The arrogance of elitism

November 24, 2024
TLDR: In Pennsylvania, officials ignore court rulings to count illegal ballots, and schools impose hyper-sexualized curricula while silencing parents' voices. Host Paul Engel discusses resistance to this control and reclaiming personal liberty.
In the recent episode of The Constitution Study hosted by Paul Engel, the discussion was centered on the problematic nature of elitism in today’s society. The podcast explored the fundamental question: Who knows best? Throughout history, societies have struggled with who holds the decision-making power – the elite or the masses. Engel argues that elitism undermines individual liberty by positing that a few individuals possess the moral authority to dictate how others should live.
Key Topics Discussed
1. Elitism in Governance
Engel highlights alarming cases of election law being disregarded in Pennsylvania. County officials announced they would count ballots that were illegal due to improper dating, directly defying rulings by the state Supreme Court. This reflects an elitist attitude where officials believe their interpretation of the law supersedes existing regulations.
Key Points:
- Disregard for the Law: Election officials ignoring laws – a blatant example of elitism at work.
- Claiming Authority: Officials rationalize their actions with claims of knowing what’s best for the people.
2. The Education System as a Tool of Control
Engel discusses how public schools impose controversial curriculums, such as teaching about gender identity, without allowing parental consent. This exemplifies elitism in the education system where school authorities believe they know better than parents regarding their children's education.
Key Points:
- Parental Rights Ignored: Schools overriding parents’ rights to control their children's learning environment.
- Moral Direction: The school’s choice to dictate values reflects a growing trend of authority figures determining societal norms.
3. Electoral Integrity and Controversy
The episode also touches on claims of widespread voter disenfranchisement and election fraud in Pennsylvania. Engel points out that the accusations revolve around the legitimacy of ballots and the role of political parties in influencing election outcomes. He expresses concern about how far parties are willing to go to alter electoral results favorable to their agenda.
Key Points:
- Voter Registration Issues: Dismissals of provisional ballots have been framed as attempts to silence voters.
- Political Exploitation: Discussions of manipulating the electoral process reflect deeper elitist tendencies in political systems.
Expert Opinions and Public Sentiment
Engel does not shy away from revealing the polarization within society regarding political identities. The discussion about reactions to political figures like former President Trump illustrates how deeply divided opinions can lead to a pathological rejection of the opposing side. Engel emphasizes that this mindset results in actions driven by ideological zeal rather than balanced judgments.
4. Double Standards and Political Hypocrisy
The podcast criticizes the selective outrage and responses among political elites. By citing instances of FEMA allegedly denying aid to Trump supporters, Engel illustrates how ingrained elitism can manifest through bureaucratic channels.
Key Points:
- Bureaucratic Discrimination: Accusations against FEMA for prioritizing aid based on political affiliation.
- Hypocrisy Across the Spectrum: Both major political parties exhibit elitist behavior that impacts citizens' lives.
Resistance and Reclaiming Liberty
Engel calls for a collective effort to resist the encroachment of elitism in governance and to reclaim personal liberties. He emphasizes the necessity for individuals to be active participants in their governance and education systems. By learning about their rights and engaging with the democratic process, citizens can reclaim the authority that elitists attempt to overshadow.
Takeaways:
- Empowerment through Knowledge: Understanding the Constitution and civic rights is crucial to combatting elitist control.
- Active Participation: Engel urges listeners to engage in discussions and decisions that affect their lives and communities.
Conclusion
In this episode of The Constitution Study, Paul Engel unravels various dimensions of elitism that threaten democratic principles and personal liberties. Through legal cases, education policies, and the political landscape, the podcast sheds light on how the arrogance of believing one knows better can lead to significant societal implications. Engel's call to action emphasizes the need for vigilance and informed participation in addressing these challenges, echoing a timeless pursuit of liberty and justice for all.

helping to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. This is the Constitution Study on the America Out Loud Network. With your host, Paul Engel. Who Knows Best? Since the beginning of society, the question of who Knows Best has been debated in one form or another.
What should the strongest rule? Is there a divine right to control others? Or do the people rule themselves? The disagreements over who gets to decide have been dealt with in many ways as well. Most common has been through war and violence.
over the last couple of centuries, efforts have been made to decide via elections. And still today, there are those who disagree with the decisions of others, take on the mantle of elitist, and claim the power to tell others how to live their lives.
