Malsten on the Doom Tomb Daily Dose Ep. #290
Formed in 2018 with the purpose of creating conceptually driven slow and heavy doom music, Malsten garnered high praise for their debut album, 'The Haunting of Silvåkra Mill,' released in 2020. Svart Records is proud to present the second chapter in that story, titled 'The Haunting of Silvåkra Mill - Rites of Passage.'
Blending elements from many dark corners within and beyond the genres of metal, Malsten's music is innovative and thought-provoking—both musically and lyrically. With 'The Haunting of Silvåkra Mill - Rites of Passage,' Malsten delivers a conceptual narration reminiscent of the dark theatrical sides of metal that would make King Diamond himself proud. The folk horror-themed story revolves around an unfortunate soul succumbing to an ancient evil residing in a derelict mill.
The musical palette is inspired by the heavy riffage of both comtemporary and past doom metal. Yet, Malsten is not your everyday dope-groovy doom band. Fear not, worshippers of the FUZZ! The heavy, mountain-melting riffs are there, and they are heavier than anywhere else. There is also a noticeable grounding in the heavier Swedish metal scene, with its atonal twists and atmospheric qualities. However, with Malsten, you're always entitled to expect more.

Pour la trame de ce dixième numéro de la douzième saison, une petite entrée en matière avec trois groupes de death metal, avec du brutal death technique, du death plus traditionnel et du slam death ! Après la vague death vient celle du black avec trois projets dont un groupe de black occulte, un projet de western black metal (dont on vous a déjà chanté les louanges lors d’une précédente rétrospective) puis un album de black metal ambiant et orthodoxe... Enfin, deux albums pour venir alourdir cette nouvelle émission et compléter la vision assez large du metal extrême de PFA avec un groupe de doom/death emblématique de la scène et un projet de sludge/post-metal qui risque de faire sensation avec ses quatre titres cette année.
