Ep 874 | The Truth & Beauty of Transgenderism | Guest: Kyle Mann

    enSeptember 18, 2023

    Podcast Summary

    • Exploring the Evolution of Gender ConceptsThe Babylon Bee's new book satirically challenges traditional gender definitions and invents new ones, aiming to entertain and provoke thought on the evolving understanding of gender.

According to Kyle Mann, editor in chief of The Babylon Bee, gender is a concept that can be defined as whatever one wants it to be, as there are no fixed definitions. The Babylon Bee's new book, The Babylon Bee Guide to Gender, explores various identities and even invents new ones. Mann acknowledges that traditionally, there have been male and female genders, but the book satirically debunks these concepts as outdated and offensive. The book aims to entertain and provoke thought on the evolving understanding of gender. However, it's important to note that the conversation contains satire and humor, and the views expressed are not meant to be taken literally.

    • Understanding Gender as a Personal, Fluid ExperienceFeelings and personal experiences are more relevant to understanding gender than objective reality. California is leading the way in recognizing gender as a continuous process of self-discovery.

Progress and advancement in society are seen as inherently good, and physical reality, including biology and facts, should not be the focus when discussing gender identity. The speaker believes that feelings and personal experiences are more relevant to understanding gender. They also express concern about the teaching of objective reality in certain political contexts and express gratitude for places like California, which they view as leading the way in understanding gender as a personal, fluid experience. The speaker also promotes Carly Jean Los Angeles, a clothing brand that offers simple and versatile clothing for all stages of life. They emphasize the importance of personal growth and self-discovery in the context of gender identity, and view it as a continuous process rather than a destination.

    • Emphasizing Individual Identity and DiscoveryCreating an inclusive environment fosters personal growth and respects individual gender identities. Early education and open conversations help shape understanding and acceptance.

Creating an environment of discovery and respect for individual identity, whether it's gender or otherwise, is essential for personal growth and relationships. The speaker emphasized the importance of not being easily defined by others and the significance of making people feel uncomfortable for one's own affirmation. The discussion also touched upon the challenges of raising children with fluid gender identities and the role of media and entertainment in shaping their perspectives. The speaker suggested starting the process of understanding one's gender identity early, but not too early, and using educational content to help them learn about different identities and experiences. Overall, the conversation highlighted the importance of empathy, open-mindedness, and creating an inclusive environment for personal growth and development.

    • Balancing education and entertainment with kidsFind creative ways to engage kids in meaningful conversations through entertainment, while consistently challenging traditional norms and values.

Effective communication, especially with children, requires a balance between entertainment and education. The speaker shares her experience with using Naturally It's Clean products and appreciates their effectiveness and safer ingredients. She also expresses her frustration with trying to instill political messages in her kids, who prefer being entertained. The speaker suggests using a consistent approach to challenge traditional norms and values, but acknowledges the challenge of doing so as a parent with opposing views. Ultimately, the key takeaway is the importance of finding creative ways to engage children in meaningful conversations while keeping their attention through entertainment.

    • Challenging gender norms in relationshipsExpress individuality, resist societal expectations, and create inclusive spaces for all genders in relationships.

Challenging traditional gender roles and norms can be a way for couples to express their unique identity and push against societal expectations. The speaker shares their experience of subverting gender norms in their own relationship, such as allowing their wife to mow the lawn while they sit on the couch, as a way to resist the patriarchy and show their feminist beliefs. They also discuss the importance of providing inclusive and specific dating advice for individuals who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community and other unspecified genders, as many resources can be heteronormative and exclusionary. The speaker emphasizes the importance of recognizing and affirming individuals' identities and providing them with the tools they need to navigate relationships and attract partners. Overall, the conversation highlights the importance of individual expression, challenging societal norms, and creating inclusive spaces for all genders.

    • Exploring Sexual Identity with Random MethodsSelf-definition and self-affirmation are crucial, but disregarding others' feelings and cutting toxic relationships can be harmful.

Self-definition and self-affirmation are the most important aspects of one's identity, even if it means disregarding the feelings and opinions of others. The speaker advocates for a book that helps individuals identify their sexual orientation using random methods, such as a coin toss or a dartboard, emphasizing that it's all about the individual's feelings and desires. The speaker also suggests that those who disagree or express hurt feelings are toxic or possibly narcissistic and should be cut out of one's life, even if it means being alone. This perspective, while promoting self-affirmation, can be damaging to relationships and disregards the importance of empathy and respect for others.

    • External circumstances and people can contribute to negative experiencesFocus on finding affirmation and support from like-minded communities, practice self-love, and live authentically, as exemplified by Lizzo, and discover and support businesses that align with personal values through the Public Square app.

It's important to recognize that external circumstances and people, rather than ourselves, can contribute to negative experiences in our lives. The speaker encourages listeners to understand that they are not the problem and that they should focus on finding affirmation and support from like-minded communities and individuals. Another takeaway is the importance of self-love and living authentically, as exemplified by Lizzo, despite potential criticism and jealousy from others. Additionally, the Public Square app was mentioned as a valuable resource for discovering and supporting businesses that align with personal values, as an alternative to progressive companies.

