The U.S. Open crowned its winners this weekend. But for a lot of fans, this year’s competition was less about who won, and more about a player who wasn’t even involved in the final matches.

Serena Williams, who announced last month that she’d be retiring from tennis after this year’s tournament, has made an indelible impact on her sport and left a legacy away from the court that has very little precedent.

In November, Peng Shuai — one of China’s most popular tennis stars — took to Chinese social media to accuse Zhang Gaoli, who was a member of China’s seven-member ruling committee, of sexually assaulting her.

Within minutes, Chinese censors had taken down Ms. Peng’s post, and, for weeks, no one sees or hears from her.

We look at Ms. Peng’s story and what China’s attempts to censor her have meant for the sports industry.

We talk about his childhood, how much tennis he and his brother (Andy Murray) played as children and whether just focusing on one sport is beneficial for children. We also discuss the benefits of playing doubles and Jamie talks about his youtube channel in which he has created instructional videos to help people improve their doubles game. Jamie believes that tennis is a game for everyone – I hope this conversation inspires you to pick up a tennis racket or simply get more active.

Today's guest is the very definition of all of those things.
Novak Djokovic grew up during two wars in Serbia. As a child, he would be woken up at 2 am to alarms going off and be forced to head to a safe place. He saw the night's sky turn to light as he heard and felt the rumble of bombs being dropped around him.
Through all of this Novak didn't turn to hate. Instead he turned to love and passion. He became the #1 tennis champion in the world.
