This week, in La Grande, Oregon, a man threatens to cut a woman's head off during a conversation at a local bar. By the end of the night, a different woman, who looks very much like the first woman, is found dead, with her head nearly removed with a hatchet. When this man is interrogated, the local police do some of the strangest, most hilarious, and just plain terrible questioning that leads to a confession, using a technique known as "projection transfer", and told the suspect that he just might be a magical person!

Along the way, we find out that not all music festivals are created equal, that you shouldn't threaten decapitations in public, and that if you know where the murder hatchet is, you probably used it to murder!!

Episode 43 of The Story of Rock and Roll Radio Show aired at the stroke of midnight on 8 November 2019.  We were straight into it with a brand new release by Airbourne, who were referred to as “the thinking man’s ACDC” by a quick witted listener.  The pace stayed right where it was all the way through Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Marilyn Manson and Iron Maiden.  Next we hit a short blast of Punk with the amazing Brody Dalle before going off to the movies for a few tracks.   

Speculation is rife that we will get to see KISS in July next year so we took a listen to them.  The highlight of the show for me was taking a listen to Metallica’s  ‘The Four Horsemen’.  It’s amazing how refreshing that track sounded and it was a great reminder of just how cutting edge they were back in 1983.  The speakers in the studio are really good so I got to hear it properly at about one thirty a.m. and had the speakers glowing red by the end of the show.  It must be really cool to be driving a big truck through the night and to have that track come over the airwaves like a fucking super nova.  After a false start we got our weekly dose of Cold Chisel and we also got to hear one of those bands you can’t play on the radio.

Episode 27 was recorded at midnight on 12 July 2019.  As always the show contains an eclectic mix of Rock, Metal, Ballads and Blues.  It was pretty diverse and had a good flow, the only technical hitch was an annoying little problem where the recording cut off some of the talking at the beginning of the show.  Maybe it’s trying to tell me something, anyway you may hear a couple of bits where it jumps.  I don’t like to edit the show, it’s important that it goes out as is but I am looking at a solution to this little source of irritation.    

 One of the highlights was the local slot where I put Wonderboom and Van Coke Kartel back to back and it just sounded amazing, such good energy from these two amazing South African bands.  The show features 26 fantastic artists including ZZ Top, Godsmack, Iron Maiden, Rory Gallagher, Ozzy Osbourne, The Uninvited, Black Label Society, Fastway, Judas Priest, The Doors, Roadkill Ghost Choir, Halestorm, Van Coke Kartel, Clutch, Rammstein, Wonderboom, Cheap Trick, Jimmy Barnes, Crash Car Burn, U.D.O., The Uninvited, The Quireboys, Slipknot, Tom Petty, The Gaslight Anthem, Tom Keifer & The Stranglers.
