It's time for News & Views with your host, Dale Jackson.
I'm gonna be honest. I did not want to do Dale show today. I'm just I'm in full transparency. I didn't want to do it. It's the day after Christmas. I'm exhausted. But sometimes you just get thrust in that situation. What happens is because and I know around three different what stations are we on Steve?
Let's see. You're in not only here in Birmingham, but you're also in Montgomery and you will be on in Huntsville a little bit later on stack. All right. Hi, Montgomery. Hi, Huntsville. No offense. But as the midday host here at talk down to nine five in Birmingham, I'm kind of the go to where it's like.
and so
really wasn't lied. I mean, you got that many people crammed in your house and I'm not, I'm not a fan of hosting Christmas or any Thanksgiving or any sort of events at the house. I'm just not a fan of it or rather go to somebody else's house. But my wife loves it. And she loves the decorating and she loves the preparing and getting food for everybody and just having her family all in one place because
This is her side of the family. But there's a lot, I mean a lot that goes into it on the front end. On the back end, God bless her soul. She usually does the clean up, what she's doing today. Fortunately, she's got some days off, but that lead up and that preparation, she comes to me and she hands me a notebook. She's like, here's the things we need to get done. Just highlight what you get done. And I mean, this is a list. It's a mile long. I'm like, Trish.
We're never gonna get this done. But with a little bit of teamwork and some elbow grease, we actually accomplished it and it went well. I had a good time. Everybody had a good time. We're glad we did it. It's just the anxiety of the lead up, I think is where I reside. How was your Christmas, Steve West? Good, quiet. We had a couple of friends come over, but otherwise we just stayed around the house and then did the traditional Christmas story Christmas meal by going out and having Chinese.
Nice. I did. I noticed on social media a tremendous amount of people that went out to either restaurants or bars for Christmas Eve. I didn't know that was a thing going to the bar on Christmas Eve.
The whole Chinese thing, I think, really did take off after the movie A Christmas Story came out. As far as the bar thing is concerned, it kind of only knows where that started. I guess maybe trying to get over massive depression of knowing what bills are coming, so you're just going to add to it by trying to drown your sorrows alcohol. That's true. Everybody's broke at this point.
Um, it, it seemed to be mostly couples, you know, maybe couples that either don't have kids or have grown kids. And it's just them too. Maybe the kids live out of town or just couldn't get together or whatever. And so they're like, you know, let's go to the, let's go to the bar. Let's go grab a drink. Let's go grab something neat. It's not a bad idea. I'm not opposed to it. No, not a horrible idea. But we've just got too many people we're responsible for, obviously.
I've got two step-daughters, but they're adults, 27 and 22, and then mine, which is 14, Peyton's 14 years old. And so we've got at least one young one. I mean, he acts like an adult at this point, but you know, he just got a
you gotta work your way through it and we survived and that's what matters i hope everybody had a merry christmas and uh... everything went smoothly i would get dale to call this show and tell us how his christmas is or how is christmas wise because i'm sure his adoring audience would love to hear that
But since he probably won't call, let's just make educated guesses on what he got for Christmas. What do you think, Steve, that Dale Jackson got from Santa Claus?
Wow, that's an interesting question I hadn't even tried to think about what Dale might be getting. Maybe. I don't know. Some WWE action figures or tickets to an upcoming WrestleMania somewhere down the line. I'm sure something had to be involved in that front. Tickets to Florida's big bowl game against Tulane even though it's already over.
Maybe they got him just the ticket stubs Mmm. What else does he like? Now he's fighting with some some chick on the internet From mountain brook and he's talking about a defamation policy. What is that? This is about by the way, that is the most dale Jackson thing ever Well, that was surrounding a son too because apparently she's gone after him dealing with
dealing with education and school choice. And she's not a big fan of it. If I'm remembering the story correctly about it, I've heard a little bit about it. And I'm trying to remember the whole story, but effectively she has gone so far as to try and call out his son, like that. And yeah, and what school he goes to. And I do believe he goes to a private school and he's like, wait a minute, that's crossing boundaries. You want to go after me, go after me.
