Was this summary helpful?
First of the year. Yeah. Here we come. Here we are. I'm here too. Why that right here. Final show of the year order. Later afternoon. Let's do another one.
All 17, going on 18. Next week will be literally the 17th anniversary. Yeah, had a good show in there last week at Salt Hill. Yeah, that was fun. Yeah. Yeah, I was. Good to see everybody. Yeah, a lot of families. One of the fellas there.
that was sitting across from me. I believe it was, so if a ball sitting there, the one on the right, he left the same time I did, and we were talking on the way out. Really? Yeah. Where was he from? Was it Jake and Joe? It was one of them. He paid the bill. For everybody. Jake paid the bill. He was the one that stayed. Yeah. I think the other one. Joe, that's his brother-in-law, Joe.
Where is he from? Long Meadow Mass. He was an all-American golfer at Dartmouth. Really? And his son was a captain for me. Last year? No. My first year his son was a freshman. Rob. Rob Henley. He's like the New Hampshire player of the year. The last time he is. That's his dad. Yeah. Yeah. Good family. So Joe and Jake went to Dartmouth and married two sisters who went to Dartmouth. And I think their father went to Dartmouth.
Obviously a Dartmouth crew and Rob married a local girl What's her name? Hoffenreffer or something Hoffer from Align they all went to Dartmouth Sarah went to Dartmouth and Rob went to Dartmouth I didn't even think of that and Jake's son Sam who was a went to Dartmouth. Huh? Yeah, it was What was her name from line? I don't know Hoffenreffer, Heffenreffer
I don't know. You know who it is. They related to Billy Breed was her grandfather. Who? Bill Breed. He started all the jakes. Good guy, Billy. All right. Welcome to the buzz. Final show of the year. Merry Christmas. Happy New Year to everybody. How was the Christmas? Great Christmas. No, got together with the family. Had a big meal. Sadie. No, what was it? Wednesday night with all the family.
We had the 29th annual. Yeah. Yeah. It was actually, you know, a lot of people are sick around here right now. Do you know that? Yeah. A little bit of that throwing up. Yeah. A lot of people get the sniffles. And so it was a smaller crowd, but I ended up cleaning up the mess it by 315. I mean, the kids literally, it was like a lot of trays like Jenny and Anna, the whole crew was there with all the, not spouses, but, you know, boyfriend, girlfriends and
I think at one in the morning, they were outside racing up and down the road 40 yard dashes. Really? Yeah. Beautiful. Bob's a pilot. Get those kids and I'm like, there's only eight houses in the neighborhood. Get them kids in the house Bob. Really? It's Christmas night. They're all for 20. I know. They're like 24 to 30. But no, it was good. Good to see everybody and hopefully everybody's feeling better because I know a lot of people were sick.
over the over the Christmas time over that that last week. So yeah, we had a few mission at a Christmas Eve breakfast for work. Oh, you did. And they all had that. They've had it for three, four days. Not feeling very well. I can't get sick. I'm leaving on Wednesday. Hey. No, you know, I'm not going to China sick. It's not a thing. I'm not getting sick. I hope not.
Mark on wood Big Christmas breakfast. I made it for us. I didn't read the old breakfast sandwiches the neighbors come over the home fries I like them the we've had it we've had it for years and the thing that people look forward to with the gauntlets What we call them the gauntlets, so you just take bread dough and you slice it and
in about quarter inch thick and pat it out a little bit stretch it out and put it right in the hot oil and it blows right up just like fried dough like fried dough but you take the the syrup and go right over with it yeah oh yeah
Sugar well, you can't know I get to show the first I understand that but what I ain't found out what tree that comes from Hey, my tree made it through my 50 foot tree. Yeah. Yeah Came through nice 50 foot tree. You saw the video, right? Yeah, I took the top of a 50 foot tree was it It got through Christmas like yeah, it had meaning least to me. Yeah
and we got through it, they put the lights to it and looked just like a perfect Christmas tree. All right, 843-8623, you wanna call and tell us some nice gifts you got. What did I get? What'd you get for gifts? Oh, I got a heated hood, a battery pack. Did you really? Put it underneath my jacket at work. Wow. Work right. I got it. And you know, like the gifts,
The gifts are all the grandkids and kids around. Yeah. I mean, that's just, that's it right there. Yeah. No, we had Adam over Jenny's boyfriend. He's like, I've never seen anything like this. Like we do like one or two presents. I said, I got to tell you, Adam, we scaled it down this year. He's like, what? I go, this was a scaled down version of a Parker Christmas. Really? My gifts are always the chili's gift cards. I always get to my heart.
I got several of those and they're already been used up. Alright, let's get to high school sports. Not a lot going on. We had four games last night. Rivendell beat Sharon. Sharon's own four. Rivendell's one and three. This is in boys basketball. Winz's own three. They lost 58-51 to Bell's Falls. They play Stevens this afternoon. Winzer does.
Randolph B Woodstock, White River Valley, 5-0, beat Danville, 58-46, and the girls side, Hartford, 2-1, 59-31 over 2-2, Rivendell. Oxbow whipped up on Woodstock, 88-24, Oxbow's 2-0, Woodstock 1-3. Hockey, Hannah was playing in a tournament down south.
They tied Bowe and lost in a 3-on-3 overtime shootout. And got in the consolation, beat Trinity yesterday, 4-2, and I think they play today, Hanover High. Harford beat Lab, Bass Gomer, and Stevens, 9-4 yesterday. Harford plays Burn Burton tonight in the championship game over at Harford at 6 o'clock. And the girls side, Hanover girls play LaSalle.
Academy from Rhode Island in the championship game at three o'clock up at Campion. They beat Essex yesterday, six to one.
So there's not a lot going on during the holiday week. I don't know if 11 kids are just never playing the tournament What's happening? Where is the tournament that Lebanon's I don't have any clue. I don't know Hockey lead yard classic starts today 35th annual you've got northeastern versus Providence at four o'clock You got Dartmouth playing my home state Alaska Anchorage at seven
up there at Thompson Arena. And yep, that's tonight at 7 o'clock, hockey. Dartmouth's got a good team. It's actually pretty nice out today. It's like high 20s. So it's pretty nice out for sure.
What do we got going here? So a lot of college football, we'll get to the Red Sox. They lost another guy. You know what? Let's do the Red Sox. We'll go to the break. Okay. They lost another guy. Well, this Corbin Burns just signs with Arizona. Seven years, 210 million. So it's 30 million a year, time seven. They were never on him. They're not on any of the big guys. We've been trying to say this over and over. Okay. I've got this figured out the analogy.
Name me a big car rental place where you'd rent a car if you went on a trip. Hurts. Hurts. There you go. Enterprise. Yeah. The Red Sox are rent a wreck. You can rent a car from rent a wreck. Yeah. That's who the Red Sox are.
So get the Yankees assigned four guys. They missed out on Soto. So they signed four guys that are going to help them, right? Soto gets 14 years, whatever he gets. Burns gets seven years. This guy gets it. We signed a hundred year old, uh, closer Chapman for one year. Yeah. We signed your guy Walker Bueller. Yeah. One year.
And we signed the other guy, the pitcher, two years, who can't pitch this year because he has Tommy John. So we basically got three guys for one year. We spent $35 million. Well, we got one more. Who? Crochet. Crochet. Whatever you want to call it. Yeah, but how many years does he have? Three.
