Re: Inventing - Creating Your Version of Success (w/ Alina Kravchenko, Founder - Better Way Goods & Better Way Body)

Alina Kravchenko has always loved inventing.

Alina defines her entrepreneurial success based on one simple factor: how much creativity she’s able to express as a founder. But being raised by a single mom in Ukraine and eventually becoming a single mom herself meant there was no shortage of people who looked down on them both.

When she drained her 401K and secured a patent for SwipenSnap, her one-hand applicator for baby ointment, people laughed at her. Until the product landed Alina a spot on Shark Tank and propelled her to launch TonerBum, an ergonomic weight designed specifically for glute workouts.

In this conversation, Alina answers questions like: why does she feel so driven to constantly create? How did she persist during times of immense stress as a single mom? And how can we determine our own versions of success as entrepreneurs?

    Alina talks about:

    • Growing up in Ukraine
    • Overcoming immense self-doubt
    • Defining success as a creative person
    • Embracing falls instead of giving in to failure
    • Why pursuing wealth will never make you happy
    • How she created both SwipenSnap and TonerBum

On The Fence About Writing? Check This Out

L.R.J. Allen goes over self-publishing, the idea of writing for an audience of one, and writing in the face of self-doubt. When asking yourself “should you write,” it requires the courage to write and keep writing WITH the self-doubt. He takes us on a sneak peak of what he has coming up and the process of writing them. I personally love how his wife edited one of his latest works.

Some tips for keeping compassion when not hitting your word count

    -losing momentum isn’t fatal

-you don’t have to catch up

    -make your own schedule

    -limit stress

L.R. J. Allen is the Author of slasher horror SUMMERSIDE LAKE MASSACRE as well as short horror story comp Among Other Things and suspense novella Office Politics. His latest horror short story is now available titled A Violent Encounter. He is an avid fan of the fantastic and has been addicted to popular fiction from a young age. He worked eight years in local government and three in telecoms before turning his hand to writing. He lives just outside Salisbury with his wife, Charlotte, and their cat Bella.

Winter McQuinn on Awareness with Amandolin

On this episode I catch up with Winter McQuinn about his second solo record "Move to the Trees" and it's upcoming release on Third Eye Stimuli. We spoke about the innately human ability to create music and inspire one another.  Planting tomatoes when things look bleak and what it was like to record and album during a weekend of pure bliss and Beatles DVD's. His new record is a series of anthems for the future, settled in a post psych folk and 70s soft rock influence. Enjoy sweet babies!

RNTKY: There Are Stories To Tell and Hear

It’s Katie Moran and MJ Coppola. We’re sharing an 11-part mindful mental health mini-series called RNTKY, sharing 11 reasons not to kill yourself. It started as a blog post, YouTube video, and now a discord community where we host gratitude challenges. Episodes will be coming out Tuesdays and Thursdays between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. We speak as mental health advocates, not mental health professionals and this content is not intended for therapeutic purposes.

This episode is about the power of stories, our personal experiences with mental health, and the impact of external validation and criticism. We shared our experiences with writing, the influence of books on our lives, and the importance of hope and resilience in the face of adversity. The episode revolved around sharing personal stories, the power of resilience, and the challenges of dealing with criticism and negativity. We emphasize the healing power of stories and the importance of self-awareness and self-growth.

Let’s erase stigma. Suicide is preventable. Mental health recovery is always possible. A person can change.

    Episode Introduction

In the latest episode of the Audio Signals Podcast, host Marco Ciappelli takes us through the fabric of storytelling in our hybrid analog-digital society. The guest, Dr. Rebecca Wynn, hosts the Soulful CXO show on ITSP Magazine Podcast Network, a series that focus on the crossroads of technology, business, and humanity.

Dr. Wynn, a seasoned CISO and cybersecurity strategist, brings her unique perspective to the conversation, discussing the significance of storytelling in technology and cybersecurity. As technology integrates deeper into our lives, Marco emphasizes the crucial role of storytellers in breaking barriers and fostering shared experiences. He introduces Dr. Wynn, highlighting her experience and the premise of her podcast, Soulful CXO.

The show is presented as a platform for authentic discussions, sharing the good, bad, and ugly of professional journeys to emphasize that no one is alone in their struggles. The dialogue opens with a fundamental question: What does CXO mean? Dr. Wynn elucidates that CXO stands for various chief officer roles, with the 'X' representing different executive positions. She explains that the "Soulful" aspect of her show title refers to bringing out the heart and soul in each story, resonating with the essence of being human. Marco probes into the transformation of cybersecurity from a purely technical field to one that recognizes the human element.