You know, because I'm public person, I realize that I'm on the radio and so on and so forth. My son, on the other hand, let's leave that out of it.
But they'll be in in Huntsville, you know, we obviously check in on each other from time to time, but we don't talk often. But I see, I saw a few posts. I saw some videos from this check, who's apparently some sort of, you know, liberal activist, I guess. I don't even know what her backstory is, but she's, you know, got a couple hundred thousand people on social media or TikTok or whatever.
And I don't even know how the feud started. You say it was something to do with a discussion about education? I believe so, yeah. I mean, Dale's very much into the idea of school choice and having your ability to be able to send your child to the best available school that you can get them into. And there are a lot of people that are on the other side of it that just say, hey, listen, public schools are there for a reason.
And I understand the idea behind it, but at the same time, why shouldn't we have the opportunity as and I'm not a parent. I'll be the first person to admit it. But if I were, I would want my son or daughter or my children to be able to get the best education I could possibly give to them. Imagine you got so riled up over education that you got yourself backed into a defamation. I'll say with Dale Jackson. Oh, man.
What a story. Well, here's, I personally, I hope it all plays out with the suit. I would like a, maybe not a lengthy court case. I'm not looking for Dale Jackson to be drained of his finances, but I think the longer this goes on, probably the better. Just for entertainment purposes, like I don't have a dog in the fight. I don't care either way, but it would be
It would be cool to watch it play out and then we could, you know, we could be the jury. The line family, Andrew McLean and the audience, we could be the jury on, you know, how that defamation lawsuit. Cause we can watch from afar. I obviously don't want to be involved in it. I don't have time for that, but, uh, I think it'd make for good radio.
Sure, absolutely. Show prep would be done for a while. That's right. That's right. I'll do every hour, every first hour of my show will be about Dale Jackson's defamation lawsuit. That's pretty crazy though. Because he's posted, you know, different tweets and he's, I guess, reposted videos of some of the stuff she's saying. And my thing is, first of all, you're right, the doxing thing is completely inappropriate because this chick apparently
And again, I'm going off very limited knowledge, so I'm just generalizing what I think I know. If she did docs his kid or where his kid goes to school, she then turns around and starts making videos about how she wants to stop this feud because she's scared for her safety and scared for her children's safety.
and I'm like, why'd you get into it in the first place? I mean, Dell Jackson's not going to hurt you unless you get into a wrestling ring with him. You know, he may hit you with a suplex or something, but as long as you're ready for it and you know the procedures, you'd be all right. You'd be all right.
He's got to dock somebody and then I go up. So who was a chick that did that on Taylor Lorenz? Remember she was the journalist. She used to be a journalist at the Washington Post and she started doxing people. I think she doxed the chick from Libs of TikTok. She doxes her and then people start doxing Taylor Lorenz. And then she does this interview where she's boo-hoo and talking about how she's afraid for her safety. And I'm like,
Well, that's what you get, cause you gave me Dachshund people. You open up the star, you open up that can of worms, you're gonna have to figure out how to close it. So this chick is the Taylor Lorenz of Mountain Broke. So, good for her. Good for her. Anyway, again, I don't really care one way or another. I'm just simply upset, I'm having to do Dale Show today. That's all I'm worried about.
I do have a lot of stuff to get to, but here's what I want to do. I kind of just want to wing it. We'll take your calls. You can, for all I care, you can call in and tell us what you got for Christmas or what you didn't get. Maybe you didn't get what you wanted for Christmas and you need somewhere to air that grievance. You can do it right here on this show.
205-545-995-0. We will get what is not going to be the fastest hour in radio today. It's probably going to be the slowest hour in radio coming out right after this.
All right, news and views. Andrew McLean filling in today. I'll be making an appearance again on what is it? New Year's Eve? Is that when I'm back in the news and views slot? Oh, that'll be like next Tuesday and then again on Thursday. Thursday and Friday. What is it? What does he come back to work? What is going on? He might be back on the 6th from what I'm gathering. Oh, here not. How do you get so many vacation days anyway?
