And a big opportunity for fans to catch McCabe and Schifrin in action with a possible milestone victory.
writing on it we'll talk all about that in a sec apologies for the uh... late start here had some uh... equipment issues at the hilton garden in where we do our program regularly but uh... we got all results we are going to do our usual three-hour thing here right up the road from the dark with coach bus depot that includes the hour of saturday sports talk followed by rich parker rob woodard with valley buzz at ten o six they will follow me immediately take you up to twelve to complete the three hours of live and local here on ntk in uvr i will be on next week so they'll pick up the extra hour and we'll get back to
doing our usual thing on the first Saturday of December. But until we get to that point, with the reminder that Jesse's in the studio in Newport at 6038438623, let's talk about the world of sports from last night because not everything that happened in sports made it to today's newspaper. We're going to talk about it and read about it.
Today up at Hanover, Oda Field familiar as the Dartmouth Big Green wraps up its football season against Brown at noon at Buddy Teven Stadium at Memorial Field. We were in this exact same situation last year, except it was down in Providence at the time. Dartmouth needed to win its final game of the Ivy League season over Brown, needed help from Yale beating Harvard to claim a share of the Ivy League championship. That all worked out in interesting ways. Dartmouth blew away Brown down in Providence, and then the players had their phones out checking video to see what was happening
over the Yale Bowl to wrap up the game, the annual meeting between Harvard and Yale. Well, it's going to be the same thing today, just different situations. Dartmouth hosting Brown up at Buddy T. Williams Stadium looking to complete what would be an 8-2 season and a 5-2 season in league play after last week's loss at Cornell, taking on a Brown team that can move the ball pretty well, but doesn't do very well in defense. They won their first two games of the year, including an upset of Harvard that has a role in today's championship scenario.
But since then, they have only one once in their last six, and hence are near the bottom of the Ivy League standings. They can throw the ball. Quarterback Jake Wilcox is 232 or 363 for 2,300 plus yards this year, but he has more interceptions, 12, than touchdown passes, 11, so he can be made to make mistakes. And even in the loss of Cornell last week, the Big Green had a season-high 3-8 receptions as Micah Green, Patrick Campbell, and Sean Williams all had picks, so the defense can do it.
The Dartmouth is going to have to pick up the victory today in order to get that share. It would be 22 league championships if the big green can pull it off with help. We'll see how it goes. Noon at Memorial Field. The rest of the schedule has Yale, at Harvard, and Cornell, at Columbia. The Lions are also in the picture. Basically, if Yale loses, the door is open for either Dartmouth, Columbia, or both to get a share of the Ivy title. And if somehow Columbia gets that piece, it'll be the first time, I think, since 1960 that they've had a piece.
of Ivy Honors, but it all begins with Yale beating Harvard and then everybody else has got to do what they've got to do. Meanwhile, UNH has kind of worked its way back into the discussion for the NCAA football championship subdivision playoffs. A big win over nationally ranked Stony Brook last week, 31-30, moved the Wildcats back into the top 25 in one of the national polls. They got votes in the other one. So going into the annual Bryce Cowell Musket game with Maine today, UNH with the win may get some consideration for the NCAA FCS
playoffs next week, but again, have to win against their arch rivals. They've had a lot of success in recent years. They won the last two times they've met 11 of the last 13, but Maine wins over UNH have a way of creating huge damage if Maine pulls off the upset today and they can do it. They're not bad. They're about a 500 team. They would most certainly knocked UNH out of playoff consideration. The Wildcats won't have any factors as far as the league is concerned because Richmond leads it at 7-0 right now with Delaware and Rhode Island both at 6-1.
the only teams that are going to be likely to grab the conference championship. Top 25 football some interesting games today in the Big Ten fifth ranks Indiana takes on number two Ohio State for supremacy in the Big Ten right now the Hoosiers have the better record undefeated through ten with seven and oh record in the Big Ten Ohio State nine in one
and six-in-one, respectively. Other game that kind of catches my eye should be a fun one in New York at Yankee Stadium tonight. This 19th ranked army goes up against number six Notre Dame. Earlier this year, both army and navy were undefeated and looking at possibly running into each other in the American Athletic Conference Championship game with that record, as well as their army and navy game coming up the week after that. But Notre Dame blew up Navy a couple of weeks ago. The midshipmen have faded a little bit. Army will go into the AAC Championship game against Tulane. That matchup was pretty much set.
