Well, it only took Donald Trump just a few hours to pick his replacement for Matt Gaetz for Attorney General and its former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. I'm actually shocked that Pam Bondi wasn't picked the first time around. She's been angling and trying out for that job for the last 15 years since she accepted a $25,000 donation from Trump University and Trump to make an investigation against Trump University. Go away.
She's done everything for him as his, as his private counsel. And I'll cover it all right here as a person who practices in Florida and knows these waters pretty well. I'm Michael Popok. You're on the Midas Touch Network and legal AF. Let's explode and dissect Pam Bondi before she does the same thing to the United States and the rule of law. Pam Bondi grew up in Florida.
She ended up going to Stetson University, a local law school there, made her way up after being a prosecutor to the Attorney General's office, which she ran for and was elected and ended up being the pit bull in the mouthpiece for any Republican governor that happened to occupy the office in Tallahassee. She got very close to Donald Trump. In fact, she was planning, according to reporting, in joining a lawsuit
to shut down Trump University, one of those, one of those gimmicky bogus fly by night companies that Donald Trump slapped his name on and joined New York's Attorney General. But lo and behold, she ran into Donald Trump, asked for and received a $25,000 donation, and suddenly Florida dropped out of prosecuting or going after Trump University. How odd. I wonder if it was a coincidence.
Now, Trump University was eventually shut down by the then and now disgraced New York Attorney General, Eric Schneiderman, paying a $2 million fine and putting themselves out of business. But that's only the beginning of Pam Bondi's connectivity with Donald Trump. Right now, for instance, she works in two places. She works in Ballard Partners, a lobby group based in Washington, Florida, where she used to work with, wait for it, Susie Wiles, the incoming chief of staff.
Pam Bondi runs the corporate compliance group for them. Then she also works at a place called America First Policy Institute, where everybody on the roster is referred to as the honorable, even if they don't earn that, they didn't earn that title. But any event, guess who else is at America First Policy Institute? It's a phony sounding think tank organization that's sort of like we're all the shadow government for Donald Trump went. They went to the Heritage Foundation and they went to the America First Policy Institute founded by
Stephen Miller, who's an incoming special, special assistant to the president of a second time around.
If you look at the roster for America First Policy Institute, besides Pam Bayandi, who else do you see there? John Ratliff, who's the incoming CIA director? And Linda McMahon, who was the presidential transition chairman and is now the Commerce Secretary nominee. See, this is where they went to go hide as a parallel shadow government hoping Donald Trump would get back in. So again, I'm going to come back to the premise I started with. I'm surprised Pam Bondi didn't get this nomination the first time.
I have an explanation for it. I'm going to share with you in a minute. But it also is, I think it's a little bit of misogyny. Donald Trump didn't want any women in the top four cabinet positions. State, Attorney General, Treasury, and State, Attorney and Defense. Didn't want any. He passed on Joni Ernst, who's in the Senate, who's a lieutenant colonel in the military, to be defense. He passed on Pam Bondi the first time and the rest.
Now, Pam Bondi has been trying out as Donald Trump's lawyer for a long, long time. In fact, you may remember her from her leading the locker up chant. Nothing like having an attorney general that leads the locker up chant at the 2016 Republican National Convention. We have a clip. Of course we do. Let's play it. I love you. I love you.
November 8th is a day of reckoning for all those who have abused their power. It's the day when we, the people, will take back our government. From Washington bureaucrats play a doctor with our healthcare.
to a president who's been playing fast and loose with our constitutional rights and rushing roulette with our borders. November 8th is when America feels safe again. Because that's when America wins again.
Lock her up. I love that. That's just what I want in my person who's running the attorney general and the department of justice. I want him to leave the chant to lock somebody up. Uh, Pam Bondi also had no problem going on Fox and friends and Fox and news and whatever it is during the 2020 election and claim election fraud and that Donald Trump had one Pennsylvania. I mean, that was so ludicrous that even Pete Ducey on Fox and friends was like, do you have any evidence to support that? And she changed the subject and moved on as they all do. When Donald Trump got impeached, not once, but twice.