And the only reason he does is because he's on the other team's contract. Right. Yeah. Cheat. You're right. It's like run a wreck. It's what it is. Where are they going with this? I know they're counting on the farm system. I keep hearing about all these great players they have. But this isn't a recipe. So the right hand to bat, he just signed back with the Dodgers Hernandez. Yeah. So who's the right handed bat again? I don't know. Where did the only one
that I don't know where he's gone and if he's signed yet, but where's Alonzo? I don't know with the Mets. No, he hasn't signed that. I know, but he's a free agent. Yes. Yes. Yeah, I know, but he's going to be a D eight. You've already got two first baseman. You get Deborah's and right. Casks is whatever his name. He's he's got a D eight. So let's give away your shit yourself.
and we'll put a lonzo in there. But who wants your cheetah? Nobody. I know who's going to take him. Nobody. Just get rid of him. Yeah. We did sail and we paid twice as much. True. And he was just saw young and a gold glove. I'm off. You just moved. I'm off. Go ahead. You need to talk.
And yeah, nope, I'm off. You can talk. Yeah. I'm not going to hold this the whole show. So I think I can hear you both fine. Yeah. Who was that? Jesse. Oh. So I think that, you know, as I was looking for, really, at the start of this was a couple of good pictures in a closet.
Yeah. Now I don't know what we got in Chapman. He's old. He's been around. He can bring it. I don't know what we got there. Could go either way. But as far as our two new starters,
I'm happy with it, but I wish I would have locked Bueller for at least two seasons. Right. So we got Jesse just sent me this. The Red Sox and Mariners are talking to trade Tristan Cassis for either Brian Wu or Bryce Miller after intriguing deal involving Cassis was at least discussed between the two sides.
Reports of the Red Sox weren't willing to agree to deal that would send Casses swapped to exchange for Lewis Castile. The Red Sox were only open to such a trade if Yoshida was included along with Casses. Now, if that trade was going to happen, the only way it's going to happen is if they signed Bregman. And Bregman's out because Houston already signed it. Guys, they already have a third baseman.
They tried to negotiate with him and he wouldn't take the offer. Bors. Yeah. Yeah, but who wants him though? Right. I don't want anybody to do with Bors. That's just the way it's been for a while. Yeah, but eventually he's going to get exhaust all his teams because who really needs a third baseman? Right. But I mean if you
If you got Bragman, that means you would have had to move divers to first base and then swapped him with Cossess, if a DH in first base. Ah, young pitchers, okay Jesse, so they're gonna give us young pitchers. I don't know. We need a right-handed hitter.
I guess. You'd have one in the lineup. Hey, I'm back. You need to have one in the lineup. God, I hope they don't go out and sign on the hill again. What do you hear that? You know what 30 home runs? He did. Hitting 2.30. That's good nowadays. At least for the red side. Well, striking out 180 times. That's the thing. Yeah, what Deborah's does that? He had good time, Slash. Yeah, he had timely home runs, but...
We're good. All right, we're going to head to break. 8-6-2-3. Get down tonight. Casey and the Sunshine Band. Come back with a sour chop up.
Okay, we got Now it's football playoffs last week Texas Thump Clemson I had a terrible week in the pics by the way you dare yes, I did
I don't think I had a good one, but I don't know. I think you did. No, I think you did. Really? I do. Yeah. I think I might have been 500. Did we have any upsets in college? You kind of knew who was going to win. I took Tennessee over Ohio State. I think that was my downfall. So in Texas, over Clemson, Penn State thumped SMU. Ohio State crushed Tennessee.
You got Penn State plays. Boise. Boise. Coming up. Is that the one with the good Ron and Matt? They play two. Yeah. Boise State. Boise State only lost one game this year. They lost by three to Oregon. How many did MSU lose? SMU? Oh, whoever it was. Don't even know who they lost a couple games. Two. Southern Methodist University. Yeah.
I just don't think these boys are... I know, they come from these small divisions and they can't... Well, they're just not used to the pounding, like the line and stuff. The guys are just so much bigger, but maybe boys these stay, they'll turn that around. So Tuesday we got at noon, we got Bama, Michigan, and the loser ball.
And then you got Penn State Boise at 730 on Tuesday night. That's New Year's Eve, right? Yeah. And then we got Wednesday, Texas versus Arizona State at one, Ohio State, Oregon at five, Notre Dame, Georgia, 845, Georgia's quarterbacks out. Surgery. Did he break something? Oh, well.
Yeah, so he's done. And we have North Dakota State. Look at this bracket for the, this is like the, what is it? FBS, the football. So it's like, you know, UNH, Maine, and that division. Listen to the final four. North Dakota State over South Dakota State, 28, 21.
Montana State over South Dakota 31 17 so you got Montana State versus North Dakota State for the championship game The last time Montana State won it was 1984 the year we moved out there So it's been what's that 40 years since they won yeah, and so that's the championship game today
11 a.m. Yukon versus Bill Belichick's team North Carolina at Fenway Park and the Wasabi Bowl 11 a.m. And then at noon you have Boston College versus Nebraska at Yankee Stadium.
How about they setting up football fields in the baseball? Yeah, but why wouldn't you keep Boston College home in Boston and flip-flop UConn because they're closer to the Yankee Stadium? Right. I don't know. It would make sense for the crowds, but so those are the games. And that's the playoff pitcher for college football. And so it's exciting. I thought it was going to be on. So I don't know.
I mean, I don't know. Who do you think's going to win the whole thing? Everybody's making predictions. On what? Who's going to win the National Championship? I got to believe, and I haven't seen him much, but I got to go with the Oregon. You do. I mean, they're tough. They're something. I'm going to go with Ohio State. I think they have a lot to prove. I think he's coaching for his job.
They lost to a 500 Michigan team this year. I just, I don't know. I think that's how I'm going with Ohio State. You can call and give your picks. 8-4-3-8-6-2-3. I think... So he's fighting for his job. He lost two ball games this year. I know. He's a tell-works. I get it, but I guess it's losing to Michigan. Yeah, but he keeps losing to him.
I mean, Michigan. You know, there are teams that you just don't do. I know, but it can't be the number one rival every year. That'd be like you coached left in basketball and you went 20 and two every year and you lost two games to Hanover. Yeah. I would think that would be pretty good. Yeah, you would. But not everybody around here would in the old days. I'm just trying to give a local example of, I mean,
Listen, I think he's fine. Like they lose one or two games at the most every year. Right. So, but that's that's coming. It's kind of a bummer. It's not on today, but you know, we got like an unbelievable game on it. One, don't you? Patriots charges. Yes. Boy, they look good. We got to take the charges out of the playoff. Would you think of that? Oh, yeah, right. Would you think of that bills game? Oh,
Patriots went out two touchdowns. They go. Oh my god. Everybody said I go That's the last point they'll score right there in the whole game They ended up scoring another one right at the end where it didn't matter Everybody's texting me at 14 to nothing. What's going on? What's going on? How's this possible Mike? Just sit tight
Just sit tight, let it play out. They'll find a way to screw it up. They're not trying to win. Right now, they have the second pick. The Giants have the first pick. They've won two games. Patriots have won three. I know as much as everybody wants to see the Patriots win, they need to lose these two games. This season's over. I don't know.
And I get it. I get what you say. OK, so if they win this game, they're going to be the 10th pick instead of the second. Whatever. But it's like uncle. Last year, they had all the money to spend and they spent it on a line that couldn't do it the year before. Oh, I know, but then right. But they'll find a way to be cheap and will come out and we'll win three or four more ball games next year. I can't go on forever.
