Roxie Nafousi ON: Manifestation Masterclass & How to Set Better Intentions to Attract Your Dream Life

    enDecember 19, 2022

    Podcast Summary

    • Manifesting is About Self Belief, Empowerment and Making Things HappenManifesting requires us to connect with ourselves and take action, rather than simply relying on luck.

Roxie started her spiritual journey in her late twenties after she had gone through a period of addiction and depression. She decided to create a vision board for the start of the year, and one of her dreams was to connect with Jay Shetty. She was then invited onto his podcast, On Purpose, and was incredibly excited to be on it.Jay was fascinated by how Roxie had taken the concept of manifesting and made it practical and applicable. The two talked about manifesting and how it should come from a place of genuine connection and not just wanting something from someone.Roxie's journey teaches us that manifesting is about self belief, empowerment and making things happen, rather than simply relying on luck.

    • From Bullying and Self-Loathing to Manifesting a Positive ChangeSelf-development is the key to achieving positive change in our lives.

Roanne was a young Iraqi growing up in Oxford and endured a lot of bullying at school. The bullying and negative media towards Muslims caused Roanne to reject her identity and have a lot of self-loathing.She changed her name to Roxy and continued her journey of trying to escape from her identity. In 2018 she had a major rock bottom and tried to make a change by doing yoga, meditation and other self-development activities.Despite her best efforts, Roanne found herself back in the same situation - taking drugs and engaging in activities she regretted. She then found a podcast about manifesting and realised that self-development was the key to a positive change in her life.

    • Overcoming Addiction and Finding Self-Worth.Self-development and self-worth are essential for long-term recovery from addiction.

Roxie Nafousi had no confidence when she was younger and started drinking and taking drugs as a way to feel more confident. She soon realised that she had an addiction and by the age of 22, she was attending her first NA meeting.Despite this, it took her until 28 to give up drugs and alcohol, a period of time where she felt a lot of shame.Roxie then discovered self-development and self-worth and started her healing journey. She used techniques such as falling asleep to affirmation playlists to start this journey.Roxie made it clear that this is an ongoing journey which she is still on and will be for the rest of her life.

    • Unveiling Abundance and Opportunity Through Self-DevelopmentSelf-development is not a one-time event, but a lifelong journey of growth and manifestation.

Healing and self-development is a lifelong journey. With each layer you peel off, you open up potential for growth, abundance and opportunity. When you take a step back, you're still never going back as far as you went.Everything is either growing or dying at any given time. You can manifest negatively and positively.Subconsciously, you are already manifesting, whether you know the term or process or not.

    • Unveiling the Seven Steps to ManifestingBelieve in your own instincts to find the answers you seek.

Roxie had a passion to help others and was inspired to do a self-love workshop. She was surprised to see a hundred people attend her workshop, so she began to learn more about manifesting. She asked her audience if she should do a workshop on manifesting and they said yes.She thought of the Seven Steps to Manifesting while on a walk and was surprised that it came instinctively to her.She had a fear that people would realize that things were not in her Seven Steps, but found that everything fit one of the steps. Her workshop on manifesting was a success and she was able to help many people.

Hard work is the only way to achieve success and it is not magic.Manifesting requires constant self-development and everything you do is part of your practice.Manifesting is not about luck, it is about believing in yourself and making things happen. It is important to be clear and specific about your goals in order to manifest them.Visualizing and creating a vision board are important tools to help manifest your dreams.Practicing visualization meditation is a great way to stay focused on your goals.

    • Connecting Your Purpose to Service and EmpowermentOvercome fear and self-doubt to discover and focus on your unique gifts to serve and empower others.

Having a clear idea of what you want and how you want to show up in the world is important, even if you don't know what it exactly looks like. Our purpose in life is to help and serve others but often due to lack of time and resources, we are unable to help as many people as we want to.There is no need to set specific goals or numbers to manifest what you want, instead focus on how you can use the gifts you have been given in the service of others. It is natural to feel fear and self-doubt when we are not sure of what we want, but it is important to push through these feelings and focus on the bigger picture.Take a step back and think about what will make you feel connected to people and how you can reach out to those who don't have access to resources.Feeling lost is part of the journey, but having a clear idea of who you want to be and how you want to feel is the best starting point.

