In this conversation Annika talks to Christophe Hodder. Christophe is the UN Climate Security and Environmental Advisor to Somalia at the UN Environment Programme. He is the world's first Climate Security Advisor to a peacekeeping mission in Somalia and has been at the forefront of some of the world's most important events, including leading the response against the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, spearheading relief efforts after the Earthquake in Nepal, and delivering life-saving programs in Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Haiti. With over 20 years of international experience, Christophe has worked with a wide range of stakeholders. Today we have Dr. Anne Karpf on the podcast, sharing about her book "How Women Can Save the Planet", her family background and what made her write that book. A research book for people who don't know anything about the Gender-Climate-Nexus. Anne is Professor of Life Writing and Culture at the London Metropolitan University, a writer, sociologist and experienced public speaker. She has published five books, one of which she has won awards with and is the very topic of this podcast. In our conversation today Anne shares about how important her daughter Lola was for her in order to write that book, how the Gender-Climate-Nexus shows in real life and which scenario she envisions for the future. Europe's energy situation has been exacerbated by the war in Ukraine. So, alongside the climate crisis, we have an energy crisis that affects everyone: businesses, individuals, hospitals, etc. Energy is a fundamental element of our world and simultaneously largely responsible for climate change. In this episode, Annika talks to Aurore Dudka about how the lack of energy impacts people differently by their gender. Aurore is an expert in the economics and sociology of energy innovation. She is currently working on her PhD at the University of Milan, Italy, on the topic of women in energy communities, questioning their under-representation and trying to understand the barriers they might face. They discuss Aurore's topic of expertise and she shares her vast knowlege on how to jointly as communities overcome the energycrisis.