Listen, they have a decent quarterback. He's a good player. Yeah. Right. He's better than what we had. Okay. So now you need, you need at least two wide receivers who can catch a ball and create some space. You need an offensive line. I think you find it running back. I think this fumble situation, I think that's overblown. I mean, you're playing on a bad team. Right.
I like him. I like to run him back. I know he's had seven. I know he's had seven fumbles, but he's a good player. He wouldn't have a chance to have seven fumbles. So maybe he would have thought about hanging on to it a little better. But even the fumble last week, he's like one inch from the ground. They poke it out. That's kind of a fluke.
I want to see him get a line and I want, well, keep Henry, but I want to receive us that take double coverage and then let's go.
Yeah, who's that gonna be? I don't know. You better go find them. We're not doing that. I don't want receivers that you can cover with one person because that's the deal. If you got two of them that take it, it widens out everybody. I understand how it works, but it's not gonna happen. Now, answer this question for me. Watch in the game.
Last week, why does everything go to the right and out by the lines? Because quarterbacks throw better role into their right. Every play. And then they decided at the end, we'll go to the left and they scored right there. Because everybody's reading that. Okay. Did you ever stop and think? Okay. So we've talked about this as a player.
And especially in the game of football, any play could be your last. Those guys are trying their asses off. They are trying to win. The coaches and the crafts are not trying to win. That's why they keep going to the right. And that's why I think you possibly could see a whole new coach and staff. Yeah, we should. They got rid of Bill, but they kept Bill's guy.
Right, so what's changed? The only thing's changed is the discipline. There is none. I know the players all of them. I don't think that's a great sign that all the players love their coach. Right. You don't have to love your coach. No. I had great coaches who I didn't like. They probably didn't like me. But I respected the hell out of them. You've been out and give it to them every time you've played. Right. That's the media. Oh my God, the players. He's a players coach. I'm like, a players coach. They're three and freaking
Whatever, 3 and 12. They're having a good time. They're having fun. When in three bogs. Do you ever have fun going 3 and 12? Absolutely not. I never did. I never happened. I can't tell you that. Tell you, if we were ever 3 and 12, last thing I was saying, man, my coach, he's a player's coach. He's got us playing our asses off. Yeah. Right? That's not how it works. I mean, I don't know. I mean, we've been talking. I've never been on a team that's on a regardless way. Only one three game.
Yeah, my freshman year in basketball, we were 0-8 going to the final game down in Windsor. We won an overtime. 1-8, we finished the year. Art piece, now art was a good coach. We had seven freshmen on JV's, art wasn't one of them. That was it though, for me as far as... I played on one bad team, my freshman year in college, doing basketball. I didn't have a lot to do that one. Alright, you listen to the buzz, Richard Woody.
Bye bye.
Yeah, we'll come back to football Ricky Henderson Lead-off hitter gone at age 65 Lisa wife three daughters
played 25 years with nine teams. 1,406 stolen bases, 468 more than the next guy in Lou Brock. He had 130 in 1982. Lead league 12 times the stolen bases. At age 39 he stole 66 to lead the league. Oldest player in history to do that. 3,055 hits.
2295 runs scored 21 2,100 900 walks 297 home runs 81 lead-off home runs 81 times he let off the game with a home run Think about that That's half a season. Yeah 81 times 10 time all-star game
First ballot hall of fame, he got 94.8% of the votes. Who the hell didn't vote for him? Right. He won the World Series with Oakland and Toronto's 1990 league MVP, born on Christmas Day and a Chicago snowstorm. He was delivered in the car. How about that? Unbelievable.
He would have had one more stolen base if he didn't lean the wrong way. The dad shows up at the hospital, all frantic, and they said, where's my boy? And the doctor said the boy's already in the backseat. Yeah. How about that? And so he, uh, he never officially retired from baseball. Teams simply stopped calling him. Pam, his wife would say,
Even when Ricky when his early 60s believed he could still play, if only another team would give him a chance. We would sit by the TV, sit there over breakfast, and he would watch TV, she once said. And he would see how much today's players were making, then he would look up their stats and look at his wife and say, I can still do that. Yeah. How about that? What a career. So we had like a
Bonds passed in my believing walks, but I think he still has the most run score in history of baseball. He has the most stolen bases. I think he died from pneumonia. That's what they say. Yeah. So you know at one time, he was the only player in Major League Baseball who threw left handed and batted righty. There used to be a trivia question. Really? Yeah. Think of somebody throws lefty and bats righty.
There aren't many. No, there isn't. But it wasn't Jacob Woodward would have done. Yeah, he was. There aren't many. No. No. Yeah. So, and who do we just lose Greg Gumbo? We just lost yesterday? Yeah. Right. 50 years in the broadcast booth. He was like a Jimmy V guy. Yeah. 50 years in the booth. We lost Greg to cancer yesterday. You knew his voice in the radio. He was always, you could, he was just one of those guys.
Bernhard Langer and his son beat Tiger and his son. The playoff last week. Did he have a hole in one? Tiger's son did. Yeah. Yeah. Wasn't that dramatic actually? He's like, what? What just happened? Cleon Jones? Who's Cleon? I know Cleon Jones. He played for the Mets. He got to come more than that, Mikey.
He says clean. I know you meant clean on not clean Jones. Yep. So burn hard. So there's controversy somehow something happened. Nobody's sure what because Tiger lost. It's a it's a something happened. I don't know what it was. I have been looked into it. Someone's accused of somebody of something. Tiger said to his kid after he made a home and he need to buy everyone a drink and his kid looked at him and said I'm broke.
His daughter Sam was on the bag for Tiger and Charlie had one of his, looked like his high school friends, Caddy and for him. So that had to be fun. Tiger's out there with his family. But it meant something more to Tiger than just playing with his son having a good time. Well, he's out competing again too with his son and he's out competing and he doesn't get to do that anymore. I'm sure it's a big deal to Tiger. And like winning, he probably wanted to win for his son's sake.
You know, not that he likes enjoys losing, but so the Langer's son played a University of Penn. The kid, they've won it six times. The Langer's, he's won it four times with that kid and twice with his other son. And what about in the senior tour? He's done well with it. Yeah, he's, he's still winning. Right. He's a hundred. Well, that come to an end when Tiger goes with a car? No, Tiger's not going to do anything out there.
No, no, he won't play in it. He might play in it, but what's he what's he can't even get around like well, he's got a car now. Yeah, but I just don't he's got so many injuries and it's surgeries and Yeah, I don't see it happening. I mean it would be good to have him out there I mean everybody be watching the senior tour look at this John Marantz heard again. Yeah hurt that shoulder Yeah
We got sports center on here in the studios here at the Hilton Garden Inn. All right, let's get back to all these football games that they're playing every single day, Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday. I haven't watched one of the ball games. If I watched a ball game, I had Washington on last night against Syracuse. I didn't really watch it. Syracuse owned them. They crushed them. Yeah. I didn't realize the quarterback was that good.
He broke something he broke some records last night. Yeah, Syracuse had a good year. I mean their coach was like There was a weird after the game. He's just standing at the podium like staring at everybody and It was it was kind of a weird they got the trophy. It's it is cool. These bowl games are they give them big trophies? Yeah, good way good way for the seniors to go out. Did Colorado win?
I don't know. Their bowl game? I don't know. Have they played yet? I don't know. I haven't seen any scores. But how about these Christmas day games? Ravens 31 Houston 2. How about the Christmas day games on Netflix? Yeah, watched them both. Yeah. I get it. You getting Netflix? Yeah.