    • Uncovering Self-Worth Through ManifestationTo reach our full potential, we must learn to love and accept ourselves unconditionally.

We are all born with confidence and self-love, but life can make us feel like we are not enough.Unconditional love from our parents is rarely present in our lives, which can lead us to think that we have to behave in a certain way to be accepted. This can lead to a lack of self-worth as we become older and realise what we have lost.It is important to approach our healing journey with compassion, in order to start to undo our old conditioning and find our inner confidence. We may try to put on a facade of confidence to cope with the world, but it is important to find ways to address our insecurities.Manifestation can help us to learn to love ourselves and find the confidence we are looking for.

    • Overcoming Fear and Doubt to Conquer CancerEmpower yourself to take charge of your life and wellbeing through self-care and self-love, and seek the support of dedicated professionals to help you reach your goals.

Fear of failure and doubt can limit us from achieving our goals.Looking at the accomplishments of others can lead us to become small-minded.We need to remember to keep a child-like perspective and vibrance in our lives and work.Self-care and self-love are essential to overcoming fear and doubt.Innovative research and dedicated doctors are working to empower everyone to conquer cancer.Therapy can provide helpful coping skills and support during difficult times.

    • Cultivating Self-Love for a Balanced LifeSelf-love is about honoring where we are today and where we want to be tomorrow, so prioritize self-care to achieve balance in life.

Everyday presents an opportunity to nurture our self-love or not.To cultivate self-love we must become mindful and aware of our decisions, from how we start our day to how we end it.Self-love is about honoring where we are today and where we want to be tomorrow. We must practice self-care by engaging in activities that make us feel better physically and emotionally.Prioritizing our needs helps us achieve balance in life.Having competing priorities doesn't mean they can't coexist, they just need to be managed.

    • Can Clarity on Priorities Help You Create Progress in Life?Having clarity on your priorities and a purpose that you are passionate about can help you make decisions and create progress in life. Vision boards and manifesting should not include too many things at once, as it can be difficult to manage.

It is important to have clarity on your priorities, so you can create progress in your life, whether it be family, career, or other areas.Having a purpose that you are passionate about is key, so you don't feel like you have to give up other areas of your life.Your priorities can change day to day and week to week, so it is important to be comfortable with that.It is not possible to prioritize everything at once, so it is important to be realistic about what you can and cannot do.Having a priority can help you make decisions, like what to eat or whether you should break up with your partner.Vision boards and manifesting should not include too many things at the same time, as it can be difficult to manage.

    • Can We Find Balance Between Being a Good Parent and Pursuing Our Dreams?Parenting requires unconditional love and space to let children grow and develop independence, while taking time to show affection.

Parenting is a multifaceted job that requires unconditional love and space to let your child grow.It is important to find a balance between pursuing your own dreams and being a good parent.Roxie's son Wolf is a source of joy for her and she loves to see him happy.Even though she is away from him often, she's still able to give him the support and love he needs.Wolf has learned to be independent, but it is important to take time to show affection.Roxie has taken lessons from her own mother's example and has been able to navigate the difficult balance of motherhood and work with success.

    • Taking On a New Name: Define Who You Want to BeIt is important to trust in your own judgement and prioritize yourself in order to be a good parent, as children learn more from your actions than words.

We all have different definitions of what a good parent is and it's important to trust in your own judgement. It is ok to prioritize ourselves, as our children learn more from our actions than words. It is important to define who you want to be and live up to that definition.Trying to compare our definitions to others only adds unnecessary pressure to our lives. It is ok to make a big identity shift, such as taking on a new name, as we grow older.Taking on a new name can help us step into a character of ourselves we want to be.

    • Aligning Your Behaviour with Your True SelfUnderstand who you want to be and align your behaviour with that to create a safe space for yourself.

    • Liberate Yourself From Seeking Validation and Manifest Your Goals With Structure and ClarityManifestation requires a structured process and system, and understanding that not everyone will like us allows us to be our true selves and reach our goals.

It is okay to not be liked by everyone. We can love and admire people, but there will always be those who don't like them.Understanding this can be liberating as it allows us to be ourselves without seeking external validation. When we are in line with our true self, the universe will start to align and support us.Manifestation has to be done with a structured process and system, and not just magic.Part of manifesting is to do things we don't want to and still excel at them.Being clear with our vision will help to do the things that don't make us comfortable, but are necessary to reach our goals.