Hello there, Everyday Americans. Paul Engel here with the Constitution Study where we read and study the Constitution, teach the rise in generation, be free. I'm glad you could join me today because I've got a handful of stories that I think revolve around the common theme of elitism and the arrogance of claiming to know what is best for everybody else. Now, sometimes it takes the form of, you know, do anything to win.
Sometimes it takes the form of well, you know, we've got to do this to protect others and we know better than everybody else Sometimes it turns into simple, you know, I don't know petty Retribution But regardless of the scenario Understanding though that the if we understand the bottom line question is who decides what is best? That's the difference between liberty and servitude
with liberty, in general, the people decide what is best, and servitude, someone else decides what is best, and is enforced usually by laws, punishment, and sometimes even the muzzle of a gun, or in some cases, maybe just the arrogance of lawlessness. I talked before about what's been going on in Pennsylvania, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
where the, the county election board simply voted to ignore the law, ignore the decision of the state Supreme court or the Commonwealth Supreme court and simply make it up as they go along. See, they're taking by, by, by Pennsylvania law.
if a mail-in vote, an absentee vote comes in without a date or if it is misdated by law, it cannot be counted. I've searched it for that's the law in Pennsylvania. Now, of course, this became a question that went to the Commonwealth Supreme Court. And the Commonwealth Supreme Court said, yeah, you know what?
Yeah, the law says it's got to have a valid date. If it is undated or misdated, it cannot be counted. But, uh, books, county commissioners said, uh, you know what, we're going to count them anyway. We're going to ignore the law. We're going to ignore the decision of a court. We know better than everyone else.
And in fact, one of the commissioners, Ellis Marsgelia said that precedent by a court doesn't matter anymore in this country because people violate laws anytime they want. Yeah, people violate laws anytime. They can violate the laws. The question is those laws are those violations punished.
But she's not, I don't think she's going to be punished, but even if she goes, for me, if I violate this law, it's because I want a court to pay attention to it. Now, to me, this says so much, the arrogance of elitism. I'm above the law. I don't, if I think the law is wrong, I don't have to change it. I just have to ignore it.
and maybe get a court to tell to say, we need to change the law or it's okay to ignore the law. And if the court doesn't tell us it's okay, we're going to do it anyway. Now, as I said, I talked about this recently. Here's the disturbing point. This disease is spreading.
Centric County, Philadelphia County, Montgomery County, all of which have moved to a loud illegal ballots to be counted. Use whatever they're, you know, they're, they're, they're undated. They're incorrectly. These are illegal ballots being counted, which means
that there is election fraud in those states being perpetrated by, I'm sorry, in those counties, being perpetrated by county election officials.
Now, what differs from last time, she the last time we talked about this, we were dealing with a presidential election. This has to do with the state, uh, senator, one of the senators was up for reelection. And, um, well, let's just say he lost, but we now have at least three counties that we're going to keep counting. We're going to keep going even though.
our candidate lost because by the way, I believe everybody I've heard commenting on this or stating they were going to count illegal ballots happens to be a Democrat. And it's a Republican that won the senatorial race. So the next time someone tells me that there's no such thing as election fraud or it isn't enough to impact a race, we have one working very diligently to impact a race for US Senator.
Rather important race I would think because remember the president actually has very little power to work on his own that constitutionally Most of what he has to do, you know, he can't appoint people without the advising incentive Senate. There's a lot of talk about president Trump's nominations and That's great, but they don't go anywhere without the advising incentive the Senate
And now we have people in these counties trying to impact the Senate because they didn't like the outcome. I don't know about you, but that's where we are above the law. Our ends justify our means.
but it's not just those county officials. The Senate, the, the, the democratic nominee for Senate, um, Mr. Casey is running around the state claiming, oh, they're, they're trying to disenfranchise people. They're the Republicans. They want to disenfranchise voters and, and they want to silence Pennsylvanians by not counting illegal ballots.
or the other, there's some other questions. So you've got these illegally cast ballots. Now listen, if you don't cast a ballot properly, it's not the state's fault. It's your fault. Right? They're instructions. You're supposed to put a date. If you couldn't be bothered, that's your fault. If you got the date wrong for whatever reason, that's your fault. If you really cared about your vote, you'd put the right date on it.
But you see now after, see before the, well, let me get to that in a second. There's another problem coming in. See the Casey campaign has challenged the dismissal of many provisional and mail-in ballots because the voters were not on the voter registration list.
