    64. 'Nature is God' by Louise Bennet ... One poem ... one woman ... one BENEFIT.

    64. 'Nature is God' by Louise Bennet ... One poem ... one woman ... one BENEFIT.

What a joy it is to bring Louise Bennet back to you, although as you will learn in this episode, the host of the show errs on a number of occasions by Freudianly calling her Louise BENEFIT!! Well, was it a humble mistake or was Bernie sincerely giving Louise a new identity that summarises what she truly gives us?
Afterall, your feedback from previous episodes suggests that Louise B has already brought incredible worth to over 8000 listeners. While this episode only covers one more additional poem, the conversation it created is so enlightening. Her poem is called 'Nature is God' and I can honestly say that the insight of this incredible 34-year-old woman might give you the virtual evidence you need to be convinced we are all connected. Louise explains that the plants, the trees, the animals and humanity consume the same air, the same sunlight and same water sources. These elements shape all living things.
Whatever is the Force of Nature that created the beasts of the savannah or the fish of the deep seas is the same force that created us. We are all part of Nature. As we look to the stars at nighttime, we see Nature once again on display. It is everywhere. Is it part of us? Does it flow through us. Is it within us? Is it us ?
One poem ... one woman ... one clear definitive answer.
With the added intelligence of Chip as co-host, this discussion reaches liberating heights which support the Vincent Freeman adage, who once said ... "They say every atom in our bodies was once a part of a star. Maybe, I'm not leaving. Maybe I'm going home". I suspect you will have a question to answer at the end of this episode !!

    63. Louise Bennet - Her POEMS Captured Her Cancerous Journey and Now Coach Us About Life!

    63. Louise Bennet - Her POEMS Captured Her Cancerous Journey and Now Coach Us About Life!

Episode 60 will tell you the story of a girl, who was sexually traumatised between the ages of 11 to 13. It will explain how her experience inspired a constant feeling that the world was unsafe. The only way, that a teenage Louise Bennet could cope was to combat that feeling by becoming EVERYONE'S PROTECTOR. The problem was that Louise's friends and romantic interests didn't want a Protector. Consequently, her relationships often ended in strain, stress and struggle. She even blames the demise of her young marriage on her overprotective ways, although she is thankful that her married years gave her a most precious daughter.  Instinctively, Louise knew that this trauma inspired behavior was suffocating her life. Little did she know that it was in fact destroying her cells. That's what Louise believes. Louise was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. As the photo shows, it has already taken her right mammary.

Yet, her response to this arduous, chaotic and painful journey has led to her discovery of her higher true self. She is now a person driven by love as a purpose. In episode 60, you met an ANGEL OF JOY already on the pathway to becoming a liberated person ... and there of course lays the paradox.

The learnings from that episode were profound, but little did we know that virtually her entire adult journey has been documented in the form of brilliant, graphic, extraordinary poetry and prose. Each poem extraordinarily captures the state, the fight, the light that Louise was experiencing in that moment. Each poem is a precious gift describing life in that moment. The learnings encapsulated in Louise's writings are powerful and potent.

This is a unique episode, in which a young woman shares her most private writings, so that you the listener may discover wisdoms without encountering the potential torment that has intruded Louise's life. Still, the miracle needs to be understood. Why is it that Louise doesn't it see as an unworthy intervention? Her cancer is welcome, as it sheds the trauma of her past leaving her to see the beauty and the love that truly defines her.

If you would like a copy of Louise's extraordinary anthology of poems heard on this podcast plus an understanding of what she was teaching us, then simply text Bernie on +61 412982444 or email him on ... bernie.kelly@outlook.com.

Today's Bible verse is Luke 7:9 from the King James Version.

Athaliah - The Books of 2 Kings & 2 Chronicles

In this Bible Story, we learn about Queen Athaliah. Her foul heart turns the entire nation of Judah corrupt and depressed. She rules to serve herself, and kills her grandchildren in attempts to secure her power. However, she overlooked one grandchild - Joash. This story is inspired by 2 Chronicles 21-23 & 2 Kings 8:16-29, 9:14-29, 11:1-21. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.

Today's Bible verse is 2 Chronicles 22:10 from the King James Version.