but they will certainly want to do well in a uh... uh... litmus test game today against the fighting irish contest that starts at seven o'clock at Yankee stadium new england patriots playing out the string uh... with a game against the miami dolphins down in florida coming up tomorrow afternoon at one o'clock most of the guys on the injury reporter either defensive or on the offensive line definitely out defensive tackle jacklin roy with a neck injury uh... offensive lineman very and low at that touchdown reception the other week
for the Patriots and Cole Strange are both listed as injured and then you got about seven or eight guys who play on the defense who are either injured or as in the case with Christian Barmore still watching his blood clot situation he did come back last week was a factor in the contest nice to see him make it back but of course that's a medical thing that you're going to really want to pay attention to after six years with the New York Giants Daniel Jones is done yesterday he asked and was given a release from the team in order to see if he can reboot his career elsewhere
He struggled in quite mightily times for the Giants, and particularly this year, with a team that had lost five straight games, but once demoted to the QB3 position, realized that his time with the Giants was probably up, so he's now a free agent assigned with anybody once he gets through waivers. Brock Purdy will miss tomorrow's game, a huge one for the San Francisco 49ers going up against Green Bay in Wisconsin. He's continuing to have issues with shoulder soreness, so Brandon Allen will get the start for the Niners, and that one Niners are on the outside looking in.
on the playoff picture. NBA basketball down at Washington last night. Jalen Brown, 31 points. And the Celtics overcame an off-night for Jason Tatum to beat the Washington Wizards 108 to 96 in an NBA Cup contest. The Celtics are 2-1 in East Group C and have one game remaining in it. Washington is 0-2 in the tournament and they have lost 10 straight games overall. Wizards still stayed in the contest in the fourth quarter. They were down by five in the final minute when Brown made a high-arking jumper to make it 99-92 with 46 seconds to go.
That pretty much set it for the Celtic last night. 16 points for Tatum, but it was over 10 from three-point range. Scoreboard from last night. Winners in the NBA saw Golden State clinch their division in the NBA Cup with a 112-108 victory over the Pelicans. Other winners included Houston, Chicago, Milwaukee, win for the Dallas Mavericks over Denver, 123 to 122.
and the LA Clippers beat the Sacramento Kings. The Dartmouth men's hockey, women's hockey, men's basketball, women's basketball teams are all off for finals. They'll be off most of next week as well with the holiday. You won't see anybody get back to action until next Friday with the men's hockey and men's basketball, both playing contests down to Boston College. ECAC hockey last night, Brown over clerks and one to nothing. Quinnipiac may Cornell three to one.
Colgate 2, Princeton 1, UMass beating Harvard and non-league play, 5-3. Yale was a 5-1 winner over St. Lawrence. Hockey East last night, Boston College rallied up, but I should say Boston University rallied to beat Merrimack. 6-3, main winner at the win over UNH 3-1. Boston College shutout, North Eastern, 3-0. And Yukon surprised UMass Lowell by a count of 4-1. Two games in the NHL last night. Winnipeg was a 4-1 winner in Pittsburgh. The Buffalo Sabres won in overtime in Anaheim 3-2.
This busy game's busy schedule, as you should say, for the NHL tonight with 15 contests, including the Bruins, visiting the Detroit Red Wings. The Conference Semifinals Major League Soccer playoff start today, New York City FC, visiting New York Red Bulls, and a match that will be played at City Field in New York. LAFC is hosting Seattle in the other contest, and actually New York City FC is the host, I should say, in that Empire State and Gotham matchup.
