I'm CHUFFED. How About You? - Patisserie Week (Semi-Final S14-Ep9)

Only four bakers left to discuss this week as its the patisserie semi-final.  A perfectly decent signature of fancy financiers is discussed with Lisa stating she'd like to make them some day. And, praise is given for Dan's Hollywood handshake.

Fight for your right to paaaaaaaaarty! (You gotta!) (S14-Ep8)

Fight for your right to paaaaaaaaarty! (You gotta!) (S14-Ep8)

A completely new theme is unveiled for the quarterfinal....  "PARTY"!

Bakers celebrate with their signature sausage rolls, and Lisa reminds us all of the American store-bought crescent roll, and pigs in a blanket. The girls discuss sausage and its iterations on American pizza, and share anecdotes of pizzas past. The somewhat strange caterpillar cake technical leads to its brief British history, and thoughts about it being much more representative of a 1970's kid cake.

The bakers are tasked with creating showstoppers that don't include "beige" items. The girls discuss the successes and failures of such a loose themed challenge.

    Chuffed to Bits! - It's Dessert Week - (S14-Ep7)

It's another dessert week, and Allison speaks to every episode feeling like dessert week. A creme carmel signature has Allison sharing about her serving days at an Italian restaurant. Lisa shares the ease at which she makes carmel, and also gives the bones of a recipe that uses just one ingredient. Both Lisa and Allison scold Paul as he continuously rakes the bakers over the coals in this episode's technical treacle pudding challenge. Kudos given to Christy for producing the girls' favorite meringue bombe, and a brief farewell for Lisa's favorite baker Saku. Dessert week!

Y'all need Cinnamon! - Baking with Botanicals? (S14-Ep6)

Y'all need Cinnamon! - Baking with Botanicals? (S14-Ep6)

The bakers are challenged to create a floral dessert as a show stopper. Allison remarks on the similarities between the cake topping jelly art, and the glass encased roses at the grocery store. Baker Christy's tears over her ganache mold inspires the girls to discuss emotions historically in the tent. Dana creates a much appreciated isomalt botanical box, but its not enough to save her from elimination.  Botanical week!

This episode, bakers tested their pastry skills whilst Lisa and Allison tested each other's taste for poached bacon. A spanikopita bake leads Lisa and Allison to reminisce about one of Lisa's first jobs, and Allison's introduction to baklava at Lisa's wedding. Both girls make multiple attempts at pronouncing the week's  technical challenge- "Daphinois Pithivier", then laud the use of blue cheese in any sauce. When the girls get to the 'display of decorative pies' showstopper, Allison waxes on about too much crust, and the absence of influence on American style pies. Another new star baker, and the girls weigh in on their picks for this season's final three.

This episode, the girls get into a kinder, gentler bread week. Lisa and Allison discuss Paul Hollywood not only learning some sign language, but connecting on a 'BREAD LEVEL' with baking contestant Tasha.

The girls note the absence of sour dough this week, but have lots to say about the cottage loaf signature.  A "normal" technical is refreshing to Lisa, and she shares the success stories from her Facebook group. Allison continues to pull focus with stories from middle school home ec classes, but a star baker is finally named and then celebrated by the Soggy Bottom Girls.
