How this Entrepreneur is Empowering Women Through Fashion and Stories

As women, we have so many similarities. A love for fashion is one of them, as are so many of life’s challenges and experiences. Jill Strickland Brown is empowering women through fashion to help them embrace their stories and journeys and feel confident and beautiful.

Empowering women through fashion is a gift Jill Strickland Brown shares with her clients, friends, and everyone she meets. She accomplishes this through her clothing boutique and her recently published book, Behind the Button.

    Women supporting women

When given the opportunity to connect with someone like-minded, don’t hesitate. Reach out, connect, build relationships, and support one another. This is key to future female empowerment.

When empowering women through fashion, Jill helps build confidence

When we don’t have confidence in how we look, we don’t have confidence in how we feel. This leads us to not put ourselves into the world to make a difference.

Jill’s purpose of empowering women through fashion emerged

Originally, Jill set out to sell clothing. However, her purpose emerged over the years to help other women feel confident to go forth and do the good they are meant to do. Over the years she’s realized that we as women are all threaded together and are more alike than different.

You need hope for the entrepreneurship journey

You need hope for the entrepreneurship journey

Being a business owner is exciting, fun, inspiring, joyful, and purposeful. But you need hope for the entrepreneurship journey to stay positive and have the strength to follow your dreams and achieve your goals.

Hope is the desire that keeps you moving forward. You need hope and a positive mindset to stay motivated, to put one foot in front of the other when the excitement has waned and doubt has arrived. Hopeful expectation will help you see a light at the end of the tunnel, and your effort and dedication will produce results.

Put your hope in the Lord.

The psalmist in Psalm 32 says, "We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you." In Psalm 130:7, we read, "Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption."

    She never gave up.

In Matthew, Mark, and Luke, we are told the story of the woman who had been bleeding for 12 years. According to doctors, there was no cure, nothing anyone could do for her. But she didn't give up hope. She had faith. When she learned about Jesus, she believed that He was the chosen one, the Messiah. Through faith in Him, she had hope that He could heal her. Her faith was so strong that she believed that if she couldn't get to Him if she could touch His robe, she'd be healed. And she was.

    A prayer for you

I pray over you today, friend. Lord, thank you for the hope you have given us through Jesus and your limitless gifts of hope, grace, and love. Please calm this beautiful soul's heart and quiet her mind so she will hear you speaking to and guiding her. Grant her an elevation in her faith in you and hope in all things possible through that faith. You are so good, Lord. Help us take the hope found only in you and share it while using your gifts to serve others and bring glory to you through all we say and do, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Facts about coaching, responsibility, anxiety, and mindset with Lisa Pachence

Facts about coaching, responsibility, anxiety, and mindset with Lisa Pachence

Coaches can serve as a mirror for clients behind them on the journey to become who they are meant to be. Clients can experience hope that they too will become satisfied, purposeful, and fulfilled by seeing what the coach who has gone before them has accomplished.

Many facts about coaching will influence your decision to become a coach, what type of coach you will become, and whether or not you will hire a coach.

The label of coach is very broad. Coaching could mean marketing strategy, consulting, coaching in sports, or mentoring. There is nothing wrong with the coach label, but the complication comes from he distinction between using coach as a business label versus the coaching industry.

Getting credentialed as a coach helps you understand coaching as a process.

Facts about coaching - it can help overcome a scarcity mindset

The scarcity mindset (negative money mindset) is very prevalent. It can also be associated with performance. It always reflects a belief of lack in life or business. Lack of resources, lack of money, lack of ability, etc. Scarcity prevents us from seeing that there are enough seats at the table, collaborating, or referring to others. Rising tides rise all ships, but you can't get to that place until you work on your scarcity mindset.

You don't have to have all the answers. But accepting vulnerability and asking for your help to discover the answers is vital. And, when help is offered or a referral given, receive gracefully, lovingly, and generously. A lack of resources isn't the problem; the scarcity mindset must be navigated first.

Your overall well-being is related to your mindset. Did you know that your gut health influences your ability to have an abundance mindset? When you've experienced any trauma in your life, it's important to do inner healing work by nurturing mind, body, and soul.

What influence does anxiety have on women in business and entrepreneurship?