Are they saving them up? Richard and Valerie are doing the same thing in the morning up here. I mean, I don't, I'm taking two days off. I don't, and I didn't save any up. I've worked all year. Anyway, that's neither here nor there. It's the end of the year. And if you don't use them, you lose them. So I probably got like 20 vacation days and I'm going to lose. But I don't trust anybody to do my show. So that's why I don't take vacation.
Uh, so, um, I'm Andrew McLean. If you don't know, hello Montgomery, hello Huntsville and hello my beloved Birmingham. I'm glad to be here. You can find everything you need to know when it comes to Andrew McLean at Andrew McLean who dot com. That's one C in McLean.
Andrew McLean who dot com. We've got all of our stuff for the radio show, the radio show podcast. We've got our separate podcast or video podcast called over the line, which is available on the website or you can go to YouTube, rumble, Spotify, Apple podcast, look up over the line. Andrew McLean, subscribe to that. We put out a brand new podcast.
yesterday. First thing in the morning, it was Merry Christmas from the boys, myself, Tony Gupp and John Bird. We had our own little mini Christmas where we exchanged gifts and it was a lot of fun. I think if I could summarize that podcast for Christmas, John Bird got chocolate, X-lax candy bars. And by the end of the podcast, he ate an entire candy bar. You're only supposed to eat two squares.
So you can imagine how that went, but you'll have to watch that for yourself to find out that starts the new year nice and clean clean down and he's also got IBS so it was just a double wing that'll help I forgot well I wasn't when they got him the x-lax and I forgot he had IBS until he mentioned it He's like you know what that's the perfect gift for somebody with IBS is x-lax
Who knows? Maybe it'll fix whatever you got going on. Like a reset button. Maybe just factory reset and your intestines will work appropriately. Good luck with that. My wife, Taxton, says you should do a talk swap or whatever it's called where people call in with what they got for Christmas that they'd be willing to trade for. A swap shop. Could we do a Christmas swap shop right now?
We could. Yeah. We have 30 minutes. I'm totally down for that. How long has it been since there's been a swap shop on these frequencies? I did. I'm not sure there's ever been one. I've been. I used to do a swap shop back in Aniston at WDNG every Saturday morning. And that was, that's one of the harder radio jobs to do because as everybody comes in, you got to write down the item. You got to write down the phone number who it is.
uh, because people will call back in and be like, I man, two colors ago selling that, uh, John Deere carburator. What was that number? And so you'd have to go and repeat it. And then when you didn't get any calls, you'd have to, you'd just go down your list and read off all the items that people, um, you know,
People gave, my, Trish says, she said, I got a Costco membership and would be willing to trade for a $600 deer head that she's been wanting. It's like a decoration type of thing. Yeah. It looks like a big Yeagermeister statue, but apparently you can hang, you know, ornament zoning or something. She really wants that. And I would have got it for her, but I knew she'd have probably killed me that if I would have bought, if I'd have spent $600 on a deer head,
But instead, and in retrospect, this is really dumb. So for you guys out there on interesting Christmas is over, but take this as advice for next year. I got mine. I got my Costco membership. And I don't want to know that that was the best gift.
to do. Well, the roughest part about that for you is you don't really live all that close to Costco. That's true too. Sam's might have been a better choice. Well, and here's the thing. I think I got bamboozled by her daughter because I was conversing with them and the daughter is like, hey, mom really wants a Costco membership because I was thinking Sam's too. I'm like, it's probably a little closer. She's like, no, she wants Costco. She wants a Costco membership.
And I'll tell the story about that a little later in the show. What a hassle it is to get one of those. And so I'm like, oh, okay. She's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, get that, get that. Well, let's find out on the backside that she really ate down excited about a Costco membership. It is the daughter that was excited about it. And I got bamboozled by her into thinking that, ah, this will be a home run. I got a
You know, I got a kind of Costco membership. We had talked about it in the past. So I just assumed that that was the truth and she actually would like one. So I really failed this Christmas lesson learned for next year. Don't listen to the daughter. Yeah, don't listen to her. Yeah, I really dropped the ball. But if you want to trade a Costco membership, my wife said, bring what you got. We'll see. She's taking off for to trade the Christmas gift. Okay.
