Peter Rennert (Part 2) - How to Live on the Effortless Path with Mind-Body Harmony

Peter Rennert (Part 2) - How to Live on the Effortless Path with Mind-Body Harmony

This is Part 2 of my talk with my dear friend and former professional tennis player, Peter Rennert.

During his playing career, Peter was ranked in the Top 10 in the World in Doubles and Top 40 in the World in Singles. After his playing career ended, he traveled the globe teaching tennis to thousands of people of all ages and skill levels at private homes, tennis clubs, luxury resorts and on the pro tour.

In his travels, Peter developed an awareness based approach to teaching that focuses entirely on optimizing the brain’s ability to learn. He calls it TELOS, which stands for The Effortless Life Operating System.

Peter has launched an online course for tennis players and will soon launch an online course for teaching professionals. He has trained and Certified TELOS Tennis Professionals around the world.

The TELOS system is applicable to all walks of life, and I had to have Peter on to tell you about it, as well as his story.

In Part 2, listen as we discuss:

    • TELOS, the effortless life operating system.
    • The three steps:
      • 1. Body and mind harmony.
      • 2. A specific and prioritized agenda.
      • 3. Let go of step 2 if it conflicts with step 1.
    • How do we get to mind and body harmony?
    • Peter recounting my tennis lesson with him. (Not my sport!)
    • Our body does not have the experience of being an equal partner to our mind.
    • The pains in our body often come from emotional pain.
    • Novak Djokovic, and why his self-awareness is his biggest advantage.
    • The benefits of simultaneous training, or cognitive and physical at the same time.
    • You shouldn't stress yourself out all day long to prepare for stress.
    • Remove clutter, expand joy and purpose.
    • If you have the feeling of being in a hurry, you're off course!

Today’s guest is my dear friend and former professional tennis player, Peter Rennert.

In Part 1, listen as we discuss:

    • How Peter and I met.
    • What does it take to be a professional tennis player?
    • The catalyst for growth is where the pressure is.
    • Why he chose to go to Stanford and be the little fish in a big pond, and became the number one college player in America.
    • Preparedness and opportunity are what we call luck.
    • How Peter thrived because of his community, then plateaued while traveling.
    • You don't need to endure unnecessary stress with training.
    • How his impending injuries and total burnout led him to stop playing.
    • The role of fear.
    • The only truth in tennis is the ball goes where the energy goes.
    • Connect your breath to the act of doing.
    • How Peter fell in love with teaching.