Just to remind everybody what just got elected president. Pam Bondi served as his lawyer for the first impeachment in which he got impeached. She's also represented him in represented him in other matters like the American First Policy Institute sent in a number of amicus curie briefs to support Donald Trump's position. Like whenever they needed a phony friend of the court brief to be written up
They went to the American First Policy Institute, whose legal department was headed by Pam Bondi, and that, and they sent in the brief, for instance, in Mar-a-Lago to judge Aileen Cannon, who, by the way, is probably thinking, what about me? What about me for Attorney General? Don't worry, there's still potentially a Supreme Court position. I actually thought it would be a fight between Bondi and Aileen Cannon, if there was ever opening on the United States Supreme Court, and there still may be.
The brief that was sent in by American first to Mar-a-Lago supported President Trump's then, sorry, ex-president, whatever, Trump's position, sorry, that the special counsel was illegitimately appointed and unconstitutionally funded.
And so there was an amicus brief that said exactly that signed by Pam Bondi. Wow, what a coincidence. Same thing to try to get the indictment dismissed under immunity grounds and other grounds in New York that led to the 34 felony count conviction against Donald Trump. There is a brief for Pam Bondi. How weird. How is it a weird coincidence? So she's got some other problems right now. For instance, when she was representing Donald Trump in the impeachment proceedings,
As a Ballard partner lobbyist, she was lobbying in the Arab world for Saudi Arabia and Qatar. And so Donald Trump had a wave of wand.
and give her special dispensation, right, to do both. So while she was representing Trump in the impeachment hearing, she was also representing Qatar and Saudi Arabia, both with strong links to 9-11 and what happened with the people who took control of the planes and crashed them into our towers, those cutters and Saudi Arabia.
This is a little bit of a step back here, right? So what's the takeaway? All right. I said earlier, I know how she got picked.
Matt Gaetz got picked because Boris Epstein, who's the inside consul yeri guy for Donald Trump that's been indicted in Arizona, was almost indicted in the DC election interference case, he made up his list. And on his list originally, Pam Bondi wasn't there, nine in the top two or three for that position. Alien cannon was, they floated that out there and got a lot of grief for it. Matt Gaetz wasn't there. Boris Epstein was on the plane with Donald Trump about a week ago and suddenly Matt Gaetz
is the nominee before they even land. Susie Wiles didn't know about that. In fact, she's been cleaning up the mess ever since.
So once that got struck, I think Susie Wiles went into action. I think Susie Wiles, who worked with Pam Bondi at Ballard Partners, and Donald Trump, who liked Pam Bondi, I mean, you know, kind of fits his type, if you know what I mean, when she's not appearing on Fox News, they didn't record, you know, trotted her out for the impeachment thing, trotted her out at all the conventions, has her stashed away at American First Policy think tank.
in all of that. And then right on cue, I think Susie Wiles was like, look, let me pick this next one. Because you've been sticking me with like Pete Hagg Seth, who's got a rape charge against him that he had a subtle and Matt Gates. Can you let me pick this one? This is my artist rendering of Susie Wiles imploring Donald Trump to let her not Boris Epstein pick somebody. And you know, he couldn't really say much. He's used her in a number of ways.
Uh, and, um, and so they pick Pam Bundy. Now she's going to get confirmed. I just want to manage expectations here. Yes. The people that are on the Democrats on the judiciary committee, like Cory Booker and Dick Durban and Blumenthal.
And Klobuchar, they're going to ask hard and searing questions about the $25,000 payoff that led to Florida dropping their suit against Trump University and other close relationships. But at the end, it's going to be just theater, performative art, and the she's going to get confirmed.