Other semi-final conference action tomorrow at Landon United, which of course upset Leo Messi and inner Miami last week, they will be in Orlando to take on the Lions and the LA Galaxy taking on Minnesota United National Women's Soccer League Championship matches tonight in Kansas City Orlando taking on Washington and a match up to the top two teams. PGA toured out at Sea Island, Georgia for the RSM classic Patrick Fishburne has the lead at 11 under par with Maverick McNeely Lee Hodges just behind. LPGA.
is at the CMA Globe Tour Championship, and that is down in Florida with Angel Yin and the lead at 10 under par. He and Troy and Naranhan are both two shots back at Nelly Cora. Number one player in the world for most of the year is four shots off the pace tied for fourth place. History could be in the making of Killington next week with Michaela Shiffrin coming in to compete in giant slalom and slalom racing next weekend. That's because today in Austria she's picked off her 99th career win
had the top run to the first run of the slalom at gurgle austria follow that up with another good run one by a half second over laura coltory of uh... albanium the men will be racing in the austria tomorrow in slalom action that killing activity next saturday giant slalom and the following sunday the first of december the slalom the annual weekend action up at killington and in racing uh... george russell has the poll for the uh... formula one los vegas grand prix tonight
And to no great surprise, Chase Elliott, named the most popular driver in NASCAR at the season ending awards last night. That's it for read about it. We're going to talk some Dartmouth football next here on Saturday Sports Dogs. Stick around. Thanks for the night. You didn't even take it away. And it was a smackset. Rock and flab along the way. So when you went there, a pro-moan. All of all joined us.
It's a real song in the shower Yes, you got away The same, but I can never say it right Right on, but I feel weak You make me feel strong You make me feel strong I won't say your name But you know what you want I'll never be the same again now No way
Time 25 on Saturday Sports Talk. Greg Vennel with you from the Hilton Garden in London. A little bit late. I apologize for the technology issues at this end today. I hope you got it cleaned up. Ready to roll and we'll be doing this for quite a while now. I'll be going up till 10 o'clock and then Rich and Woody coming in at 10.06 for Valley Bus to conclude the three hours of life on local up in noon here on WNTKWUVR. They will have the whole three hours next week should they desire because I'll be off
Visiting family for the Thanksgiving weekend, but I'll be back here for the first Saturday of December, gone for another vacation, and then, till whenever, as far as Saturday mornings are concerned. We're kind of in a little bit of a lull, obviously. The high school fall season officially ended last week with Mascoma winning the New Hampshire Division 4 State Football Championship. Two more divisions have their finals in New Hampshire today, and the Division 1 will have its title game next weekend. Let's wrap up that part of everything.
As for Dartmouth, this is finals week. So everybody involved in getting their classes done, folks heading on out. In fact, my wife and I mentor a couple of players on the Dartmouth football program, one of whom is a freshman who has already got his airfare back to the Atlanta area and is leaving first thing tomorrow morning. Well, maybe closer to lunch, but he's getting out of town quickly. The other one has a final on Monday.
and doesn't head home until Tuesday. So he gets to have the the fun of running into heavy airport traffic before he returns to his family in Georgia. As for the football team itself, obviously, focused on the here and now. And if you read local publication coverage of Dartmouth football this week, you might have seen senior linebacker Braden Mullen put it succinctly, nothing else in the world matters. No matter what's going on down in Cambridge today at the game with Gail and Harvard, no matter what's going on with Cornell and Columbia,
what matters is going up against brown noon at buddy team in stadium a more memorial field because of dartment doesn't win that game they don't get a share or at least a shot at a share of the ivy league championship the sad thing is that uh... dartmouth could have and should have been in position to have the title all by itself uh... but uh... faded against harvard a couple weeks ago in the last game three weeks ago actually in the last game uh... up at uh... buddy team in stadium and then after two on the road
winning down at Princeton and then losing at Cornell last week, find themselves looking up at Harvard, which has been on a bender ever since losing to Brown early in the season. I believe the Crimson of 1, 6 in a row, and hence why they're 8-in-1 in league play, 8-in-1 overall, 5-in-1 in league play, well Dartmouth is 72 and 4 and 2. Last week was a disappointment. I think I did say on the program last week that strange things have been known to happen
At Cornell, when the big ring goes over there, even in times when they've been heavily favored to win games, they find ways to lose. And that was the case last week in a 39-22 defeat. Dartmouth started slowly against the big red, did get one point leads of 7-6 in the second quarter and 14-13 in the third, but it all went down the toilet from there with the Cornell big red scoring 23 straight points to take control. Six of them coming on a fumble recovery that was returned for a touchdown.
