A Great Kings Downfall - The Book of 2 Chronicles

A Great Kings Downfall - The Book of 2 Chronicles

In this Bible Story, we learn about the faithful reign of King Uzziah. Although he does not finish well, the majority of his life was spent under the wisdom and guidance of God. He fortifies Judah, and protects them from harm. Then, his son Jotham follows by restoring Israel back to a loving relationship with God. This story is inspired by 2 Chronicles 26-27 & 2 Kings 15:1-7, 32-38. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.

Today's Bible verse is 2 Chronicles 26:18 from the King James Version.

Episode 146: Ahaz son of Jotham did not share his father’s will to follow God, instead, he followed evil. He followed the footsteps of the kings of Israel and the wickedness of their neighbors. He even killed his own children as a sacrifice to foreign gods. God would not tolerate this and so he sent the armies of Aram and Israel to raid them and take captive their men. But even in this punishment, God had a plan to protect those who were innocent and to remove those who led them astray.

Putting Christ On Display: To The Career & Family Man (RAISING THE STANDARD)

Moving along through the path of a man's life, we next stop at the years of "career and family man."  The point at which this phase starts may change from man to man.  But the years are marked by marriage, raising a family, holding down a job, buying a home, and many other important milestones.  This is most likely the majority of where a man will spend his days.  It is important to not just focus on his own wealth and accumulation of "stuff."  To serve his family and others well.  And to stay pure and holy especially in terms of the issues of lust and sexuality.  This is an important stage of life to make sure the foundation in Christ remains solid.  Retirement and the last phase of life lies right around the corner...

Netflix’s Last Chance U! Jeff Carpenter from seasons 3 and 4. What was Jason Brown like and what was it like to go from anonymity to known world-wide overnight? Episode 1 of 2

Dive into the captivating world of Netflix's docuseries, Last Chance U, as we embark on a two-part journey with Jeff Carpenter, a pivotal figure from seasons 3 and 4. In this opening episode, we explore the intriguing dynamics of the show and the extraordinary experiences of going from anonymity to worldwide recognition.

Since its debut in 2016, the Netflix docuseries Last Chance U has garnered a massive following, drawing in millions of viewers. The series unravels stories of athletes and coaches who confront their demons, overcome life's hurdles, and pursue their dreams of competing in major college athletics and professional sports. It offers a raw, unfiltered view of the world of sports, complete with triumphant victories, heartbreaking defeats, and everything in between.

Seasons 3 and 4 of the series, in particular, stand out as some of the most engaging in the franchise's history. This is largely thanks to the polarizing head football coach at Independence Community College, Jason Brown. Brown's bold, uncensored, and unapologetic style garnered both fervent supporters and fierce critics. One thing is indisputable – he was undeniably intriguing. Jeff Carpenter, the ICC play-by-play announcer, had a front-row seat for all the action. His commentary was featured in every episode, and he played a central role in the interviews conducted throughout these two unforgettable seasons. If you're familiar with the show, Jeff Carpenter is a name you recognize, and now he joins us on the Before The Crowds Play-by-Play Podcast!

Join us for this extraordinary conversation as we uncover the behind-the-scenes tales and the incredible journey that Last Chance U brings to life. Whether you're a devoted fan of the series or simply captivated by the world of sports, this episode promises a riveting exploration of the human spirit, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence. Choosing The Right Path: To The Young & Single Man (RAISING THE STANDARD)

Choosing The Right Path: To The Young & Single Man (RAISING THE STANDARD)

“Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger men.”  John F. Kennedy

As we work our way through this series, we are first stopping at the age of men youngest and most impressionable:  those young adult (high school/college) and single men.  Yes this is a large age group to cover.  Yes a lot happens in these years.  But there are some common tenets these younger men must adhere to; certain traits they must develop in Christ.  We see a firm foundation of truth must be laid.  We see an avoidance of the world's trappings and temptations (and necessary boundaries/preventative measures established).  Finally we see that in charting a course in life (finding a career, a spouse, a calling) involves seeking the Lord's heart and following His lead.  This is a crucial part of a man's life.  This is a time to either press in and put down roots OR waste and squander the potential we have.

I pray this is an episode that will minister to young men in this stage of life.  Please feel free to share with those who you think might need to hear this teaching.

Becoming Men After God's Own Heart: Introduction (RAISING THE STANDARD)

Becoming Men After God's Own Heart: Introduction (RAISING THE STANDARD)

He raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said, “I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.”  Acts 13:22

We are spending the next several weeks on the podcast talking to a specific audience:  Christian men.  If there is a demographic within the church that I have felt most specifically called to reach, it would be Christian men.  To seek a path in life that brings the Lord glory and is directed by Him.  To tell them to lead well as husbands and fathers; in a Christ-honoring way.  To come to the end of life knowing you led well and you have much left to impart to the generations that follow.  This series attempts to hit all of these areas and cause men to consider the weight of the call they have in Christ.  We model David, as he in turn modeled Christ:  he was a man after God's own heart.  This episode serves as an introduction and sets the stage for what follows.  Will you join me?

Levi Hawken (NZ Artist/Skateboarder/Nek Minnit) - ALTBAYS SHOW #118

Levi Hawken (NZ Artist/Skateboarder/Nek Minnit) - ALTBAYS SHOW #118

Show 118 Levi Hawken (NZ Artist/Skateboarder/Nek Minnit)

Welcome to ALTBAYS Show (feat. Leo Magri)

    Meet Levi Hawken

Levi Hawken is a professional skateboarder (for Sector 9) from Dunedin, New Zealand. Hawken appeared in a viral video showing a scooter, apparently destroyed outside a dairy. The "nek minnit" video spawned many parodies and has become a popular slang term among the people of Aotearoa.

Hawken began his artistic career painting graffiti in Auckland City during the mid-1990s.

Although much of his graffiti work is no longer visible, the influences in his more formal paintings remain. In the past eight years, his work has turned from the once public forum of the walls and spaces in our cities to a more private and formal review of his style.

The new works embody Levi's concerns with his artistic demons and an emotional backlash against issues encased within the graffiti movement. Conflicted with the nature of street art through the constant personal and public battle, seeing one's art removed, vandalized and challenged from within the graffiti community and the public as a whole, Levi has made the poignant decision to take back ownership of his works by composing them on canvas, away from the public domain.

ALTBAYS Show invites awesome people from Aotearoa, New Zealand, to have an honest, laid-back conversation. Our platform focuses on bringing communities together to grow and thrive.

    The Platform You Have

    The Platform You Have

Today's podcast dives into how we use what we have for the glory of God.  The platform we have to proclaim His truth can take several forms.  Some of this is directed at those on the stage.  Some of it is not.  You may never take a “stage” so to speak and that is ok.  But much of this applies in general terms to the ones you do affect.

As we begin, here are some thoughts and questions I’ve had after recently going out to perform in front of others.  These help frame some of the context of where I am going today:

The allure of the stage can be deceiving.

Is this done under my power or God’s?

Will it be my glory or His?

Is this my ministry or His?
