TLDR: Podcast 'The Dean’s List' discusses parallel journeys of Susan B. Anthony and Donald Trump in facing trials, their commitment to core values inspiring society, and the impact of educational leaders like Ryan Walters.
In this episode of The Dean's List with host Dean Bowen, the discussion centers on the remarkable persistence of Susan B. Anthony and how her fight for justice resonates with contemporary challenges, specifically drawing parallels to Donald Trump’s ongoing struggles. As the podcast delves deeper, listeners are offered insights into the timeless value of sticking to one’s principles in the face of opposition.
Key Themes and Comparisons
Historical Context: Susan B. Anthony’s Fight
- Arrest for Voting: On November 18, 1872, Susan B. Anthony was arrested for casting a vote in the presidential election. This act reflected her unwavering commitment to women's suffrage.
- Judicial Injustice: Anthony termed her trial as the "greatest judicial outrage history has ever recorded," suggesting a deeply flawed judicial system that favored the status quo.
- Enduring Legacy: Despite the ridicule she faced, Anthony's efforts paved the way for women's voting rights, culminating in the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920, long after her death.
Modern Parallels with Donald Trump
- Consistency in Messaging: Trump's message remains unchanged from 2016 to the present day, highlighting principles that resonate with many, much like Anthony’s fight for justice.
- Change of Hearts: Key figures such as Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr. have gradually begun to align with Trump’s views, indicating a shift in public sentiment.
- Resilience Against Adverse Systems: Both Anthony and Trump demonstrate a strong will and resilience against established systems that oppose their messages.
The Importance of Persistence
Characteristics of Great Leaders
- Courage and Fortitude: The ability to persevere through criticism and obstacles is vital for leaders like Anthony and Trump.
- Stick-to-itiveness: Dean emphasizes the necessity of sticking to one’s beliefs, regardless of external pressures.
- Visionary Thinking: Great leaders can envision a future that others may dismiss, giving them the singular focus needed for success.
Ryan Walters and Educational Initiatives in Oklahoma
- Bold Educational Proposals: Ryan Walters, Oklahoma’s State Superintendent, is pushing for the inclusion of the Bible in school curricula, emphasizing its historical context in American education.
- Response to Opposition: Like Anthony, Walters is prepared to face opposition and legal challenges regarding this initiative, showcasing a commitment to traditional values in education.
- Historical and Cultural Context: Walters’ argument hinges on the belief that understanding the Bible is essential to comprehending American history, echoing the founding principles of the nation.
Cultural and Political Backlash
- Resistance from the Left: The episode discusses various legal and societal challenges faced by initiatives attempting to reintroduce religious texts in public schools, reflecting deeper ideological divides.
- The Role of Critics: Highlighting the resistance faced by both Anthony and Trump, it becomes evident that critics are often those who are not engaged in the struggle, as Roosevelt famously remarked about the "man in the arena."
- Misconceptions of Morality: Concerns are raised about how some perceive moral teachings, like the Ten Commandments, as oppressive, indicating a cultural shift away from traditional values.
Conclusion
Through the lens of history, The Dean's List reflects on the life of Susan B. Anthony and the relevance of her perseverance in today’s political landscape. Dean Bowen poignantly notes that the steadfastness in one’s message, the courage to face challenges, and the eventual rewards of persistence, are lessons that transcend time and continue to resonate in the fights of today’s leaders. The episode serves as both a reminder and a call to action for individuals to uphold core values in the face of adversity.
Was this summary helpful?
Good afternoon, America. Welcome to a very unique anniversary today. We're going to dive into it. This anniversary really parallels the path that Trump is on, the path he's taken. And I'm going to explain it to you. We're going to let it unfold today before our very eyes. This is just going to be one of those history classes. I love history class.
We're going to dive into some things happening in Oklahoma, some things happening in Louisiana, some classical education stuff. We've got a full, full slate over the weekend. However, Trump was at this, this fight. I'm sure you everybody saw it. He's there with Elon. He's there with our FK junior and he's there with Tulsi, the, the Avengers, the fab four, the just, the team is being assembled.