So they've got provisional ballots. I guess if you show up to vote and there's a question about whether or not you registered to vote, you cast a ballot, but it's provisional. It's held aside until the question of legal status and registration can be resolved.
Same with mail-in ballots, right? The mail-in ballot comes in. Wait a second. That name does not appear on the voter registration list. Means they're not registered to vote. It means, I believe, by Pennsylvania law, they legally are not allowed to vote. But the Casey campaign is complaining that dismissing those ballots of people, just because their names weren't listed on the registration rolls, is somehow
disenfranchising voters? To understand, the Casey campaign is challenging rejecting votes by people who are not on the poll list on Election Day and were subsequently determined by the Board of Elections not to be registered. Instead, they're asking the Board to take several additional steps to confirm a voter's eligibility.
sounds to me like the ends justify me. We don't care. We're pushing to make sure to get people's votes counted even if it's already been a due kit that they were never registered to vote in the first place.
Now, is it possible that discovery was incorrect? Yes, it is. Okay, yes, it is. But does that mean that people are actively trying to, that was this a clerical error? Was this some other mistake or was there something else going on?
And of course, not to be outdone, right? The Republicans are claiming that the Democrats simply want to count illegal votes. There's a lot of finger pointing and, and Shannon is going on. I find what I find interesting is before the election,
We're all starting up. We're doing everything we can to make sure that the election is free and fair, safe and secure. The governor, Governor Shapiro said, I think everybody needs to take a deep breath and understand that it is our fellow Pennsylvanians who are running these elections. And we will again have a free and fair, safe and secure election. And that's what's happening.
Because now after the election, the Casey campaign is accusing components of large scale voter disenfranchisement. Of course, the Republicans are claiming that no, what you're talking about, an attempt at a large scale attempt to count illegal votes.
So it reminds him, but again, I don't live in Pennsylvania. This has a minimal impact on my life, right? It's really a question of, I think do the Republicans have a 53 or 54 vote majority in the Senate? So it's not, but I look at this and say, this is the second.
quadrennial election in a row where there have been serious questions about how Pennsylvania handled their elections. I don't care that the governor said this will be a free and fair election. How can we trust that when no sooner do the polls close than we have allegations of voter, if not voter fraud, disenfranchisement. And really,
if when you have county officials saying, we are going to ignore the law. We are going to break the law and count these ballots. How can you trust that it's a free and fair election when you have county officials saying, we are going to count illegal votes because we say so. Because we want a court to look at this. And in three separate counties, not small counties either,
But part of me wonders, is this obsessive need to win? Is it merely another form of religious belief that I believe in my party so much that anything I do is justified in order for my candidate to win the opposing candidate to lose? I mean, yes, America's become extremely polarized. That's nothing new.
And I've got some more examples I want to talk about later in the program. But I'm looking at this saying, have we turned these elections away from finding out the will of the people?
Because what's an electric? We are a republic, which means the people hire representatives through elections. This is exactly what's happening. They're hiring a representative for the state. That's what a US senator is. They're there to represent the state in the Senate. They are hiring them by a vote. In other words, we're trying to determine the will of the people.
And that will is to be expressed in certain ways legally, right? Like you have to be a citizen and there are certain legal requirements in order to vote. And literally what we're saying is we don't like the decision that the people have made. Can we find a way to change it? Does it include counting illegal votes or does it include questioning when those votes are not counted?
And again, the question was brought, well, what if these people who, these provisional ballots, these mail-in ballots, where their names weren't on the registration list, what if that was a mistake?
Find. Find if it was a mistake. It's still a provisional ballot. Find if it was a mistake. There's a law that gives you time to figure that out. And if you can't do it within the timeframe necessary, the law created by the representatives of the people of the Commonwealth have said, this is how it's to be done. You don't have the right to change it just because you don't like the outcome. The ends do not justify the means.
And it's this whole idea of I can justify anything to get the ends I want is part of the reason we've become not only so polarized, but so vindictive and antagonistic towards each other. At least that's my opinion. Now I have to take a break before I go though. You know, I thank God I generally sleep pretty well, although my wife not so much.
Now, we've tried lots of different things over the years. And again, sometimes I have a hard time shutting my mind down and falling asleep. And that's when I reach for restful sleep. See, it doesn't use hormones or drugs. It's naturally ingredients. It's things like passion, flour, chamomile, valerian root. It's all natural. It's manufactured here in the United States. Welcome back, everyday Americans. You've re joined the constitution study and today we're talking about the arrogance of elitism. And to me, elitism is any scenario, any position where someone believes they know better than everybody else. That as an I have an elite position, I've got a degree. I studied here. And because of that, I have the moral, if not legal authority, to tell other people what to do.