The Big Green uncharacteristically turned the ball over four times in that contest. While this is a team that does not generate a lot of turnovers on defense, they've been very good about not turning the ball over this year. And against the quarterback of the talent of Jameson Wang with the offensive weapons that he had, Big Green was not able to contain him and hence Cornell picked up the game and ran away with it and opened the door for Harvard to win an undisputed
Ivy League championship if they are to prevail in the game against Yale today. So getting back to Braden Mullins remarks. The only thing Dartmouth needs to focus on is itself and the moment. So the things that Dartmouth has to do for one is keep Brown from getting its high powered offense going. They are the leaders in the Ivy League in first downs and in passing offense. Their passing offense also is good for ninth nationally. So the potential is there for Brown to be able to move the ball, put points on the board quickly.
Whether the weather and the wet conditions affect things will have to see how people handle the turf over at Buddy Tivens Stadium. Jake Wilcox is the quarterback for Brown this year. He's 232, 363, 2384 yards. Here's the thing that catches my eye. 11 touchdowns but 12 interceptions. So he's somebody who can be made to make mistakes and throw in bad places. He does have a lot of people to throw the ball to Mark Mahoney. 44 catches 539 yards so far.
and Matt Childs, who's also the top running back for Brown, is second in receptions at 28 with 376 yards out of the backfield. But Brown has lost, I believe, five straight games and has really struggled, not played very well since upsetting Harvard in the second week of the season. That was a huge wake-up call for the Crimson and really has motivated them to be as good as they have been over the last three-fourths
of the uh... football season uh... so brown has the potential just like cornell had the potential last week to put points on the board against the government defense is generally been pretty good this year uh... there are some similarities uh... the difference being that the game is at home today which should provide a little bit of comfort uh... big rain did get some good defensive performances last week even in giving up thirty nine points mica green patrick campbell shawn williams all had interceptions that's a good sign for the big green to get that many
turnovers, forced that many turnovers in a game. Doesn't help when you give the ball back more though. Daniel Houghton has stepped up to be a reliable receiver. In the absence of Paxton Scott, the fifth year, got hurt several weeks ago. Last time we saw him, he was on crutches with a walking boot, moving along the sidelines at the Harvard game. And from what I've heard, he's done for the year, unfortunately. He had been playing very well for Dartmouth this year, moving up the career list, catches and yards and touchdowns.
So to see his playing career in that fashion was kind of painful. Dartmouth has developed other sources and Houghton being one of them had a career high, six receptions and a career high 101 yards receiving plus a touchdown in that loss to Cornell last week. Chris Corbo has kind of turned into the go-to guy for quarterback Jackson Proctor who threw reasonably well last week, one touchdown 258 yards, 26 of 37 career highs for both attempts and completions, the interceptions.
were what killed the big green last week. But Corbo has turned into a reliable target at tight end. He's a big target. Maybe not Rob Gronkowski size, but at the Ivy League level, he can kind of give that presentation. So when the big green gets the ball inside the 10, don't be surprised to see if Proctor looks for Corbo in the end zone. He has six touchdown receptions this year, and that's the most by a Dartmouth player since Drew Estrada had eight back in 2019.
Other thing the Dartmouth has to do today is get the running game going. This is a unit that ran well through the first half of the season. But ever since the Harvard loss has struggled to get the ball going on the ground last week, just 60 yards on 25 carries altogether by Dartmouth as its team. Need to find a way to free up Q Jones. And it's also important that Q and his running backs hit those holes instead of trying to stretch plays out to the sidelines
and turn the corner. Yes, they have the speed to do that, but sometimes they're also running up against speed on defense. And that's where plays break down and that's where drives break down. Hit the hole, go through the hole, and then find that second level and proceed from there. So the situation again, in a nutshell, it's Harvard's championship to win. They go up against Yale at 12 o'clock. It's down in Cambridge today. And then Columbia at home in Manhattan taking on Cornell today at noon.
