learn from them are useless until we go through the effort to apply them to our lives in the outside world.
    • There's no such thing as bad emotions — there are only bad reactions to emotions.
    • And much more...

E111: The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck: Mark Manson
Mark Manson is the phenomenon behind ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck’ and ‘Everything is F*cked’. He has sold over 13 million books and his blog, Life Advice That Doesn’t Suck, receives millions of views every month. His new book is co-written with Will Smith and is called ‘Will’. Mark is an interesting character with a fascinating story. Quitting his first proper job in finance within weeks, Mark ended up as a pick-up artist. He has since become critical of the pick-up artist industry, although said his job was more providing a kind of therapy for men rather than trying to attract girls. Mark’s message, although controversial to some, helps millions of people face their challenges and be the most confident version of themselves. Today, he brings that message to us. So you can judge for yourselves. Your early years Pickup artistry Rejection and self worth in relationships Fundamental characteristics of a good relationship Trying to find purpose Why you have to treat people well How to figure out what you actually want The values that allow you to be fulfilled Personal responsibility Is happiness a choice? #72 - Max Giesinger

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck | Mark Manson

This week’s conversation is with Mark Manson, the #1 New York Times Bestselling author of Everything is F*cked: A Book About Hope and The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life, the mega-bestseller that reached #1 in fourteen different countries.

Mark’s books have been translated into more than 50 languages and have sold over 12 million copies worldwide.

He runs one of the largest personal growth websites in the world, MarkManson.net, a blog with more than two million monthly readers and half a million subscribers, making him one of the largest and most successful independent publishers in the world.

Mark’s writing is often described as ‘self-help for people who hate self-help’ — a no-BS brand of life advice and cultural commentary that has struck a chord with people around the globe.

And the same can be said for this conversation – it’s a no BS, candid look into Mark’s upbringing, what inspired him to start writing, and why he’s a fervent believer of getting to the truth.

198: Mark Manson | Channeling Hope, Choosing Problems, and Changing Values

Mark Manson (@iammarkmanson) is a blogger, entrepreneur, and author of The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life and his latest, Everything Is F*cked: A Book About Hope.

What We Discuss with Mark Manson:

    • How acknowledging the uncomfortable truth of human existence's meaninglessness can ultimately serve as an argument against nihilism.
    • What the paradox of purpose tells us about the stress that accompanies an overwhelming abundance of choice.
    • How the feeling brain and the thinking brain might seem at odds, but they actually conspire to guide our values (for better or worse).
    • Why your identity will stay your identity until a new experience acts against it, and how you can change your values to fit your current narrative instead of one that's outdated.
    • What the God value is and how it aligns your hierarchy of values by way of the feeling brain.
    • And much more...
