    Dungeons and Dragons Lore

    Dungeons and Dragons Lore
Natalie is joined by Shardae and Lyssa of The Slovenly Trulls podcast to talk about how the lore surrounding D&D also perpetuates misogyny within gaming. Shardae and Lyssa will bring their expertise on specific tropes written into the lore and playing guides published by Wizards of the Coast that serve as a reminder that the game has some inherent rules and story pieces that are rooted in misogyny, racism, and other oppressive systems. The three women will then celebrate some of the game masters and live play streams who are doing the work to rewrite the narrative that only white men know how to play D&D and enjoy it. Those examples include Dimension 20, Critical Role, DesiQuest, and specific people like Aabria Iyengar.

    Incels

    Incels
JD Ross (Weirdwide) did in-depth research for an episode on his podcast about incels and incel culture. After listening, Natalie knew this was a topic that needed to be covered because who is a better example of people living comfortably with misogyny than the incels of the internet? JD and Natalie will discuss how the term incel (involuntary celibate) was coined and how forums like Reddit allowed for men who have violent resentment towards women were able to form a community online. The entitlement that is featured in incel men will also be discussed as well as how their culture revolves around fantasies of violence against women, getting even, resenting that they’re undesirable, and sometimes carrying out their violent thoughts.Natalie will also express her fears on how misogynistic or incel mindsets are starting to become mainstream and JD will validate her fear by talking about the well-known men and leaders who help incels perpetuate their warped beliefs.

Diversity in the Board Game Industry
Kervin of For Why Games joins Natalie to talk about his experiences advocating for diversity within board game development. He explains the steps and measures he took to create his first game, Allow Me to Mansplain and the ways he intentionally crafted rules and gameplay to foster discussions around the concept of mansplaining. The episode also dives into what is currently taken into consideration when it comes to diversity in game creation and where we need to head next to make sure gaming is a welcoming place for everyone. Natalie and Kervin also share their personal experiences of wanting a safe, diverse community to play games with and what it's like when you’re having a hard time finding it or you’re not being heard when explaining why the current situation isn’t making you feel safe and welcomed.

    Nutrition Education Gaps

    Nutrition Education Gaps
Natalie is joined by Jenn Trepeck from the podcast, Salad with a Side of Fries. Jenn will be filling in some of the education gaps we as a society have about nutrition and how it relates to the lack of education we have about our mental and emotional wellness. Both women will give some insight to their relationship with food and the emotions that go along with planning on what to eat. There will also be information on how the quality of the food we were offered is based more on economic value than on health value. And of course, we will talk about how misogyny has affected the food we consume.

    Making Space for Our Voices

    Making Space for Our Voices
Jennifer Cooper (Jennifer Magazine) joins Natalie to talk about what it takes to carve space out for women’s media. They talk about the instances they felt they were taking up too much space or didn’t have space offered to them, Another point during the episode is how sometimes it isn’t just the systematic barriers that hold us back from having women’s stories being told but the imposter syndrome and internalized voices that make us feel like our stories aren’t worth telling. They also make sure to fit in some instances to celebrate each other for the work they’re doing on this journey into independently ran women’s media.

    ADHD and Sexuality

    ADHD and Sexuality
Ellen Moore (The Slut Show with Ellen Moore) joins Natalie for another fantastic conversation about sexuality. This time, the women will explore how ADHD affects how you experience sex and intimate relationships. They will share their own experiences with how their brain functions during moments of pleasure, both inside and outside of the bedroom. They will also talk on the connections made between ADHD and feeling disconnected to your partners and other relationships. One thing they’ve learned through their experiences is that you can’t expect to understand yourself sexually if you’re not understanding yourself mentally.

    Marginalized Joy

    Marginalized Joy
Julia Washington (Pop Culture Makes Me Jealous) is back this week to discuss how misogyny makes it incredibly hard for women and other marginalized groups to experience joy. Natalie and Julia discuss how women’s hobbies and interests aren’t taken seriously and how happiness has been weaponized against women making them feel uncomfortable when they are experiencing pride within themselves. Other topics include how racism, classism, and fatphobia also contribute to marginalized joy. The main gist of the episode is there is a lot of gatekeeping happening when it comes to who gets to enjoy their life.

    The Real Housewives

    The Real Housewives
Chris Derosa (Fixing Famous People) is a tv producer who has worked with some of your favorite housewives! Natalie dives back into the Bravo-verse to pick Chris’s brain about the value The Real Housewives franchise has brought to television and how they are the representation we have of older women in media. From health scares, unemployments, jail sentences, divorces, and other life hurdles, The Real Housewives has given a platform for women to talk about their life stories. The two friends also touch on how The Real Housewives may promote this idea that we always have to keep up with everyone around us and stunt for Instagram, but they also offer an example of people who are confident enough to not need to race their peers to the top. Also, are The Real Housewives conflict resolution icons? We know for a fact that they are women living loudly and boldly!
