Never Tell People These 4 Secrets

Never Tell People These 4 Secrets

It’s popular and trendy at the moment to share all, to be open and accept vulnerability, but Rob wants to warn you about the four things you should never share about yourself. Listen in to hear what they are and why it’s important you always keep these things to yourself!

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Your goals. It’s great to share your vision, purpose and cause because it’s general and meaningful. But your specific goals should not be shared as most people don’t want you to succeed!

    • What you like and loved about your exes. No one really wants to know especially not your new partner!

    • Anything someone trusts you with you should take to your grave. Someone else’s secret isn’t for you to share and keeping it to yourself proves you are to be trusted.

    • Never share your net-worth. General numbers are fine but never be upfront about your actual net-worth.

    BEST MOMENTS

“These should stay secret, and you should take them to your grave!”

“Don’t share on you goals, work on them privately, secretly and quietly”

“Let your results speak for themselves”

Recurring Income: The More You Unlearn The More You Earn [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors]

Join Rob today as he talks about how to create sustainable recurring income. Including, how to break bad habits, what rules to ignore and what ones to follow and how to appreciate wealth in terms of your wellbeing as well as finance!

Learn what it’s really like to be a top entrepreneur and how to get there from founders of startups like Monzo, BrewDog, Jo Malone, Slack, and Lastminute.com

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • If you can break bad habits, including emotionally spending and how to invest your cash, this will help you sustain and grow your income.
    • People often separate finance and wellbeing but they are intrinsically linked. You don’t have to focus on one or the other, you can work on both at the same time. Money alone won’t buy you happiness, but it certainly helps.
    • You become those around you, spend time with those you want to be, those who share the values you do, especially around money and finance. This will impact your own personal happiness and wealth.
    • Stop relying on one single income source. This makes you vulnerable to the disruptive world we live in.
    • Money is an enabler and exaggerates who you already are. If you have money and are already giving you will give more, if you like cars and get more money you will probably buy more cars! Money is a tool, it creates and does what you want it to.
    • The law of gratitude means you get more of what you are grateful for. What you appreciate, grows, so focus on the things you want to grow-start investing and gaining assets.
    • Rob believes the secret to life is facing your fears. We all have the 'what ifs', fears and 'I shouldn’ts'. But what if you were authentically yourself? Imagine what you could create and what impact you could have on the world.

    BEST MOMENTS

“The more you earn the longer you live”

“Invest a third, save a third and spend a third”

“Money is a measure, is a store of value…it’s not a basta*d, it cannot change you”

    “What you appreciate, appreciates”

922 In Order to Be Successful You Must Do This: James Altucher

922 In Order to Be Successful You Must Do This: James Altucher

Want to be successful? You gotta fail first.

If you want to accomplish anything great in life, it's most likely not going to be an easy path to get there.

Sometimes, things fall into place for us. But more often than not, things fall out of place, and we find ourselves sitting in failure. Sometimes it's our fault, sometimes it's not, but whatever the case, failures are hard to handle.

I myself understand failure. I used to live on my sister's coach. My injury immobilized me, and for months, I wallowed in self-pity. Finally, I realized that my failures and hardships didn't hinder me from greatness. My sister kicked me out, and I learned to fight for myself again.

My guest today knows all about failure and how it can set you up for success.

In addition to having incredible hair, James Altucher is an American hedge fund manager, entrepreneur, author, venture capitalist, and podcaster. He has published 20 books, and he is a contributor to publications including The Financial Times and The Huffington Post. He is also the host of The James Altucher Show in which he interviews innovators, creators, and just all around amazing people. James has founded or cofounded more than 20 companies, 17 of which have failed, but he hasn't let this slow him down.

Failure is a big part of James' story. In fact, I believe that anyone who is remotely successful has probably experienced an extraordinary amount of failure in their life. Why? Because overcoming failure is a step towards success.

At one point, James lost almost all his money. He was completely broke. He had less than two hundred dollars in his bank account. But somehow, he was able to build his business back up, and change that two hundred dollars into fifteen million.

Want to learn his secret? Then tune into Episode 922 and get ready to be blown away by entrepreneur, author, and hair inspiration, James Altucher.

    • When was the last time you cried? (6:01)
    • What are you proud of yourself for and what do you regret as a father? (10:08)

    918 Become the Chess Player

    918 Become the Chess Player

Don't settle for being a pawn.

If you've played chess before, then you'll know there's several different pieces in the game. You have the queen and king, obviously the most important pieces, and then on the other side of the spectrum, you have the pawns.

Pawns can't do a lot. They have limited movement, and a lot of them get knocked over pretty early. There's always the chance they could win the game, but that chance is pretty low.

When it comes to investing your money, it's easy to be a pawn and not a player. It's amazing how much compounded interest you can earn from investment, but it's equally upsetting how much of that interest can be negated by fees.

If you don't know what you're doing, you'll probably become a pawn in someone else's game.

On this Five Minute Friday episode, I revisit a conversation with legendary Tony Robbins who explains the necessity in being knowledgeable, strategic, and intentional when it comes to investing your money.

If you've listened to The School of Greatness podcast before, you've probably heard me mention Tony Robbins. I've had him on the show several times, and he is an absolute legend.

Tony Robbins is an entrepreneur, best-selling author, philanthropist, and the nation’s #1 Life and Business Strategist. Author of six internationally bestselling books, including the New York Times #1 best-sellers MONEY: Master the Game and UNSHAKEABLE, Tony has empowered more than 50 million people from 100 countries through his audio, video, and life training programs.

Tony uses his money to help others and give back to humanity. Once he got rid of the scarcity mindset, he was able to become the man we know him as today.