    • Embrace the Spectrum of Emotions and Conquer EnvyUse envy as a motivator to push you beyond your comfort zone and heal within yourself.

It is important to be gentle with ourselves and to experience the full spectrum of emotions. We should take risks, even if it means facing rejection or failure. We need to be motivated and committed to going beyond our comfort zone.Envy comes from a place of fear and scarcity. We should not be ashamed of feeling envious and should instead use it to identify what we need to heal within ourselves.Envy can be a source of inspiration if we use it to our advantage.

    • Transforming Envious Thoughts Into InspirationCelebrating and supporting each other's successes is essential for maintaining motivation and achieving our goals.

Envy can be a block to achieving our goals, because it can take away our motivation and focus. We can choose to transform our envious thoughts into inspiration by focusing on the beauty of the situation.Celebrating and supporting each other's successes is important, as it can help to lift our spirits and keep us motivated.Knowing our values can help us to focus our envy on things that are important to us, rather than become overwhelmed by it.Taking joy in other people's losses can be damaging to ourselves, as we will judge ourselves in the same way.Celebrating and supporting each other can help us to manifest our goals and create a positive environment.

    • Embracing Abundance and Discomfort to Achieve Your DreamsSelf-trust, self-discipline, and self-respect are essential for achieving your dreams and taking charge of your own destiny.

It is important to have a mission and help others, and for every coach, healer, and author, there are thousands of people eager to learn.Abundant mindset is necessary to appreciate the other healers, even if their style is different from yours.Comfort is necessary for self-care, but discomfort builds self-respect.Going through tough times helps build self-respect, self-worth, and self-belief.Following through with things you say you will do builds self-trust and self-discipline.Having self-trust, self-discipline and self-respect leads to empowerment and helps to achieve your dreams.

    • Discover the Courage to Live Your Life MeaningfullyFind the courage to make decisions that are right for you, and work hard for something meaningful to manifest the life you want.

It's important to take time to think about what's meaningful to you and what you value in life.Don't do hard things just to fit in or because someone else wants you to.It's much more rewarding to do hard things that are meaningful to you.Taking the time to make decisions that are right for you instead of trying to please others can be liberating.Working hard for something meaningful will help to manifest the life you want. It's important to find the courage to be yourself in public, no matter what other people think.

    • Unlocking Your Worthy Desires Through ManifestationBelieve in yourself and focus on your unique purpose to manifest what you desire in life.

Manifestation is the process of creating something in your life by believing it can be achieved. The best advice you can receive is to believe you are worthy of receiving what you desire. The worst advice is to think that if you focus on something hard enough it will appear.Every person has a unique purpose in life and it is important to identify and focus on it.To help you focus on your goals, create a vision board in whatever way works best for you.To live in harmony with others, avoid negative comments and focus on being kind.

Dr. Rahul Jandial: What Your Nightmares Are Trying to Tell You & How to Know Which Dreams You Need to Pay Attention to

Dr. Rahul Jandial: What Your Nightmares Are Trying to Tell You & How to Know Which Dreams You Need to Pay Attention to

Do you often remember your dreams?

What was the last dream you can remember?

Today, let's welcome Dr. Rahul Jandial. Rahul is a dual-trained brain surgeon and neuroscientist based at City of Hope in Los Angeles. He leads the Jandial Lab, which explores the intersection of neurobiology and cancer. Beyond his research, Dr. Jandial is dedicated to global health, performing pediatric neurosurgery in charity hospitals across South America and Eastern Europe. He is also the author of the book "This Is Why You Dream," which delves into the science and significance of dreaming.

Jay and Rahul explore the significance of dreams and their impact on our lives, and that the brain is highly active during sleep, generating as much electricity as when awake. This activity suggests that dreaming is not a passive process but an essential function for the brain, helping it process and rehearse experiences, emotions, and creativity.

There are common themes in dreams, such as nightmares, erotic dreams, and motifs like falling or being chased. Rahul highlights that these themes are linked to the brain's imaginative and emotional networks, which are more active during dreaming. Nightmares, for instance, play a crucial role in developing a sense of self and other in children, while in adults, they can indicate unresolved emotional issues or trauma. He also discusses the concept of lucid dreaming, where one becomes aware of dreaming and can exert some control over the dream narrative.

