Why are female politicians still taken less seriously?

Why are women still taken less seriously than men?

Alona Ferber, senior editor at the New Statesman, is joined by Mary Ann Seighart, journalist, former assistant editor of The Times, visiting professor at Kings College London and author of The Authority Gap: Why women are still taken less seriously than men, and what we can do about it.

One of the things that shocked Mary Ann Seighart most from writing this book was that even the most senior, successful, authoritative women are taken less seriously. Even being president of a country doesn't insulate women from the authority gap. Why is this?

3 Main Leadership Styles: Advantages of Each and When to Use Them

3 Main Leadership Styles: Advantages of Each and When to Use Them

The best leaders adapt their leadership style based on their team's needs.

I like to think of the saying "wearing different hats" where one hat (way of leading) may be appropriate for one environment but not another.

Similarly, we shouldn't always be leading one way.

Sometimes you need to manage, sometimes you need to teach and sometimes you need to coach.

Knowing the differences, the advantages and disadvantages of each and when to use them can help you understand how to create a stronger, more motivated team.

Learn how to know which you are using the most and how it may be impacting those around you in this episode.

Leadership HABITS That Will Transform You From Good To GREAT | Dean Leber & Brandon Eastman

🤔What separates good leaders from great ones?

    It's NOT your job title.
It's NOT years of 'management experience.'
It's NOT the amount of people you have on your team.

    Great leaders possess TWO things:
⭐️ A very specific philosophy, and
    ⭐️ World-class leadership success habits.

I recently sat down with organizational leadership expert, Dean Leber, and asked him to dive into these two concepts.

    In our conversation, we unpack

👉🏻 Conscious Leadership: How to make more impactful decisions, build stronger teams, and create a positive influence in your organization and beyond.

👉🏻 Habits of the Elite: Game-changing rituals that can propel you from where you are now to where you aspire to be.

👉🏻 Lead Yourself First: Invaluable insights on leading yourself first.

This conversation with Dean will leave you with a real and practical roadmap to elevate your leadership skills immediately.

Discovering the 6 Leadership styles advantages to drive sustainable growth

In this episode of the Business Legacy Podcast, we delve into the insightful book Primal Leadership and its impact on our understanding of leadership. Co-authored by Daniel Goleman, Richard Boyatzis, and Annie McKee, this book explores the concept of emotional intelligence and its significance in effective leadership. It takes us on a journey through the six different leadership styles, each possessing unique characteristics and effects.

As a young leader, I grappled with defining my own leadership style, and this book served as a guiding light, helping me unravel the various styles and contemplate the kind of leader I aspired to be.

    Topics covered in this Episode:

    • The concept of emotional intelligence and its impact on effective leadership

    • The different leadership styles visionary, coaching, affiliative, democratic, pace-setting, and commanding leadership.

Have you heard of 'servant leadership'?

Traditional leadership - Involves the accumulation and exercise of power by one at the “top of the pyramid."

Servant leadership - Shares power, puts the needs of others first and helps people develop and perform as highly as possible.

Not only does servant leadership improve employee morale, it also increases company profit.

But for a minute, let's ditch theory:

Serving over 2 DECADES in the military, Retired Lieutenant Colonel Oak McCulloch found that servant leadership was the true key to success in leading a team.

Now, Oak is a nationally recognized keynote speaker and the author of the 2021 release, Your Leadership Legacy: Becoming the Leader You Were Meant to Be.

In our conversation on The Be Better Broadcast, you will learn

Leadership 101 pt 3 – Servant, Coaching & Authentic Leadership Styles

Leadership 101 pt 3 – Servant, Coaching & Authentic Leadership Styles

Today, we're diving into another three powerful leadership styles – servant, coaching and authentic – that can transform the way you lead and inspire others.  We also look at what type of team member thrives best under each of these different leadership styles.

Servant vs Coaching vs Authentic Leadership Styles

    Similarities:

    1. All three leadership styles prioritise building positive relationships with their teams.
    2. All three leadership styles aim to inspire and motivate teams towards a shared vision.
    3. All three leadership styles require self-awareness and reflection to be effective.

    Differences:

    1. Servant leadership focuses on serving the needs of others, while coaching focuses on developing others' skills and abilities, and authentic leadership focuses on being true to oneself and acting ethically.
    2. Servant leadership emphasises humility and putting others first, while coaching emphasises the importance of feedback and accountability, and authentic leadership emphasises transparency and ethical behaviour.
    3. Servant leadership is focused on the needs of others, coaching is focused on development and results, and authentic leadership is focused on being true to oneself and acting ethically.

Understand the strengths and weaknesses of each style, consider the unique needs of their team members => a positive work environment that fosters growth and success.
