DeSantis Dominating Florida Polls, D.C. to Dump Mandates, Sec. Granholm's Ethics Dodge

After a lovely day of all good martinis, there's plenty of bad and crazy for Jim and Greg today. And even the good martini is not pleasant.

First, the welcome the United Nations taking five months to confirm what we all saw on October 7th last year - that Hamas used rape and other sexual assault as weapons of war. However, the UN also concluded that Hamas is still likely using these heinous tactics against the hostages.

Next, a two-part bad martini highlighting President Biden's dereliction at the border and new evidence that his administration deliberately and actively flew illegals into the country. They dissect a Daily Mail report detailing how the administration admits, through a Freedom of Information request, that it flew hundreds of thousands of people (with no legal right to enter our nation) to 43 different airports in the U.S. during 2023 alone.

But they also point out a recent segment on "60 Minutes," in which former Customs and Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz says he never had a conversation with President Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris during his two years on the job from 2021-2023.

Finally, Jim and Greg unload on figures at the Lincoln Project and The Bulwark for their unhinged rhetoric aimed at No Labels, the group looking for a third party candidate to run for president this year. Reporting from Byron York quotes Rick Wilson of the Lincoln Project saying No Labels needed to be "burned to the (expletive deleted) ground politically." Jonathan Last of The Bulwark publicly said anyone affiliated with No Labels should "have their lives ruined," including losing their jobs and much more.

First, Jim declares vindication after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that Donald Trump must be allowed on the Colorado GOP primary ballot after that state's supreme court kicked him off based on the insurrection clause of Section 3 in the 14th Amendment. Jim says without a conviction or even an indictment for insurrection, taking such action against Trump was a very weak legal position.

Next, they welcome the University of Florida eliminating DEI ("Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion") programs and personnel. It's not only the right move but it also showcases the leadership of Gov. Ron DeSantis getting this policy through the Florida legislature and University of Florida Pres. Ben Sasse for implementing it.

Finally, they cheer Oregon for correcting a 2020 referendum that decriminalized personal use amounts of drugs, including hard drugs like meth and heroin. Oregon subsequently fell to 50th in access to drug treatment and witnesses a spike in overdoses. Jim says this is another example of how reality did not turn out anything like the experts insisted it would.

There are no good martinis to start the week but Jim and Greg are ready to dig into one horrifically bad martini and two crazy ones.

First, they're incensed over the death of nursing student Laken Riley, allegedly at the hands of a Venezuelan man who entered the U.S. illegally. In addition, the suspect was arrested for assaulting a child in New York City but officials there released him before Immigration and Customs Enforcement could take him into custody. In addition, rather than focus on either of those policy problems, the mainstream media quickly decided that the real story here is that women face risks when jogging alone and, of course, that Republicans are pouncing on this terrible news.

Next, they get a kick out of RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel announcing she will resign in the next couple of weeks and trying to make us believe that major party chairs regularly step down in the middle of a presidential election year.

Finally, there is increasing buzz about former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley running as a third party candidate. But, as Jim points out, her current campaign creates a very big problem if Haley wants to switch gears for November.

Next, they react to the news that CBS not only laid off stellar reporter Catherine Herridge but seized her files, computers, and records, including information about confidential sources. Even SAG-AFTRA is denouncing CBS in very strong terms. Just how big of a threat is this to the freedom of the press?

Finally, they shake their heads as former Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill (who is now an MSNBC contributor) blasts the New York Times for fact-checking President Biden because she thinks they aren't aggressive enough in calling out Donald Trump's falsehoods. This feeds into the maddening view of some on the left who genuinely see the role the media as doing everything it can to help Biden and defeat Trump.

First, they sigh as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield says from a prepared statement she is pursuing a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war and will tirelessly pursue diplomacy "until we reach a final solution." Does no one in her office have a decent grasp on history or have the sense to take that phrasing out of her comments?

Not to be outdone in the dim bulb department, a poll taken after the pro-Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. ad during the Super Bowl reveals that 36 percent of likely voters think that RFK Jr. is actually his father, Robert F. Kennedy, who ran for president in 1968 and was assassinated during that campaign.

Finally, reports confirm that Pres. Biden's dog, Commander, is responsible for 24 biting incidents - mostly against Secret Service agents - and nearly half of them required medical attention. This is the second Biden dog known for its rampant biting, and while Jim says this isn't the most critical issue facing our nation, it does reveal some disturbing trends.
