The Rocks Will Cry Out | Love on Display (Part 1)

The Rocks Will Cry Out | Love on Display (Part 1)
Apart from Christ, we are born spiritually stone dead. It’s Christ who makes us spiritually alive—living stones! 1 Peter 2:5, “…you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” As living stones, we can worship God in 2 ways: 1.) We put His love on display through giving generously. 2.) We put His love on display through sharing the gospel openly. Jesus alone has the power to give us life. If the rocks could cry out His praises, they would never stop testifying about who Jesus is and what He has done. Join Pastor Phil Hopper as he shares how we can worship God by putting His love on display. The Christian’s Role in Government

    The Christian’s Role in Government

Why should Christians be involved in government? Godly people engaged in government influence godly outcomes. Examples of Christians in government abound, including Joseph, Daniel, and Nehemiah, who brought godly outcomes even in ungodly governing systems.

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us to be the salt of the earth. Because the Church is no longer “salty,” our society is decaying morally and spiritually.

How can Christians be the salt of the earth? By seeking first the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33).

As Christians, our allegiance must first be to the Kingdom of God and the multi-ethnic family of God. If we seek the Kingdom of God first, we will think biblically, not merely politically.

The Church needs to repent of political idolatry, compromise morally, and spiritual apathy. Only then will the Church again become “salty” – the moral conscience of society.

Join Pastor Phil Hopper as he shares biblical examples of Christians in government and practical ways we can be “the salt of the earth” in politics.

The Call to Go | Matt Carter – Send Network

The Call to Go | Matt Carter – Send Network

Matt Carter is the vice president of mobilization for Send Network, a partnership of people planting churches everywhere for everyone. Before joining Send Network, Matt founded The Austin Stone Community Church, which sent over 300 full-time missionaries to unreached people groups around the world during his time there.

The Great Commission is a call for all believers. Send Network exists to help believers fulfill the Great Commission by reaching cities with the Gospel, making disciples, and planting churches.

3 reasons why every believer should engage in the Great Commission:

    1) Jesus commanded us to.

    2) We have future brothers and sisters in Christ who have not heard the message.

    3) Our generation has such a small window of time to make an impact on the Great Commission, and then it’s over…

Join Matt Carter as he shares what God is doing through Send Network and encourages us to engage with Jesus’ commands in the Great Commission.

The Heart of a King: The call of a leader

The Heart of a King: The call of a leader
Leadership Principle: The call of every leader is to prepare and pass the mantle of leadership to the next generation. In 1 Kings chapter 2, David sets the example of leaving a legacy for the people behind him. To pass the mantle of leadership to the next generation, we must give them 3 things: 1.) Spiritual tenacity. Spiritual tenacity demands a warrior’s mentality – the opposite of spiritual apathy and passivity. When we fail to pass the mantle of leadership and spiritual tenacity on to the next generation, they start to walk in spiritual apathy. 2.) Spiritual integrity. Spiritual integrity means living obediently to the Word of God and the God of the Word. As we pass the mantle of leadership, we must teach the next generation that the blessing of God comes only through obedience to God. 3.) Spiritual legacy. Our legacy should be a family tree spiritually that stretches clear into eternity. We should all have a family tree spiritually that leads the next generation to the Lord Jesus! Join Pastor Phil as he unpacks these 3 essential steps for passing the mantle of leadership to the next generation. The Heart of a King: The Confidence of a Leader

The Heart of a King: The Confidence of a Leader
Leadership principle: Kingdom leaders are consecrated to their cause because their confidence is in God. God’s calling is for us to build an altar with our lives. He wants us to consecrate our lives to Him. You’re consecrated to that which you’re willing to give your life for. God’s calling is for us to live a life of sacrifice. There is no such thing as a cheap sacrifice. A faith that costs nothing will accomplish nothing. David refused to bring an offering to God that cost him nothing. Every part of our life belongs to Jesus. Following God’s calling for our lives demands more than a commitment. It demands a cross. We must be consecrated to Him if we are going to follow Him. It is not too much that we should give our lives as an offering for the one who offered His life for us! The Heart of a King: The Character of a Leader

The Heart of a King: The Character of a Leader
Leadership Principle: The most effective leaders lead with a “limp.” The strongest leaders have learned they’re too weak to lean on themselves. They have learned they must rely on God. Developing the character of a leader often requires a time of character refinement and growth in difficult situations. God grew David’s character in a cave so he could handle the pressures of the crown. How does God refine the character of a leader in a cave? 1.) In the darkness, God shines the light on the hidden idols of our hearts. 2.) In the darkness, God shines the light on our pride that tries to hide. 3.) In the darkness, God redeems us from self-sufficiency and offers us refuge and protection. 4.) In the darkness, you discover what it means to be a worshiper. The character of a leader is often produced in dark and lonely places. God was preparing David to wear a crown through the darkness of a cave! The Heart of a King: Building Your Inner Circle of Friends