Alright, 205 Christmas Swap Shop, let's go. 205-545-9950. What is that Christmas gift that you...
Do not lie. You don't have to tell us your name if you're trying to remain anonymous. We'll just call you whatever. I'll just make up a name for you. But put it out there and we're going to help you swap it up and make sure you can get your Christmas gifts to somebody that would really like it. Because you have something. Chances are you have something that somebody likes.
and you could be doing something, you could be making somebody's Christmas. I did, however, get a drone in Dirty Santa yesterday. Did you know? Yeah, and then I broke it like, you know, 20 minutes later. I'd wasted no time whatsoever. I took it outside and I started flying it and drones are very confusing. And this is not like a big fancy drone. This is like probably a $30 drone. And
I start flying it and it gets up in the air and then it turns around and starts coming directly for me. Oh, and I can't figure out how to make it stop and it hits me right between the legs. I mean, propellers and everything just right in the groin and I go down and I'm like, hey, no way, bro. I never using that again. Every male listening to the show right now just went. Yeah, it was bad. I thought I was going to have to make a
Christmas day emergency room run. But thank goodness we did. I was okay. No, no people were harmed in the flying of that drone. Except for yourself. Except for myself. You can call or you can tax 205-545-950. We'll get you on the other side. 545-995-0. You can do your Christmas swap shop on the text line or on the phone line.
We are taking over news and views and I know Dale probably wants me on here talking about news and views But I honestly I don't know what Dale does on your show, so I'm not gonna try to imitate it I'm just gonna do what I know Best and that is Christmas swap shop. Let's make it happen bottom of the hour
More of this edition of Dale Jackson's news and views coming up right after this.
News of views, Andrew McLean, filling in Andrew McLean who dot com. Andrew McLean who dot com. You'll hook that up. Apparently nobody wants to do Christmas swap shop, so whatever. It's fine. I don't want to do it either. So I ain't losing any sleep over it. Everybody got what they wanted for Christmas except my wife. I'm just kidding. She's fine. She likes it.
And we're actually we're going on a trip this weekend. We're going on a train ride. We've got this thing like our thing is right to train together. And so this is our we're doing like a Christmas train thing in Chattanooga. I don't really know anything about it. Other than I need to figure out how to sneak some booze on the train. That's it. Wouldn't it be all that hard should be to be fun should be a good time. I'm very excited. We're meeting some friends up there as well. So.
I can't wait, that's gonna be good stuff. 205-545-995-0, plenty of stuff to get to. I mean, this is traditionally every year. This is an extremely slow news week, extremely slow. But thanks to the election from last month, we have had, I would say, a decent amount of movement in the headlines over the past, you know, two or three weeks.
And so I'll get into some of that first. Let me get Richard the cop. Richard duck up. What's up, buddy? It's so good to hear you at 10 o'clock. Thanks, buddy. Can we swap Dale Dale for two pounds of government cheese? We may have to because it doesn't sound like he's coming back to work any time soon. Oh, I would be a wonderful thing, man. Give you an extra hour, get John Birdback and swap out Dale's salary for John bird salary. We'll be good, man. I'll talk to him about it.
So did John get to use his egg slacks? And how did you like y'all but your bag full of poo? So I didn't get a bag full of poo, but Jumbard, he did get the axillacs and he ate an entire chocolate bar of axillacs. I'm honest. I don't know what happened on the backside. No pun intended. I didn't really check on him. I was afraid to. Well, it was a good Christmas on the back at work today and tomorrow.
and i'll shout out to my blood steve who's having to help from some work hope that he'll get back soon and all y'all have a good rest of christmas and good news your brother thank you richard the cop there's a buddy and shout out to steve man i hope you feel better buddy we uh... we love you long time so let's talk
Let's talk the Grinch, shall we? Kamala Harris is pretty much the Grinch. Actually, let me not do that. Let me not start on it. Now, let's start with Donald Trump. He put out a Christmas day message and I thought it was absolutely beautiful. It brought a tear to my eye. I'm going to read it to you.
