It's time for news and views with your host, Dale Jackson. It's Thursday, January 30th, 2025. And you know what that means? We've got to continue following the fallout, the meltdowns that we are seeing from our friends in the media over almost every single thing Donald Trump does and even some things.
The takeaway that I have received from some pilots, they think the helicopter operator made an air of some kind. It does not make the seven things. Not that it's not one of the seven things you should be talking about today, but it is a breaking news story that will be continued to be covered throughout the day, the evening and the next couple of weeks. No question about that, but the airplane in regular operation, the helicopter in a training situation, and they say it's most likely there was some sort of error there by the pilot.
terrible situation there. And then obviously we'll stay on top of on all of these radio stations across this network. But we got to get into the seven things you should be talking about today. It is time for the often duplicated never replicated the most critically acclaimed segment here on news and views brought to you by Alabama's most trusted journalist. It's the seven things you should be talking about today. The seven things you should be talking about today. Number seven.
Costco is bucking the trend of companies dumping diversity, equity and inclusion programs and the Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall is not psyched about that and Marshall and 18 other attorneys generals have sent a letter to Costco demanding.
that they abandoned its DEI policies, calling them unlawful and detrimental to the American ideal of individualism. And you know, look, DEI promotes discrimination. It is really the idea that discrimination can be solved by more discrimination, and really the people who push DEI
And we'll say that now I think they're they're trying sorry not to say that because of how bad it sounds But that is what they've been saying and yeah, that's should be illegal You should be able to discriminate against someone and because of their race regardless of what their race is Costco has said hey, we're gonna continue doing this so good luck guys good luck
Number six. President Donald Trump has signed his first piece of legislation, the Lacon Riley Act, sponsored by Alabama United States Senator Katie Britt, a Republican out of Montgomery, which requires ICE to detain undocumented immigrants guilty of theft, burglary, or violent crimes, while also granting states the ability to take legal action against federal officials who neglect immigration enforcement, which I love, by the way.
And the law named after a Georgia woman murdered by an undocumented immigrant was praised as a bipartisan effort to enhance public safety and prevent future tragedy. And then there was this on the immigration front, which I
love. Additionally, Defense Secretary Pete Hanks has revealed the Biden administration's previous migrant policies are being reversed with Guantanamo Bay set to house over 30,000 criminal migrants temporarily as they await repatriation to their home countries. Get ready to see a lot of pictures out of Abu Ghraib and things like that. Get ready for it. Number five.
The wokeness of the U.S. military is undoubtedly under attack and U.S. Representative Mike Rogers, a Republican of Sachs, hailed President Trump's executive actions eliminating DEI programs and restricting service for individuals with gender dysphoria.
By the way, those people are non-deployable. They're not taking and putting rifles in their hands and sticking them in foxholes and being like, don't remember, remember, when you're done holding the line here, make sure you dilate your man-made vagina and don't get it, you know, you gotta take care of it. And if you think I'm joking, that's a thing!
Anyway, stating these changes will refocus the military on national defense, which is exactly what they should be doing. Trump's orders emphasize merit-based advancement, troop cohesion, and eliminating policies seen as politically motivated and distractions, which would be nice. Rogers and other Alabama Republican lawmakers argue that these moves restore the military's true mission, lethality, which is exactly correct. Number four.
Well, gambling is expected to be an issue, this legislative session. The Alabama policy institute is pushing back with their betting hurts. Bama.com website where they argue against gambling expansion in Alabama, citing risks to free markets, government overreach, and family well beat.
My co-host said to be, well, you're against gambling. And I was like, am I? And she's like, you sound like it. And I'm like, do I? Because I think I made it clear that I'm a degenerate that loves gambling. I just don't love the way Alabama is doing gambling. I could see myself supporting gambling in this state. It's just got to be done right. Number three.
The left domination of public schools and radical and gender sex race curriculum is the target of multiple Donald Trump executive orders. The new president offered up these orders targeting curricula.
which dominates and indoctrinates students with anti-American ideology. His orders direct from the Department of Education to provide guidance on how states can use federal funds for alternatives like private and religious schools, as well as allow military and Native American families more flexibility in school selection.