We haven't, we're not supposed to have it a quote unquote elite class, but in many ways we do. We've allowed it to happen. Now, before going to break, we were talking about what's going on in Pennsylvania and the, uh, the fear.
of a Republican winning a Senate seat and the willingness to break the law, apparently, apparently, in an effort to make sure that a person's own party champion for that office is the one that wins. And I think a lot of this comes from this hatred just doesn't seem to be severe enough for work. This rabid
um, um, hate this, this rabid disgust, this rabid fear of a political opposition. In fact, it's gotten so bad in the, in the realm of Donald Trump has to be given a name Trump derangement syndrome.
And while not a clinical diagnosis, it sure does seem to describe, and we'll just say some people we've seen in their reaction to Donald Trump's recent victory in the 2024 election. They've become deranged. And by the way, it's not just Democrats, but we'll get to that.
There's a special education teacher in Connecticut who recorded a TikTok video that apparently went absolutely viral. I don't do TikTok. I don't have TikTok. I'm not a fan of TikTok. But she went on a rant.
I do not have a recording of it besides I would probably have to bleep large sections of it because of the language that she used. But she is quoted as saying people of color and poor people and gay people and all the people that I care about aren't going to be safe in America. Based on what? This reminded me of a conversation I had a couple weeks ago
about from another person, a person who, by the way, describes herself as a conservative and say, well, we know how Trump is going to govern. How? Because in the context, it wasn't based on his previous administration. I don't even think he's governed in the way his previous administration did because I think he's learned stuff since then.
I don't think he was well prepared. I don't think he had a good staff. I think he's going to do a different job this time around. And I think his nomination picks so far kind of show that to be true, but at the heart of it, what are you expecting from someone that you do not know? See, this is the arrogant elitism of I know somebody because of the caricature that they place in public.
This idea, don't forget we have an idea that there's one face we show to the public and there's another face that's our real life and very often they're not the same thing. Add to that the caricature of media for a public official and we have no clue who most of these people are.
Most of us, we don't know Donald Trump. We don't know Kamala Harris. And maybe we hear some reports from people who do know them, but we don't really know. But based on this, this idea that simply because Donald Trump won election, that now people aren't going to be safe. And during this tirade, which I can only
describe as an unhinged diatribe. There are, I want to say, inferences of potential violence against Trump supporters.
Now, the school superintendent said, it is immediately clear that it will be impossible to conduct business as usual for our students and staff without temporarily removing the teacher from the building. So we have done so until the outcome of the investigation. Subsequently, this teacher has resigned.
Now, the reason this comes to mind is not because you've got a deranged teacher who just believes that, again, believes the rhetoric that Trump is Hitler, that there's going to be a war on women's rights that, you know, whatever nonsense has been spouted.
Which, by the way, as a slight sidebar, I find very interesting that Joe Biden, who has spent a fair amount of time describing Mr. Trump as Hitler, Nazi threat to the existential threat to democracy, invited him to the White House, shook his hand, sat down, said, yeah, we're going to work fine on the transition. Kind of shows that most of that rhetoric was just that. It was propaganda. But that's kind of a sidebar.
I bring this up because this was a teacher. Now, again, I'm glad she's not teaching at the moment because at this point, this person has become so deranged over the present.
And let's face it, if you actually follow the Constitution, you'd almost never have to deal with the President. You'd never have to deal with him unless you're in the military. You really wouldn't have anything to do with him. In fact, you'd have very little to do with the federal government period. But we've turned the President into a king and now that position has become so important that the belief that the President can tell you how to live your life
Now, I'm not saying the president doesn't have a huge impact. We've seen the impact of presidents. We've seen presidential administrations that tried to censor information. What was it? The disinformation board that working with social media to censor politically incorrect points of view.
the attempt to silence factual information that was inconvenient. Yeah, that's nothing. That's nothing. No, I'm not saying a president has no impact. But this, this, this reaction just seems to be a, you know, my God, how could people be dumb enough to elect President Trump? And I think that's really what I see in so much of not just this, this individuals.
but so much of the response is, how could people be dumb enough to elect this person? Not, could it possibly be that I don't have all the information? Could it possibly be that I don't understand why these, maybe they know something I don't, maybe they're seeing something? No, it's the, they're garbage people as Biden was referred to, or they're deplorables.
in flyover country, clinging to their gods and guns. It's this idea of you aren't smart enough to be in charge. We, the elites, the special people, the ones that went to the right colleges and universities, we have to be the ones that tell you how to live your life. And if you're too stupid to recognize that, well, then we have to do something to win anyway.