The teams that all have some sort of say in the Ivy League football championship are all playing at the same time today and fans can monitor either on ESPN or whatever to see how those games are going. But the big one is right up here, right up the road and hand over for Dartmouth footballs. They take on Brown at 12 o'clock. If Harvard wins, Ivy League championship is all theirs. I believe that'd be number 19 for them if I'm not mistaken. If they lose, opens the door for Dartmouth and for Columbia. Dartmouth gets a share. That's 22.
extends their Ivy League record. If Columbia ends up with a share, that would be big news because Columbia has only gotten an Ivy League football championship once. I believe that was in 1960 or at least it was in the 60s. So we're talking at least 60 years since the Lions have been able to call themselves Ivy League football champions. They've certainly been good enough to do it. They gave Harvard a battle. They gave Dartmouth a battle. They've beaten everybody else in the league and they've stayed in the picture on the outside looking in kind of like Dartmouth for the past week.
Um, so it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but of course being local as we are, we want to see Dartmouth grab this thing, and is going to need help to do so. The other game, of course, has no relevance whatsoever. Penn and Princeton playing in their annual season concluded down in Princeton, New Jersey today, and that'll be one o'clock contest. So that'll wrap up the Ivy League football season. As we know, it doesn't go any further than that. UNH, of course, playing Maine today in the Bryce Cowell musket game, Wildcats win,
I think they have a shot at making the field for the NCAA football championship subdivision playoff, which field I think would be announced on Monday. Got a big win over nationally ranked Stony Brook last week. Maine, of course, the annual arch-rival, this one going up in Oreno, Maine today. Road trip for the Wildcats won't be easy, but if they get that victory, they should be looking forward to playoff consideration next week. So we're in that break.
in between the fall season and the winter season as far as high schools are concerned we have one other contest to look back at and we'll talk about some uh... all stars as well as we come back on saturday sports talk just a moment right here and w and t k and w u v r
You don't wanna share with anyone else You're kind of a money You're kind of a wealth You're kind of a building to the fact of it You're kind of a talent gonna get underneath You wanna play a game of kind enough With a fantasy in the white house And since I'm hung, we will build a masterpiece To a million men, wait for the day name
I've got to figure the Ramones have to eat something for Thanksgiving. It's really hard to find Thanksgiving punk songs out there. So that's probably about the closest we could do anyway at 9.40 or so every edition of Saturday Sports Talk you get your mandatory Ramones right here. So hopefully it gives you the power to get through all the cooking you're going to be doing for the next week. All the turkey and all the stuffing and all the sweet potatoes and all the apple pie and poi. Are you getting tired thinking about it already?
I know I am Greg Fennell with you here on Saturday Sports Talk. I'll be getting a chance to be with family though at some point this week when things start to calm down a little bit as they are in the world of high school sports in the upper valley with the high school season concluding last week with Mascoma football doing something that Mascoma football had never done before when a state championship. Congratulations to the guys over in West Canaan who completed an eight and one season
with a forty-five to nothing route of uh... uh... raman last week in laconia in the division four state championship game as uh... pretty sure we talked about last week the royals had only once in their history made a state final that was back in twenty twelve when the nh i double a had fractured football into six divisions they since coalesced down to four and something that seems to be reasonably stable and mascoma which had struggled is recently is a couple years ago to get more than a couple of wins in a season
uh... has certainly worked its way up the ladder to deserve the state championship what i did not expect was to be as lopsided or as it was i think it kind of helped that the royals and rams met in week one a game that raman one thirty nine twelve and ultimately decided who would have the top seed who would be the number two seed i don't think it was a whole lot of uh... doubt that they were uh... going to have a uh... match up in the final at some point because nobody really challenged either from all that much
as the season went on, but lo and behold the Royals were all over it. And actually buying into some other prognosticators believed that the score was going to be similar but the other way around with Raymond pulling off the route. But instead the Royals rode the fine quarterbacking of Brody Gollett who through I think through for two touchdowns ran for one in the first half and that kind of set the table for a superior effort by the Royals in all faces of the game.