    • Embracing diversity in children's literature and story hoursDrag queen story hours promote literacy, gender education, and self-expression through diverse identities and language progress

The acceptance and inclusion of drag queens in children's literature and story hours is a positive development for literacy and gender education. The speaker argues that these events provide an important platform for children to learn how to read and understand diverse identities. They also criticize those who oppose drag queen story hours, suggesting that such opposition stems from a dislike of reading and learning. Additionally, the speaker introduces the concept of neo-pronouns, which are used to express one's identity and feelings, and argues that they represent progress in language and self-expression. Overall, the speaker emphasizes the importance of embracing diversity and inclusion in education and literature.

    • Respecting identities and preparing for emergenciesBeep emphasized identity respect and preparedness, including having an emergency medical kit and support for wing dysphoria.

Respecting others' identities and preparing for emergencies are important aspects of life. Beep, in the video, expressed confidence in their identity and asked for respect, which is a fundamental right. However, using "beep boop" pronouns could be misconstrued due to their association with a controversial figure. Regarding preparedness, having an emergency medical supply kit is a practical step to ensure access to necessary medications during unexpected situations. This peace of mind is essential, especially for families. Additionally, for those transitioning, the ability to carry a pregnancy and give birth can be a source of empowerment, even if it's not possible for everyone. Lastly, a Discord server has been created for individuals experiencing wing dysphoria, providing a safe space for discussion and support.

    • Imagining having wings and feeling the sensation of wing dysphoriaWing dysphoria is a unique experience for some individuals, leading to a deep sense of longing and frustration. Recognizing and validating diverse experiences is crucial for creating an accepting and celebrating society.

Wing dysphoria is a unique and deeply felt experience for some individuals, who imagine having wings but don't, leading to frustration and a sense of longing. This feeling can manifest in various ways, including the sensation of having water on one's wings, requiring them to be shaken off. Wing dysphoria is just one aspect of the diverse range of experiences and identities that exist beyond societal norms. It's essential to recognize and validate these experiences, as they can significantly impact individuals' lives. The discussion also touched upon the concept of headmates, which refers to different personas co-existing within an individual's mind. This idea was once considered a medical diagnosis but is now embraced as a beautiful aspect of human diversity. The ultimate goal is to create a society that accepts and celebrates all forms of individuality, allowing people to express their truths freely.

REPLAY | Kat Von D on Becoming a Christian

REPLAY | Kat Von D on Becoming a Christian
Today we’re joined by tattoo artist and entrepreneur Kat Von D to discuss her incredible testimony of coming to faith in Christ and her ongoing faith journey. Kat explains her upbringing and how she initially rebelled against going to church because it was only something she was told to do. We take a look at her rise to fame through the shows "Miami Ink" and "LA Ink" and her interest in spiritual practices that were just methods of putting Band-Aids on a sinking ship. She recalls her journey to sobriety and how her husband helped her readjust her thinking on not just her faith but also some political topics. We discuss her viral baptism video, some of the backlash she’s gotten from both non-Christians and Christians, and how she can actually use certain aspects of her life and style to reach those who may feel ostracized by Christianity or “Christian culture.” Then, what would Kat tell those who have questions about Christianity as she did? --- Relevant Episodes: Ep 170 | Is It OK to Celebrate Halloween? https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep-170-is-it-ok-to-celebrate-halloween/id1359249098?i=1000452267090 Ep 514 | Halloween: Satanic Trick or Harmless Treat? https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep-514-halloween-satanic-trick-or-harmless-treat/id1359249098?i=1000540050585 Ep 697 | Revealing the Real Origins of Halloween | Guests: Jeremiah Roberts & Andrew Soncrant (Cultish) https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep-697-revealing-the-real-origins-of-halloween/id1359249098?i=1000583868843 --- Buy Allie's book, You're Not Enough (& That's Okay): Escaping the Toxic Culture of Self-Love: https://alliebethstuckey.com/book Relatable merchandise – use promo code 'ALLIE10' for a discount: https://shop.blazemedia.com/collections/allie-stuckey Learn more about your ad choices. REPLAY | Is Public School the Best Choice for Christians?