And we certainly saw that through Trump's first administration where large parts of the bureaucracy worked against his policy, refused to implement his policies. We had a, you had a general believes in the joint chiefs of staff that contacted, if not an immediate enemy, certainly not an ally of the United States and communist China and said they would warn them if he thought Donald Trump was going to do something stupid.
That's about as close to treason as I've actually heard through this country in many a year saying I'm going to inform a foreign power on the actions of my commander in chief and to do it as part of the military. How that person was not court marshaled and given a dishonorable discharge shows the politics that were involved.
But there's another much more pervasive level of leadism that has impacted, I believe all of us. If not impacting us, it's impacted us in the past. And that is the public school system. This came to light to me or this, I should say this, this came to the fore in a recent article, this one came out of the daily signal about a Massachusetts school district.
that will be observing transgender awareness week and refuses to allow the parents to opt their children out of lessons regarding gender identity and sexuality. Now, I want you to have a think about this for a minute. This is a school district that says, we know better. We know that with teaching about transgender, about gender identity, we know better than the parents parents. You're not even the idea that the parents
should opt out. I've told the story before, but for those of you who haven't heard it many, many years, but I've got to be about 20 plus so long years ago. I was talking to a mother, you know, not relatively yet a child that was still in public school. And she was upset. And I was talking to her. And what I found out was her daughter, who was fairly young at the time,
had been introduced to sexually explicit material in the classroom. And if that wasn't bad enough, when she went to the principal to find out why she'd not been allowed to opt out, the principal told her, well, we find if we allow parents to opt out, they tend to do it.
Now, if first of all, my daughter would never be in that situation because we never centered a public school. We were refused. If I had been in that situation where another person arrogantly thought they had the right to determine my child's upbringing, there would have been issues. But this is the fundamental change. See, again, I remember when I was a kid,
For the most part, parents directed education. It was starting to change as I went through the upper grades. But the idea was the parents, you know, they were in control of the education and the teachers were there to teach. And you had, you know, parent teacher conferences, you had PTAs, you have parents engaged in school boards to, you know, the parents kind of set the tone and the school implemented it.
And as the years went on, it got to be normal. We need professionals. People who went to school to do this, to educate, in fact, I still have people who don't believe that, you know, you can educate a child without an education degree. Yeah, believe it or not, your child knows less than you do. And if you're a relatively intelligent person, you can educate a child. Not good. There's a lot of things about, you know, about the house and wives and wherefores, but
The idea of a school district saying, your child must go to school. Your child must be involved here. And we're going to teach your child this and we will not let you, that ladies and gentlemen, that is an arrogant elitism that needs a strong, a vigorous response. I don't mean a violent response, but I mean a vigorous response.
Every parent that is opposed to this should be in that principal's office, should be at that school board going, how dare you, you arrogant, explative. That is my child, not yours. You do not determine. You, by the way, everybody on the school board that approved that should be terminated immediately. They should not win another election. They should not be able to be elected dog catcher.
because the arrogance of saying, we know better what your children need to know. We know better the morals your child should be exposed to. And when they're ready to be exposed to it and how much they're supposed to be encouraged to adopt these morals, that is the arrogance and that ladies and gentlemen, that has been going on again for decades.
granted, I mean, I remember I went to school many, many, many decades, many decades ago, ladies and gentlemen, many, I think was a, I'm going to be close to my 45th reunion. I don't even know if they're putting on their own unions anymore. My point is I've been, I've talked about, I went to school in the 70s, mostly. I graduated in 81. And we were seeing some of this professional arrogance.
That's what, but that, that, that builds on top of itself. See, if, if you're told, if you're trained through school that only the experts can decide, your parents don't know not anything, you have to have an expert who went to school for this. Well, then you don't need to know the constitution because you need to be an expert to understand it, even though that's not true. And you can't make up a decision about what to put in your arm. No, no, no, you have to listen to the experts.
And even when the experts are wrong, you still got to listen to them. And when they said that we're all going to be dead by 2000 because of global warming and it turned out not to be true, we still have to listen because they're the experts. That's the arrogance of elitism. You don't have to be right. You don't have to make sense. You just have to have the right degrees from the right schools and have the arrogance to believe you know better than everybody else.