    In this interview, you'll learn:

    How to enhance dream recall

    How to induce lucid dreaming

How to utilize dreams for creative problem solving

How to reduce nightmare in children

How to cultivate positive morning thoughts

How to improve sleep quality for better dreams

Embrace the power of your dreams to boost creativity and emotional well-being. Take the first step tonight for a healthier, more vibrant tomorrow!

    Jay Shetty

Why There’s No Such thing As the Right Person at the Wrong Time & Why Your Ex Was Never The One

Why There’s No Such thing As the Right Person at the Wrong Time & Why Your Ex Was Never The One

Do you believe in "right person, wrong time"?

Do you have realistic expectations about dating?

Today, Jay will discuss the popular notion of the "right person at the wrong time." He explains that this idea often stems from nostalgia, which can distort our memories by emphasizing the positive aspects of past experiences and minimizing the negatives. This romanticized view of the past can prevent us from addressing present realities and hinder our ability to form healthy relationships.

Jay also talks about the various factors that influence relationships, such as a person's relationship status, goals, and healing journey. He argues that a person's current circumstances, such as being newly single or single for a long time, significantly shape who they are and their readiness for a relationship. Furthermore, in a healthy relationship, partners should respect and support each other's goals rather than expecting complete alignment. He also highlights the importance of patience and mutual support in the ongoing process of healing from past traumas.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

How to align goals in a relationship

    How to manage expectations

How to build a healthy relationship

    How to embrace new possibilities

By letting go of romanticized notions of the past and embracing the present, we open ourselves to genuine connections. Be open, curious, and positive about dating, we can find meaningful and fulfilling relationships.

Melinda Gates: Why Your Perfectionism Has Been Draining You & 7 Reasons You Should Spend Time Alone in Silence Today

Melinda Gates: Why Your Perfectionism Has Been Draining You & 7 Reasons You Should Spend Time Alone in Silence Today

    Are you a perfectionist?

Do you ever spend time alone in silence?

Today, Jay sits down with Melinda French Gates, co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and founder of Pivotal Ventures to talk about her journey from studying computer science at Duke University to working at Microsoft, and eventually transitioning into philanthropy.

Melinda highlights the importance of goal setting and quiet reflection, practices instilled in her from a young age; the challenges women and people of color face in achieving equality, emphasizing the need for more inclusive policies and support systems; and the importance of diverse representation in leadership and decision-making roles.

Melinda shared insights into her parenting approach, emphasizing the importance of instilling values of kindness, responsibility, and giving back to society. She also shared her journey of grappling with the decision to publicly support contraceptive access, which conflicted with her Catholic faith. This decision involved deep reflection, discussions with family and friends, and a significant amount of time spent questioning and reconciling her beliefs.

Later in the conversation, Melinda highlighted several key lessons she learned later in life, such as the realization that the world is not equally accessible to everyone, particularly women and people of color. This understanding fueled her advocacy for creating more inclusive environments and breaking down barriers that prevent these groups from reaching their full potential.

    In this interview, you'll learn:

    How to embrace change positively

    How to spend time alone

How to set and achieve goals

    How to overcome imposter syndrome

How to teach children the value of service

How to build a culture of giving

How to foster kindness and gratitude

Take a moment to reflect, give yourself grace, and celebrate your authentic self. Let’s grow together, one imperfect step at a time.

Why Love Is Not Enough & 5 Things to Focus On More in Dating & Relationships

Do you and your partner share values?

How do you support each other emotionally?

Today, Jay taps into the  idea that love alone is not sufficient to sustain a healthy relationship. While love is important, other elements such as shared values, emotional maturity, consistent patterns of behavior, and trust are crucial for long-lasting partnerships. Societal norms often romanticize love, leading people to overlook these essential factors.

Jay discusses the significance of understanding and respecting each other's values, as well as recognizing and addressing patterns of behavior. Emotional maturity, which involves managing and expressing emotions healthily, is highlighted as a key component of a stable relationship. Support and partnership are deemed more critical than love alone.

    How to develop emotional maturity

How to support your partner's emotional growth

How to build trust in your relationship