There was this this picture over the weekend. I saw an axe where you know, they're on the plane, you know, Trump and Elon and Don Jr. and RFK and they're all eating McDonald's and then there's the speaker kind of, you know, poking his head in the picture. I want to sit at the Google table and they're all enjoying McDonald's and I'm just looking at this picture and I'm looking at this amazing team that he's assembled.
this all-star team, really. And it's an all-star team of Democrats. You've got Tulsi and RFK, who both ran for president of the United States on the Democrat ticket. And then you've got Elon, who is a very wealthy, famous former Democrat. And my question is, Trump ran in 2016.
And Tulsi wasn't on board. You know, Tulsi was part of that primary on the Democrat side to run against him. Elon wasn't on board. RFK Jr. wasn't on board. 2020 Trump runs again. These guys aren't on board. 2024. There's still not on board, really. I mean, Elon is starting to
to open up his eyes are starting to be awake and he's starting to say things. But Tulsi and RFK Jr. aren't necessarily. Tulsi then begins to make some statements. She's put on the watch list. RFK finally is the last holdout. 2016 to 2024. My question to you is this. Nothing changed with Donald Trump.
Donald Trump's message was the same. It was consistent. What changed, however, were the hearts and minds of these other individuals, these other Democrats. So today is a very unique anniversary. And I want to parallel today's anniversary with this magical run that Trump is currently on, the anniversary today.
is the day 1872, November 18th. Anyone know it today? It is the day that Susan B. Anthony was arrested in Rochester, New York for trying to vote in the presidential election earlier that month.
1872. And how does that how does that play into what Trump was doing? All right, I'm at Britannica.com. I want to read to you just some highlights of Susan B. Anthony here at Britannica. Anthony subsequently settled her family near Rochester, New York. There she met many leading abolitionists, including Frederick Douglass.
And soon the temperance movement enlisted her sympathy after meeting Elizabeth Katie Stan. All right. So she's being introduced to this idea of suffrage. She sees what the abolitionists are supporting. And she starts drawing these parallels.
The rebuff of Anthony's attempt to speak at temperance meetings in Albany in 1852 prompted her to organize the Women's New York State Temperance Society, of which Stanton became president and pushed Susan B. Anthony farther in the direction of women's rights to advocacy. I just wanna make note of the year, 1852. 1852. Okay.
uh, 1868, Anthony became publisher and Elizabeth Katie Stanton editor of the revolution. Uh, the same year she represented the Working Women's Association of New York, which she'd recently organized. All right. So this is now 1868 and 1870.
Two years later, she relinquished her position at the Revolution and embarked on a series of lecture chores to pay off the paper's accumulated debts. As a test of the legality of the suffrage provision of the 14th Amendment, she cast a vote in the 1872 presidential election in Rochester, New York. And she was arrested today, November 18th. She was convicted
and find. But this note here, there's this subscript here in the Britannica, which is interesting. It says that the judge's directed verdict of guilty had been written before the trial even began. And Susan B. Anthony called the proceedings the greatest judicial outrage history has ever recorded. She refused to pay the fine, and the case was carried no further.
The parallels here between, number one, between the injustice system of what Susan B. Anthony went through and what Donald Trump has gone through is our first parallel. Our second parallel is the passage of time. Maybe we should have Kamala come on and explain to us the passage of time. I mean, she's so good at this, the passage of time.
From 1852 to 1872. I mean Kamala could very well described to us. That's 20 years What changed in that 20 years and then not much not a lot except that Susan B. Anthony was arrested for her for desire to push this idea of women's suffrage further and
By 1890, Anthony had largely outlived the abuse and sarcasm that had come to her early efforts. And she emerged as a national heroine. Almost 40 years has passed. Now, it's not taken Trump that long. I mean, he's still under assault now. We'll see what this thing looks like after four years. But 1890, Susan B. Anthony is this hero.