Anxiety can get in the way of having a great life. Coaching can help you recognize how to make choices that will reduce anxiety. There has to be a very strong commitment to navigating anxiety if you want to succeed amidst the pressures of entrepreneurship, motherhood, and the multiple hats that we as women wear.

Responsibility, choices, and commitment are integral to navigating any mental health challenge.

Anxiety can arise during the entrepreneurial journey or be exacerbated once you become an entrepreneur. It's important to note that anxiety is not an excuse to stay stuck, make poor choices, or react negatively. If you experience anxiety, take responsibility to get the help you need to recognize it and navigate it effectively.

You've got this because God's got you!

You've got this because God's got you!

Life can feel challenging and overwhelming, sometimes downright brutal. But you can have confidence you'll get through it because God's got you.

You can find comfort in scripture that you've got this because God's got you. No matter the life experiences, even the days you want to curl up in a ball and cry, God's resting his hand on you and sees you as his radiant, righteous child. Psalm 34:5 reminds us, Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.

When you don't think you've got this, ask yourself these questions?

    1. Is this more than God can handle?

Your situation may be more than you can handle, but nothing is impossible for God to handle. God's got you, always. In Matthew 28:20, when Jesus spoke to the disciples, He said, "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Another verse that reminds us that no matter what seems impossible for us, Jesus can handle it is Matthew 19:26. "Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

There is nothing under the sun that God cannot handle and help you navigate if you seek Him. But when doubt comes over you because the struggle feels too much, the decisions too overwhelming, or the workload too intense, remember the words of the father of the boy in Mark 9:24, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Ask God to help with your doubts and unbelief. He wants your trust and belief in Him; if you seek Him, He will help your unbelief become an undeniable belief. He wants to be in a relationship with you. He will speak to you when you are in a relationship with Him.

    2. Is there something I can learn from this right now?

    3. Can I find something to be grateful for in this situation?

    4. Can I ask for help?

    5. What do I need to be able to follow God's calling and will for me?

Strategies to use podcast guesting for marketing

Strategies to use podcast guesting for marketing

There are many benefits to podcast guesting. If you want to use podcast guesting for marketing, you need to know how to be a good podcast to be successful.

Podcast guesting is a powerful marketing tool to reach a larger audience, build your community, and, ultimately, attract more clients. But you need to know how to be a good podcast guest to use podcast guesting for marketing your business effectively.

How is podcast guesting related to marketing

Podcast guesting is a long-term strategy. Repurpose the interviews and use them for content on other platforms—audiograms, short videos, a blog post, email marketing, etc. When using podcast guesting for marketing, you have opportunities to build relationships and open the door for collaboration. When you are a podcast guest, you will boost your SEO and will be more likely to be found by your ideal clients.

Social media posts will only last a maximum of 18 hours, whereas podcast guesting is a sustainable strategy because it has longevity. Your credibility and authority grow quickly when you are a guest on podcasts.

    Trust determines buying practices.

When podcast hosts trust you to be a good podcast guest and provide value, their listeners will also trust you. Their listeners will become a warm audience.

How to be a good podcast guest

    • Listen to the podcast and the interviews to familiarize yourself with the host, format, vibe, etc. Be mindful of the show's content and focus. Do not pitch it if it is not aligned with your business or if your business isn't aligned with the show.
    • Leave a rating and review before pitching.
    • Know the host's process for accepting and reviewing guest pitches. Do not email a pitch to them if they have an application process.
    • Be prepared. Do not wing it. Do your research and clearly understand what you want to talk about.
    • Engage in the conversation.
    • Be respectful of the host's time.
    • Do not use a podcast guest experience as an advertisement. Provide knowledge and value, and only at the end of the interview, promote how people can connect with you.
    • Never forget to promote the episode. Sharing the interview is a win-win for the host and the guest. It demonstrates respect for the host and lends to your own credibility. In addition, you build your network.
    • Follow up with the host and say thank you.
    • Emphasize value over selling. Share your story and give examples, but don't sell during the interview.

Website strategies to create an effective homepage

Website strategies to create an effective homepage

To grow your business without social media, you must have good copy written to resonate with your ideal client. Writing persuasive copy makes you more likely to convert your audience to paying clients.

You must adhere to your values when writing persuasive copy and implementing website strategies to create an effective homepage.