I don't get it though. You hear LeBron's pissed? No. LeBron goes, that's the NBA games on that day. That's the day for the NBA. NFL doesn't belong on Christmas Day. Did you see 5 million people watch the NBA games? 24.5 million watch the NFL.
The NFL is not going away. Right. You know, this is a... No, I get what LeBron's saying. They've always had... They've always had basketball on Christmas. You're right. So... Yeah, but no one's watching basketball. You had two games on Christmas. Then you had one the next night. Yep. And now you go into... When do they play again?
The guys that played on Christmas, when are they playing? Do they play this Sunday? What, football? Yeah. No. So you, no, Casey wouldn't play this. No, because there's only one game left. They all have one game left. The guys that played on Christmas. So they just have a shortage of games on this week. Yeah, we're going to find out when Bob calls in. How about the Chiefs rolling?
I still don't think they're going to win. Fifteen and one. Yeah. The charges. What was the other stinker? Seattle six, the Bears three. Right. Six to three, an NFL game on Thursday night. Good defense. Yeah, right. I think they made a mistake taking that quarterback. I think they wish they had the guy from Washington. The lefty? No. The guy won the Heisman. Jalen.
the quarterback for the jadon daniels jadon daniels oh yeah yeah for the commanders i'm sorry it's not just gens anymore he's had a hell of a year bow nix is had a hell of a year he's playing good you know i know whatever you can say Drake man but the bands like the patrons they have way more weapons yeah they do he's just a bad ag that kid but everybody knew that
I don't know. Let's put it this way. If they had to redraft, do you think the Bears would take him? Well, of course they would. They would. They would. Everybody was worried about him. House Guinea isn't stuff. He's played amazing. I mean, that was a hell of a win over Philly last week. Yeah. I mean, they've been doing well. They got a shot for the playoffs. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. They're having a great year. Yeah. CD Lamb out for the few Dallas fans.
He had a good year. You had over a thousand yards receiving, I guess, if you go and buy statistics. Now both of your payrolls are gone. They have five Pro Bowlers out for the year. Dallas. Dak. Dak and Martin. Yeah. Dak and Lance. How much are they worth together? He's 90 mil. That's more than the whole Patriots roster.
Give us a call back, E-4-3-H-6-2-3. Listen to the buzz. Bam! You know what? Cooling the camp played last night.
Down at Fox Woods Man, I would have killed the girl that why didn't you go let him find out till Wednesday? Cooling the gang imagine that Cleon Jones 1969 with the Mets through lefty bedded righty. Yeah, thank you Mikey Merry Christmas. Happy new year to you and your family
Okay, so we got we're gonna do our picks after the top of the hour It looks like we all did better than we were thinking Bob just send sent us a little text Here's one for you Teddy Bridgewater Remember Teddy Bridgewater the quarterback. Yeah Comes out of retirement to play for the Lions this week So teams have been calling him for like weeks and
But he wouldn't come out. He coached his high school alma mater to a state championship in Miami, Northwestern High School. They were four and six last year. He came in. They went 12 and two. And then the five game playoff run, they outscored their opponents 262 to 12. He's coming back and he's going to be the backup quarterback for the Detroit Lions. Why? They don't have one. They do.
They just, the coach said, this guy's a veteran. He's been in the room before. They love having him around. I need some leadership. It's like Jared Goff's actually happy that he's back to it. I back him up and yeah, it's just bringing in some leadership. Basically. So I think that's a good move. See, that's what good teams do. They get better. Right. Right. This is one of the top five teams in the NFL and they're still trying to get better.
And that's how you win. Now this Dan Campbell, he's a little squirrely for me, but they're winning. They, I mean, he's great in a regular season. He's just got to push him over the top. But honestly, if Dan just kicked extra points instead of doing his two point thing, they would, they could possibly win it. Right. You think about all the time these teams that go for two, they don't get it. They don't get it. And then we come down or an overtime. Yeah. Now, if we just take the point, point, point, point, point, right.
Right. There's a time to take the two points. Yeah. When you're down eight. Yeah. And you're trying to tie it up. That's, you know, I mean, Bill never did that. He did it when he had to. Like I said, CD lambs out for the year. He's the fifth, fifth pro ball player for Dallas who's done for the rest of the year. They have four of us. So would they be out for the year if they were winning? They're done.
I mean, you got a bad ankle, a bad foot. You got a bad knee, Dak pulled his hamster, and now CD Lam's got the shoulder. He got thump, he got thump, Dallas is playing good. I know they're out of the playoffs, but he's, they've been playing good. Yeah. I know it's too late, but unfortunately for Dallas fans, they're going to end up keeping their coach. Yeah. That's all that means. I mean, Jerry's on the hugging and kissing him the other day after the
How about we get rid of Dak and keep the quarterback you got? Lot cheaper. He's played pretty good. He's been good enough. How much does that money guarantee to get 60 million a year?
Everybody knew that was a bad contract though. Didn't they? Yeah. Didn't we know that? Even we knew that. So in the years, Dak's been quarterback, how many years has he gone to the division championship? Zero. Out in the first week or mostly in the first week. In the second round.
Yeah, I know. How does that deserve $60 million a year? Who is it? Tim. How are you doing, Tim? Good. How are you? Good. I just, I have, I don't know if I missed someone else calling. I have results from the like the lab care center tournament. Yeah, I'd have to ask Alma. Sure. Love to hear him. Yeah.
Kid Sarge beat Lab in the consolation and hand over beat Mass Colma in the championship game. No kidding. Yeah? Who did, who did Lebanon play? Who played in the first round? I'm trying to think, because I wasn't there. I worked last night. I think it was Mass Colma Lab, if I'm not mistaken.
And then he and over Kia Sarge. Was that Thursday night? That was Thursday night. And then the second round was last night. How was the crowd? Not as big as I mean, being masculine in the championship, you know, masculine are rich. Yeah. I thought they'd be a bigger crowd. Yeah. I mean, they don't have a huge place to sit, but it was it was a good tournament. It was yeah.
uh... and of a high's back mask always got a good team to go right he do uh... i guess the people are missing i don't know if they were they played a lot but someone said they were going they went to a seltics game last night all of us didn't have everybody but i didn't did handover did they lose in the finals last year who the hell goes to a seltic game when you're in the finals of a christmas tournament well i think that tournament was put together
I went there at the last minute, but I was only assigned it recently. But the only other thing I want to add is the pick for who's going to win the college football. Yeah, who you got? I'm going to go with Notre Dame because Pat Walt would have liked it that way. I tell you what, Pat's had a lot of disappointment in the last 50 years, but you're right.
All right. Awesome. You guys. You too. Take care. Yeah, man. All right. Yeah, that's going to be Tim. That's what we need is people calling Tim Dauphinay, wasn't it? Yeah.
Yeah. Was it? Yeah. I think so. Who else is going to give a Pat Walsh reference? Yeah. Timmy grew up in that building. Yeah. Grew up over there on West Street. He used to walk by his house seven times a day. We were sitting on the radio. I thought we went down. You guys are at the top of the hour now. I did have to play you off, but I did keep him on air. So if anybody listens after the show, they can go ahead and hear that entire phone call. Okay. All right. I'm on my mics in an hour.
All right, welcome back to the buzz. We're gonna do our picks here. February 8th is the fuel fund fundraiser at the Legion. Thank you for everybody who's reached out with the music. I'm gonna let the Legion pick the DJ. I'll talk to him the other day.
