The Rhythm of Prayer (Week 6): God's Protection (Matthew 6:9-13)

The Rhythm of Prayer (Week 6): God's Protection (Matthew 6:9-13)

Throughout our series, The Rhythm of Prayer, we will delve into the transformative experience of prayer, focusing on the Lord’s Prayer to cultivate greater intentionality, intimacy, and illumination, seeking a rejuvenated prayer discipline that sustains spiritual renewal and challenges traditional, duty-bound approaches.

In Week 6, Jeff McLain looked at Matthew 6:13, and how the line "deliver us from evil," reminds us of that there is evil at play in this world and it longs to distract us from God's best for our lives. Through this line in the Lord's Prayer, we realize we cannot resist evil on our own and that we need God's Protection and Deliverance at work in our lives.

    Who we are together.
River Corner Church is a growing church community of everyday people who gather to worship God, follow Jesus, and journey through life together.

    What we practice together.
Our small church community is uniquely caring, simple, laid-back, and intergenerational. As a church, we want to be a welcoming, safe, and healing community for those who are seeking, hurting, or need a place to belong. Our practices are contemplative (reflective) charismatic (Spirit-driven), conversational, and informative. The times we share together are intentional and intimate, and a mix between modern and traditional. We want to be a place in which love and honor are lived out, where humility is central, and where hospitality is woven into the threads of our community. There is room at the table.

    When we gather together.
River Corner Church gathers weekly on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM to worship and experience God, study the scriptures, journey through life together, and partner with the Holy Spirit. We meet in a simple worship meeting house at 524 River Corner Road in Conestoga, Pennsylvania. You are welcome as you are, just be yourself. There are other times that we hold small groups, events, and more.

    Our Pastoral Leader.
As the pastor of River Corner Church, Jeff McLain leads our church community and helps others to think differently about Jesus, life, and everything in-between. Jeff also serves as the Director of Pastoral Ministries at Water Street Mission, where he works with those facing homelessness and poverty. Jeff, Katie, and their three wander-filled daughters look to lead quiet lives. Committed to lifelong learning, Jeff is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry at Kairos University and completing a Master of Business Administration with a focus on Executive Leadership at City Vision University. These academic pursuits complement the two masters he completed earlier at Fuller Seminary. Jeff has a passion for baseball, boardwalks, beaches, bays, and books, but above all, his greatest joy lies in spending time with his family and guiding our church community on our journey of faith together.

The Rhythm of Prayer (Week 3): God's Provision (Matthew 6:9-13)

Throughout our series, The Rhythm of Prayer, we will delve into the transformative experience of prayer, focusing on the Lord’s Prayer to cultivate greater intentionality, intimacy, and illumination, seeking a rejuvenated prayer discipline that sustains spiritual renewal and challenges traditional, duty-bound approaches.

In Week 3, Pastor Jeff McLain looked at Matthew 6:11, and how this line in the Lord's Prayer causes us to intentionally reflect on God's Provision in our lives. This line from the Lord's Prayer emphasizes dependence on God's provision rather than a mere request for material possessions. We explore the multifaceted nature of God's provision, and we explore how this passage calls believers to continual prayerful dependence on God's unfailing love and wisdom.

Do Not Fear (Advent 2023): God Asks of Joseph (Week 3 Joy, Matthew 1:18-25)

On Sunday, December 17, Pastor Jeff McLain continued our Advent series, Do Not Fear. This sermon focused on the story of Joseph in Matthew 1:18-25. In Matthew 1:18-25, God asks Joseph to step out in faith, despite the discouraging and unknowable future that lay ahead. Joseph's story, emphasizes the importance of holding onto joy found in God's Spirit, knowing that God is doing something in our lives, and trusting in God's plan during challenging moments where weariness, discouragement, and apathy can settle in.