So congratulations to Mascoma Coach John Daly for everything he's done. I know I said this last week. It doesn't surprise me to see how Mascoma Athletics has gradually improved on multiple fronts over the past few years. Basketball has always been a big thing. When I first moved up here in the late 80s, Mascoma was one of the excellent Division III or what was then called Class M programs in the state. They were always competitive. They were always winning state championships. So basketball has always been a point of pride
in West Canaan. It's the other sports where they're really starting to make some noise. Keep in mind that football winning gave Mascoma three state championships this fall. They won cross country for the first time. They won the bass fishing state to meet for the second year in a row. So the boys programs have really done well in recent years. Field hockey has been very good historically at Mascoma. It's recently is 2020 making the state finals. You remember that story.
with COVID still raging quite regularly all over the country. The NHIWA did have protocols in place to play sports and ultimately in the state semifinals against Bishop Brady. Mascoma looked to have a 1-0 win move on to what would have been the state championship only to give up a goal in the final touch of regulation and then learning after regulation that the team that would have been facing them in the state championship, Berlin,
would have to forfeit because of a positive COVID test within the program, turn a semi-final into a final, and ultimately Brady won that in overtime. Strange situation, but still a sign of how good Mascoma field hockey has been over the years and continues to be. Boy soccer got to the state final with a better result. Mascoma could have bragged about four state championships in one fall season. They fell to Hopkinson, but still undefeated going into the state championship, only one loss in 20 games.
a lot to be proud about. And then, of course, a girl soccer getting the program started three years into it, and they've gradually improved as well. Now it's up to baseball, softball to start to catch up and see where they're going. But Mascoma, because that is the part of the upper valley that I think most people are starting to move toward in the face of high housing costs in Hartford, Lebanon, and Hanover. That's the next logical point of progression, migration, if you will, and field cane in places like that.
around Mascoma Lake, beautiful place to have a home. And I think that's drawing families to that portion of the Upper Valley and hence that's drawing more kids into the athletic programs at Mascoma and I think that's why we're seeing more success. And of course, coaching has something to do with it, very good coaching at Mascoma. So congratulations all around to Mascoma High School for the three state titles and extra state final in Boyes Soccer, wrapping it all up last Saturday in Laconia with that 45 to nothing route of Raymond.
in the state championship. They're going to lose some guys to graduation, I always do, but that's a great sign to see them do as well as they did through the football season. Now, the past week I've been made aware of some all-state lists that have been coming out, and I've only had the chance to look at them deeply today, but I'm going to try here in the next couple of minutes to throw out the names in the schools of the guys who are getting these honors. I might miss a couple because I'm ad-living as we go here,
Let's give it a shot. Vermont football wrapped up a couple of weeks ago. This past week, the all-states elections came out, and as you would expect, Windsor Woodstock and Hartford all very well represented. In Division 1 for Hartford, Aiden Harrington, first team on the offensive line. Teammates Adam Wheatley and Graham Thompson made second team on the offensive line. Richard Rosenbeck was an honorable mention in that position.
Uh, tight end, Hartford's Colby Tierney made a second team at wide receiver. No selections for Hartford, which is not a great big surprise because this is a team that is very much running back based. As far as other positions running back for Hartford, Nick Daniels and Austin St. Peter, both making first team, Nick no great surprise there as he was the guy who provided most of the offense for Hartford all season as they made it to the state semifinals and St. Peter was quite often the second option out of the backfield.
