    • Look at the church of Antioch, it was a great church - This is the first church to look past nationality and race.
    • There are great churches throughout the brotherhood.
    • The greatness of the church does not depend on the size or the structure which they meet at.
    • Four ingredients of a great church
      • Unity - 1 Corinthians 1:10
      • Cooperation - Philippians 2:1-4
      • Commitment of Love - 1 Peter 1:22
      • Dependability - 1 Corinthians 4:2
    • All roles in the church are important, and in a great church these roles are filled with faithful devoted dependable people.

        • The angels are not over the world to come but Jesus is - (2:1-13)
          • Hebrews 2:1-4 is not a digression from the subject, but a conclusion to chapter one
        • There are two dangers in ignoring Jesus and his message:
          • Drifting (2:1)
          • Neglecting His Word (2:2-4)
          • The writer quotes Psalm 8:4-6
        • It's ironic that the way for Christ to reign over the world to come is by being made lower than the angels for a little while in in this world

" How to have joy no matter what" by Hiram Kemp

" How to have joy no matter what" by Hiram Kemp

    June 2, 2024 - Sunday PM Sermon

How to have joy no matter what (Philippians 1)

     Hiram Kemp

Joy (χαρά)-  Biblical joy is an understanding of existence that covers both happiness and sadness and that can accept with creative submission events that bring delight and distress because true joy allows one to see beyond any one event to the sovereign Lord, who stands above all events and ultimately has control over them all.

Receive God's grace and peace - (Phillipians 1:1-2)

Remember the good things - (Phillipians 1:3-5)

“If my world were to cave in tomorrow, I would look back on all the pleasures, excitements, and worthwhileness I have been lucky enough to have had. Not the sadness, not my miscarriages, or my father leaving home, but the joy of everything else. It will have been enough.”

    –– Audrey Hepburn

    How to remember the good

    • Learn how to count (Phil. 3:13)
    • Count your blessings (Psalm 116:12)
    • Share good things with others (Proverbs 25:25)
    • Have a “praise list” not just a “prayer list” (Psalm 33:1; Rom. 11:33-36)

Surround yourself with positive people (2 Cor. 7:6)

Realize God is Working - (Philippians 1:6)

Abound in Love - (Philippians 1:9-11)

Live for a cause greater than yourself - (Philippians 1:12-18)

Resolve to always live for Jesus - (Philippians 1:27)
