On this transmission of the show we take a look into Darra the creative mind behind Dear Darling Design Studio. A beautiful award winning artist from Baltimore with an aesthetic that's both vintage and modern. Darra  places important messages that connect others and are often shared over and over on social media. In the episode she shares about what it was like to grow up with parents who were addicts during the beginning of the opioid crisis and died while she was young and how she found herself becoming a functional addict herself to a now sober mother, artist, and business owner. She has such an inspiring story and has put a spotlight on harder topics many times through her art and finds her truth connects her with her audience and them with one another. I love that because it reminds humans they are most certainly not alone in their experience. So enjoy getting to know Darra.

On this episode I catch up with Winter McQuinn about his second solo record "Move to the Trees" and it's upcoming release on Third Eye Stimuli. She uses a Mische technique involving building form on a colored ground with white paint followed by layering thin glazes of color with more white in between. As she explains it's like painting with light. This technique allows her to reveal the transcendental spiritual realms she has encountered. NPR describes the virtuoso Ron Gallo as an "insurgent poet and rock 'n' roll disruptor" and a "burst of literate electricity" I like those words but they don't even scratch the surface of Ron Gallo the person who came to the conversation as I had hoped - hyper aware and ready to be honest and vulnerable about his intentional juxtaposition of thought provoking lyrical content  - to in your face guitar riffs - then to motivational jams that will bring you joy. He is a creative chameleon so we got on just fine and had a psychedelic time exploring life's big questions and how we cope including the cosmic joke, love, creating, spirituality, and more.

Alyssia Strasser is a multidisciplinary California based artist who focuses on themes of the subconscious mind and the exploration of human expression. Her work includes these characters/bodies and a lot of times the characters are wandering in an unknown space leading somewhere, which represents the subconscious mind. In this space the characters come across trauma, memories, and subjective reality based on their perceptions. This alternate reality created in her work can be applied to our own daily lives. So enjoy all the mind stretching and share it with friends!