The Heart of a King: Building Your Inner Circle of Friends
Leadership Principle: The Law of the “Inner Circle” says those closest to the leader define the success of the leader. Choose your inner circle of friends prayerfully, carefully, and wisely! 3 questions to answer as you choose your inner circle of friends: 1.) Do they have a heart for God? Jonathan’s heart connected to David’s heart because they were both men after “God’s own heart.” 2.) Do they have a heart for the vision? Jonathan recognized what God was doing in David’s life. He gave him his royal robe and sword, recognizing David’s anointing as the next king of Israel. 3.) Do they have a heart for you? Jonathan and David made a covenant with each other that extended to their families and their children, promising to always be for each other and never against each other. Do you have an inner circle of friends that have these qualities? The Heart of a King: Defeating the Giants in Your Life

The Heart of a King: Defeating the Giants in Your Life
Leadership Principle: As a leader, your courage doesn’t come from a lack of fear but a lack of self! A giant represents anything that comes against what God is trying to do in and through your life. The giants you let remain in your life will try to rule. How to Defeat the Giants in Your Life: 1.) Recognize your enemy. 2.) Remember who fights for you. 3.) Respond by faith. Jesus came to set the captive free, but Satan desires to take the free into captivity. Since we are not strong enough to fight independently, we need a Savior. When you believe that God is faithful, trustworthy, and a promise-keeper, you will see a victory over the giants in your life! The Heart of a King: Lessons on Leadership from the Bible

The Heart of a King: Lessons on Leadership from the Bible
Leadership Principle: Your character, not your accomplishment, is the most important part of your leadership. God rejected Saul’s leadership as king because he cared more about his fame than God’s name. Studying lessons on leadership from the Bible, we see that God cares most about our hearts because our hearts define our inner character (See 1 Samuel 13:13-14). Your identity inwardly defines your activity outwardly. We can learn valuable lessons about leadership from the Bible by examining the life of King David. David’s predecessor, Saul, looked like a strong leader, warrior, and king. But he was very cowardly. What did God see in David’s heart? David had a heart of humility. David had a heart of fidelity. David had a heart that longed to be holy. David had a heart that beat courageously. God has a plan for you to be a kingdom leader in some capacity. Like David, you have been anointed with the Spirit of God for leadership in the Kingdom of God if you have received the Son of God! Like David, God is calling us to worship, and He’s calling us to war. Join Pastor Phil Hopper to explore what we can learn about leadership from the Bible by examining the character of a leader in the life of David. Names of God: Jesus - Savior

Names of God: Jesus - Savior
God is very specific with the names that He reveals Himself with. The name Jesus means “Savior.” Jesus came to save us from our sins. Romans 3:23 tells us that all of us have sinned, so we are all under the penalty of sin. We cannot save ourselves. We need a Savior. As our Savior, Jesus offers us 2 gifts… 1. Jesus offers redemption. God’s law demands perfection. Without salvation through our Savior, we are condemned to eternity, separated from Jesus. Since God desires a relationship with us, He sent His Son to pay the price for our sins. Jesus offers us grace and mercy through the gift of redemption. 2. Jesus offers a relationship. When you receive Jesus, the Son of God, you become an heir of God as a child of God! God wants a personal relationship with you, but only you can decide to receive Jesus as your Savior. Names of God: Isaiah 9:6-7

    Names of God: Isaiah 9:6-7
In Isaiah 9:6-7, we find 4 names of God describing who Jesus is. Only as you know who Jesus is can you know who you are! The 4 names in Isaiah each have a personal meaning for believers. 1. Wonderful Counselor - Jesus has the wise counsel we need for every situation. 2. Mighty God - Jesus is a warrior. He is completely unstoppable and all-powerful! 3. Everlasting Father - Jesus is more than a “distant deity.” He came to make us part of His family. Jesus came to reveal the Father who loves His sons and daughters. 4. Prince of Peace - When Christ returns, He will bring peace on earth! Peace can’t be found in your circumstances because they will change. Jesus is not coming to take a side; He’s coming to take over! There are still battles to fight, but Jesus has won the war. The names in Isaiah 9:6-7 remind us that Jesus lives to bring peace to our hearts and lives. The rule of God brings the peace of God. John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace…” Let Jesus rule every part of your life, and every aspect will be filled with peace. Names of God: Immanuel – God With Us

Names of God: Immanuel – God With Us
Immanuel, meaning “God with us,” is one of God’s most significant names. Immanuel is with us in everything we do, which informs how we live and who we are. In Matthew 1:22-23, Matthew says that Jesus is the fulfillment of the promised victory from Isaiah: “So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, ‘God with us.’” Jesus put on humanity to be with us. Names of God: Yahweh Rohi – The Lord is My Shepherd