Now, if you want to make decisions for yourself, that's absolutely fine. But there are companies out there who they're making decisions we disagree with, but we keep giving them our money. We keep buying their stuff. How about we buy from companies that believe what we believe? For example, Patreon Mobile is America's only Christian conservative wireless provider. Welcome back, everyday Americans. You've rejoined the Constitution study and we're talking about the arrogance of elitism. The idea that we know better than everybody else and those who oppose us must be destroyed. And I've already talked about several examples. There's one that I've talked about before as well, and I want to expand a little bit. And that has to do with FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
another one of those illegal agencies that, well, seems to have such an impact on our lives, generally at some of the worst moments. So, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody announced that she is filing a lawsuit against FEMA alleging discrimination against hurricane victims who supported former President Donald Trump.
That's a sidebar. He keeps being referred to as presidential president-elect. He's not president-elect yet. He's not president-elect until December. But that's only because we don't know how we elect a president anymore. So that's beside the point. So she's filing a lawsuit against the FEMA administrator, D.N. Criswell, and the former supervisor for violating the rights of Florida residents in response to Hurricane's Helene in September and Milton in October.
And the lawsuit claims that FEMA personnel intentionally avoided assisting Trump supporting residents in the Lake Placid, Florida area.
Now it is alleged that a FEMA supervisor directed her aid teams to avoid homes with Trump flags or Trump signs in the front yard after Hurricane Milton hit Florida. And this was revealed by internal staff communications. Marnie Washington, a disaster supervisor, assistant crew leader in Highland County, basically is the one who's accused of
being behind this directive. Don't go to places where you see Trump signs. Now FEMA terminated Ms. Washington and they disclosed that, yes, they terminated her. They say the case has been referred to the Office of Special Counsel for further investigations. Ms. Criswell called the actions a clear violation of FEMA's core values and principles to serve all people impartially. And okay.
I could believe that this was the act of a one rogue supervisor that was placing politics above everything else or probably more likely the caricature of politics. In other words, the caricature of Donald Trump that had been promoted in the media for so long, Hitler, Nazi, how to kill people, just an awful
the expectation that Trump voters were deplorables, garbage people, you know, violent, dangerous, he, he sees, hicks, whatever you do. That may have been that, that, you know, we know better. We're going to bundle everybody together and put those labels on them. But now Ms. Washington stated that such actions were not an isolated event.
that there were other disaster supervisor assistant teams that claim practices in both North and South Carolina as well. FEMA has not responded so far, at least not that I'm aware of, to that additional allegations. But again, it brings into me, it brings into question, hey, we've got these emergency experts. Are some of them politicizing their office?
because they know better. We, we, you know, supporting Trump, you're not worthy of our help because you're obviously a dangerous radical that, um, that cannot be trusted. We can't dare go near you while you might be violent against us. But it also shows the flip side of this elitism. See, we think of elitism as, you know, the stuff shirts, the, the special people. And that's true.
But there's a flip side to that coin. And that is the people who believe, well, you hold this position. Therefore you must be right. You're a doctor. You must be right. You're a, you're, you're a politician or you're a journalist. It must be true if it's on the, if it's on the news program, right? That's the, the power of leadism over us.
the assumption that just because someone has a degree, they know what they're talking about or that they cannot be wrong or that they don't have their own agenda. The sad part is that trust, that unwavering, that uncritical trust can lead to a lot of dangerous situations.
For example, we all know about the millions of people who have entered this country illegally under the Biden administration. And we've also hopefully know that many of the ones that the Biden administration claim are legal are actually not here legally because the Biden administration failed to apply the law when it comes to what isn't is not who isn't is not eligible for asylum. They simply ignored that and said, we'll grab everybody asylum for you and asylum for you.
And that had a tremendous impact on our country, not just the influx, but the cities, especially the sanctuary cities that encourage people to come and decide to provide for them and realize, ooh, this is going to be a lot more expensive than we thought.
We've talked about, you know, in season California, we've talked about New York City. We've talked about the Chicago and Michigan and the cities and states that have adopted these, these quote unquote sanctuary policies. And again, apparently not out of a
I don't wanna be unkind, right? To me, it seems more of a political move than a true caring for citizens, right? Because again, how much pain and suffering have the citizens and the legal residents of those cities and states suffered? Well, now there's another consequence that I think more and more Americans are gonna be dealing with.