Noah Danielli, who also had a good season in the backfield for Hartford, was a second-team choice at running back. Other positions in the Division I choices. Colph Ocean, rather, made second-team as punter for Hartford. Austin St. Peter was a second-team returner with Rex Banning making the honorable mention in that position. And on the defensive side, a lot of the same guys getting mentioned for their play.
in uh... the other side of the ball at uh... defensive line colby terry terry and grian thompson both first team is for hard for to remember seeing thompson get a uh... pick six uh... for touchdown against brattleborough in week three up at hardford adam wheatley was a second-team uh... lineman for hardford on the inside linebacker position noad and yelly making the first team for hardford and at the outside backer position tyler piper uh... tyler piper making first team for the hurricanes nick daniel's second team for hardford
in the defense of backfield Austin, St. Peter, made first team, Rex Banning, made a second team for Hartford. That's all you got for Hartford, from what I can tell, in the Division I choices. Division III, of course, Woodstock, going all the way undefeated, winning the state championship. I don't think this is the second year in a row or a second time in three years, but Ramsey Worrell from Woodstock was named Coach of the Year in Division III, so congratulations to him. Very well earned. In terms of all state picks,
First team quarterback to Axel Oates of Woodstock. Second team to Tanner Crane of Windsor. Three players from Woodstock at running back. First team, Caden Perro, Vince Petrone, Carter Warren, along with Justin Draper and Gavin Martin from Windsor. The wide perceiver position has been run steam making first team from Woodstock and Brody McGaffigan making second team. And Rowan Larmy was the first team tight end representing the Wasp in the Division 3 Allstate team.
Offensive line, Woodstock's entire offensive line made first team it seems. Colton Kowalski, Gianni Blanchard, Dominic Bilazzo, Ben Bundy and Chance Palmer all first team along with Joey Godette from Windsor. On the defensive line Woodstock getting four players on the first team in Rowan Larmy, Chance Palmer, Ryan Woodard and Colton Kowalski. Also Gianni Blanchard's second team on the defensive line and Nick Liduk was an honorable mention for Windsor.
Linebacker, first teamers for Woodstock, Ben Benadie, and Vince Petrone, joined by Justin Draper, Joey Godette, and Gavin Martin from Windsor on the first team. Woodstock's Riley O'Neill, the second team, Linebacker, and Ray Petrone made the third team. Defensive back for Woodstock, all four regulars, Caden Perro, Ben Runstein, Carter Warren, Asher Emery, were first team all-staters. Morgan Johnson from Windsor's second team, and Turtle Peschke from Windsor was an honorable mention.
Kicking team, Asher Emery, Ben Runstein for Woodstock, both make first team. The punter from Woodstock, Ryan Woodard was first team. All-Stater as well. And if we can get the rest of this computer to follow through, we can tell you about Caden Perot and Vince Patrone, both making special teams return first team. And Division 3, Aiden Dokster from Windsor, getting the choice as second team. So those are all staters for Vermont Football, as announced by the Vermont Football Coaches Association earlier in the week.
Since we have a break coming up next, and some more ad-libbing and kind of do look through lists, we'll pause on the New Hampshire All-State soccer. I will mention though, before we get to the break, to not forget that today is not just football finish day for Dartmouth, it is the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association Championship between number one Dartmouth, number two Harvard, that's four o'clock, Burnham Field, where the soccer teams play. Last time this happened, these two met two years ago,
Dartmouth got the win in front of more than 1,100 people. It's going to be a big crowd even on a crappy weather day like this. So if you don't get your football in, you'll get your rugby football in at 4 o'clock up at hand over today. I hope you take advantage of one or the other. When we come back, we'll take a quick look at all-state soccer in New Hampshire and throw a full run of Rimalati mentioned at you. All coming up next here on Saturday's Sports Talk. Stick around.
Oh, it's good. Love to eat, cook like a good boy should cuz it's turkey to eat. So good. That clappin's messing my head up, man. I appreciate it.
But I was trying to think of the next line. I'm like, well, I hear he's clapping. Well, he got a bigger applause. We can get it here, right? It's kind of hard, like I said, to find good Thanksgiving songs out of a punk vein. It's not easy, but we found a few there, and we kind of stretched the rules a little bit for our music today. The Dems, thanks for the night, descendants. Thank you. Bad religions lost. Pilgrim, Ramones. Eat that rat. Bad brains would give thanks. And praises on, of course, New Hampshire native and Manchester Central High School graduate.