Names of God: Yahweh Rohi – The Lord is My Shepherd
Psalm 23, one of the most famous and well-known passages of Scripture, reveals God’s name, “Yahweh Rohi,” meaning the Lord my Shepherd. David likely wrote this psalm during personal darkness while running for his life. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want…”—Psalm 23:1 3 ways that Jesus is the Lord our Shepherd: 1. Jesus is our Peace. 2. Jesus is our Protection. 3. Jesus is our Provision. In Psalm 23, David talks about the rod and staff that comforts them. The Shepherd has both a rod and a staff to protect the sheep. The rod protects us from enemies, and the staff protects us from ourselves. Jesus is the Shepherd who came as a man to die for our sins as a sacrificial lamb. Have you placed your faith in Him to dwell in His house forever? The Names of God: Jehovah Jireh

The Names of God: Jehovah Jireh
In Genesis 22:14, we are introduced to Jehovah Jireh, meaning “God Provides.” The story is a picture of God’s provision for our salvation through Christ’s death and resurrection. When God called Abraham to sacrifice his son, Abraham fully trusted God would resurrect his son from the dead. He didn’t understand why God was testing him or how God would resurrect Isaac, but he trusted in His provision and promises. Abraham called the mountain that he climbed to sacrifice Isaac “Jehovah Jireh” because God provided a sacrificial ram to take Isaac’s place. Abraham saw the provision of the Lord on the mountain, and he wanted the mountain’s name to remind himself and others that God is our Provider. God is Jehovah Jireh because He provided a Savior. God Himself became a Man to die as our sacrificial lamb. Because of God’s provision, we get to spend eternity in heaven. The Names of God: Yahweh

    The Names of God: Yahweh
Yahweh is God’s first name. This name reveals His nature as a personal God who desires a personal relationship with His people. In Exodus 33, Moses wanted to experience God. He wanted to behold God’s presence and beauty so He could know Him better. God could not allow Moses to see His face, but He let His glory and presence pass by him. God wants you to know His name to encounter His glory. He is not some distant deity that we pay homage to. He is not aloof and unaware of you. He wants you to know His name and be on a first-name basis with you. Not only does God want us to know His name, He wants us to understand what He is like. He is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. Yahweh is worthy of our praise. Join Pastor Chad Glover to unpack the request, the revelation, and the response Moses experienced in Exodus 33 when he encountered Yahweh. The Names of God: Elohim - God of Creation

The Names of God: Elohim - God of Creation
Elohim is the Hebrew word used over 2500 times to describe the sovereign God of creation. It implies the all-powerful nature of God, who is self-existing outside of time and space. Elohim implies a plurality of majesty, which is the triune nature of God. It does not imply that there are multiple gods, but one God, with a triune Godhead: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. All of creation reflects the image of the triune nature of Elohim. “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse…”—Romans 1:20 Elohim made Adam’s race to bear His triune image. He has redeemed us to have a relationship with Him. Join Pastor Phil as he unpacks the triune nature of Elohim and how we can be His image-bearers on earth! Israel, Hamas, and the Second Coming of Christ

Israel, Hamas, and the Second Coming of Christ
Does the war between Israel and Hamas have any prophetic significance concerning the second coming of Christ? Everything we see happening in the world reflects the warfare in the unseen realm. Satan hates the Jews because they gave us the Savior King, who will forever crush his kingdom. Throughout their history, the Jews have faced one holocaust after another because if Satan can destroy the Jews, he can destroy God’s plan for a Kingdom. God warns that He will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse her (Genesis 12:3). The events happening in Israel and the Middle East are setting the stage for the second coming of Christ. As we watch them unfold, we must remember that Hamas’s violence and brutality do not surprise God. One day soon, He will crush Satan’s earthly kingdom and the corruption of the nations and establish His everlasting Kingdom. Join Pastor Phil as he shares the prophetic significance of the attack on Israel and how it points to the second coming of Christ. Life Change Sunday

    Life Change Sunday
Baptism and communion are biblical traditions through which we communicate obedience to God and proclaim how He changed our lives. We are saved by grace alone through faith alone. However, many people confuse the symbols of our salvation with the source of our salvation. But God did not send His Son to give us more religion; He came to give us redemption. Religion takes the symbols of our salvation, like baptism and communion, and makes them the source. Redemption does the opposite. Salvation is not built on what you do for yourself. It is a gift. Many people know religion but do not have a genuine relationship with God. Jesus came to redeem us from our sins and give us an example of how to live changed lives. When you are saved, God no longer sees you; He sees His Son. Baptism and communion do not save you. They are outward expressions of an inward transformation. Baptism symbolizes a burial, dying to self, sin, and past, and being resurrected to newness of life. Communion proclaims you have received the blood of the Lamb. Join us for Life Change Sunday as we celebrate baptisms and take communion to remember the new life Jesus offers us!