    The place to start

Don't get hung up on having the perfect website. Your website strategies must include taking action to accomplish what needs to be done, especially if you want to create an effective homepage or convert viewers to clients.

    Your website homepage is important.

You have approximately 7 seconds to grab a website visitor's attention before they become uninterested and click away.

Your website strategies to create an effective homepage must include

    Hook headlines

The space above the fold, the banner area, or hero image as you may hear it called, is prime real estate to grab attention. It's a title that gets your viewer's attention. Not only grab their attention but leverage who you are talking to and how you can help them. Focus on the reader, who you help, and how you help them.

    Opt-in

If applicable, offer a lead magnet, a free guide, a white paper, a case study, etc., so that you can have them join your email list, bring them into your community, and further nurture them. This goes beyond your general "subscribe to my email list" or "subscribe to my newsletter." You want to give them something. This is a great way to continue to warm up the audience. They probably need more, and the opt-in provides an opportunity to do this.

    First-person

Use a personal approach and write in the first person. Writing in the first person is a way to connect with the reader and is a form of persuasive copywriting. This is an opportunity to share your story and your values, what is important to you. When you share stories about your experiences, journey, and why you are doing what you are doing, your visitors will connect with you. If visitors do not resonate with your copy, they will understand that you are not the person for them. Likewise, if visitors do resonate with your copy, they will recognize that you are the one who can solve a problem for them. They will align with your values and understand you are a good fit.

Be the face of your brand.

Share your story and connect with the reader by showcasing your personal brand. If you were once your ideal client, share that information. Most importantly, have at least one image of yourself on your homepage. Your website strategies must include a way for visitors to get to know you. In addition, to create an effective homepage, you must build an emotional connection with the visitor. Images are also important for SEO which is a key component to create an effective homepage.

Do Not Compromise Your Faith - Friday Faith Foundations

Do Not Compromise Your Faith - Friday Faith Foundations

Spiritual warfare is real. You must stand guard, discern, and be prepared to stand your ground.

Do not compromise your faith by accepting the "feel good" movement rampantly shifting the mindset of society. Jesus didn't die in vain. He died, overcame Satan, and rose again so that we could have eternal life. He did not suffer for us to ignore His commandments and accept sin. Therefore, we must discern what we consume.

We are to love but do not compromise your faith to do so

We are to love, yes. But it is not love to accept and condone sinful lifestyles. We are called to witness Jesus' love and grace, to bring others to His righteousness and into His kingdom.

In Matthew 22:36-40 we learn the greatest commandment. The disciples asked Jesus, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

However, accepting what secular voices are promoting as good, as love, is not going to help anyone. In fact, it will endanger our souls and the souls of others. This applies to life and business, and as business owners, you have the luxury to stand sure-footed on your values and faith if you are willing.

Jesus loves, but He does not tolerate sin. He calls all to repentance. Therefore, we must not accept sin. In Mark 3:28-29 Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”

Likewise, in Ephesians 4:30, Paul commands, "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption."

Jesus gets us, but do not compromise your faith by being misled that he is pleased with sin.

Oh yes, Jesus gets us. And He is very aware of all we think, say, and do. He has compassion for us. But that does not mean He condones sin or wants us to accept it as right and true. Every sin we commit, we grieve the Holy Spirit.

Be cautious, friends, be aware of mixed messages and do not accept all you see, hear, and read as Biblical truth. Satan is working overtime to distract you and pull you away from the safety net Jesus so generously suffered to provide for us.

We are to love, not judge, but we are also not to condone or support ungodly choices and behaviors. Sin is real. We all sin.

Do You Need A Business Detox with Andrea Anderson

Do You Need A Business Detox with Andrea Anderson

It's time for a business detox! Clear your heart and mind and better see what God has in store for you and your business. God has a purpose and calling for each of us and wants us to stay aligned with Him.

What is a business detox? If you feel overwhelmed or like you are spinning in circles with a never-ending to-do list, maybe it's time to step back and listen for God's voice. Maybe you need to hear God more clearly to fully understand your purpose and what He's calling you to. When you more clearly hear God's voice, you will have more direction and confidence in your business endeavors. Having more direction and confidence will allow you to grow and scale with simplicity and at a faster rate.

