TLDR: Senator Tommy Tuberville discusses Washington deals and college football on the podcast, along with receiving a call from a listener for additional insights.
In this episode of the Dixon & Vining Show, hosts Brian Dawson and Jerick Wilkins engage with United States Senator and former college football coach Tommy Tuberville. They discuss pressing political issues, the status of college football, and Tuberville's visions for America's future.
Key Political Insights
Senator Tuberville emphasizes a variety of significant political topics:
- Domestic Challenges: He highlights serious problems facing the country, attributing many issues to long-standing political negligence and poor policies from previous administrations. He expresses concern about governmental inefficacy in addressing open border policies and their connection to national security threats.
- Call to Action: Tuberville urges unity among Republicans to support President Trump's appointments. He warns of the dangers of political infighting, stressing the importance of acting swiftly to reclaim American values and restore a constitutional republic.
- Republican Leadership and Accountability: He calls out members of his party who resist supporting Trump’s nominees, asserting that the Republican leadership must prioritize the interest of the American people over personal agendas.
The State of College Football
Transitioning into sports, Tuberville shares his perspective on the evolving landscape of college football:
- NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) Debate: He critiques the current NIL framework, calling it a "disaster" that has turned college sports into a minor league system, breaking the essence of what college athletics used to represent.
- Impacts on Players and Teams: Tuberville warns that financial competition is sidelining the core educational values of college sports. He notes that NIL deals may limit opportunities for walk-on athletes and fundamentally change team dynamics, where teams are now built by purchasing top players rather than developing talent.
- Future Solutions: He conveys his hopes for legislative actions to regulate the money flowing into college sports, advocating for a return to a more equitable structure where athletes can still receive substantial opportunities without losing their primary education focus.
Takeaways for Americans
- Political Engagement is Crucial: Tuberville stresses that the upcoming months are critical for the future of the U.S. He urges citizens to remain engaged and to support candidates who prioritize America’s core values.
- Understanding the Impacts of Policy on College Sports: The ongoing discussions about NIL and how it affects college athletes, team building, and educational integrity are vital to understanding the future of college sports.
- Advocacy for Regulation: A pressing need for regulations in college athletics to ensure it remains conducive to education and personal development.
Final Thoughts
Senator Tuberville’s insights resonate deeply with listeners concerned about both national and college-level issues. He encourages an active citizenry and a recommitment to foundational American principles as essential for navigating current challenges. The episode not only sheds light on key political maneuvers but also highlights how changes in policy can significantly impact future generations of athletes.

All right. Welcome back to the Dixon and binding show. This is Brian Dawson, C of 18, 19 news filling in big shoes to fill. But here we are doing our best to fill them. Brian Dawson joined by my co-host, Jerick Wilkins. And we are at the top of the hour. As promised, we are bringing on Alabama's favorite political representative, a United States Senator, or as I call him, coach Tuberville. So let's welcome him in now.
coach are you there? Good morning, Brian. Happy new year. All that. How you doing? Happy new year and all that. Yes, sir. Doing well, doing well. We've been up early on this microphone the whole time looking forward to this moment. So thank you for taking the time to join us a lot going on in the nation and in the nation's capital. All these terrorist attacks, obviously they feel like threats to what
What President Trump's trying to accomplish, and I don't think you guys are going to be thwarted by these evil acts? Well, thank you, Brian. We're in a interesting time in our country, and as I've told everybody, not just the United States, but the state of Alabama, we've got lots of problems. And they've been caused by politicians over the years, if kicked the can down the road,
And now for some reason, in the last, what, 12, the last 16 years, we've let radical politicians like Barack Obama and, and then, of course, Joe Biden and whoever's running the White House take this country over and pretty much just turn it upside down. Our country is just, we're kind of like out in the ocean with no life preserver, just kind of splashing, trying to make it to the bank without drowning. Our country has huge problems.
And again, it's all caused by either neglect or bad policies created in Washington DC, not the states. The states have done a pretty good job of trying to overcome a lot of those things. But let me tell you, the next six months, once President Trump takes office, we get his people confirmed. It's going to be one of the most important times in the country's history that has not really been in war, like the Civil War or World War II, or when Vietnam's been going on.