February 8th Saturday, we're gonna do the fuel fund. We're just gonna try to raise some money. I gotta get this stuff out and I'm leaving Wednesday. I gotta get moving on it. February 8th, love to see ya. Probably be like five to ten. Yup. Raising money for the veterans, the fuel fund. Get them through the winter. Turn me on. Turn me on. Then go and throw a cold one of this year. Yup.
Yeah, I'm sure we're two a thousand bucks in there the other day So if you go to the Legion just they put it right in the register. There's a button that says feel fun Yeah, so if anybody wants to drop some money off there instead of dealing with Everything that you don't want to be bothered with it or whatever Who is it? Hey? Happy New Year boys. Hey New Year Bob
what's happening to you well we had a good week until when you you were bombarded but all of us were twelve wins last week i didn't think i did i took i went against the chiefs again the first game yeah big mistake i kind of texted you boys i was the one that picked the chief i thought i'm going to pick against my home you're right in me he wrote me i'm like is he crazy okay so what what are the standings at okay standin's right now
Hotches in last place, 146. Woody's third place, 149. You're 154, and I'm 157. Wow. Two weeks left. Two weeks left, right? Yeah. That's right. Are we going to the playoffs with this?
Well, of course we have. Okay. We got plenty of time. Okay. Oh, we do. All right. The first game charges out in the wing one. Charges. Yeah. And I'm going charges this week. Boys, I learned my lesson. You said that every week. I know. But I'm going charges this week. Then we're at Cincinnati. Wow. Got to go, Cincinnati.
I'm going playing good right now. Yeah, I'm going. I'm going Denver. You're going? Of course you are. You're already in. No, they're playing good. No, they're playing good. Yeah, that's a toss-up one, Rich. I just like Joe Burrell, so I'm going to say. Listen, Bob, this isn't an essay question. Just pick your team. You have to explain. You went in the pool, kid. OK, Arizona at the Rams. I'm going Rams. Yeah.
rams too next in the at the new york giant runo's new york come on giant to get in the first pick they've got two wins they don't want to win the i heard you before you're right you're right so you take the giant i'm going to be okay the jet at buffalo oh boy that's a tough one yeah come back to that one yeah
I'll call Buffalo. You never know. I'll take Buffalo. Tennessee at Jacksonville. Two bad teams. I'm going Tennessee. That's a boy. I'm going Jacksonville. You're going Jacksonville. Yeah. I'm going Tennessee. I'm going to go back to go Berkeley last week. Las Vegas at New Orleans. Saints.
Los Vegas. What he's going to do is again. Yeah. Vegas. Vegas is. Thanks. But I'm going New Orleans. Carolina. Carolina Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay. They got a bounce back.
Right, I'm going Carolina. That was a good game, Tim. You're going Carolina? He's trying to catch hutch. What are you trying to catch hutch? I'm going Philly. Who we got? Dallas at Philly. Hurts is out, concussion. The other guy got hurt, but he's playing.
I'll go Philly. I'll go Philly. Yeah, I'll go Philly. Dallas is all banged up, like you said earlier. Yeah. I'm Miami. Miami. I'm not Cleveland. Miami.
What's Cleveland's record? I don't know, I'm going Miami. I'm not even sweaty and it perks. I say, you want to come back? Bring back Jamis. But they don't think they want to win though. Let's come back to it. Let me look up their record. If they only have three wins, I'm taking Miami. I mean, Cleveland's had the first pick every year for 20 years and they're still not doing anything. So it's not like they're three and 12. They're three and 12. I'll take Miami.
They don't want to win. They want the top three picks. Yeah. Yeah. And then the big one. Green Bay, Minnesota. Mmm. Boy, that's a tough one right there. I'm going to go. I'm going to go. I'm going to Vikings. I'm going green Bay like you, Bob.
You know, that's right. You don't like your dream. You don't have a choice. And then Hot Lanta at Washington. Oh, I got to go watch Washington. Yeah. I'm with you too. Pennics can't pull this one up. And then Monday Night Football Detroit at San Francisco. Oh, that's a tough one. I don't know. We got to be resting some people. We got Teddy Bridgewater.
Teddy Bridgewater, I know. See him. Is Sam Fran? Are they out of the playoff pitcher? Boy, they're close. Pretty much. Yeah, I think I think it's now down between LA and Arizona. And that coach is not going to lose a game on purpose. I'm going Detroit. Yep. Detroit. Yep. Me too. Yeah.
Yeah, it's tough betting against them. Detroit. OK, now college football. Yeah, playoffs. Texas and Arizona State. Texas. Yeah, Texas. Texas. Yeah, I don't I don't think Arizona State plays the schedule like Woody said earlier. I don't think they get enough surface. OSU and Oregon. Well, how's state and Oregon? I'm going OSU. I have to. Oregon.
What do you expect in Oregon? Okay. Penn State and Boise State. That's going to be a tough one, but I'm going to go with Penn State. I'm going Penn State, tougher schedule. I'm going Boise. Boise. Boise. Boise. I know you like them, Rich. You like that running back. And then Notre Dame, Georgia, as you say, Georgia's first quarterback's out, but I'm still going Georgia. He is out and I'm still taking Georgia. Yeah.
Yeah, he's all but that that second kid isn't that bad I'm gonna go off the board now today. Oh pat watch pick. Yeah That's gonna be the upset right there Okay, now we can yeah, and then next week we'll have to get down into the nitty gritty So I'm gonna have to send my picks in from China China
I'm going to China to do two golf camps. I'm leaving Wednesday. Oh, wow. Wow. I'll try to go. Can we coordinate? Yeah. I'll try to call you 13. They're 13 hours ahead of us. So what would that be? 11 o'clock at night. Glad to be good for you because you can pick and watch them too to see you. I can watch the game first and then do my picks. See, I knew it.
No, it's a no 10 in the morning here right now is 11 o'clock tonight there, so I'll just have to stay up a little later. Yeah Yeah a little later. So how long a flight is that red? It's 15 and a half hours to Hong Kong
And then I'm going to Macau on the first part of the trip. So I don't, I think that's like, it's pretty close to Hong Kong. Then I come back to Hong Kong, fly to Chengdu and do a camp there for five days. So yeah, it's 15 and a half to Hong Kong to Boston either way. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. Well, that's a lot of movies. Yeah, man. That's seven movies going over six coming back. Yeah. Wow. Wow.
Well good luck this week. Happy New Year to you, Bob. Good to see you last weekend. Same to you. And yeah, safe travels for sure. And you guys have a great time this weekend. So yeah. All right. Yeah. See you, Bob. All right. Take care. Yeah. Bye bye. Let's thank the sponsors. Jake's Market.
everywhere. Kid is automotive. They can't fix it. Scrap it. Happy birthday to Brownie. He made another one this week. Upper Valley Stove, Shawnee Griffin, Wilson Taya, home of the Buckpool. Keep you rolling a little on Richard's Electric over there in Wilder. Marsh Brothers Delly on vacation. HP roofing. It's it's there's no such thing as roofing season. They're roofing not goofing. Martin's mechanical. My favorite plumber. William Smith auctioneers.
Trages drove will back to Virginia and then turn around and came home two days JS out of body with Toby down in Florida playing golf with causing Scotty Peters this weekend Bubba's bar and grill when the bubats
Field and Sons, out of Grantham, moving modular homes and mobile homes. Peyton plays signs with Chad Hemingway, Barton Concrete, Hilton Garden Inn, where we reside today. Lundy's lawn care, he's playing field auto, Allen's vending, home of the hotline, and Patches Farms up there on the hill. Thank you, everybody. Happy New Year to all our sponsors. And we look forward to year 18, I guess. We're going to another one. Oh, yeah. Here we come.
