This is the time's evening briefing on Thursday the 2nd of January. The FBI says the New Orleans attack was an act of terror describing what happened as evil. 15 people were killed when a truck carrying an ISIS flag rammed into crowds celebrating the new year. The attacker, a former soldier from Texas, was shot dead by police.

Hours later, a driver died when a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside a hotel in Las Vegas. The FBI's deputy assistant director Christopher Rayer is from the agency's counter-intelligence division. We are following up on all potential leads and not ruling everything out. However, at this point, there is no definitive link between the attack here in New Orleans.

The plan in New Orleans, he traveled from Texas to do so. So obviously New Orleans was a target for him for whatever reason. The Met Office is warning that up to 30 centimeters of snow could fall on parts of England and Wales over the weekend. Several yellow warnings have been issued. The Midlands, Wales and Northern England are expected to be the worst affected areas. Meteorologist John Hammond told us this weather system will move up across the central and southern half of the UK.

There's that system moves further northwards into the colder air, which will be entrenched across the likes of Wales, the Midlands and Northern England. I think there will be some significant snowfall. So we're talking about late Saturday and into Sunday. Question mark as to how far north that gets into Northern Ireland and Scotland. But there's every chance that we will see heavy snowfall across many central and northern areas later on this weekend.

Researchers have discovered nearly 200 dinosaur footprints dating back 166 million years, buried under mud in an Oxfordshire quarry. The universities of Oxford and Birmingham co-led a team of more than 100 people on a week-long excavation last summer. Four of the tracks were made by long-necked dinosaurs called sauropods. Dr Emma Nichols co-led the excavation and told Times Radio about the fifth trackway.

So the other prints were made by a completely different kind of dinosaur, a predator, a carnivore, the largest known predatory dinosaur in Britain, in the middle Jurassic. And that's called Megalosaurus. And that's really exciting because Megalosaurus is really special. It was the first dinosaur ever named anywhere in the world. And it was named in 1824.