This is the point, as always, the critics argue that these moves threaten public education, because they're doing such a great job that they should have a monopoly and they should be given more money. If you only gave them enough money, they could focus more on race and transient your six-year-old. But for some reason, you want that money to go to a church to educate your children. This is the argument they're making, and it's bad. Number two.
Immigration enforcement is real. Which is why you're hearing people complain about the lack of blueberries in their smoothies. And it's happening here in the great state of Alabama with Governor K. Ivey offered her full support. Ice agents are reportedly making arrests across the state and this is making people feel unsafe. Well, I'll tell you, I don't feel unsafe.
I don't know, that's you. I'm fine. The media is scaremongering by saying they're doing this without warrants, which implies you have to get a warrant to arrest someone who's breaking the law, I don't understand that. This disinformation has made people concerned about schools, something people believe are off limits, and there are even educators telling parents to keep their kids at home, where they're going to be snatched up and deported.
They're being placed on leave because they're stupid. They should be fired. The superintendent of the state says the schools don't need to worry about this, but if law enforcement shows up, you gotta let them in, which is true, true. And now time for the number one thing you should be talking about today.
The Trump administration sent an email to 3 million federal employees encouraging them to take a deferred resignation. This is not news. We knew this story yesterday. They can also risk layoffs, which I think is a baseless threat personally. I think that they're just wanting a lot of people to say, OK, we'll go ahead. We'll resign because I don't want to go back to remote work. That's the whole story in a nutshell.
A lot of people don't want to go back to remote work, and Trump said, okay, work remotely for the next couple of months, and then you can go away. Which I think is a rather magnanimous of an employer. I really do. I think it's pretty magnanimous. Now, you only have a couple days to figure this out, so tick, tick, tick, my friends in the federal government. But I think that, honestly,
This is something that is completely allowed by law. Does anyone remember when the federal government employees were told you have to get a vaccine to be employed? And they sued and the court said, yeah, yeah, he can do that. That's his workforce. He can do that. Can't do it to contractors, but you can do it to federal government employees. Remember when people were defending that and pretending that that was a great thing, that he had that much power over the workforce, and by the way, he was right. Remember that? He was correct on that.
J. Town and I both talked about that on this program. He a former US attorney, nor the District of Alabama, neither of us liked it. But the argument was those are his employees. He's the head of the executive branch. He can do that. Well, this is the exact same thing. OK, this is the exact same thing. He can tell his employees you have to work from the office. And if you don't, that's in some more nation and your ass is fired. Instead, what he's doing is magnetiously offering them months of pay and saying that we'll let you try to figure your life out.
Uh, well, you work from home, but then you gots to go. This offer excludes postal employees, military personnel, and immigration and national security positions. Damn it. Damn it. Go back to work, Cindy. Just go back to work. Uh, unions and advocates warned that this threatens government stability and essential services. They don't have to take the buyouts.
Some fear losing pensions and job security. Don't take the buyout. There you go, I solved your issue. Others say the email has been, has strengthened their resolve to stay. I'm gonna go to work and do my job. Oh damn, you're showing him. What? Let me get this straight. He sent you an email saying, hey, you gotta go back to work or you're fired and you said, oh yeah? Oh yeah? Well, then I'm gonna go back to work.
You crafty sons of bitches. You got him. You got that Donald Trump guy. He told you to go back to work. And then you did that. That was a real show of strength you guys did right there. And lawmaker Tim Kane is costing workers not to trust Trump's severance promises. Then don't take it. See how simple this is? I've solved your issue for you. You moron. However, if you think it sounds like a good idea, you should take it.
you should absolutely take it and you should leave the federal government because you're morons. You see how that works? Okay. Good. Good. All right. We got a lot to get into. We will continue getting your thoughts on all of these issues, including the plane crash that we saw in DC with the helicopter. A little bit of a breaking opinion here. I want to say breaking news. The message I'm hearing from some pilots is they all think
that the helicopter pilot will eventually be seen as that fault. He was in a training situation. The airplane was doing what the airplane normally does from that area and the helicopter apparently made some mistake. That seems to be the consensus that I've received from my sources, but again, we'll continue to follow this story that you can weigh in right here right now. It is always very simple for you guys to do so.