Wow. Who knew? We're going to try it. Yeah, you're never going to stop. You didn't stop them. One of us dies. That's when the show stopped. So I went out and got to be careful out there because I went out to Little Goose yesterday, cut some holes. Goose pond. It's talking nice for some people. Little Goose.
Not big goose. This little goose. Right below it. Towards Pleasant Valley Store. I never knew there was a little goose pond. Oh yeah. You learned something today. I did, yeah. Try down the right as you're going towards goose pond. It's only about maybe a quarter of a mile from goose. Okay. But a cut a hole there was a foot of ice there. I guess if you want to take a kid fish and that would be the safest place.
There was 12 inches there And up on made stone 12 inches of ice not up on made stone That's been froze over for a while. I don't I don't get it I don't I don't know you know some reason They went up there. They got out of their truck. It was minus 12 thirsty and they the whole thing's frozen. They had four inches and
That's not enough is it? 50 feet out, it went to an inch. Did they go out? They left. I was gonna say. Yeah. So what a, you know, make sure if you're going on some ice, cut your way out. Hmm. Where's the made stone? Made stone. It's up on the Canadian border.
Wow. It's not frozen there. No. What about is Mascoma frozen? Yep. They were fishing Mascoma off from the where the old hotel used to be. Right there. By the other end. Has by the underpass. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They were fishing there about 50 yards out. I have no clue what they had for us. Crystal. Don't know.
Make give us a call if they're ice fishing on your lake. We've got plenty of people sitting on a lake right now listening to the show. Okay, so back to baseball. The Astros signed first baseman Christian Walker. Three is 60 million. I would love to see that. A red sock guy do that.
I really would. I read it every day. Get on the ESPN website. This guy signed for four. This guy signed for two. Red Sox signed the guy for, you know, some little Debbie Hostess donuts and a freaking tie-in sub. It's unbelievable, but it's so cheap. Celtics. Big win last night, but they have been sputtering. Yeah. And all fairness to the Celtics.
They've only played three games this year with their starters. Really? Yes. We'll come back to it. Yeah. We'll talk about it. On the road to Shambhala. Oh, yeah. That's where you're going for your golf thing, isn't it? Shambhala. Shambhala. Yeah. Shambhala. This three-dog name. Oh, yeah. Man. On the road to Shambhala.
Momma told me Momma told me Momma told me Momma told me Momma told me Momma told me Momma told me Momma told me Momma told me
Don't you know that it's where it's from, son? So, we got... Yengus out again? Yeah, Pussingus. Can he stay on the floor? No, sprained his ankle the other night. Yeah. I know, like I said, they've only had the starters together, three games. I mean, you go ahead and talk about Tatum. Like, people are talking about him. I'm not. Talking about him. I just...
I just got mixed feelings with him. I just don't see him. You know? It's hard to, I know, I know from the outside looking in like, like we talk about it, like we talk about this with our friends. Like we got like Alex is here from Virginia. I went down to a wedding in New Jersey. Like they think we're crazy that we don't think the Celtics are like the best team. You know, even the kids said to me last night,
When I had his friends who came up yesterday, I met him for the first time yesterday. I gave him the chilies experience the whole bit. And we were watching the Celtics game last night. He's like, aren't you guys the champions? I'm like, yeah, we are. I said, he goes, what are you complaining about? I'm like, just watch our $60 million player. Brown was awesome last night.
I mean, he was getting aggressive. You don't see Tatum getting like that for whatever reason. He looks like he's out swear to me. He's a hell of a rebounder though. He gets over 10 rebounds a game. He's still, he's rebounding the hell out of the ball. Tatum. He really is. Like if you keep up with what, cause these kids are all doing the fan duel stuff. Yeah.
you know ten rebounds but he's like he's over on his rebounds every night like he's he is rebounding the ball i just wish he could like you know when he gets it like you could never like how many assists he doesn't get any assists because he's just it's you know his possessions are just him you know this is a tatum possession i'm gonna dribble for twenty seconds and take a bad shot right and then he goes into the street where you think oh my god this guy's unbelievable
But if he, when he comes out of the game, because Missoula, that's another story in itself, when he, he likes to take Tatum out for five minutes or four minutes, right? They know Sip Brown. When Tatum's off the floor, the Celtics are really good. Yeah. They're really good with Adam. They're fun to watch. They move the ball. I don't like how they always have five guys, 30 feet from the basket and there's no offensive rebounding. There's no putbacks.
I think if you had another coach and take advantage, because they're a long team. I mean, Posingis is seven feet, Al's 6'11, Tatum 6'9, Brown's 6'7, White's probably 6'4, 6'5, right there. They are so long, they could dominate the paint, the offensive rebounds. If they chose, they could play an in and out game. I know Missoula's totally hung up on the three point line.
And we've seen how that what they've lost three they last six games Yeah, cuz they're not hitting their three it has nothing to do with personnel They have the players. I mean, what's his name is playing out of his mind? Pritchard. Oh, yeah, he's playing great. I like the big guy who comes off the bench Kite he looks like Tom Kite. I know he's not I
Oh, what's his name? Number 40. I don't know. He's a good Luke Cornette. Cornette. That's what I knew it was an inch. Yeah, Luke, clarinet. He's pretty good, right? They have good players. They should be winning these games. I know they're not going to win every game. We don't expect that. That's not what we're saying. But we're looking for a brand of basketball. I love it when Tatum's out of the game. They pass the ball. That thing's a hot potato, right? They're looking
You know even they drive a little dish it out because they want the three But they get close enough to it's just it's hard to work. I guess we just used to burden them You know us older people not the youngsters. I'm sure the youngsters love Tatum and
But it's hard to see Pritchard going to the basket more than Tatum. He got like last night he had a triple double. I think he was two assists short of a triple double. No, he got the assists, but he didn't get two rebounds. He had eight rebounds. He's 5'11. And the big guy stuck it away from him.
He had the ball coming down. The big guy slid over, took it. Oh, he did? Yeah, at the end. And then another one slid over when Pritchard was going up to get it and took it away. We watched that whole game last night. And then I, you know, I already did, Bob. I sent you a picture of Hutch's picks. Oh, it didn't go through. Sorry. I'll try again. Not a lot of service. Okay, Luca, don't you?
be reevaluated in a month, strain calf. It's the third time he's had the same strain calf. Now, there's a guy that I would take, and I said it last year in the playoffs. He was hurt last year in the finals. Yeah. He's averaging 28 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, right? Yeah. Now, if you get him a coach like that, he respected and get him into the scheme of things of a team, he would be. Yeah.
really good player and he's young I'd do that swap in a minute he's young yeah we said that last year Tatum for Lucas yeah I think that'd be a great trade for us Tatum can go do his thing maybe he's closer to home I don't know where he's from but maybe I know he's not from New England but I imagine trading him for Luca yeah how fun that would be for us to watch like he's just
You know, he's got all the little tricks. He can get to the basket. He can make the threes. He does it all. Jimmy Butler. Pat Riley's not trading him. Those rumors have been going around now for a couple of weeks. 18 points a game, five rebounds, five assists, making 49 million this year, 52 million next year.
but he's got a player option he's gone. They should trade him because he's not coming back. These are the teams he wants to play for. Sons, warriors, mabs, or rockets. He would make three of those teams really good. The sons, for some reason, are kind of like the Cowboys of basketball. They just can't show up in the playoffs. But the warriors with him and Steph, or the mabs with him, Luka, and Kyrie,
Oh, the Rockets. The Rockets are good. They got the good coach. Those three teams, if they had Jimmy Butler, that could be something. But I don't know why Pat wouldn't trade him. He's not staying. Like we all know he's not staying. You're going to lose him anyway, so get rid of him.