Allow God to transform you for a business detox.

In Romans 12:2, Paul tells us, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will." When we step into faith, we allow God to transform us. Often, transformation is what is needed for us to clearly hear God's voice and experience the growth He is calling us to.

    What is a business detox?

We need to purge our old thoughts, ways, and even clients to move forward to grow and scale our businesses. God gave Andrea the verse Hebrews 12:1, which reads, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."

We are to throw off everything that hinders us from hearing God's will for us. There are things that hinder us that aren't sin. Whatever feels like dead weight that is stopping you from stepping into the business God has for you needs to be thrown off. Building a business is a process. You must go through each phase or step to reach the next level. But eventually, you need to be willing to move from one phase to the next. Andrea used the example of riding a bike and removing the training wheels.

You Need Help To Succeed - Friday Faith Foundations

You Need Help To Succeed - Friday Faith Foundations

Do you avoid asking for help? Perhaps asking for help makes you feel uncomfortable. Even if you don't want to ask another person for help, you have a guide and help is available to you from the Holy Spirit.

You need help to succeed. As humans, we are not meant to live, work, and do things alone. And most people enjoy helping others. Data suggests that when people help others, we are more likely to be successful ourselves.

The Bible reminds us that we need help to succeed

One of my favorite verses in the Bible that emphasizes our need for help as humans is Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. It reads, "Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

In the New Testament, we were given the gift of the Holy Spirit as our counselor, helper, and guide. A gift not to be taken lightly. Jesus even told the disciples that someone greater than He would be coming to help them. Can you imagine the humility of Jesus? Someone greater than Him! As believers, we are truly blessed to have the triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We are never alone. Always have help. In John 16:13 we learn "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come."

You need help to succeed, that's why we have the Holy Spirit

If we didn't need help, would Jesus have given the Holy Spirit to us? He knew that life would be challenging, too challenging to bear on our own accord. Similar to the disciples, we live in a world that can easily persuade us to run, hide from our faith, and remain silent instead of witnessing. It's much easier to fly under the radar than to proclaim our faith. Likewise, it's often easier to do what we think is best instead of asking God for direction. The Holy Spirit has a way of waking us up and helping us realize we need Him.

    You need client retention strategies

    You need client retention strategies

What if one of your best clients lost your contact information and could no longer buy from you? It happens. Don't let it happen to you. Stay front of mind.

To stay front of mind, you need client retention strategies. Email marketing is one client retention strategy that is effective and takes minimal time.

An example to demonstrate the need for client retention strategies

During a recent nail appointment, my esthetician told me about visiting a local store to buy a plant. The store owner had a limited selection of plants to choose from. She explained that she had lost the contact information for her purveyor of plants and therefore was trying to find another one. One could think a few thoughts on this, for example, how does someone lose contact information in this day and age? Can't she look for the website? Doesn't she remember the name?

Well, when humans are involved there is room for error. Maybe the purveyor doesn't have a website. Big mistake in my opinion. Even a one-page search-engine-optimized website can serve a powerful purpose in helping ideal clients find you online. It's hard to say why she can't find the contact information or remember his name or his company's name.

But that is beside the point. The purveyor himself is responsible for the loss of sales. If the purveyor had a website and an email marketing strategy or other client retention strategies in place, he would be front of mind with the shop owner.

Maybe she only buys plants twice a year, Spring and Fall. Now is the time he should be sending an email to remind his clients that Spring plants will soon be available and they should think about ordering soon.

In addition, if he'd focused on building a relationship with the shop owner, she would have remembered his name or at least kept his contact information in a safe place. Relationship marketing is another client retention strategy that can be employed. When your customers know you, love you and trust you, they are more likely to want to buy from you repeatedly.

An example to demonstrate what happens when email marketing is included with your client retention strategies

During a recent strategy session with my client, L.B. she said she needed an influx of cash this month. I asked her what her client retention strategies were. There was hesitation to answer. I then asked her about her email marketing strategy. You guessed it. She had not been emailing her list.

The result of my conversation with L.B. was that she was going to start implementing an email marketing strategy. We decided on one email per week.

After the first two emails, she had numerous new appointments booked by former clients who had not been in for quite some time. And thus she was able to generate an influx of cash into her business.
