    Back to the Frame Rate

In the vast realm of film rankings – AFI's 100, Sight & Sound's Greats, 1001 To See Before You Die, IMDB's Top 250, Roger Ebert's Picks, and so on – there's a glaring omission: STAKES! Picture this: an asteroid the size of Texas hurtling toward Earth, a threat even Bruce Willis and his motley crew of oil drillers can't thwart. We're left with a front-row seat to our impending doom. Fear not, fellow film nerds, for we've constructed a fallout shelter, a haven for cinematic survival. Sadly, the space is tight, just enough for us and our cherished 35mm & 70mm film reels. To friends, family, and old acquaintances left in the cinematic dust, our apologies. But fret not, for we vow to emerge when Earth is safe for repopulation. We've preserved the very soul of civilization, ensuring a future where storytelling thrives. Back to the Frame Rate, saving the world one reel at a time! 🎥✨ Hosted by Nathan Suher, Eli Escobar, Sam Coale, and Briana (Bee) Butterworth.

Or do we let it burn to never be seen again? Write in to us and let us know what you think of this film. We'd love to share your opinions on the show!

Movie Musings / The Great Season 1 Film Adjudication

Movie Musings / The Great Season 1 Film Adjudication
Nathan, Eli, Bee, and Sam plunge into a daring rescue mission. Amidst the chaos of a fiery asteroid apocalypse, their sole objective is to salvage the lifeblood of cinema. They are the last gatekeepers, deciding which films from season 1 are worthy to be enshrined in their sacred Vault and which are to be cast into the fiery abyss. The selection is ruthless - majority rules. Their mission grows intense with each movie they assess, heated debates sparking and subsiding like the flames of the approaching doom.
An unprecedented twist takes them on a detour into a nostalgic look back at the Steven Spielberg retrospectives and the intriguing glimpse into the mystic world of '80s neo-noir'. The journey is not without its absurdity and hilarity, especially when one of them confesses to only having watched half a movie for a previous review! As they toy with the fate of beloved classics like ‘Gremlins’ and modern favorites like ‘John Wick Chapter 4’, they are forced to make tough choices.
Will your favorite movie survive the ruthless selection and find its forever home in the Vault? Join our intrepid hosts in this riveting bonus episode for a rollercoaster ride through cinema.

    Movie Musings
We have retitled our bonus episodes "Movie Musings" since this is the place where we share what we've been watching over the past week. This is also where we will post content unrelated to our main movie reviews, such as film news, movie drafts, top 10 lists, and all sorts of shenanigans.

In this episode Bee, Eli and Nathan share what they've been watching this past week. Nathan discovered a whole new ad-free streaming service he didn't know loaded with amazing titles. He also binged through Fargo season 1. Eli and Nathan both share their love for the new Seth MacFarlane series 'Ted' streaming on Peacock. Bee caught up with 'Zone of Interest', a film somehow even more depressing then 'Society of the Snow' and is in the midst of a rewatch of 'The Sopranos'. All that and more!

Nathan plugs his EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE holiday horror/comedy "Scary Little Fuckers: A Christmas Movie" available to watch for free on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ue_Nh0yiD2k&t=3s - A perfect tie in the film we're discussing in a couple week, Gremlins. The three of us gush over the new Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, and talk about an interesting trend with this weeks box office.