He says, Merry Christmas to all, including to the wonderful soldiers of China, who are lovingly but illegally operating the Panama Canal, where we lost 38,000 people in its building 110 years ago. Always making certain that the United States puts in billions of dollars in repair money, but will have absolutely nothing to say about anything.
Also, to Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada, whose citizens' taxes are far too high, but if Canada was to become our 51st state, their taxes would be cut by more than 60 percent. Their businesses would immediately double in size and they would be military protected like no other country anywhere in the world.
Likewise, to the people of Greenland, which is needed by the United States for national security purposes and who want the US to be there, and we will. Merry Christmas to the radical left lunatics who are constantly trying to obstruct our court system and our elections, and are always going after the great citizens and patriots of the United States, but in particular, their political opponent. Me.
They know that their only chance of survival is getting pardons from a man who has absolutely no idea what he is doing. Also, to the 37 most violent criminals who killed, raped, and plundered, like virtually no one before them. But we're just given, incredibly, a pardon by Sleepy Joe Biden. I refuse to wish a Merry Christmas to those lucky souls, but instead I will say, go to hell.
back down. He said, we had the greatest election in history, the history of our country. A bright light is now shining over the USA and in 26 days, we will make America great again. Merry Christmas. What a Christmas message.
I love that. That's actually really good. And nobody puts out a Christmas message. Have you ever seen a better Christmas message? Nobody does Christmas messages like Donald Trump. But on the other hand, Kamala Harris, who is absolutely the Grinch of Christmas, failed presidential nominee, professional alcoholic, word salad, extraordinary Kamala Harris.
she puts out a christmas message for democrat staffers uh... in this message raise some eyebrows it's uh... especially given the shaking ground that the d and c and the hairs campaign are currently on uh... here's tomorrow here's in the d and c are under scrutiny when following a costly and losing presidential bid numerous staffers
where unceremoniously let go just a couple of months before Christmas. Everybody just got canned. It created a situation where the DNC union basically had to beg for money to help stabilize some of the recently fired staffers shortly after the November 5th election.
They said, quote, this is from the DNC Union. Quote, we are heartbroken to see our colleagues who dedicated countless hours to electing Democrats up and down the ballot depart under these circumstances. And we are furious with DNC leadership for failing to provide severance to those affected. That was on their GoFundMe page, which as of December 16th, their page had raised the $25,000 that they were aiming for. But given that,
less than enthused to go fund me page, you would assume that Kamala Harris would keep her Christmas remarks thoughtful when it came to the mass number of laid off Americans in the aftermath of her presidential bid. But you would assume wrong because here's what she said. This holiday season, like any time of the year, let us really be conscious of all the blessings we have
Let us celebrate the blessings we have. Let us celebrate and advance the blessings we have yet to create. And let us always remember our country is worth fighting for and our spirit will not be defeated.
Never mind that the left of spirit was literally defeated and repudiated on November 5th, but you know, that's neither here nor there. She apparently tweets like she speaks to. Yeah, she didn't get anybody tweeting for her cause. Yeah, that was pretty bad. Oh, there's more. There's more to her quote. Hold on. She says quote, and hear me when I say this.
that the spirit, that spirit that fuels the countless hours and days and months of work that you have put into this? That spirit, it can never be defeated. Our spirit is not defeated. We are not defeated. Actually, you are defeated. Yeah, you were pretty roundly defeated. Apparently she just got done watching her Christmas Carol because I'm catching blessings and spirits. Yeah, she got that somewhere. Or she was looking at her liquor cabinet. Yeah, it was probably the latter. Now she,
she's speaking keep in mind she's speaking to DNC staffers that have been canned with no severance pay right before the holidays now don't get me wrong I don't feel bad for them they were trying to help elect a person that would have destroyed our country in a matter of six months but
For her to talk to those people that weren't so hard for her to be like, don't worry. Don't worry that you're going to lose your home and your car and you can't do Christmas for your kids. Your spirit will never be defeated. It will never be defeated. Time and past, any time. What's up? Nick, we're the man. Hey, brother. You know, I don't agree along with stuff of Dale Jackson, what he says sometimes.