Yeah, I would dump him. If he doesn't want it, if he's talking about these are the teams that he wants to play for, who, who does that? Like, you know? Right, but can they make him so forward? A bottler at 50 million. Well, Cuban's out, right? Yeah. So I don't know who's running the mabs. I would assume the Rockets can. The ways of always had a high payroll. They don't have the other guy now.
Thompson right, but he weren't a 50 million dollar boy. No, he wasn't but he was 20 25 30. What's curry making?
He's kind of underpaid for what he does. Right. So do you bring a guy in and pay him more than Curry? Well, Curry would probably take a little cut and pay like he's that kind of guy. Yeah. No, I get it. And Jimmy would too. Wait, if, okay, if you had a chance to play with Steph Curry and you get out of a $52 million contract and you have a chance to play with, to win a championship with some guys around you,
I mean, at some point, what's the difference? 40, 50, 60 million. How much money do you need? They've made a ton of money. And I get it. The player's union doesn't want anybody to take a break. They want him to get all the money they can get, so the next guy can get his money. I totally understand that. But honestly, Pat Mahomes is underpaid. And I mean, Dak Prescott makes more than Mahomes.
Well, just look at Brady. It's the same thing. He wanted people around him. Oh, I understand Brady was was one of a kind like it. Well, was he like it between the 12th and 15th highest paid quarterback? Yes, prime. Yeah, in the league. He didn't care about that, but but he also was like thinking, okay, I'm making 24 million what I could make 35. Okay, if I make 24 24 24 24. Okay, there we go. There's what?
96 million in four years like I can live on that I Know but I'm just saying that's not how it's like get mine get mine. What do they call it? They got the bag. Yeah, right? We see these guys get paid and then it's over they just stink to join out and it's just I don't know But I'd take I'd take an old Jimmy Butler because he's tough He's a gamer. He plays her. I know he's hurt right he's been hurt, but he plays her and
Right? And he's like, I'd take Jimmy Butler, I would. I mean, when's Tatum's contract up? Jesse, can you look that up? Like, is he? Because I know they're not happy with the Boston crowd. You heard it. They want it last year. Now what are they going to say about us? Right. Is they're listening to the noise, right? They must listen to that Boston radio station, crapping them on them all the time. You know, they finally want it. And you know what? People said the same thing I said. They want it. But.
Every series they played the best player on the other team was hurt. Yes. Every single series. So did they win it? Yeah. They won it. But the stars aligned. Yeah. So this year we'll see what happens, right? Right. Pusing up until the 2030 season. Oh, he is. Yeah. He just signed one of those mega deals. It's a five year, 314 million dollars.
62 million a year. 62 million a year. Wow. Boy, he really stinks. 62 million dollars a year. And I mean Brown's right there with him, right?
So that's the owner of the Celtics selling his shares because they are literally losing money, the Celtics. But we had an owner who wanted to bring a championship back to New England.
Now he's going to sell the team. This is all going to get broken up. They're going to get traded or whatever it is. They're going to break up this dream scenario. So we better win it the next year or two. Yeah. And then we're going to turn back into the red socks and the pads. We should be all right if we don't play the void. Yeah, right. Orlando. All right, listen to Buzz, Rich and Woody. Give us a call. E4-3-8623.
Fucking in the back. Holding in back. Dream's gone baby.
Good North Carolina just ran a kickoff back at Fenway Park. But they threw a flag. What's happened, buddy? What's the call? Holding. Touchdown. Counted it. Ah. Yeah. It was a 95-yarder Fenway Park. They kicked it to Wright Center. Up the gut he went. Kicked it in on the first baseline. Who is it?
What's going on fellas we were just gonna I was just gonna do you think that Josh Allen is hurt? Yeah, he's playing with a broken hand dude. I know that's his left hand. He heard his right hand last week Yeah, yeah, I mean it was a stinger he hit it off someone's elbow, you know, I mean I thought it was his pinky
Yeah. Okay. I don't know how to throw him. He doesn't, I don't know. I hate to give you the bad news, but I don't, I don't, three weeks ago, I would have picked the bills. I'm not, I don't see it. Not because of the Patriot game. That's nothing. That didn't mean anything. I just think he's hurt.
uh... will be uh... will see what happened sunday man i think it's going to light them up i think he's getting tired of them to be stopped like you said it was a man i don't care if i was like we're going for letters here and i love it that means you know when i mean you're playing the jets with the what the hell they're going to light up what do you tell them they're going to light up the jet my hope so
well you don't do it this seventh-range you know defense in the NFL you realize that right they've been that team is in disarray but they got some studs they can play uh... you know you know i'm just going to pay a great point about the m b a i haven't watched the m b a since the bird area idea i think i just can't watch anymore nobody is it's it's yeah i mean there's nothing you know it is funny because while i was waiting
your member birds inbound past the d.j. i believe it against against Detroit right? Detroit yep yeah i'd win it yeah i mean that was strategized you saw a bird go up the d.j. of all people he was like hey dude just uh you know all right there's what we're gonna do inbound's past bank so yeah it you know all it is now is a bunch of seven-foot woodsies throwing trees
you know they've just what they've lost the identity man i think it's just i don't know i don't get it if i didn't you know it would be tough being a youth coach trying to coach basketball right now
You don't know what I'm saying? Well, it is. But the problem is for these kids coming through. It's all AAU. There's no fundamentals, right? They just throw the ball out and off they go. So there's no, you know, they just traveling the country, all these great players. They're just playing with other good players. You know, the role player is gone in basketball. There is no such thing as a role player.
either i'm starting or i'm not playing you know it's just crazy however how it's all played out but yeah and you got you know you got the you know loud mountain well you know basketball is for christmas day sorry man if the product was good it would be you know if you remember christmas day when we were growing up it was self-dicks Lakers right self-dicks
you know chicago yeah you know they were banging bodies they were playing you know it was like you know it was like enjoyable i mean it's hard to miss it they weren't hugging and kissing after the game either
yeah right yeah they hated each other you remember mccail taken out rampits when he's going up for the layout you know layup you know that stuff over with and it's just like in a they're like scratching the head like well why aren't people watching this because it's boring you know there's no strategy to it anymore you know i could go on his ass and set in a pic now it's a flagrant foul
Yeah, that's a great point. You know, that's Yeah, I know man. Hey, um, so you're doing that thing for February 8th February 8th. Yeah Okay, man. And now that's a Saturday. So you'll be doing a show, right? That's a sanity. We'll do the show and the event's gonna be at night February 8th. Is that? Yeah, I get it. When's the Super Bowl?
all jesus i don't know man i don't know we just as a funny mean do you know i have confidence more than we just like booked a a zillion hotels you know right through the championship weekend you don't know what's going on you know right uh... they are at the worst
I'm not, I'm not laying out 10 grand for the Super Bowl. If by chance they make it, we're going to Buffalo spend a week there, you know, it's February. Oh, yeah. Oh, so that's Super Bowl weekend. That's perfect. So the, I didn't even know that when I decided the date. So the Super Bowl is on that Sunday. We'll have the party Saturday night. Yeah. The fundraiser and then we'll go right into the Super Bowl. Well, maybe that night you can fly out to LA or wherever it is.