1900, at the age of 80, she retired from the presidency of the National American Women's Suffered Association, passing it on to her lieutenants, her main lieutenant, her principal lieutenant was Kerry Chapman Cat. She passed it on to Cat. Susan B. Anthony died six years later, 1906.
14 years after her death, the 19th Amendment has passed giving women the constitutional right to vote. But we have this interesting thing that's transferring over time and that people are warming up to this idea. They're warming up to the words of Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton and now Carrie Chapman-Cat.
I think you had to have three names back then if you were a woman of influence. But it takes time for people to come around. Trump's message has been consistent. It has stayed the same. It hasn't changed. But what has changed, the hearts of the people have changed. And in this case, the heart of the the avenging team being assembled,
Tulsi, R.F.K. Jr. in Elon, which by the way, that picture on the plane, somebody posted a close up of R.F.K. And I don't remember what the exact comment was, but the trepidation on R.F.K. space as he's about to eat a McDonald's Big Mac and drink a Coke, a sugar laden, sugar-filled Coke just. The look on his face is hilarious. I'm actually going to eat this. But Trump has brought these people into the camp.
He's brought them on board. And my point is this, that it takes some resiliency to do this. You have to be an individual of great, resilient temperament. You've got to have stick-tuitiveness. You've got to have this courage and this fortitude, this persistence to last, to work through all of the stuff that's being flung at you.
and to just brush it off, to shake it off and to be confident in the truth of your message. Susan B. Anthony was so confident in the truth of her message that she was like, yeah, 18 and we're going to vote. I don't care, it's 1872, we're going to vote. And when they arrest her in New York on November 18th,
She's like, yeah, go ahead, arrest me. But I want you to know these proceedings are the greatest judicial outrage history has ever recorded until now, until the judicial proceedings that Trump has undergone. Those now are the greatest judicial outrage that history has ever recorded. And there's probably going to be more.
Maybe there won't be if Matt Gaetz gets in. If Matt Gaetz is confirmed and he becomes our Attorney General, he will clean house. I promise you, he will clean house. We love Matt Gaetz around here. But even if he cleans house, maybe it'll stay clean for a generation. I mean, it's going to cycle back around because people forget.
They forget the message. They forget the work. But I implore you, those of us that are alive and well and kicking today, we must not forget. We have to remember. I think it's important that remember 2016. I think it's important that remember 2020, and here we are in 2024. Trump's message has stayed the same. It's been consistent, but others are now gravitating to it.
I think they're gravitating to it for two reasons. Number one, the merit of the message is true. And sometimes it takes us a minute for our eyes to open up to that kind of truth, but that the merits are accurate. The merits of the message are solid, they're foundational. And that's going to draw people. Number two, the reaction of the opposition has been so profoundly
outrageous that that's also going to draw people to the message, excuse me, and just simply the reaction, the reaction, the hatred, the vitriol from the Marxist on the left. Last week, we played some clips for you of teachers that were just in complete meltdown mode.
And it is just watching this reaction, this one teacher in California.
speaking to a class of Latino students, told them that the only reason their Latino men in their lives, their fathers, their uncles and their grandfathers voted for Trump is because they wanted to be white. That's it. Talk about a complete outrageous reaction that's going to drive Latinos to the Trump message even more.
And I know if me, if I'm a high school Latino individual and I'm sitting in that classroom and that person's going through that tirade, I'm going home and I'm telling my parents, I cannot wait to vote Republican. I can't wait because that's just me. This would push me into that camp. But Trump's message has strengthened merit on its own.
But then you've got the marks that's left. That's just completely helping him. Helping to just push him along, helping him to just kind of drive the mega-maha movement along. And that's what we're in the throes of right now. And I just think that the path that Susan B. Anthony took
mirrors a little bit, this path that Trump is on and how people begin to warm up to Susan B. Anthony. Her opposition began to see how resilient she was, and she's not going away. They began to pay attention to her message. And 14 years after her death, everything that she worked for, she didn't live to see it. But everything she worked for her entire adult life came to fruition in the form of the 19th Amendment.