But as far as a school choice thing, I agree with him and that chick needs to blow away. Go away, chick. You're making too much at enough. It's people's rights to do whatever they want to with their kid. Have you ever watched her on social media? Have you been keeping up? No, I'm not. I haven't been keeping up, but I know he's been talking about it and everything. I hear his stuff. And I know the thing I can't stand if he and I agree.
Randall Woodson is a worse man in history here in Alabama. Yeah, he's pretty bad. He's in that POS meeting. Well, we've had a lot of bad mayors in Birmingham and for Randall Woodson to be towards the top of that list is a pretty, pretty big statement. He gets where he came from. And I'm afraid, I'm ashamed to say, but it's not my school. He came from Chase Valley over there on the Hill, which is supposed to be an academic school. The brother when we were in school,
Shades Valley was king of the mountain on over over on the mountain. When we played football, we were in the playoffs every stinking year to at least a third round. And now since Iron Dale is taking that school, they had to change uniforms in the rafters. They didn't even have a locker room. But that's what that's what got him in stinking school. It's so cool. Randall Wood from Winter Shades Valley. Is that what you're saying? Yeah. Yeah, I bet you didn't play football. Oh, no. No, he went last 10 minutes on the field with me.
He's probably he's probably a cheerleader. Probably. Yeah. So let me let me just go back to the Dale Jackson thing because I am fascinated by this show. It was it was a school choice argument like Dale Jackson's I assume he's pro school choice and this check is pro public school which has obviously not worked for decades and decades now. Right.
Okay. Yeah, as far as these mayors go, man, as far as not helping Trump, get out of the way. Do you not think that the community is ready for these efforts to get out of there? You know they are. Well, they're going to get out of there. They're going to end up getting out of the way, whether they like it or not. As Tom Holman explained, they're going to just, if mayors are going to try to stand in the way, they're not going to stop them. It's just Tom Holman and the federal government or ICE agents
They're going to have to put more agents on the ground there to end people up. A big part of that argument is the illegals that are in custody, that are in jail. In the publicly funded, taxpayer funded jail, ICE is saying, let us grab these guys out of your jail and we're going to send them back home. And so some of these cities are like, no, we're not going to let you do that.
So what does the city end up doing? They end up releasing them to the street. That then puts ICE agents in a situation where they have to, instead of in a controlled environment of a jail, they have to confront these guys on the streets with not only weapons, but whatever else they've got with them or however many people they've got with them that creates a much more dangerous situation for not just the migrants, not just the officers, but innocent bystanders.
What about Canada National Guard, help them out too? Yeah, I don't know. I assume they can in a sense. I don't know what their parameters would be. But the Trump administration will use every tool to accomplish this because this has been one of the biggest times.
Yeah. I'm out till Tuesday. I think we got my buddy Brady McLaughlin tomorrow. And I love Brady, so he'll take care of y'all.
I mean, I start my new job, my nail. That's the zone, dude. I could take it no more. Did you? What happened? Did you just, you got fed up with it? You later, man. You don't want that letter to you. I have to tell you later, bro. I mean, that's where you almost got into it. I got you. I got you. All right, buddy. Say it, Tom. Almost got him to say it. Almost got him to tell us where you quit. Because that's what I do. I just, you know, just put your business out there.
205-545-9950. Let me hit this break. News and views. Andrew McLean filling in for Dale Jackson. Hang tight. You're listening to News and Views with Dale Jackson.
Wait, what are we supposed to do at this part of the show? Ten with him? They'll usually do a ten with him, but if you don't have ten questions, don't worry about it. Alright, let's give it a shot. Let's do ten without him. It's time to answer the deep questions. It's ten with him on news and news. Oh, wow. I didn't know we had music and everything with it. I got the whole thing, man. What is that?
I actually don't have any questions because I didn't put it out there. I just thought of it. I'm like, what am I supposed to do this last segment? Let me ask you a question, Steve. What is your favorite Christmas and or Thanksgiving food dish?