    Do Not Fear Sermon Series
Our Do Not Fear Sermon Series on Sunday mornings at River Corner Church, is a spiritual pilgrimage behind all that is merry and bright, and into the very real story of Advent.  This series explores the four places the main characters of the Advent story are gripped by fear and are told, "do not fear." This annual spiritual pilgrimage involves immersing oneself in the profound narrative of Jesus' birth—a story of transformation that calls those in the story (and us) to step out in faith, even when we are already discouraged, to experience eternal hope, peace, joy, and love.

SEVENTY years ago this movie dominated Hollywood and the Academy Awards.  It is a drama disguised as a war film.  From Here to Eternity is a movie that took home a boatload of Oscars back in 1953.  All the performances are incredible and the direction, editing, and cinematography is first rate.   But it's the story that really pulls you in.  The question is did it deserve to win best picture that year.  Were the other four nominees as goo, or even better.  Was there a film (including all the great foreign language movies) that came out in 1953 better than From Here to Eternity.  Download and tune in to hear Jack Ferdman's take on it.

The Time Has Come: The Hindrances of Personal Preferences and Convictions (Mark 2:18-22)

The Time Has Come: The Hindrances of Personal Preferences and Convictions (Mark 2:18-22)

On May 28, Pastor Jeff McLain continued our - The Time Has Come  series -by looking at Mark 2:18-22, and the way our personal preferences and convictions can hinder us from growth and keep us from the new things Jesus longs to bring about.

Mark's narrative on the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus starts with Jesus declaring that it was time to change our way of living and to live into the way that the presence, goodness and good news of God (the Kingdom of God) had come tangibly into the present (Mark 1:15). In each of the stories told by Mark, after that proclamation of Jesus, we witness Jesus demonstrating how God's Kingdom was making a difference in their day.

The difference that God's Kingdom makes is more than just getting to go to heaven when we die. Through Jesus' inauguration of the Kingdom of God on earth, God's eternal heaven is now bringing glimpses of God's future restoration into today. In the ministry of Jesus, Mark shows us that Jesus was bringing about God's liberation and healing to demonstrate how God's Kingdom makes a difference today.

Throughout this series, we see what it means to repent and believe that God's transformative hope of heaven is still bringing God's liberation and healing into the present. The time has come to see what it means for us that God's transformative Kingdom longs to work in, with and through us to not only make a difference in eternity but also today.

Mark's narrative on the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus starts with Jesus declaring that it was time to change our way of living and to live into the way that the presence, goodness and good news of God (the Kingdom of God) had come tangibly into the present (Mark 1:15). Choose a Reliable Wood Fence Installer

When you don't know what you're searching for, it might be tough to find the best wood fence installation. You must work with a wood fence installer who is skilled in working with the many kinds of wood used for fences. Your fence may be installed appropriately if it is done by a qualified wood fence installer. Furthermore, you should consider the wood fence installer's professional background. They will be more likely to successfully install your fence if they have done several wood fences in the past. Hiring a wood fence installation that has never completed your task before is the last thing you need. In order to guarantee that our clients have the ideal fence to meet their requirements and are entirely happy with their purchase, Hoff - The Fence Contractors Lancaster, PA offers a broad range of fencing alternatives, including chain link, gate, and split rail fences.

Which Wood Makes the Greatest Fence?

Your tastes and requirements for fence will determine everything. Wood is the most common kind of fence material for homes, which is why it is also known as wood fencing. A number of wood species, including cedar, pine, redwood, cypress, and many more, are used to make wood fence. Due to its inherent resistance to rot and exceptional durability, cedar is the most common wood used for fences. Consider selecting cedar if your fence is tall and you want it to survive for a long time. To keep their fences free of bugs and other pests, some homeowners choose to use pressure-treated wood. Untreated wood will not survive as long as pressure treated wood since it is more resistant to rot. Our fencing firm at Hoff - The Fence Contractors Lancaster, PA is an expert at assisting homeowners in finding the ideal fence for their residence.