205-545-9950. Get your thoughts in for 10 with him as well. We will get your questions in at the end of this program. There's a lot to get into and a lot happening. The Trump administration is really hitting the ground running. You got this breaking news story. You've got people in Alabama, the teachers. Yeah, they want to get fired and we're going to try to help them. Stay tuned right here on the fastest hour of radio anywhere on your radio dial.
You're listening to News and News with Dale Jackson. It is the fastest hour of radio anywhere on your radio dial. Yes, it is news and views. I'm Dale Jackson. Thank you very much for joining us here, whether you are watching online on any of our very streaming
sites or or or if you're listening to a radio station. So I'm at five in Birmingham. News radio 1449 Montgomery WVNN in Huntsville. Thank you very much for being here. Donald Trump is now speaking before the nation about this accident. I don't know how much information he's going to have about this at this point.
In moments like this, the differences between Americans fade to nothing compared to the bonds of affection and loyalty that unite us all, both as Americans and even as nations. We are one family, and today we are all heartbroken. We're all searching for answers that
may have been doing something that was not within code or he was just in the wrong place at the long, long time. We don't know. All the pilots I've spoken to, I have heard from, I have heard from secondhand, all of those things.
every single person, uh, tells me the same thing. It is more likely than not that the helicopter pilot who was in training had that helicopter in the wrong place, uh, from where it needed to be. That was it. And then that's it. Now there's not, that's not malfeasance or anything like that. It's a mistake.
And these things happen in training exercises. That's why they do training exercises. They're dangerous. There's dangerous is taken helicopter up at any time. And in this particular case, a commercial airliner, that highlights the problem here or highlights the danger of what we do in the air. But we have to remember this. Commercial airline traffic is wildly safe.
I was looking at the statistics and the other or earlier today and the statistics are very clear. The USA today did a study not too long ago where they talked about being in a commercial airliner and how safe it is and how little there is actual risk to have harm become or to fall upon you in these situations.
Whether it's birds or lightning strikes or whatever it is incredibly safe and the numbers were something along these lines point five Air deaths out of every million people who get in the air that that's in the United States in Europe in Africa. It's 11
for every million people that get in the air. For South America, it's like 2.5 for every million that get in the air. The number of accidents in this country that were of air related to commercial air travel, I believe last year, there was one in 2023. There were zero. A lot of the issues or maybe it was the other way around zero in 2024 one in 2023.
And the number of people that lost their lives and that one I think was in the 70s as well. This rarely happens when it does happen and obviously is a tragedy. But I think people want to know that it's safe to get in the air. Do we want to know what happened and whose fault it is? I don't know. I mean, yes, obviously. But what are we looking for here?
Well, my text messages and, and, and direct message on social media lead me to believe that there's a lot of people out there that think that there's something behind this other than a horrible accident. I think that's just our cynical nature. I think it's terrible to live that way and think that way, but a lot of people do. Sometimes this is just what it is. And that's why you have to have one of these investigations. You have to have an investigation that people are going to trust and figure out what it is.
So you had to figure out who's on these, who's in these airplanes and what not and what happened exactly and where the problem lies. So the problem could lie in the trainee helicopter pilot, which seems, if you're looking at the situation from any angle, this seems to be the most easy way to look at it.
Now, there's some talk about the air traffic controllers. There's been a lot of talk on social media about how, well, maybe Donald Trump's funding freeze had something to do. It had nothing to do with it. If you're out there talking about the funding freeze, having anything to do with this, you're not just a bad pundit. You're a bad person. Okay. But there are people like that out there. They're going to try to push that. It's unfortunate.
but it is a way our world works. So the country isn't mourning, obviously, over the loss of all these people. That is very sad. They're going to have to figure out what happened here. They're going to have to do a open investigation and tell people exactly what went down. Trump says we will restore faith in American air travel. I think the faith in American air travel is there. I wouldn't have any problem getting on a plane with my kid today. I wouldn't have a problem with that. So I don't think that's really an issue, but
You gotta find out what happened here. You gotta be honest and open about it. And that's how you get where people will trust you. We got a lot to get into. It's the fastest hour of radio anywhere on your radio dial. Stay tuned.