No, I'm not a good dude. Like I said, I've been looking at tickets. It's like paying grand for nosebleeds. So what I do is I just drive out there on Sunday, watch the Super Bowl and Buffalo and they win. I'm just going to stay out there for the parade and stuff like that, you know. Boy, you're really getting ahead of it. Did you get your hotel room for KC in the conference final?
like we just did it today and i said we might have to go to kansas city for that one hunt but get one anyways because you never know right now what what's big is what's going on today i mean you got the charges and we're both playing the Cincinnati they still can get in there so it all depends on what those guys do you know what i mean so just kind of because i'm in fantasy so i'm looking if i got players all week it is it's crazy you guys were talking about all these football games but
I made the championship, but fantasy, I've been watching every one of them. I've had a player in every one of these games. I've got to believe it or not. I think the listeners think you're living in a fantasy world with getting out of these hotel rooms. I'm just saying. Is that the fantasy you're talking about? Well, what do you talk about? Build a good man. We're healthy this year. We'll be in the playoffs healthy. You're cool. That's the key. Healthy. Your quarterback's not healthy. OK, so listen, I think he's the MVP. But that being said, did you know that?
Who's the quarterback for Baltimore? Lamar. Lamar Jackson. Yeah, yeah. He has 13 more touchdown passes than Allen. Yeah. That's kind of important. I mean, yeah, this MVP stuff is just getting, I was just, you can look it up. You know, after I hang up,
e s b n is pushing a racial aspect of why lemar should be envy big he's already made it twice it'll make you feel it'll make you feel it already run it i know he's won it twice i think josh alan's the MVP what he's done with his team
You know broccoli's got a case for himself. He's Philly's way better with him But Josh Allen does everything like he's got you know rushing touchdowns. He's tough He's playing hurt his team's winning. They beat the Chiefs Right all these things. Have you ever broke your hand? I broke my hand You know you what you bumped that arm that hand response. Yeah, I
And he's been playing with it when you put that glove on the second week Yeah, you've been playing with that would take the you know right there tells me Yeah, he's a tough guy and I'm glad to have him. You know if he was in the NBA he'd have taken the year off No, I agree man. I agree. Okay, so February 8th. Yeah, that's when you're doing the things for the vets All right, brother man AI happy new year to you guys go bills. We're gonna spank them big and paint
Maybe that's why I heard you tell Bob, like, hey man, I forgot to send Hutch's pics. Maybe that's why I'm behind. You guys like lose a week or something? No, you're behind because you don't know how to pick games. I'm trying to make up ground, man. Throw in the dice. Get a hotel for the week after the Super Bowl in Hawaii so you can celebrate the Super Bowl. I'll make some calls. I hear you, bro.
There you go. Who is it? Who is it? Super Bowls and New Orleans. Wow. Yeah. Who is it? They're gone. Here we go. I'm on the radio. Who do you think's calling me? Natch. My wife. Oh. Hey, where you at? I'm on the radio.
Hutch is passionate. Oh, yeah. He's ready to go. Hotel rooms in every potential city they could play in. Baltimore, KC, LA. Yeah. Aren't those the teams? Yeah. What about Detroit? Then NFC, that's the Super Bowl. Tampa? Yeah. He'd like that trip. Who is it?
Hey, it's Jake Swanson, Richard's buddy. I just met you yesterday. How you doing, buddy? I'm good. I'm good, man. I had a question for you guys. You know, I know the Sox have been making some moves and, you know, for me, the weakest part of the team is the bullpen right now. But I was wondering, you know, what more the Sox could do in the off season to look better going into spring training?
How about anything? Something different? What do you think, Woody? I think they need to get some more relievers. But I mean, they signed Chapman who is, what, 35, 36? Yeah, that could be the way. That's the price for over 12. Keep going. Yeah. What do you think, Woody? Well, Whitlock should come back and be in the bullpen. Yeah. So there's a seventh, eighth guy.
Uh, it wouldn't hurt to get one more known one. Don't give me one that, you know, we signed with Tommy John and he'll be back. He's played for a seven time. Yeah. Yeah. Rich Hill. Rich Hill. We could get him that. But you're right. They just need to tighten up the bullpen a little bit. They got a couple starters. I think we're ready to go.
There you go. Jake, what are we doing today? Am I taking you to Hanover? Uh, I think we're gonna meet you out. Okay, I can't wait. All right, you guys. Happy New Year. Jake stayed at my house last night. Just met him yesterday. All right, you listen to the buzzer coming down the home stretch. Let him go. Rock and roll. The old folks say that you got to entertain by 10.
If you're out on the date and you bring it on late, it's a sin. This is the Chira Highway. America? Nicely done, version. I took a bit, believe me, I dug down the...
What was the question you asked me? I had a question about pitching in the major leagues now. Like when I was pitching in before, when you got the Tommy John, you were basically done. Yeah. And now it's like everybody gets it.
So when you go out and get a picture, do you want a picture who's had it or just coming back recovering from it? I want, I want a picture who's had Tommy John surgery. And that's something how you talk like it. Who do you want? No, I would. Yeah. I would. Yeah. Everybody's, it's, listen, they just did a study on it. I thought I talked about it last week. Maybe I forget the page.
but it's all about velocity and force is what it is. And we always said these, you know, like the 97 to 105 pitches, the body can't withstand it. It just can't take that punishment anymore. And some people it takes a year
and maybe a half or a year and a quarter to get back to where they, it's like we let sail go too early. We let him go before he turned that corner and then the following year he was so young. You need to change the scenery. You know how that works. No, I get it. Would he have done it with Boston? Absolutely not. No, not with the team. He was with a great team.
Yeah, I mean, it's like that don't that don't take away from his strikes and striking people out and staying in seven. It's like a great quarterback being on a bad team. Right. So that's who sale was. So did you you must have watched that thing on the Red Sox on Netflix? What was that? I think I watched it on ESPN. Well, the Yankee thing like 86. It's when Rod when they
Took Roger Clemens out, I think, in 86 or something. He had 130 pitches going into the eight. He says, that's fine. Yeah. Well, everybody did. Right. Everybody did. I mean, look, we've done a no in Ryan's statistics. It's just, and he threw 95, didn't he? Right. But I guess what I'm saying is he was at 130.
But they weren't even thinking about Paul and him. The problem is like everybody's throwing harder. Everybody's working out. There's no time off. There's no off season for these guys. They don't stop throwing. Like there's no break. It's just that your body can't take it. It's crazy. But we both just admitted it. We'd rather have a guy with Tommy John than a guy who hasn't had it. Right. Because it's common. Yeah. And you know that.
I mean, it's the same thing as with this A.E.U. Every year. Every year they play the same sport. Yeah. Over and over and over and then the knees get it. Yeah, they play basketball, winter and then they play all summer. Yeah. Right, there's no break. That's why on the women's side, that's why there's so many ACLs. I mean, we've had doctors on talk about it.
Right. It's just like you need a break. That's why anybody in our era, nobody had anything. Right. Nothing. We played, everybody played two or three sports. Yeah. Listen, happy New Year to everybody across the world who listens to this show and beyond. Have a safe New Year's. If you need a driver, I'm available.
I'm flying out next day and I'm not gonna be feeling bad on that long flight. So if you need me, you know, you can find me. Thank you for listening 17 years in the books.