What a legacy. And now here she is. She's got her own dollar. The Susan B. Anthony dollar. I've got a couple of them. I think they're pretty sweet. But this legacy that she engraved, that she etched, that she cemented, the only reason she was able to do it is because of her persistence. That's it. It's because of her courage, her fortitude, her stick tootiveness. It's because of these
these virtues that we speak about and teach about and work through so heavily in a classical Christian education. This is why we laid this foundation of virtue in the hearts and minds of our students because if you have this ability to persevere, you have the ability to stare greatness in the face. You do. And Trump is a living example of it. Susan B. Anthony was a living example of it.
And you can look around and you can see people that are walking among us today that are just completely persistent. They've got laser focus and they're not worried about who's talking about them, who's slinging mud at them, who's they're not worried about the critics that are not in the arena that Roosevelt spoke about because those people don't count.
The critics who are not in the arena do not count. It's the person that's in the arena, who has the persistence, who has the stick-tutiveness, who has the desire to see the goal through the end, who has the ability to see the vision, to see things that other people can't see. The leader that can see, that can take the landscape and picture the building that's on it. Picture the beautiful architecture that sits there, just picture the dream.
where others can't picture, others don't have that ability, that foresight to look into the future and see what's there. But rather they would be critical.
and they would talk about, oh, that's never gonna work. Why would that work? I saw something about Twitter the other day that when it first came out, this video clip of newscasters and they were talking about how ridiculous, who's gonna want to say whatever they're doing for the day in 140 characters or whatever it was. That's dumb. And now here we are, where X is truly the new media.
social media because of the trail that Elon has placed. And not even the guy, the what's his name, Jack, who owned it before, he was going to destroy it. He had free speech in the cross areas and was planning on destroying it. Elon comes along, saves free speech. I wouldn't say single-handedly, but he plays a big role in saving free speech. And social media now becomes the new media.
and America out loud is very much a part of that, very much a part of the new media. We are the media now. After watching what happened on election night, I don't know where you watched your coverage. I didn't watch my non-cable news and millions of people chose to ignore cable news and get their media coverage from some other outlet, some other independent journalist, some independent person or some independent network
that was giving us actual news. That's what we want. And it's just about somebody having the fortitude, the courage to see it through to the end. That was the road that Susan B. Anthony was on. It's also the road Trump is currently on. And those people that are coming along with him.
that are going to lead us. I truly believe into a golden age. I do. I believe it. I don't think it's just a statement. We have the before us, before our very eyes, we have the ability.
We have this potential. We have this opportunity to step into the Golden Age. And I don't know about you, but I'm here for it. I am absolutely here for it. All right. And that's what Trump's doing right now. But we're watching the success being achieved while he's alive. I'm happy about it. I'd rather him be here to witness it.

staying on message, having the fortitude and the resilience, the stick-tutiveness, the courage to just stay with your core values and not to be swayed. Okay, that's happening in Oklahoma. The state superintendent there, the superintendent for education, his name is Ryan Walters.
And this guy is an absolute talk about a firebrand. This dude's a powerhouse. He made a statement on Friday and he said that the state is making their move to purchase more than 500 Bibles for the AP government class. This is fantastic. They're moving forward to providing religious text in every state classroom. He said he was going to do this.
And it just made the Marxist head spin, just spin on an axis. I mean, the left is going nuts. They're just imploding over this. And on Friday, he said, yeah, no, we're buying 500 Bibles. And we're going to make them available in the AP government class.
His statement was this will provide critical, historical, cultural, and literary context for US students and put the state on a path toward improved academic excellence. He said, we are focused on ensuring we get Bibles available in every classroom and our state as quickly as we can. I will take every step possible to ensure Oklahoma students have the resources they need to fully understand American history
By acting now, Oklahoma is leading the country on a path toward greater focus on academic excellence, by providing critical, historical, cultural, and literary context for our students. We are not going to change our history. And the Bible is a major part of that. Boom. I mean, it doesn't. I don't think it gets any better than that. I mean, this man right here is on the front lines.