What is the one thing this Christmas that you were like, we got to have this in the spread? Well, again, my wife and I, we usually do the Christmas story, Christmas meal. We go out and have Chinese. So usually it's buffet. So it's not really, you know. So what's your favorite Chinese? Yeah, really. Chinese option. I think it's a place that we go. I love sesame chicken. They do a good pineapple chicken, too. Well, that sounds good. It's really good stuff.
So yeah, I would probably go that way. I hadn't I hadn't been to a Chinese buffet in a long time crack says how was your Christmas my Christmas was good Thank you very much. I am reaching that age where you get like
A lot of tools and stuff for Christmas, you know? Which is good, because we can always use extra tools, because throughout the 12 months leading up to Christmas, you lose crap all the time. So you get replacements, you know, you get the body wash, you get, I mean, for me, hair products, you don't need that. I don't need that. Dale Jackson doesn't need that. Different things of this nature, but it was a good Christmas all and all. Everybody,
and my family had a good Christmas, so there's that. Boomer says, how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if woodchuck could chuck wood? How big is the woodchuck? Yeah, how big is the woodchuck and how many trees is he chucking? Let me ask Google how much
would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood around 700 pounds Google says no well according to a study by a new york state wildlife expert a wood chuck could chuck around 700 pounds of wood if it could chuck wood based on the amount of dirt they typically move when digging their burrows
This is considered the most widely accepted answer to the classic tongue twister, how much wood could a wood chuck? Interesting, and I wonder how much the government spent on that particular study. Very millions of dollars. Mark says, what is Trish's next home improvement project for you Andrew? Good question. I think she wants to completely move the laundry room.
She actually, I think she wants to put the washer and dryer in the garage. But that was before we got a new washer. Our old washer sounded like an airplane taking off. The new one's pretty quiet. So I don't know if she still wants to do that project or not. Are there hookups out there? I don't think so. I don't think so. I don't think it's a major project. I think it's a major, major.
Project he sent a traffic update so I guess the 10 without him question would be hey Andrew, how's the traffic?
Well, traffic update, 65 southbound after exit, $238,00 bastard, sack it on, exit major slowdowns coming to a crawl. So those of you that are south of Birmingham, be on the lookout for that. I'm not. Is everybody getting out of town after Christmas, I guess? Yeah, they're getting away from family. Because that's a bottleneck where you're going down for four lanes down to two. Yeah, guys, that's not the worst stretch. One of these years, maybe they'll get that fixed.
and it's always bad going south towards Montgomery absolutely it's usually not that bad coming north back towards Birmingham
turning that into four lanes and they can't pull it off or at least three landing it. Yeah. Why can't they do it? Like, what's the hold up? What are we paying a freaking gas tax for? Well, and I've got the same argument because if you think about it, the trek from Birmingham to Montgomery specifically is loaded down now. But if you think about it, go I-20 from here to just the Georgia state line. You got that area that goes by Talladega Super Speedway.
and Lincoln and all that, and they drop down to two lanes because that bridge over there is the holdup. It is scheduled for replacement, but nobody knows when we're going to actually replace it. When we do, then we might finally be able to go three lanes all the way out to Aniston. Not to mention, the longer Randall Woodfin is the mayor of Birmingham, the more traffic there's going to be going south.
because people don't want to be in Birmingham. Yeah, they're fleeing to the suburbs and they're fleeing to other cities in the state. Because it's so dangerous. Well, they talk about, and Donald Trump has mentioned this, others have mentioned it, moving the FBI headquarters to Huntsville, which I'm not opposed to. I think that would be a good idea. But maybe we need to put the FBI headquarters in Birmingham. We could use the extra protection.
Just a thought. That's an idea. But Randall Woodfin's gonna be so woke. He's not gonna want the FBI. We don't need more police in Birmingham.
Whatever. Anyway, this has been your post Christmas edition of news and views with Andrew McLean. I'll be doing it again, coming up next Tuesday, New Year's Eve, and we'll do it again a couple days after that. Stick around. More stuff coming up for those of you on Talk29.5, the line with yours truly coming up next. And for those of you in Montgomery and Huntsville, I have no idea what's next.
