    What are the roads like for Christmas travel on the busiest travel day of the season?

    You will need a lot of extra patience as we head out of town for the Christmas holidays. AAA Texas says today is the busiest travel day on the roads for Christmas. Around 9 million Texans will go at least 50 miles from home.

    To put it into perspective, that's about a third of the state's population! Add to it the possibility of some nasty weather during the weekend, you're going to want to be even more careful.

    What is food insecurity?

    This time of year might not bring all the peace on Earth for everyone. Thousands of North Texans won't have a Merry Christmas or a Happy New Year, because they are dealing with hunger or food insecurity. That's an issue that runs 24/7 and 365 days a year.

    KRLD is teaming up with the North Texas Food Bank for something special later this week. It's our version of a radiothon where we're doing a "virtual food drive" called Raise Your Hand!

    Thousands of children are missing out on school, and there are more trying to recover at home. This is more than just the cold and flu season.

    The DFW Hospital Council reports there's almost no room at the inn for children's hospitals here in the DFW area. The problem is... RSV is running rampant through the schools.