And he's going to take the arrows without a doubt. But he's a strong individual. And he has these core principles that are driving him. So last August 2023, Joshua and I were in DC for this. I don't know what you'd call it. I guess it was just a gathering of religious leaders.
And there was, we were being given this private tour of the Capitol and Statuary Hall and just, you know, different things. And Ryan Walters was a part of our group. And we went into the chamber and into the House and Senate.
And we just, we sat down in the chamber. I think this was the House of Representatives. We sat down in the chamber and we just, we sang a hymn. We prayed, we specifically prayed for Ryan and the work he's doing there in education in Oklahoma. We prayed that God would cover him and
give him the courage and the fortitude to continue walking this road. And he's got it, and he's going after it, and he's not messing around. So I'm looking at this article here, and it says, while announcing his Bible program,
Walter said that the Bible along with the US Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights are foundational documents in US history. So this was the deal over in Louisiana where
They passed this law in Louisiana that the Ten Commandments has to be posted in every classroom. And this judge came out and put a stay on it saying, yeah, you didn't say that the Constitution had to be in every classroom.
or that the declaration had to be in every classroom. You're saying that the Bible has to be in every classroom, and your statement is that the Bible, or I'm sorry, not the Bible, the Ten Commandments has everything to do with establishing our legal system, but that includes these other legal documents. So to me, it's overtly religious, and you put a stay on it. Well, here in Oklahoma, Walters is taking a broader approach
And he's saying, yes, the Bible is going to be in our AP government along with other foundational documents, the Constitution, the Declaration, the Bill of Rights. He said, our kids have to understand the role the Bible played in influencing American history. It's very clear that the radical left has driven the Bible out of the classroom, which leads to a lack of understanding of American history. And that's the truth.
The Bible plays an essential role in our history. And it has, since our founding, the Bible was the textbook. In classes and elementary classes, as students were learning to read phonetically, they did so by reading the Bible. That was the textbook. When they memorized the alphabet,
the letter A, B, C, D, they all included a mnemonic, which was about the Bible. A is for Adam. B is for whatever. It was all biblical stuff. A wasn't for Apple. A was for Adam. The Bible was foundational to our education. And the reason it was foundational to our education is because we were founded as a Christian nation, and they don't want to hear this.
This just drives them nuts because they're antithetical to Christianity. They despise Christianity. And the reason they despise Christianity, I mean, there's probably a lot of reasons. I'm not going to get into their reasons. The point is they do it. They're antithetical to the Bible. They're antithetical to Christianity. They're antithetical to the goodness it provides.
because they don't want pet goodness. They want total control. They want totalitarianism. Christianity is antithetical to totalitarianism. Well, there's a lot of tease in that statement. So the left is blowing up and there's a lawsuit. We knew there would be. There's probably more than one and it's the beauty of it. This is gonna make its way to this Supreme Court, the same in Louisiana. It's gonna make its way to the Supreme Court.
And the Supreme Court is going to make its decision. We believe here that it'll be a favorable decision because this court has already said that they are going to look at this kind of stuff historically. It has this stuff been allowed. What's now deemed unconstitutional? Has it been allowed over the centuries, over the decades? And if it has been,
then this court is going to take the stance that our founding fathers didn't deem it unconstitutional. The men who drafted the Constitution, they didn't deem the Bible in schools as unconstitutional. They didn't deem prayer in schools as unconstitutional. And the reason that they didn't, it's an important reason because the First Amendment where it says Congress should not establish a religion,
In their debates, that word religion is interchangeable with the word denomination. They were referring to a Christian denomination. The word religion back in that day was interchangeable with the word denomination. It wasn't religion as we think of it today, where you have Christianity, Judaism, Islam, you know, name the major religions throughout the world.
No, their use of the word religion referred to different denominations of Christianity. And as they were debating the First Amendment, the word religion where Congress shall not establish a religion was interchangeable with the word denomination. It could have said, it could have read, Congress will not establish a denomination. That's what they didn't want.