We have got to take care of our domestic problems. And we have them. You just saw what happened in New Orleans with open borders. And everybody says, well, this has nothing to do with open borders. Yes, it does. It's got all to do with it because we have huge problems with immigration that have leaked in that have taught a lot of these radical problems that we're having right now. And listen, I've got nothing against anybody. But you come to this country.
you go by our constitution you go by laws you don't threaten other people what happened at the night new Orleans and then you turn around you have thousands of people marching the streets of of new york saying death with america uh... you know uh... we're going to overtake this country uh... they gotta go they gotta go home wherever they're from uh... they gotta go to jail we've got to take our country back well it's going to be interesting to see uh...
A couple different things that are going to be necessary to have that happen. One, Trump has to get his appointments and I want to hear from you on that. But two, the people of America are going to have to have the stomach for when we begin to do what's necessary to actually see it through and not let the liberal media guilt them into stopping the removing of millions of people who are here that aren't supposed to be here. But on the Trump appointment situation, I know you're working very closely with the president on that.
Um, what are some updates on that? I know HEGSeth, it looked not great in the beginning. It seems like it's getting better. Tulsi Gabbard, RFK, some quote unquote controversial picks. Um, what are you seeing with that coach? It's going to be interesting. Uh, and we've got the votes. If we can get the rhinos in the Republican side of the Senate to vote for Pete Kedseth, Tulsi Gabbard, RFK Junior, uh, Cash Patel, Pam Bondi,
It just worries me. It worries me that we got people up there in the Republican side of our delegation that think they know better than President Trump. And as I tell them, I've told them to their face as a group or individually, the people of this country gave us a mandate to change what's been going on. And I said, y'all been doing it one way, and it hadn't been working. Now, let's get President Trump a chance with his staff and change this country back to a free
fair constitutional republic that believes in God, that believes in education, that believes in closed borders, and let's bring this country back together. But we've got four or five or six people now that I'm very, very concerned about. But you're talking to somebody right now that's getting ready to make huge headlines if they vote against these people, because I'm not going to put up with it. And I'm going to call them out. I don't care who they are. I don't care if they got Republican by their name. It is wrong.
President Trump should have his people. And if they don't do it, we need to do everything we can to get them out of office and soon as possible and get people in their care about this country. Man, you're here. Yeah. And so what, um, what I see happening with the Mike Johnson vote is, uh, interesting. And I wish that's what would happen. Yeah. There's a lot of people that are going to vote for Mike Johnson because they don't want to, but because Trump endorsed him, they're saying, okay, Trump had the mandate. We're going to do what Trump wants.
And, and they voted Mike Johnson in. I'm hoping that this is what ends up happening with the appointments. It's like, look, this might not be my favorite person, but Trump was handed a mandate and he wants these people in these positions to accomplish what, what, what, what the American people elected him to accomplish. Let's go. Exactly, Brian. I'm not a Mike Johnson fan. I'll tell you that. But I'm going to hear, here's the deal. President Trump knows if you don't have anybody's going to have a hard time getting elected speaker of the house with a few numbers they have.
You know, Mike Johnson came in and said, you put me in. I will not send the $60 billion Ukraine that the Democrats want. He gets elected and he did give him the $60 billion. So I like people to stand up for what they believe in. But President Trump knows in the house that he can work with Mike Johnson. Mike Johnson will basically do what he'll tell him to do. That's exactly what we need. It's the same thing with John Thune. I was not a John Thune fan.
He has not been a leader before. He is not, to me, not stood up and said the things in front of our caucus that needs to be said. But he got elected and President Trump is going to work with him. And we're going to hold him accountable. We have to have people that have understanding that they're going to have to stand up to this propaganda media that they're getting ready to have to face every day. And don't worry about, you know, getting their feelings hurt or whatever, got to stand up and say, listen,
whatever it takes to make this country strong again, I'm going to work with President Trump. So it's a new day. We're going to have new leadership. I finally saw John Thune say a few days ago, you know, for some reason he said it. Everybody has got to vote for President Trump's nominees. Well, you should have said that a month and a half ago and looked at all these rhinos and I and said, listen,
I don't care who you are. If you think you're going to be a chairman of a committee, fine. But you're not going to be if you don't vote for President Trump's nominees. I mean, the leader can do that. But you can't worry about hurting people's feelings right now, Brian. We can't do it. We can't waste the next six months of bickering and worrying about, oh, we're going to hurt somebody's feelings. They've been up for 30 years and we can't do it. We're not going to have enough time. We can't waste one day. When we start Monday, we better come out of the box.
and start swinging against these liberal socialists that want to change our country to something else, because they're going to try to prolong. They're going to play four corners basketball. They're going to say, we're just going to let them fight amongst themselves. We're just going to get on the side and vote against everything they want to do. And if we go along with that, the American people need to run our butts out of Washington, DC, all of us. And because we're not going to have the country that you and I have had the chance to grow up in. Amen.