On February 27th, 2020, Tony Robbins and fellow entrepreneur Dean Graziosi are hosting a free webinar training for anyone who wants to learn how they can be successful in the exploding digital economy. If you're looking to follow in their footsteps, this is an opportunity you can't pass up.

Thinking about investing but not sure how? You know, 96% of mutual funds don't beat the market. That leaves a 4% margin for you to succeed. If you want to win the game, you're going to have to be a player, not a pawn.

Join me on Episode 918 to learn how with icon Tony Robbins.

905 Grant Cardone: Overcome Insecurities and Build Your Billion Dollar Brand

905 Grant Cardone: Overcome Insecurities and Build Your Billion Dollar Brand

Even the most successful people are insecure.

There is one guest I keep having on the podcast who is unlike any other.

He always says exactly what he thinks. He talks about money in a real, relatable way. And when he comes on the show, he shows his soft side and cries.

Yes, I'm talking about my good friend, Grant Cardone.

Grant was in town a couple of weeks ago and stopped by to record an episode with me. Since this is becoming a yearly tradition, we covered a lot of what he has learned in the last year as he has scaled his businesses. It was amazing to hear his perspective on what can be accomplished in a year (and a decade.)

CEO of CardoneCapital, international speaker, entrepreneur and author of The 10X Rule & creator of 21 best-selling business programs, Grant Cardone owns & operates seven privately held companies and a $1.5B portfolio of multifamily properties. Named the #1 marketer to watch by Forbes Magazine, Cardone is also the founder of the The 10X Movement & The 10 Growth Conference, the world’s largest business & entrepreneur conference.

I love pushing Grant to think bigger about his already huge goals. In this conversation, he opened up about how his wife Elena pushes him in this way, what his daughters have taught him about fun and love, and why insecurity is still a huge factor in his life.

901 Rob Dyrdek: From Small Town Skateboarder to Media Mogul Empire

901 Rob Dyrdek: From Small Town Skateboarder to Media Mogul Empire

I KNOW I ALWAYS SAY I'M EXCITED ABOUT EACH EPISODE OF THE SCHOOL OF GREATNESS.

But I’m REALLY excited about this episode.

And not just because the guest is another Ohio boy! (But I wore one of my best Ohio shirts and hats when he came by the studio.)

You probably already know him from his multiple hit shows on MTV. Or from his long list of world records in skateboarding. Or for his incredible branding with labels like DC shoes.

Even if you’ve somehow never heard of Rob Dyrdek, you’re in for a huge treat.

Rob is cool for many reasons. But I literally couldn’t stop asking him questions during this interview because he is so SMART when it comes to business, entrepreneurship, focus, habits, and vision. Just a few of my favorite things 🙂

Rob and I dove deep into all these topics, as well as the real motivation behind all of them – to create happiness now. We recorded this episode a few years ago, but I wanted to bring it back because what Rob teaches is still so relevant and powerful for entrepreneurs today.

I know you’ll get just as much out of it as I did in Episode 901 with the legendary Rob Dyrdek.

    • How do you describe yourself and your bio? (35:26)
    • How do you manage your energy so that you're always full? (40:33)
    • What are you non-negotiable daily habits? (58:46)

    • How Rob got royalties on a third of DC shoes' entire line in his mid-twenties (4:45)
    • What the term "stirfry" means in entrepreneurship (5:52)
    • What the difference is between a business and an idea (12:08)
    • Why Rob embraces stalkers (16:24)
    • The story behind his sister getting married inside the Fantasy Factory (19:20)
    • How Fantasy Factory almost didn't make it on air (26:45)
    • The story of how Rob almost died surfing with Laird Hamilton (33:38)
    • How to be happy everyday (38:18)
    • The key to living a balanced and full life (43:20)
    • How Rob's life changed when he met Tony Robbins (43:52)
    • Why it's so important to pick one thing to master (44:50)
    • Plus much more...

802 Grant Cardone: Think Bigger and Take the Risk

    STOP PLAYING SMALL.
A lot of times when we think about growth, we think small. We say, “How can I make thirty thousand more a year?” Instead, we should say, “How can make 300 thousand more a year.” You’ve got to unlock yourself from your budget mentality. Other people may not understand, but you can’t get knocked off course. If you’re destined for greatness, you shouldn’t settle for anything less. On today’s episode of The School of Greatness, I talk about playing big with one of the top entrepreneurs in the world: Grant Cardone. Grant Cardone is the author of eight business books, thirteen business programs, and is the CEO of seven privately held companies. Forbes calls him one of the top social media business influencers in the world. Cardone founded and manages a real estate investment firm, Cardone Capital, with $1Billion assets under management. He also travels the world consulting Fortune 500 companies, small business owners, startups and governments on business expansion. One of his enterprises recently hosted The 10X Growth Conference at Miami Marlins Park in Miami, Florida with over 34,000 business people and entrepreneurs in attendance from over fifty countries. Grant Cardone wants you to 10X your business, 10X your income and 10X your life. Everyone is underestimating themselves.

798 Spend With Joy with Ramit Sethi

SPEND ON THE THINGS YOU LOVE.
We all have an area of life we love spending money on. For me, it’s relationships. For you, it could be travel, food, wellness or something else. This is called your “money dial.” Once you figure out your money dial, you can spend intentionally on that rather than spending lots of money on everything. For this Five Minute Friday, I revisited a conversation I had with Ramit Sethi where he shared about his concept of “money dials” and how to spend money on the things that bring you joy. Ramit says that we should cut back spending on things we don’t care about but spend without apology on the area that makes us the happiest. We can also stop judging other people for having different money dials than us. Learn how to identify your money dial and how it can take your life to the next level in Episode 798.