They didn't want one denomination of Christianity established over all the others because the states were kind of set up that way. The states had their own denominations, their own denominations of Christianity. Virginia was Anglican. Pennsylvania was Quaker. Massachusetts, I think, was congregational. I mean, they all had their own variety.
And they did not want want one variety to dominate the other varieties. And so they said, Congress shall not establish a religion, meaning a particular denomination of Christianity. But the Bible was foundational in their education. Religion was foundational in their education. The Northwest Ordinance describes it. And it says, religion, morality and knowledge shall forever be encouraged.
in education. The Northwest Ordinance is one of our founding documents. It established the type of government that the Founding Fathers wanted in the Northwest territory and that territory that would become Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin. And that was to be the government there. This is a foundational piece of history, which the Bible is a part of. It's included.
And when Ryan Walters says 500 Bibles are on their way to Oklahoma to provide text for AP government class, he's got historical context and historical authority in which to do it. And he's got a Supreme Court here that will support that historical context and that historical authority that my friends is huge.
And so we say, yeah, bring on the lawsuits. Bring them on. So the lawsuit filed by the civil rights organizations, including the ACLU of Oklahoma, the Freedom from Religion Foundation, which advocates for atheists, agnostics. This is this group seeking to block the mandate.
The plaintiffs also allege that Walters and the State Board of Education lack authority to enforce such a requirement. They don't lack the authority belongs to them. Absolutely. There's another announcement that Walters made November 12th. Let me read this.
Walters said for decades, our nation's public schools have tragically been ground zero for the erosion of religious liberty across the country. The radical left never misses a chance to co-opt the teacher unions and their minions to indoctrinate our children against traditional values of faith and family seeking to attack any display of faith or religion or patriotism.
It's no coincidence that the dismantling of faith and family values in public schools directly correlates with declining academic outcomes in our public schools.
In Oklahoma, we are reversing this negative trend. Now, listen, we have documented this in the past where he makes the statement where he says it's no coincidence that the dismantling of faith and family values in public schools directly correlates with declining academic outcomes in our public schools on my Instagram page, which I don't talk about a lot. I think I need to revisit Instagram on that Instagram page.
I think it's the Dean's list 33. I think I don't even know I haven't I haven't been on Instagram forever I need I need to go there on that page. We've got the receipts. We showed the graphs We show the not only the decline in academics From 62 63 when prayer and the Bible was kicked out of public school. We showed the decline and
But additionally, we show the increase in violence and a lack of morality, teenage pregnancy. I don't remember all the things. I mean, they're there. The graphs were all there on the Instagram page. So Walters is absolutely nailing it when he says, there's no coincidence that dismantling faith and family and public schools, getting rid of morality, kicking the Bible and kicking prayer out of public schools,
shows a direct correlation with declining academic outcomes and an increase in the things we don't want, such as student violence, teenage pregnancies, immorality just exploding because you kicked morality out of the building. And so there's a void there and something's going to take its place.
He says in Oklahoma, we are reversing this negative trend and working with the incoming Trump administration. We're going to aggressively pursue education policies that will improve academic outcomes and give our children a better future. All right, and normally I tell you that the public school building is on fire and you should get your child out. You have hope in Oklahoma. There is a man here in charge.
by the name of Ryan Walters that is doing everything he can to put the fire out. He's doing everything he can to save the building. Those of you that live in Oklahoma, you have hope.
And then let's, let's see if Oklahoma can, can blaze the trail for the rest of us. All right. Uh, let's go to Louisiana. We'll pick up Louisiana, but I see them. I'm up against the clock. I want to talk about this 10 commandment situation there. We'll pick that up on the other side. You, my friends are listening to the Dean's List on America Out Loud Talk Radio. And it's a fantastic deal. All right, so this situation in Oklahoma is a good thing because it's making its way to a Supreme Court, which we believe is favorable to looking at religion in the context of history. And we think that that's important.
that the Bible plays a very legitimate historical role in the foundation of this country and in the education of this country. And this is the push here in Oklahoma. It's also the belief in the push in Louisiana. So we talked about this last week, this Louisiana law, which I want to revisit the law here.