Episode 140: Athaliah had finally fallen and Joash was now king. Only a boy, he leaned on Jehoiada for guidance as he ruled the kingdom. And as he grew, God blessed him with many children and a thriving kingdom. Looking out one day, Joash saw the temple of God in decay, that very moment he started planning its repair. After Joash rallied the people and the work was done, Jehoiada died and was given great honor. Now without the guidance of his mentor and substitute father, the king was led astray and the kingdom was led back into sin.

    44. Thomas Nyawir - Africa's Biggest Slum Was His Home. Now it is His CALLING!

Kibera is now Africa's biggest slum with over 1,000,000 residents who earn less than US$2 per day. A family of 7, might live in 9-12 sq metres floorspace that is encased by corrugated iron walls and a leaking roof. Such families, all know Thomas Nyawir. If they knew of Mother Teresa, then surely, they would see Thomas as her brother.

He, with his wife Judy, are the Founders of The Mirror of Hope, an outstanding charitable organization that sponsors Kiberian children through quality Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education. At time of writing, nearly 130 children are active beneficiaries. In addition, the Mirror of Hope's SILC PROJECT supports women living in Kibera, most of whom as the primary or sole breadwinners are also HIV diagnosed. Through Thomas inspired projects, these women are equipped with micro finances and business skills to create a visionary exit for a new beginning.

When Thomas walks through the slum, the community rises. He has a Nelson Mandela status amongst his people, and they are his people for Thomas himself was once part of the community. He, however, was a fortunate one, whose innate talents were recognised by a wealthy visitor who sponsored Thomas out of the slum and into a new existence. For Thomas, this is a Pay-it Forward vocation. For the residents he is their way forward.

A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE has been blessed with Thomas and Judy's friendship for 12 years now, perhaps longer. Annually, Thomas welcomed 40 to 90 Australian school children to East Africa and gave them an education about the Kiberian world that only few of them realised existed. Some of the experiences had by our Aussie students is now legendary. The visit to the resident's homes was enough to ignite the quality of gratefulness permanently, while the teaming with their Kiberian peers to form a choir and then three days later lay down their own version of WE ARE THE WORLD has become a life memory. (Watch this!)

Rarely, has A JOURNEY WITH BERNIE been so privileged to welcome a man whose career and life has been so defined by love in action. It is not possible to put into words what you will learn from this episode, except to say that it comes from a source that very few people on this planet will ever know.

Sermon on the Mount - The Book of Matthew

Sermon on the Mount - The Book of Matthew

In this Bible Story, Jesus climbs a small hill and preaches to thousands of people about the kingdom of God. He speaks about the backwards economy of God’s blessings. That the poor in spirit, meek, and mourning are the ones to inherit ultimate blessing from God. All these things cause awe and wonder in those listening. This story is inspired by Matthew 5-7 & Luke 6:37-42. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.

Today's Bible verse is Matthew 5:44 from the King James Version.

Episode 182: As the crowds gathered around Jesus He began to teach them. He taught them about righteousness, prayer, and love for one another. Some were amazed and listened with eager ears while others were firm against Him with grimaces on their faces. Where will we stand as we listen to His words?

Building a Strong Foundation: 7 Pillars for a Balanced Support System with Your Spouse

When people think about building a balanced support system with their spouse when they've been married for years without one, you can imagine they're not all fired up about the idea of digging in.

It does sound a bit exhausting.

    But what's your alternative?

Continuing on the way things are?

How about divvying up all of your things and moving on? Our brains will tell us this would be much easier, and maybe that is the answer you choose, but trust me, having been through divorce and having coached many others through the process, it's not any easier than doing the work of cleaning up what you've already got.

This week I take a relationship concept for our friendships from Rober Waldinger and Marc Schulz's book The Good Life and apply it to our intimate relationship.

In the episode, I share the following:

    • What I'm calling the 7 Intimate Relationship Pillars
    • How to start the process of tackling each of these areas so you can start re-building your intimate relationship
    • Teach you how to implement a plan to stay consistent and create success

This week in AwakenYou in your marriage, Episode 116: Building a Strong Foundation: 7 Pillars for a Balanced Support System with Your Spouse, I share a simple and implementable process that will have you feeling rejuvenated about how to approach re-connecting with your spouse.
