    en-gbNovember 21, 2023

    About this Episode

“When will I reach the end of ‘the struggle’ and finally be able to enjoy life?”

In this episode, Pete explores the different stages of the “Healing Journey” - which can feel like a never-ending endeavour.

He describes observations from his work with his clients along various stages of this process - as they let go of their old ways & created a life more authentic & true to themselves.

He uses an analogy of being “in the tunnel” to describe the process of outgrowing your old life & network, but still being unsure of the path forward.

If you feel fed up, sick of the personal development journey and just want to “be ok” & enjoy life again, this episode will hopefully provide a light at the end of the tunnel & give you the motivation to keep moving forward, one day at a time!

How does your image support your bigger mission in life?

Laura Markinkovich is a fashion expert & men’s personal stylist. She helps men who are completely clueless about their look to create a unique image & a self identity that stands out amongst the crowd.

Many men might think of the concept of image & style as something that is too feminine, or self indulgent & surface level. However it’s something that is present & happening anyway whether you like it or not, so you would do well to embrace it!

In this interview, you will learn about how understanding styling & fashion gets to be a low hanging fruit which you can use to amplify the message you have to share with the world.

#55 The People Pleaser’s Exchange Bureau

#55 The People Pleaser’s Exchange Bureau

People Pleasing is a pretty rough character trait to live with.

The “Nice Guy/ Nice Girl” pattern is insidious - it seeps into every area of life & distorts our perception of the world.

At some point along the way, the people-pleaser took on the false belief that they’re some kind of burden on others & must overgive & self-sacrifice in order to receive their basic needs.

This pattern can get so bad that, in an act of trying to remain consistent with self, they turn it into a badge of honour (think “the saviour” or “the empath”).

These false identities perpetuate toxic relationships, which continue to leave the pleaser feeling burnt out, worthless…and most of all, “correct” in their belief that they are the victim.

In this episode, Pete dives into his own lived experience of this seemingly harmful but ultimately destructive pattern. He uses a fun analogy of a rather unique “Exchange Bureau” to describe how ridiculous the unconscious behaviour of the people pleaser really is.

He explores the solution to people-pleasing,  a reframe that may help you understand the source of these problems - and a path forward.

Remember - Just by existing, you deserve to have your needs met,..“just cos” ;)
