Rêverie: The Transcendence of Arena Rock [EPISODE 169]

The classic rock-inspired outfit Rêverie recently took some time to chat with us from a recording studio in Boston. The band consists of Alec Demello (vocals), Liv Barcohana (bass), Gilliam Robles (piano/vocals), Victor Echaniz (drums), Christian Mangiameli (guitar), and Michael Forry (guitar) who met through, and are all currently attending Berklee College of Music.

Christian and Victor spoke about the spectrum of influences driving the creation of their arena-rock sound with many compliments being paid to Alec who has the innate ability to channel the energy and wide-reaching registers of the likes of David Lee Roth in his heyday. Also paying homage to the incredible talent of their other bandmates during our conversation, the entire group seems equally dedicated to making Rêverie a success. Their exploration and progressive take on the classic rock genre - along with each member's stellar musicianship -sets this band apart from the others.

Rêverie has just released a beautifully intense and melodic masterpiece titled “Digging My Own Grave” that fully demonstrates the group’s versatility and advanced musical chops. Tune in to dive into the world of Rêverie and learn more about this band on the rise!

Emerson Woolf ~ A New Voice in our Old Town [EPISODE 167]

Emerson Woolf ~ A New Voice in our Old Town [EPISODE 167]

Emerson Woolf, with her band The Wishbones, is a new and wonderfully engaging voice here in Asbury Park.  Here, we had a chance to talk with Emerson about their music, their band, and just about everything you might need to know before you go out to see this fine performer.

Emerson Woolf and The Wishbones feature Woolf's vocal and writing talents.  Their voice is both silky-smooth and imbued with the grit of the life experiences of a much older singer-songwriter.  They are honest, direct, strong, and sensitive while being open to understanding others' life experiences.

This is a do-not-miss performer who is establishing themselves as a force in the Asbury Park area.

Also - thanks to River Street Sweets, who provided an entire bowl of tasty candies and treats for our performers and guests.

THE SECRET SAUCE IN SNACKTIME [EPISODE 166]

The “funkalishous” Philadelphia band – SNACKTIME – took time from their busy tour schedule supporting Portugal. The Man to talk with us recently and the hour we spent chatting felt like only 10 minutes. During this very enjoyable conversation, Yesseh Furaha-Ali (vocals, alto sax, percussion) and Sam Gellerstein (sousaphone) shared backstories aplenty about the band’s history, their deep reservoir of musical influences, how they built up their following and what it felt like performing on the Sand Stage at Sea.Hear.Now last year.

Not satisfied with being defined by music alone, SNACKTIME is a heavy hitter with giving back to the community, supporting those in need and modeling a lifestyle based on spreading love and positivity. Tune in today to become hooked on a sound so unique, that it’s impossible to compare this band to any other. And as great as their music is ... we promise that their live show will knock your socks off and shake you to the core. Make sure you catch them opening for Portugal. JOE SAMBA ~ GRACE & GRATITUDE IN SUCCESS [EPISODE 162]

JOE SAMBA ~ GRACE & GRATITUDE IN SUCCESS [EPISODE 162]

Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Joe Samba just might be one of the nicest guys we’ve ever had the pleasure of “podcasting” with! Smack dab in the middle of his first headlining tour across the U.S., Joe carved some time out of his busy schedule to talk about his music which is an addicting combination of reggae, rock, pop, and soulful punk! So many things are taking off for this blossoming artist. In addition to headlining, he has just released a brand-new video for his song “Losing It” with The Elovaters … friends who he’s played with on many occasions in the past.

With his roots deeply planted in New Hampshire, Joe credits time spent in Key West as formative to building his presence and refining his sound; however much of his conversation was centered on his love for his family. What comes through clearly when you talk with him is his gratitude, love, and joy for his wife, baby, touring crew, and current musical situation. None of this is lost on him which is why he puts every ounce of energy and passion into every performance.

You’ll definitely want to tune in to our chat to be introduced to Joe Samba and his music. Once you do, you’ll find yourself adding song after song to your playlists because they are just THAT GOOD!!!

THE DT'S ~ AN UNDENIABLE SYNERGY [EPISODE 161]

THE DT'S ~ AN UNDENIABLE SYNERGY [EPISODE 161]

I recently had the opportunity to have a great conversation with David Cacciatore and Tom Losito of The DT’s. The power-pop/rock & bluesy duo has played together for some time but established themselves officially as The DT’s in early 2022.

Fresh off the release of their latest single “All In My Head,” it’s apparent that there’s a synergy and kismet to the fact that these two musicians were destined to make music together. Take away the fact that they could easily pass as close brothers who finish each other’s sentences, have a similar sense of humor, and blend their vocal harmonies seamlessly. But they both play several instruments, are equals in the songwriting process, and take their variety of musical influences to create a sound that is altogether there’s … and there’s alone.

THE DT's took some time to play an acoustic version of “All In My Head” that will stop you in your tracks and force you to tap to the beat and sing along to the catchy chorus! Tune in today to learn more about these talented musicians who are quietly – but very assuredly – making their way to bigger stages and audiences!

THE SELVES AND PLENTY OF THEM [EPISODE 160]

THE SELVES AND PLENTY OF THEM [EPISODE 160]

If you lived in North Jersey in the late 1980s, you would have come across the band The Selves.  The band, started by Mike Reilly on vocals and guitar,  eventually grew with Paul Fisher - on guitar, Steve Raimo - on drums, and Mike Santoro - on bass, with John Raso as their manager.

Hoboken, New Brunswick, Haledon, New York, and a few trips across the country - they played hundreds of shows over almost ten years.

Here, The Selves are together for the first time in six years and the first time putting their band's history in one long line.

Please note - this podcast is a long one, but it's one from the heart. - Doug