Yeah, if we don't, this is it. God and his mercy gave us one last chance to do something and this is it. And I'm excited that you're representing the people of Alabama and that you're holding people's feet to the fire and that you are so trusted by the president because of that. So thank you for that. And then coach, I was going to see, we got to hit a commercial break. Can you hang around and maybe talk some college football on the other side?
Yeah, let's take and tell you anything you want. I hadn't done media in two weeks and I've been griting my teeth ready to make this thing go and I'm fixing it to ground running. I'm going back to DC tomorrow and we're
Confirming President Trump's election in the Senate on Monday and it's time to go. Yeah, it's awesome. All right. We will catch you guys on the other side. We're going to be talking to U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville about some, the state of college football. There's a lot of talk about that and we'll catch you on the other side of this break. All right. Welcome back to Talk 99.5. This is the Dixon and Vining Show. I'm Brian Dawson, CEO of 1890 News.
filling in, uh, jerk Wilkins, uh, joining me to do the co-hosting duties. But right now, uh, most importantly, we've got United States Senator Tommy Tuberville, or as I call him coach and we call him coach because, well, he's one of the greatest, uh, coaches in our state's history, um, at, at the university of Auburn. And it's that's, that's the subject I want to turn into now. And I know it's hard because I,
He like me. I'm, I'm, I'm clinching my teeth, getting ready for the fight that's coming up. And I know he is too, but the people do of Alabama do care a lot about college football. Uh, and this has been one of the craziest years. Neither of our major universities made it into the college football playoffs. A lot of conversation about how much the NIL is playing into what's happening to the SEC. Um, it's just kind of a crazy time in college football as it is in America. Coach, what are your thoughts on the state of college football?
Well, sports in general, first, I won't say something about men and women's sports, which is an absolute disaster in our country. And we're going to obviously recently talk to President Trump about that. And he's fixing to come out swinging along with a lot of other things. But that will tear our country down quicker than anything is destroying opportunities for women, young girls and getting in sports. But that being said, we can handle that. The thing we can't handle, and I've tried to work with and we tried to do legislation, this NIL,
disaster, which has happened. We've pretty much made college sports, minor league sports with all the money that's in it. Now, again, I'm offering kids making money because the universities are making millions of dollars in TV revenue now. And it's really changed in 10 years. For instance, Auburn has gone from, and Alabama has gone from around $15 to $20 million TV revenue.
air buying SEC to close to 70 to 100 million a year with the new contracts that they've signed. And so that money should have been shared, revenue sharing, but greed, greed set in, they wouldn't do it. And so lawsuits have caused that to happen to say, yep, you're giving some of this money to players. Well, it's gotten out of hand. There's no regulations or rules. So we've got to do something with that with all the other problems out there. I'm on, I've got a small group of mine.
staff in DC that works on it every day to try to come up with some kind of solution because if we stay down this road and don't put regulations with what's going on, then it's going to be a disaster. You're going to have the same teams. If you look at the rich teams of Texas and Ohio states and Notre Dame, those are the teams that are going
by the best players every year. And so it's not going to be a contest now. Alabama and Auburn are starting to be able to throw their two cents in there. But I mean, it's just going to be tough and it's going to be a donor fatigue of trying to raise 15, 20 million a year to buy these players to come to your university and this transfer portal where you can just, okay, I'm just, I'm going to go somewhere else and make a few more bucks and not ever get a degree. Education's never brought up in college sports.
anymore. And that's what they're supposed to be there for. So we're going to work at it. Brian, hopefully we can get some kind of resolution in the near future. And what do you think that does? Just I guess from the, as I'm sure, you know, getting wins and beating coach Saban is fun. But I think one of the things you probably love most about coaching is developing young men so that they can go out and be successful. Even if it's not in football, character, all of these things matter.