Adam Sandler with a little bit of the Thanksgiving song here for your music on Saturday Sports Talk. Coming up on 9.55, if you did not see it, you should have. Fuller and Romelade, former Dartmouth defensive lineman. Number two all-time sack leader in Dartmouth football history was part of the Toronto Argonauts Great Cup Championship for the Canadian Football League last Sunday in the victory over Winnipeg out in Vancouver. He didn't factor on the final stats, but he did have a decent season for the Argos,
Fifth year in the CFL, he had, I believe, 17 tackles over 12 games, including six sacks. He's more of a specialist than a regular player out there, and obviously he's the six sacks. And 12 games tell you he's still very effective as a pass rusher, so congratulations to him on that. All right, let's see if we can quickly run down some of our honorees for New Hampshire high school soccer. You will have a couple of players from Hanover and Lebanon in the Lions Cup next summer. Dominic Kalins-Rella, Sam Ames, Dominic from Lebanon, Sam from Hanover.
both making the squad along with Otto Borne from Lebanon, who was named player of the year by the New Hampshire coaches this week for Division II. Congratulations to him there. In the Girls Lions Cup roster, Stevens defender Isabella Boval, who helped Cardinals get to the D3 final, selected to play in that along with Keir Sarge's Carly Grant, all a result of tryouts over the past week. Division I, girls soccer, all state. I think I saw just one for Hanover. That's Nora Bradley, first team.
on defense and similar in division two for lebanon with uh... junior brook or brook walker getting honorable mention on the defense for the raiders this past year and uh... division three girls soccer pate in furlan for stevens making the first team on uh... offense faith norton honorable mention on offense for stevens and along with the reports torrents williams uh... stevens uh... addison de roger second-teamer on midfield uh... teammate maddie chambers honorable mention
on midfield. And for defense, division three, Bella Bovell, already making the Lions Cup. First team on defense for Stevens in division three. That's all I saw for leaders there. Oh, the JV coach of the year, Stephen Banis, represents Stevens High. So that was nice to see. In division one, boys, Henry Cotter, injured goalkeeper for Hanover, part of the year. It's still got honorable mention from the state coaches association in division one. So that's really nice to see.
Very young roster for Hanover this year. Freshman getting some honors like Sasha Palm, Honorable Mention at Forward, and also Dino Govetti. Freshman Honorable Mention at Midfield for Hanover. So congratulations to both of them. Also getting recognition Honorable Mention, Midfield, Rowan Palm for Hanover. And I believe that might be it for the, I'm sorry, Sam Ames, second team on defense. I should have expected that as well.
uh... noted before auto-born uh... from eleven high-name player of the year division to congratulations to him and it's fine season on offense for the uh... levenin raiders other levenin players making the division to all-state team uh... mild Saunders honorable mention at midfield to dominate calendrella first team on defense tightus billing second team on defense for the levenin raiders division three lots of honors from ascono of course making their way up to the state championship game but also for others as well
goalie, Matt Favreau from Mascoma, second team goalkeeper, Nevin Marsh from Stevens made the third team. Tanner Molten won a state championship at Bassfishing again for Mascoma. First team forward from Mascoma on the soccer field. Also for Mascoma, Brayton Pierce first team at midfield. And let's see if we can see some others here. Graham West from Keir Sarge, Honorable Mention on midfield. And Mascoma is Marshall New York second team on defense. Matt Goss from Stevens, Honorable Mention.
on defense for all state boy soccer. So hopefully got everybody from the area schools. I may have missed a few since I was kind of reading and talking at the same time. I might have missed something and I apologize if that was the case. So quick note on this final day of fall sports. Dartmouth football noon against Brown. Big Green has to win. Has to get help from Yale beating Harvard if they want to share the Ivy League championship. Again, that's noon at Buddy Teman Stadium of Memorial Field.
And then after that, walk across, which street is that? Is that Park? I think it's Park Street, over to the athletic complex on the east side and over to Burnham Field, where women's rugby will play Harvard at 4 o'clock for the NIRA Championship, trying to win the national title for the second time in three years. That's it for Saturday Sports Talk. Thanks to Jesse Down at the studio, a new port. I'm Greg Fennell, Rich and Woody coming up with Valley Buzz. And next, to carry you till 12 to wrap up the three hours of live in local here in WNTK,