It is the fastest hour of radio anywhere on your radio dial. Yeah, we talked a little conspiracy theory here. A lot of people think this crash is still not out of the crisis. A lot of people. Some people thinking this crash is deliberate. The crash was not deliberate, but here's a real conspiracy theory. I never get to 10 questions in 10 minutes. That's a real conspiracy. We got Tory here with us. We got to get to 10 with him. Let's do it. 205-545-9950. Let's get to 10 with him.
It's time to answer the deep questions. It's 10 on news and news. All right, like I said, 10 questions in about 10 minutes. Tori has them for you, Tori. Take it away. All right. Dale, how's Grant's basketball team doing? Have you gotten any technical fouls yet?
I'm not gonna eat technical fouls. I was very upset with last week's game Grant got mad at me because I cussed at him twice and I benched him Not because he had done anything wrong, but because he was playing too long in the game and he got mad at me there So it's a no-win situation. He told on me. I got in trouble. So Cindy gave me a technical foul. So there's that
Should we stop allowing military training flights that put them in conflict with their commercial flight operations? Is there training a higher priority than passenger safety? God see this is a hard thing. You've got to put them in situations where they're going to be in in the future. That is with commercial flights
So it's hard to do like a blanket. No, we're not going to do this. Maybe some more safety precautions need to be taken. I guess that's what will come out of all this. I think this is an accident. I'm sure these flights take these train flights take place all the time. But if you're flying a helicopter around DC, there's commercial traffic there. I mean, if you've ever been to DC, there's helicopters all over the place. The Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, these guys have their own helicopters.
so they're everywhere and yeah they just got to figure out exactly what happened here and then work to prevent that how okay this little listener question don't text about their own questions but yeah it's good that you give a caveat on this one
How much do you think government issued dilators for trans troops with man-made zombie vaginas are costing the American taxpayers annually? Okay, so maybe need a little bit of context here. This is a question that stems from the seven things you should be talking about today. I was talking about how they're trying to make the military more lethal. And one of the ways they're doing that is by getting rid of transgender individuals in service. And one of the reasons I think that that is important is because those people are non-deployable.
They cannot go to the field. And because of the reason I just laid out, male to female transgenders are non-deployable. Plus there's a mental issue as well that goes along with this. So to answer your question, how much do you think the government issued dilators cost? I have absolutely no idea, but if it's more than $1, it's too many. Next question.
Why doesn't the view shut their holes? I don't feel like I did that aggressively enough. Hold on. Why doesn't the view shut their holes? That's a good way to put it. I don't know and I'm guessing money would be the reason they don't shut their holes because I think that they are making a pretty good amount of money with that show even though it is completely insane and the people on there are complete morons but
You know, free speech is what it is, and if people will watch it, they can sell ads on it, then it should be allowed on, and we should be allowed to criticize it. Last question, Tori. This is from earlier, but why is it if a white person has a black face, it will ruin their career, but yet MTV is still running the movie White Chicks, which is about two black guys in white faces, lower. Okay.
because there's a long history of blackface that is incredibly terrible and white chicks is a very funny movie. Now that is the correct answer. If you have not seen white chicks, don't go into this being offended. Go watch the movie, it's actually just, it's a very funny 2000's.
Comedy go watch it. It's good. Yes. Okay. Oh, how come they can do it because they can that's the correct answer I'll see you guys tomorrow Tori. Thank you very much Steve. Thank you very much. See ya

Hey there, I'm Paula Pan, host of the Afford Anything podcast. Remember, you can afford anything, just not everything. What? Yeah, it's true. I had some classmates who were struggling with FIFO and LIFO. They called it F my LIFO. But investing is so much simpler. Industries get paid to make you think that it's complicated. They want you to think they're a wizard. You're not Harry Potter. You're a muggle.
Muggles are great too. No one here is anti-muggle.