It's almost like he trotted Matt Gaetz out, and now everybody's relieved that it's not Matt Gaetz, so anybody who doesn't have a rape conviction is going to get this position. So she's going to get it, but I want you to understand who she is while we're doing this particular hot take.
what she going to do when she's in the office. She's going to be Donald Trump's mouthpiece. He's not going to have any he had problems with his earlier attorney generals. I assure you, he's not going to have problems with Pam Bundy. Her toe every when she gets up in the morning and brushes her teeth until she goes to bed or night and her head hits the pillow. All she's going to do is whatever Donald Trump wants her to do. And there's going to be a complete collapse. There's going to be no independence between the attorney general
and the, um, and the office of the presidency. You know how, uh, all the democratic, uh, presidents never meet with their attorney general for a meeting or a debriefing. Forget that or speak to them to keep their independence. Forget it. Uh, Pam Bondi, we're going to check that sign in sheet at the White House over time. She's going to be there at least once a week regularly for a meeting or a dinner or a lunch or a whatever with, with, um,
Trump. She is about what's going on and who she's investigating and who she's not investigating. And it's that's it. It's going to be wielded like a cudgel or a weapon by Donald Trump, even though he says the reason he picked her is because he wants to get out of the weaponization business. In fact, we've got his, we've got two social media posts that I do want to cover before we end the hot take. The first one is of course from Donald Trump. And the other one is from Remember Matt Gaetz?
God, it seemed like just yesterday he was nominated and quit in the third fastest on record of ever of any cabinet member. Here's what Donald Trump said about Pam Bond at three 30 this afternoon. I'm proud to announce former Attorney General of the great state of Florida, Pam Bondi, as our next Attorney General, Pam was a prosecutor for over 20 years, where she was very tough on violent criminals and made the streets safe for Florida families. Then as Florida's first female Attorney General, I think actually she's the only
female attorney general. She worked to stop trafficking of deadly drugs and fentanyl overdoses. We we saved many lives. Okay, for too long, the partisan department of justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans. Yeah, the ones that commit crimes. Not anymore. Pam will refocus the DOJ to its intended purpose of fighting crime and making America safe again. I've known Pam for many years.
ever since I bribed her with that 25,000. That was my editorial comment. She's smart and tough. It is an American first fighter who will do a terrific job as attorney general. Anybody believe this? Matt Gates is already heard from. She also found to be very interesting. Here's what Matt Gates has to say. Because we got a, you know, got a got to hear from Matt Gates too. At Pam Bondi is a stellar selection by President Trump for attorney general.
because I wasn't. Pam and I worked closely together when she was Florida's attorney general and I chaired criminal justice in the state house. That's interesting. I forgot he was in a state legislature before he became a congressman. She's a proven litigator, an inspiring leader and a champion for all at Matt Gates. Don't forget me people. I have another hot take that's up about what Matt Gates is going to do next. I'll tease it a little bit here. Senator Matt Gates.
There's an opening. There's going to be in Florida running for his old seat, Matt Gaetz being stashed away in the administration in a position that doesn't require Senate confirmation Matt Gaetz.
tune in to minus touch network and legal layoff and we will cover it all. But that's our story on Pam Bondi. Her number two is pretty capable. He's going to get confirmed to its Donald Trump's Lee criminal lawyer, Todd Blanche, who will really run the day to day. The way that usually the way that it works is the C. E. O. is the
is the attorney general and the COO, the chief operating officer who runs the day to day is the number two, the deputy attorney general. Like right now, it's Lisa Monaco who sort of runs the shop with Merrick Garland on top. And then the assistant to the deputy is Emil Beauvay, another criminal defense lawyer. And then the solicitor general nominee, John Sauer is another Donald Trump criminal defense lawyer. And the White House counselor, the White House secretary is another Donald Trump criminal defense lawyer. Are you catching on yet?
And Pam Bondi is another impeachment lawyer for Donald Trump. He just brings all his private lawyers and law firms into the White House and around the White House and the Department of Justice. What could go wrong?
Michael Popok, I'll figure it out at the intersection of law and politics and bring it to you next. And so my next report either here or on legal AF, the YouTube channel, do you see why we formed legal AF, the YouTube channel a few weeks before the election? It was almost like we had a sixth sense, but there was going to be a lot of action in the courts. And that intersection was going to be very, very busy over the next four years with Pam Bondi as attorney general.
I assure you, it's going to be the Department of Justice against Attorney Generals in blue states all around the country. So my next report on Michael Popok. In collaboration with the Midas Touch Network, we just launched the Legal AF YouTube channel. Help us build this pro-democracy channel where I'll be curating the top stories, the intersection of law and politics.
