Together they have sold more than two million copies in 37 languages. He is also a speaker, host of The Greg McKeown Podcast and founder of The Essentialism Academy with students from 96 countries. More than 175,000 people have signed up to his 1-Minute Wednesday newsletter.

He is currently doing a doctorate at The University of Cambridge, and he is easily one of my favorite thinkers on all things related to effectiveness, efficiency, and—at the end of the day—quality of life.

This episode is also brought to you by AG1! I get asked all the time, “If you could use only one supplement, what would it be?” My answer is usually AG1, my all-in-one nutritional insurance. I recommended it in The 4-Hour Body in 2010 and did not get paid to do so. I do my best with nutrient-dense meals, of course, but AG1 further covers my bases with vitamins, minerals, and whole-food-sourced micronutrients that support gut health and the immune system.

Right now, you’ll get a 1-year supply of Vitamin D free with your first subscription purchase—a vital nutrient for a strong immune system and strong bones. Visit DrinkAG1.com/Tim to claim this special offer today and receive your 1-year supply of Vitamin D (and 5 free AG1 travel packs) with your first subscription purchase! That’s up to a one-year supply of Vitamin D as added value when you try their delicious and comprehensive daily, foundational nutrition supplement that supports whole-body health.

This episode is also brought to you by Momentous high-quality supplements! Momentous offers high-quality supplements and products across a broad spectrum of categories, and I’ve been testing their products for months now. I’ve been using their magnesium threonateapigenin, and L-theanine daily, all of which have helped me improve the onset, quality, and duration of my sleep. I’ve also been using Momentous creatine, and while it certainly helps physical performance, including poundage or wattage in sports, I use it primarily for mental performance (short-term memory, etc.).

Their products are third-party tested (Informed-Sport and/or NSF certified), so you can trust that what is on the label is in the bottle and nothing else. If you want to try Momentous for yourself, you can use code Tim for 20% off your one-time purchase at LiveMomentous.com/TimAnd not to worry, my non-US friends, Momentous ships internationally and has you covered.

    375. The Everyday Runner, Melissa Cummings

    375. The Everyday Runner, Melissa Cummings

“I’m very proud that I have managed to, in less than a year, do four half marathons. It’s not something I ever could have dreamed of doing. And I’m just proud I have really stuck it out. Because it’s hard. It’s not easy to try to work yourself back from a poor health standard, or to bring yourself out of that mental hole that people can fall into. I’m very proud that I have stood up and said, ‘I need help, and I need to make a change.’ That’s a huge step for anybody to take. The fact that I’ve taken that step and I keep moving forward… That means a lot to me.”

Welcome to the final episode of the newest series on the Ali on the Run Show: The Everyday Runner. For the past four weeks, we’ve been hearing from runners who are just like you and me. Not professional athletes — these runners have jobs, families, and responsibilities beyond this sport we all love so much.

Today, we wrap things up with Melissa Cummings, a runner — or “walker with purpose,” as she likes to say — from Manchester, NH. On this episode, Melissa shares the story of wanting to take back control of her life, and how she found running, racing, and a welcoming running club along the way. She talks about that title, “runner,” and shares her thoughts on whether or not she — as a four-time half-marathoner — has embraced it yet. She talks about what it was like joining the Millennium Running Club, and what it was like being named 2020’s Club Member of the Year. And she talks about her experience with depression, and how running has helped.

What you’ll get on this episode:

    • What Melissa’s childhood was like as the youngest of five children (6:45)
    • How Melissa found running (11:00)
    • How one race became a year of races (18:45)
    • On joining a running club (23:30)
    • Melissa’s quest to “take back her life” (33:30)
    • On becoming a half-marathoner! (35:45)
    • On being named Millennium Running’s Club Member of the Year (45:15)
    • What got Melissa to sign up for a marathon (50:40)
    • On owning the title, “runner” (54:00)

    # 10 - Walking For Weight Loss, Fasted Cardio & Interval Training

    # 10 - Walking For Weight Loss, Fasted Cardio & Interval Training

Walking for fat loss – In the last episode we talked about running and how to get started from a beginner’s point of view.

Running and jogging can be great for fat loss but I am fully aware that not everyone wants to start running 10k’s, half or even full marathons. And in some cases, peoples situation might be that they physically can’t run but they can walk.

Whether you are in a position where you can’t run or you maybe you don’t want to run to lose body fat, but you still want to lower your body fat percentage in some way, you can still get some great results simply by walking.

    Going Back to Go Forward

    Going Back to Go Forward

We go back to go forward in this episode. We spend time reviewing Gil's book "Wisdom Walking," and how the 4 stages of pilgrimage in his book shape our conversations in the podcast. We talk about Chaos, Birth, Disorientation, Orientation, and Rising from the Ashes. We delve into what are the themes and ideas of the podcast are and will be.

#ALB44 - How Jon Monks DOUBLED his sales, whilst working HALF as hard

#ALB44 - How Jon Monks DOUBLED his sales, whilst working HALF as hard

    Everyone loves Black Friday, right?

Especially today's guest Jon Monks. Last year, Jon managed to DOUBLE the previous year's Black Friday sales figures.

But he managed to do so whilst working HALF as hard.

So much so, that he left the office at 4pm, as there was nothing for him to do - the till was ringing all by itself!

    In this episode you'll discover:

    • Why Jon calls himself the "conductor of the orchestra".
    • How he persuades other people to increase his sales for him.
    • Why Jon NEVER discounts (even on Black Friday!)
    • How he merges his work and private life to enjoy BOTH more.
    • How Jon struggled for almost two decades, before discovering a better way of working.
    • And LOADS more gold.

Jon has the following quote written on his office walls:

"We have the products. We have the knowledge. We have the skill."

In the next 47 minutes, Jon will share his knowledge with you, and YOU'LL have the skill too...
