TMR 294 : Andy Jennings : Eyes to See & Ears to Hear

TMR 294 : Andy Jennings : Eyes to See & Ears to Hear
"I think Jesus wants us to have a paradigm where we notice His truth and His beauty everywhere."—Andy Jennings We welcome back to the programme Andy Jennings—the brilliant singer-songwriter of the Christian indie band Dissident Prophet—for a wide-ranging conversation as part of the ongoing series here at TMR called: "Following Christ in the New Old Normal." In the first conversation, with Rev Phill Sacre, we discussed "awakeness" in the church and beyond. In the second, Pastor Stephen Buckley shared his perspective on the covid era, interpreting the response of so many churches in terms of God's constructive judgement upon the churches themselves. In the third, Jeremiah Allen explained his conviction that only with the Fruit of the Spirit will Christians successfully navigate the troubled waters of the days ahead. And in this fourth, wide-ranging conversation, Andy Jennings shares with us how a change of theological focus, plus a brush with death, helped prepare him for specific challenges during the covid era, and how choosing to see God in all things can transform our lives and position us positively in Christ to face the days to come. 16. Michael DC Bowen: The Wisdom in World-bridging

    16. Michael DC Bowen: The Wisdom in World-bridging

A lifelong learner, heterodox thinker, and self-taught dabbler in many disciplines, Michael D. C. Bowen brings a wealth of wisdom on the many worlds he has traveled through. After building his career in data engineering and raising his family, he decided to undertake a “martial education” by joining the citizens’ police academy and being trained as a first-responder. What have his life experiences taught him about the process of becoming a fully self-actualized human being?

Michael David Cobb Bowen is a writer, data engineer, and entrepreneur. He helped found Free Black Thought, Rights Universal, and the Conservative Brotherhood. Bowen considers himself a wry Stoic and tactical epistemologist. He has been published in Newsweek and was a regular NPR contributor as well as a host at Cafe Utne. His online writing projects on political, cultural and philosophical subjects reach back over 23 years. His latest project, Stoic Observations, focuses on matters of knowledge & power, global frameworks, information theory, and the practical aspects of moving from philosophy to philosophy. His mission is to document the journey of finding the true value of Western Civilization through Socratic dialogue.

    Episode 38: "Ivermectin" (Anthony Effinger)

In this episode of the Dive Podcast, we interview freelance writer Anthony Effinger about his article concerning ivermectin. Ivermectin is commonly used as an animal de-worming medication but Portland-based podcasters Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying have been preaching its effects against COVID-19. It has now become a favorite medicine among the anti-vaxxers despite experts warning of its effects. We digest this story and more on E38 of our show.
Thanks for listening, see you next week.

Neither Intellectual, nor Dark, nor a Web? with Oliver Traldi

Neither Intellectual, nor Dark, nor a Web? with Oliver Traldi
Oliver Traldi (@olivertraldi) joins Outsider Theory to answer an important question: is he now or has he ever been a member of the Intellectual Dark Web (IDW)? We discuss the latter formation's place within the online culture war dynamics of the past decade, its relation to the more recent controversies around Substack, what its members got right about the coalescence of "successor ideology" orthodoxies and what their analyses lacked. Finally, I apologize profusely for the poor audio quality of this episode on my end. I made some errors with a new mic setup that I wasn't yet used to when I recorded. I promise dramatically improved sound quality in all future episodes. Oliver's personal website: https://olivertraldi.weebly.com/

    Identity Politics

Make America Great Again? Well, that's loaded! We're going to try to unpack it and all that's going on around it. Before we get to MAGA, though, there are a few foundational concepts that we need to layout and explore. The first is identity politics. Hang on to your hats.