Let me see. Where's the language? Because this is so good. The law enacted by Louisiana's legislature signed by Governor Landry. Okay, here it is. Requires a specific version of the 10 commandments to be displayed in all K-12 public classrooms and at public universities. By January 1st, 2025. It mandates that the 10 commandments be displayed on an 11 by 14 inch poster.
or framed document in a large readable font. It also requires a 200 word context statement highlighting the historical role in American public education that the Ten Commandments have played. I mean, that's a big deal because now it's not overtly religious as this judge has claimed. The judge is a U.S. District Judge John D. Grovels.
I don't know how to pronounce his last name. But we're just going to call him Grovels. And he said, no, he said this is overtly religious, struck it down and striking it down. He said that every single school district in the state, all 72,
that state education officials had to inform all 72 school districts that the law was invalidated. Meaning that the legal requirement to post the 10 commandments in classrooms is now blocked and, you know, and they shouldn't do it because the law by, according to this US district judge,
the laws invalidated. It's overtly religious. Not going to have it. I don't care if there's a 200 word contextual statement explaining the historical role that the Ten Commandments have played in American public public education. I told the religious. What kind of happened? Again, we're going to celebrate another victory because the Fifth US Circuit
Circuit Court of Appeals issued an administrative stay on this U.S. District Judge's ruling. And so the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has temporarily halted his provision, requiring that all 72 school districts be informed that the law is invalidated.
meaning now that this U.S. District Judge's decision only applies to the five school districts that are named in the lawsuit.
I guess the plaintiffs here made an error. They should have listed every single school district as a defendant in the lawsuit, but they only listed five. And so the judge can only rule that the law is invalid, I guess, in these five districts. He does not have the authority.
to require state education officials to inform all 72 school districts that the law is invalidated. And therefore, they do not have to proceed on January 1st with hanging the 10 commandments up. It's overly religious. How dare they do that?
Attorney General Liz Merrell here was her post on X. She said the Fifth Circuit grants our motion to block the district court's attempt to enjoin the Ten Commandments Law statewide. I look forward to immediately working with all of our school boards who are not involved in this lawsuit to implement the law soon.
So we're looking at 68, 68 school districts out of the 72, 68 will be required to post this version of the 10, I don't know what version it is. I don't know if it's a particular, maybe King James, maybe a particular translation. I'm not sure what the details to that are. But come January 1st, 68 of the 72, they have to post the 10 commandments.
And I just, I don't know, I think it's fantastic. The law, of course, is challenging chord, plaintiffs alleging their complaint. This is what I learned to get to. The complaint of plaintiffs is that the law violates their rights under the Establishment Clause, Re-Exercise Clause of the First Amendment. Okay, we knew that was coming.
I don't know just because the Ten Commandments are being posted. I don't know how that infringes upon the free exercise of anybody else to freely practice their religion. Just because the Ten Commandments are posted. Does that mean if you're a Buddhist, you can't be a Buddhist? Or if you're a Christian, you can't be a Christian because the Ten Commandments are not Christian.
They're Jewish. So it flies in the face of that, but here is the statement by Darcy Roke. Darcy Roke is a minister in the liberal religious movement, Unitarian Universalism, and is a plaintiff in the case. So Darcy says this, Minister Roke,
Ten Commandments, displays required under state law, will create an unwelcoming and oppressive school environment for children, like ours, who don't believe in the state's official version of Scripture. You don't believe in the Ten Commandments? You don't believe in thou shalt not kill? But how do you not believe in that? I don't care what religion you are.
