I’d like to share with you the benefits of OneNote.
I think, like Word this app is under utilized
What is OneNote?
It is part of office 365
OneNote is
your scrap book
your mood board
your miscellaneous bits of information
Out of the 4 different formats
Desktop is King
It’s the one that has all the bells and whistles you are ever going to need
I have started to use OneNote for planning Course material
Full day courses and 90 min Virtual sessions
I’ve set myself a page template
· Topics
· Exercise File Links
· Where to Promote
· Reference Notes
· Related Meetings
You can create multiple Notebooks to share with different groups
It’s a place to store, images and links for your projects
When you save links on your browser – create a folder a bookmark
But you then have to relate it to a word and excel and PowerPoint document.
Put it in OneNote instead
You can email the Notes to yourself or a college
You can assign tags and search by:
Tag Name
Section
Title
Date
Note Text
Search in Current Notebook or other
Create your own tags
Insert
Tables, files,
Create spreadsheets
Video record
You can password protect pages
Link notes to Word doc

Sleep
Interruptions are inevitable but we can minimize them.
Sleep is so important for our mental and physical wellbeing. This is the time the body needs to rebut and heal.
Our stress glands rest and recharge between 11pm and 1 am.
We should get our sunlight between 6am and 8:30 am for at least 30 min
Keep your bedroom at 15 – 20 C for the ideal sleep.
Magnesium is important for sleep. It balances your blood sugar, muscle relaxation and calms the nervous system.
Try setting your phone to Do Not Disturb during the night.
Don’t know about but we have family members from around the world who will text or try and call forgetting what time it is at the other end.
This can disrupt our sleep.
Putting your phone on silent or vibrate is prohibiting you from getting that restful sleep.
I found a setting on my Samsung S21 that allows me to set my sleeping times. I’ve set mine from 10:30pm to 6:30 am
Day
All of that is great for our night interruptions, but what about during the day.
When you are in a meeting or need some time to get a job finished set your phone to Do Not Disturb.
Whenever possible exit out of outlook so you are not interrupted with notifications.
Exit out of all other applications other that what you are currently working on.
This will help with disruptions but also boost your PC speed.
Let people know you can’t be disturbed from X time to Y time. You need to be specific.
Saying I’ll be 20 min isn’t good enough as nobody is going to keep track of- “ is the time up”.
Let people know the time you will be free and what you are currently working on.
If they know you are working on booting the system so everyone can get working again. They will be less likely to interrupt.
If you are working on a proposal that needs to be completed by lunch time, let others know.
You will be less likely to be interrupted when you are doing something that they will needs done.
Place your phone inside the draw. Even looking at your phone can be a distraction.
Don’t feel you have to attend to someone because they are physically in front of you.
It’s ok to say.
I’m working on getting the system backup/ working on a proposal due by lunch.
Can I come get you when I’m done? Should be after lunch, around 2pm.
It’s important to give an estimate time otherwise they will be coming back to you again and again.
TRY: Keep a note pad hand at your desk or To Do task on your phone.
When someone interrupts you, make a note to get back to them and what it was about.
They will feel like you listened and will get back to them.
You can say things like:
· Let’s schedule a time to talk about that
· No problem, lets come back to that in a minute
· We can discuss that later
· Love to hear more, a little later
· I’ll tackle that point later
Every interruption takes over 23 minutes to refocus.
Try focusing on 45 min tasks and take a break, go to the toilet, put rubbish in the bin, make a cup of coffee.
Remember you can’t focus if you are hungry or dehydrated. So have some nuts or fruit and water.
Make sure you take regular breaks, set an alarm if you have to.
10:30 - 20 min
12:00 – Lunch
3:00 – 20 min
Listen to music, your choice.
I find however music with words distracting for me. Each to their own.