See these sanctuary jurisdictions is not being reported that from federal law enforcement, they've released, they have freed tens of thousands of criminal migrants during the Biden administration.
According to US law enforcement data more than 22,000 criminal migrants by criminal migrants I don't mean someone who entered this country illegally I mean something somebody who's committed a crime outside of their entry into the United States These are people have committed other crimes Have simply been released into the country because well we can't hand them over to eyes to be deported because well We're we're sanctuary city. We don't do that
Now the stories of people who have been killed or raped or assaulted by illegal aliens, people here illegally, they obviously garner attention.
But I want to think, think about this way. You are a mayor of a sanctuary city or maybe you're on the city council or maybe you're a governor or a state legislature and you're going to say we have people with criminal records that happen to be here illegally. So because they're here, because I entered this country illegally, we're going to give them a get out of jail free card for their other criminal activities.
See, that's the, to me, the arrogance of the elitist saying, oh, but nobody's illegal. I'm sorry. If you commit a crime, that's it makes you, it doesn't mean you're illegal by birth. It means you've committed a crime. Now you may be an alleged illegal alien or maybe convicted illegal alien. But if you break the same way, if you shoplift, you're a shoplifter.
Now, you may be an alleged shoplifter, you may be a convicted shoplifter, but this is something you've done. And to pretend the laws don't matter,
The arrogance of a leader says, we know better than the law. We know better than the people whose representative passed those laws. We know better. Now listen, when you come into federal law, there's a lot of those laws that, yeah, I think I know better. Why? Because I've read the Constitution and I can show that they're unconstitutional. It doesn't mean I simply say the laws don't exist.
I fight against those laws. I push against those laws. But too often we see you saying, no, no, we're just going to, you broke the law to get here. Fine. Come here. We'll feed you. We'll house you. We'll give you a stipend. Maybe we'll try to find you a job.
You commit another crime, we'll let you go. We won't turn you over to deportation because, well, we don't like this idea of actually treating people who enter the country illegally as if they actually enter the country illegally. The arrogance if we know better. Now, I'm sure you'll notice a lot of this. I keep pointing towards the progressives and the Democrats, but again, I've also pointed out on the Republican side, we'll see it as well.
I'm kind of curious to see what happens with the Gates investigation. Questions about Mr. Haggseth? Will we say, oh, see, no, they're, they're, they're leaders in the Republican Party. We can't, we can't question them because that would make us disloyal to the Republican Party. What about our oath to the Constitution?
See, as soon as we make people elite, as soon as we place experts as if they are infallible, the arrogance sets in. It's only an opinion until there's proof. An expert opinion is still only an opinion until there is proof.
But when we let special people make decisions, whether they be school boards or journalists or county officials or who knows, part of the federal agency, as soon as we allow the experts to run a muck, we're not just, we're not, you know, we're not a Republican anymore.
but then we can't be free because we're basically telling people you don't have the liberty to decide for yourself. Liberty, that term that we use so often, freedom, liberty, rights. We keep forgetting. That means you live your life as you see fit, free from unnecessary external influences, paraphrasing from Webster's 1828 dictionary.
the ability to live like the way you see fit, that you get to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. You get to decide. And that the only time people are allowed to tell you otherwise is when your actions harm somebody else. Deprive them of their rights, cause them injury.
It's the only time they can legitimately say, no, you don't get to live your life the way you want. But we've lost that somewhere. We keep waiting for government to take care of us. Whether it's the, the people waiting for FEMA to come save them from a disaster to those who are waiting for the, the government to tell the schools to stop oppressing or promoting their own agenda.
We're not living free because we have given through our acquiescence, we've given the experts, the elitists, the authority to tell us how to live our lives. We gave it to them. We listened to them. Well, when I say we, I mean as a society, I don't. You want me, you want me to do something? Show it to me, prove it to me. I'm not doing it because some government actor said so.
It's amazing what happens when you realize that you can say no to government. It's wonderful. But as long as we believe that the elitists, or as long as we act, as if the elitists have the authority to tell us how to live, I don't think we can be free.
Now, personal, my journey towards true liberty started when I actually sat down and read the Constitution. And I realized not just how much I had not been taught about the Constitution, but how much of what I had been taught was actually wrong. You should see the fun I have with attorneys with that, when it's actually wrong. Now, if you want to follow that journey with me,