Dr. Wynn shares her personal narrative, emphasizing the importance of embracing one's struggles and learning from them. She insists that life's challenges have shaped her approach, leading her to create a space where leaders and experts can share their authentic stories without fear. The conversation takes a turn towards transparency and openness, discussing the changes in societal expectations from leaders. Dr. Wynn mentions that her guests often feel at ease sharing their stories on her show, creating a sense of safety and community. She draws a parallel with Oprah Winfrey's approach, focusing on empathy and understanding rather than sensationalism.

The episode encapsulates the essence of storytelling in our times, portraying it as a tool for connection, learning, and growth. Dr. Wynn's insights into the intertwining of humanity with technology and cybersecurity underscore the evolving nature of leadership and communication. As the episode concludes, it becomes evident that in the world of AI and technology, the human story remains the most compelling narrative of all.

Insights into AHF’s communication and events wing

    GUEST BIO:

Kevin Makdivichit is the Director of Marketing for AHF in the United States.

Ebonni Chrispin is the Director of Legislative Affairs and Community Engagement for AHF.

Max Alvarez is AHF’s Director of Events and Community Engagement.

    CORE TOPICS + DETAILS:

[2:18] - AHF as Event Host

Why AHF is taking an active role in in-person events

International Condom Day. World AIDS Day. Marches, protests, and more. AHF is more active in life, in-person events than ever.

Why? Because it’s important for people to engage. They say that birds flock, fish school, and people tribe. AHF is committed to using our tribe mentality to connect on potentially sticky subjects like STIs, AIDs, and safe sex. When we gather to openly discuss these issues in public, we remove the power of silence to keep us complacent and uncomfortable and we make these topics something that can be addressed openly and effectively.

[4:56] - Starting with Greatest Need

How AHF chooses events and locations

How does AHF choose which events to host or participate in? It all starts with statistics. For example, the efforts surrounding International Condom Day centered around data about where STI rates were off the charts. All planning focused on using those numbers to go where public conversation and education was most needed.

[7:10] - The Next Phase: Finding Partners

Ebonni shares the importance of partnerships for events

AHF isn’t an island. In every event, Ebonni stresses the importance of considering small nonprofits, community leaders, and even local, statewide, and federal elected officials to become potential partners. In order for people to become advocates, they need to have a reason to believe in the cause. That starts with bringing them onboard and making people and organizations of all sizes and backgrounds feel that they’re a part of something historically significant and vital.

    [14:57] - Keeping Events Free

Why AHF makes their events free to the public

Kevin relates how the “why” of AHF’s free events is more important than the “how.” Every event, show, protest, and gathering is all about a specific cause or message. It’s about getting more people in seats so they have the opportunity to learn something. The fewer barriers there are to people attending, the more opportunities there are for that learning and transformation to take place.

In Detroit, history was made when Barry Gordy opened Motown Records back in 1960. More than just discovering great talent, Gordy built a systematic approach to launching superstars. His rigorous processes, technology, and development methods were the secret sauce behind legendary acts such as The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and Michael Jackson.

As a nod to the past, Detroit Podcast Studios leverages modern versions of Motown’s processes to launch today’s most compelling podcasts. What Motown was to musical artists, Detroit Podcast Studios is to podcast artists today. With over 75 combined years of experience in content development, audio production, music scoring, storytelling, and digital marketing, Detroit Podcast Studios provides full-service development, training, and production capabilities to take podcasts from messy ideas to finely tuned hits.

Here’s to making (podcast) history together.

Maxy and the Big Scary Noise

Maxy and the Big Scary Noise

Once upon a time, there was a cute little puppy named Maxy. He had big brown eyes and a fluffy tail. Maxy loved to play with his best friends, Rocky, Sarah, and Daisy the horse. They would run and play together in the meadow all day long.

One day, Maxy and his friends were playing in the meadow when they heard a big, scary noise. Maxy was so scared that he ran and hid under a bush. His friends, Rocky and Sarah, came to find him and asked "Maxy, what's wrong? Why are you hiding?"

Maxy told them about the big, scary noise and how he was too scared to come out. Rocky and Sarah decided to investigate, and they found out that the noise was just a storm coming. They reassured Maxy that it was just thunder and there was nothing to be scared of.

However, Maxy couldn't shake off the fear he felt. He couldn't sleep that night, thinking about the noise and what it could be. His Mummy Dog noticed his fear and sat with him, explaining that sometimes, things can seem scary but they are actually not dangerous. She told him that it's okay to be scared but it's important to face our fears and not be too scared to ask for help.

Maxy felt better after talking to his Mummy Dog and he was able to fall asleep. The next day, when he heard the thunder again, he didn't hide under the bush, instead he went to his Mummy Dog and held her paw, watching the storm together. Maxy learned that it's important to face our fears and not be too scared to ask for help. He also learned that sometimes, the things that seem scary turn out to be nothing at all, and it's important to not let our fears control us.