REPLAY | Is Public School the Best Choice for Christians?
Today we're reacting to Jen Wilkin and Jonathan Pennington's debate on public education vs. private education (hosted by the Gospel Coalition). We present this argument with its full context but break down some of what Jen Wilkin, who represents the pro-public-school side, says specifically. In response to Wilkin's claim that woke curriculum can be a fear-mongering tactic, we take a look at what's happening in schools even in red states. Wilkin also mentions that our decision on where to send our kids to school impacts our communities, but is that a fair argument for public schools, and does that put our own children at risk for the "good of community"? We cover other school choice considerations such as finances and at-home discipleship, then look at Wilkin's response on Twitter to some of the backlash against her position. Lastly, we look at the perspective of a show favorite, Voddie Baucham, who offers words of caution about sending children to public school. --- Links: The Gospel Coalition: "Should Christian Parents Send Their Children to Public Schools?" https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/video/good-faith-debates-public-schools/ The Dallas Express: "Parent Confronts Richardson ISD Over Sexual Content in Jr High Reading" https://dallasexpress.com/education/parent-confronts-richardson-isd-over-sexual-content-in-jr-high-reading/ Exodus Mandate: “Top Five Reasons NOT to Send Your Kids Back to Public School” https://exodusmandate.org/public-schools/top-five-reasons-not-to-send-your-kids-back-to-public-school --- Relevant Episodes: Ep 495 | The Truth About ‘Social Emotional Learning’ & What Your Kids Are Reading | Guest: Sherry Clemens https://apple.co/3ZojXCD Ep 279 | The Corruption of Public Education & the Need for School Choice | Guest: Corey A. Ep 1025 | Chrissy Teigen Cries Tears of Joy Over Abortion
Today, we discuss Chrissy Teigen and Kamala Harris' recent comments on abortion. A few years ago, Teigen announced she had a miscarriage. After the reversal of Roe vs. Wade, she announced this miscarriage was actually an abortion, causing confusion. The Biden/Harris campaign also recently put out an ad that features a woman who claims she was denied miscarriage treatment due to the Dobbs decision. Is this true? What is the difference between a miscarriage and an abortion, and why do abortion activists often conflate the two? And what actually happens during an abortion? Kendra Little Is Becoming More: Broadening The Gender Identity Conversation

Kendra Little Is Becoming More: Broadening The Gender Identity Conversation
Growing up in the late 1970's there was no conversation around gender identity. You were either male or female. Period, end of discussion. Times have changed. The way we currently think about gender has evolved. Each day brings greater mainstream awareness to its non-binary nature -- and the innate fluidity of gender roles and identity. Take a moment to imagine the experience of being intersex -- a condition in which an individual is born with genetic variations on conventional sex characteristics. Now imagine trying to navigate the world from this non-binary biological disposition. This is the story of Kendra Little. Raised as a girl, at age 12 Kendra learned that she was born with something called androgen insensitivity syndrome, a variation of intersex that affects between 2 to 5 out of 100,000 people. The news prompted Kendra to isolate. Adopting a hormone protocol on the advice of her doctors, she remained a ‘girl’, proceeded to never discuss her condition with anybody and dove headlong into sports -- a place where she excelled and felt at home. But eventually the emotional dissonance between her true self and that which she held out to the world became too much to bear, prompting her to walk away from a promising career as a professional golfer. But that disconnect ultimately catalyzed an amazing journey of self-discovery -- and eventually wholeness. Now able to fully embrace her own unique identity (very recently I might add), Kendra is publicly sharing her story -- with both courage and pride. The intention isn't self-serving, but motivated by a genuine desire to change the way we think about non-binary gender constructs. To bring comfort to those ashamed of how they were born. And to openly permit sharing the many forms of loneliness, pain and shame so many of us keep hidden. This past July, Kendra tweeted me a video entitled Becoming More -- her story in mini-doc form created by Uninterrupted, LeBron James’ production company. I click play. Instantly, I’m captivated by Kendra’s appearance. Her facial features present as simultaneously male and female. She's both, but also neither. Kendra is truly her own unique form of humanity. But her appearance is quickly eclipsed by her strength and vulnerability -- and the compelling narrative that unfolds. I knew immediately this was a special person I wanted to know better. A fascinating story I wanted to help tell. And quite honestly, a subject matter of social importance and cultural relevance I wanted to better understand. So here we are. Kendra, I honor you for your courage in trusting me with this conversation, a privilege I don't take lightly. You can watch it all go down on YouTube (seeing Kendra helps contextualize the exchange). This one is special. May it be as enjoyable and enlightening as it was for me. Peace + Plants, Rich

#50 Chris / Kristin Beck - Navy SEAL Transitions To Woman Then Back To Man
Episode #50 is one of the most important interviews you'll ever hear. Chris Beck is a retired Navy Seal with 20 years service & 15 deployments under his belt. Even with his Bronze Star with Valor, Chris wasn't only known for his skills behind the trigger, but for his brilliance in technology and engineering. Chris pioneered the mission planning systems for all of SOCOM, revolutionized the future of warfare with the "Iron Man" Project, and contracted for the Pentagon with a $600 million dollar research and development budget. Despite all of his accomplishments, Chris was facing demons in private. TBIs, PTSD, and a traumatic childhood sent Chris down a path to find out who he truly was. Through trauma and misguided agendas, Chris transitioned to a woman and after years of being pulled into this ideology, ultimately started the long journey to transitioning back into the man he always was. This episode explores his journey through an abusive childhood, the trans agenda, and the nuance of sexuality & biology. Chris's fiance' Courtney joins us and explains how gender dysphoria can endanger and influence children and how society has reached a breakpoint with these issues. Stick around until the end of the episode to learn how Chris sparing a life in combat may have set the stage for him to save his own and how thousands of others will be.
