The Powerful Connection Between Migraines and ADHD

The Powerful Connection Between Migraines and ADHD

Migraines and ADHD are something I hear about a lot in my ADHD female community. I also relate to this from a personal perspective with one of my ADHD daughters suffering from migraines, as well as quite a few friends. Migraines can be a lifelong debilitating condition alongside the many other symptoms that come with them.

Today's ADHD Women's Wellbeing Podcast episode explores the very powerful connection between migraines and neurodivergence in women with my guest, Diane Ducarme, the contemporary master of migraine investigation. Her unique approach combines the ancient wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine with cutting-edge technology to unearth the intricate root causes of migraines weaving on top of genetics. Diane’s relentless inquisitive mind for highly complex problems is what allows her to deliver life-transforming results, which is the fuel to her energy.

What sets Diane apart is her emphasis on the power of functional foods. Unlike conventional approaches focusing on eliminating foods, Diane adds new elements to the equation. Her dedication to unravelling the mysteries of migraines has inspired a podcast, "Migraine Heroes," and her company, Nectar Health, is at the forefront of this remarkable journey towards migraine relief and wellness.

On this episode, Kate and Diane speak about:

    • A digestive superfood that could help your migraines
    • The vagus nerve and the connection to migraines
    • Why migraines could be related to your ADHD
    • How your digestive system can hold the keys to health
    • The connection between your brain function and your food
    • The profound wisdom of Chinese traditional medicine
    • How Hormonal shifts affect your gut and brain
    • Having period cycles that can actually feel good
    • The effects of endometriosis on the digestive system
    • What chinese traditional medicine can teach you about ADHD

Nervous System Healing Has No Boundaries

Nervous System Healing Has No Boundaries

Trauma Rewired: The Science of Applied Neurology

    Season 02, Episode 05

The same tools you use to rehabilitate your knee can also be applied to decreasing anxiety. Our bodies are incredibly intelligent machines wired to keep us alive and thriving, but what if that same wiring that is there to protect us, works against us in ways we aren’t aware of? In the same breath, what if that same knowledge is the key to, not only our healing, but our acceleration as physical and intelligent beings. This is what our guest on today’s episode is here to discuss:

Internationally recognized teacher of Applied Neurology, co-founder of Next Level Neuro, and part creator of Neurosomatic Intelligence Coaching, Matt Bush is joining us on today’s podcast to discuss his techniques used in Applied Neurology to heal the mind and body for optimal performance.

Matt’s innovative approach to healing has proven successful in treating issues such as scoliosis, chronic pain, long COVID, and anxiety, by focusing on the nervous system, specifically vision, as treatment. Matt’s methods are based heavily in science, however require little to no equipment. He puts his trust in the body’s intelligence in healing itself through simple exercises that could ultimately be life changing for many.

It’s time to move out of survival mode and create an above average life, because average does not have to be the baseline, excelling above is the goal and that’s what applied neurology teaches us.

Listen in for a fresh take on healing and information on how you could also become a Neurosomatic Intelligence Coach!

    Topics discussed in this episode:

    • Client and personal stories about Applied Neurology
    • What is Applied Neurology - simply put
    • Why is it important to train the nervous system
    • What do nervous system deficits look like
    • Monovision explained
    • Where 2020 vision came from
    • How stress hormone levels affect athletic performance
    • What is Vagus nerve training
    • Long COVID recovery

How Trauma Lives in the Body

How Trauma Lives in the Body

Trauma Rewired: How Trauma Lives In The Body

    Season 02, Episode 02]

There is a fundamental key to healing trauma that is often overlooked, but crucial to move from survival mode to a balanced fulfilling life. That is, understanding that our bodies have a highly intellectual memory system that holds on to trauma for years. We focus so much on the mind, but neglect the intricacies of our physiology to heal traumas long term. Your mood, finances, intimacy, productivity, etc, are essentially dictated by your nervous system. A dysregulated nervous system caused by trauma can have detrimental effects on all areas of life, especially if negative coping mechanisms are involved.

In this episode, Jennifer Wallace sits down with the creator of Brain Based Wellness, Elisabeth Kristof, to discuss how applied neurology is the missing piece to understanding what trauma really is and how it affects our physical bodies on a scientific level, and in turn our outer world. Jennifer and Elisabeth recount their own experiences in healing from trauma using applied neurology.

Intellectually understanding your trauma is not enough, there is an extra layer that we must pay attention to before we can fully heal. Through consistent, healthy, nervous system regulation practices and exercises, mentioned in today’s episode, healing IS possible. Listen in for more information.

    Topics discussed in this episode:

    • What is trauma
    • How to recognize nervous system dysregulation
    • Pinpoint negative regulation patterns
    • Tools to regulate nervous system healthily
    • The science of trauma
    • How applied neurology heals trauma
    • Easy daily exercises to help heal trauma

#45 The Science of Yoga with Eddie Stern

#45 The Science of Yoga with Eddie Stern

On the podcast today I welcome Eddie Stern

Eddie is a yoga teacher, author, and lecturer from New York City. He is known for his multi-disciplinary approach to furthering education and access to yoga, as well as his teaching expertise in Ashtanga Yoga.

His bestselling first solo book, One Simple Thing: A New Look at the Science of Yoga, examines in clear and simple language the underlying neurophysiological mechanisms that make yoga an effective practice.

We had a really great conversation today and some of the topics that I discussed with Eddie were:

    • How a punk rocker in the 70s became a Yoga teacher to the celebrities in New York
    • His time spent travelling in India and learning from the great masters of Yoga while on his travels
    • Why consciousness is an important concept to fathom and how the process of learning 'who we are' is important, rather the achievement
    • The studies that Eddie has been involved in, that demonstrate Yoga as an important tool for cardiovascular health
    • The vagus nerve as a root to mindfulness and changing your autonomic nervous system function

Do have a look at at the Summary and Guest Info sections on The Doctor's Kitchen Website where I've added a ton of more information that Eddie has been involved in and also some really interesting articles on The Vagus Nerve which I know you will find super interesting!

And have a look on The Doctor's Kitchen YouTube Channel - at the video I cooked with Eddie

And remember to check out Eddie Stern on his website and social media pages by following the links below, and also have a look at Eddie's book - One Simple Thing - A New Look at the Science of Yoga, by clicking this link.

Have a listen to the podcast and enjoy - and don't forget to give us a 5* rating on the podcast, it really does help to spread the love and the message and for others to find us too!