How do you not believe in thou shalt not kill? You don't believe in thou shalt not lie. You don't believe that willingly, not telling the truth destroys relationships. It destroys and erodes trust, which is foundational for relationships to exist. You don't believe in that. You don't believe in thou shalt not steal.
which destroys communities because you don't have faith in your fellow man and your fellow neighbor to not come over into your garage and take what doesn't belong to him, to take your ladder, to take your rake, to take your lawn mower. You don't believe in that? You don't believe that these 10 commandments can go a long way in establishing a foundational society
that is built upon morality? What is there not for you to believe in that? I guess, according to Darcy Roke, it creates an unwelcoming and oppressive school environment. I don't know what's unwelcoming and what's oppressive about teaching the kids that they shouldn't steal from each other. All right, so at Waterbrook, I tell the kids, you don't need a lock on your locker.
Nobody's going to steal anything from your locker. You leave it open. I think in our 18 years, we had one incident where somebody's Pokemon cards came up missing. And they were taken out of someone's locker. And I went to the students and I said, hey, we don't keep locks on our lockers. And we do it. And we don't keep locks on our lockers because we trust each other.
because we live in a community here. This is a society. It's a little miniature society. It's a microcosm of reality here in America. And if we can't trust one another, then there is no safety. Safety is out the window. We have to be able to trust each other. We have to know that we can bring stuff and leave it on our locker and know that it is safe in our locker. And by the end of the day,
a student came to me and said, Mr. Boana, I took the Pokemon cards. And I said, all right, thank you. You need to return the Pokemon cards. And you need to make it right. You need to make it right with that student, who you took the Pokemon cards from. And he did, he made it right. And we got the parents involved and it was made right and people were made whole.
But we didn't to start implement. I mean, look if students want to bring lockers want to bring locks on their lockers. They're more than welcome to But they don't feel this overarching need And be it's because we we laid this foundation of morality We lay foundations of virtue justice is one of the seven virtues. It's a cardinal virtue Everything hinges that the word cardinal is Latin. It doesn't mean bird. It means hinge
everything hinges on these cardinal virtues. And they are prudence, temperance, justice and fortitude, justice being one of the virtues that society hinges on. And it's not justice in the sense that I demand justice for myself. No, it's another word for truth.
And it's what we demand from ourselves to provide to others. We have to be truthful with others. We have to be honest with others. And that means not lying to them. That means not stealing from them, not taking from them. What doesn't belong to us? I mean, that's part of the foundation here.
And sir, if that's unwelcoming, or maybe Darcy's a woman, I don't know, if that's unwelcoming and oppressive to you, then I don't know, I suggest that you need to sit down and rethink what kind of society you want to live in. What kind of society do you want your kids to grow up in? Because apparently you don't want them to grow up in a society that is built on untrust in truth.
This quote from Darcy continues, we believe that no child should feel excluded in public school because of their family's faith tradition. And we are optimistic that the court will grant our motion for a preliminary injunction. I'm Christian. I'm not Jewish. And I can go to a school and I can see the 10 commandments on the wall and I cannot feel excluded.
Matter of fact, I will feel safer because that school is providing a foundation of morality for my fellow classmates. So I don't know, Darcy, what you got going on over there, but it strikes me as being very unhealthy, being very unhealthy.
And it's important for the leaders in Oklahoma and Louisiana to stay the course. Stay the course the way Susan B. Anthony stayed the course. Stay the course the way Trump has stayed the course since 2016 and even before 2015. The day he came down the escalator, he has stayed the course for almost a decade. And it's important that we stay the course. We stay true to our values. We stay true to what drives us.
this core, these core values and virtues, we have to stay true to them. And we have to keep speaking them. We have to keep delivering them verbally with our actions. And otherwise, stay the course, my friends. Today is the anniversary of Susan B. Anthony being arrested. And she's like, fine, arrest me. I don't care. I do not care. In a few years, this is going to be a constitutional amendment. Women are going to be voting.
I don't know if she said that. I don't know if she saw into the future to that detail. But by golly, she should have. Absolutely. All right. Listen, share this show. Share the good news. Get it out there. I don't care. Whatever social media you're on, post it, share it. Let's get it going. People need to hear this. They need to understand the importance of staying true to who we are.