What do you think the NIL combined with the transfer portal is doing to these young men? Well, the first of all, it's taken away opportunities. Next year, for the first time, you will not have walk-ons. You will not have a young man or a young woman be able to come to university and say, I'm right on the edge of being really good in my sport. But I'm going to go to this university and work on education, but also work on my future maybe in sports. Well, you can't do that anymore.
You can't take walk-ons because there's money involved in that. And so now they're cutting way back on the number of participants in college sports. And if you just look at it, it's given a lot of kids opportunity. You don't build teams anymore in any sport. You buy teams. And you buy the best players. They just move around. You're eliminating probably 25, 30 percent of athletes that are going to have a chance, used to have a chance to play college sports. And to me,
College sports gives you an opportunity to learn, you know, time, organization, work ethic, learn how to win, learn how to take a loss, build back, work together as a teammate. We've just totally destroyed any of that because of money. And again, it's all, you go back and look at this NCAA for years. They said, well, we're not going to do it this way.
You know, we're afraid of a lawsuit. Well, lawsuits are here and has changed the dynamics of everything we're doing and just unfortunately is teaching the wrong things to young men and women. And we're going to eliminate a lot of sports because there's not going to be a lot of money go around for Olympic sports and a lot of non-revenue sports, mostly women. Yeah. No, in that lack of money, I think is the, I guess my last question for you.
uh... with what you do is a united states senator you have to go around the state raise money with what i do have to go around the state and raise money uh... we're talking to uh... the wealthiest people in the state uh... and they all are getting hit up like crazy by alabama and all burn for n i l stuff now which that was not the case anymore in alabama i can tell you compared to other states that i've raised large sums of money and we don't have
the donor base that a texas or some of these other states that have billionaires upon billionaires we don't have that here so it's it's gonna affect every aspect of life uh... if these donors that are given the charities and given in the good politicians and in other ministries and they're gonna start having to dump all their money into n i l i mean it's gonna have a a a wide sweeping impact on states that have high expectations for college football but also don't have uh... the level of money that some of these other states do
You know, I've talked, Brian, talked to coaches across the state that have been friends of mine for years. And what they're saying is what you do is, you know, in a three year period, you're going to take one year and you're going to try to get as much money as you possibly can, invest in a football team or a basketball team or a baseball team. And then, you know, and if you win that year, that'll help you survive another two or three years because you don't have that same money for the next two seasons. If you see what I'm saying, so it is
I mean, they've really had to change their strategy. But what gets me is, you know, the opportunities that college sports have given kids to participate and learn from that weren't on scholarship that might not have been as talented, but they would work at it for two or three years and then make themselves an athlete. Now you don't build that team, you buy that team. And that's not what this country was about, but it's just the direction
that sports are going like our country as a group. And you hate to compare it to politics, but politics is a lot the same. And so as our state, we're going to have to kind of come together and hopefully our teams of Auburn and Alabama and Troy and Jackson State and South, all these teams can survive and keep their name recognition by winning ever so often. As you just said, Alabama and Auburn had
some of the toughest years we've had in a long time. And, you know, we got to step back up next year and hopefully we have a better representation. But again, it's not because of building a team. It's for going out and buying a team. It just makes you sick at your stomach. And again, if you listen to Bruce Pearl other day, it's not about academics anymore. It's not about for the future and getting a degree. It's about playing and earning that money now other than
other than investing in the future in your education to make yourself a better life for the future well coach you got about a minute and a half left what i want to leave uh... this mass of audience here in bermingham with any uh... thoughts as we go into the inauguration uh... what what you hope to see between now and then and and and what we're gonna do to take this country back well the big thing is get present trunks team together uh... i've talked cash patel yesterday uh...
You know, I'm talking about, you know, the future of the FBI in our state in Alabama, the future of our education with Linda McMahon, you know, Secretary of Education, the future of our education, higher and lower Secretary of Education in Alabama itself. So we don't just look at the country, we've got to start looking at our state and how to make us stronger and compete with other states across the country.
uh... rfk jr i'm really thrilled about him about this crap poison we're putting in our foods all across the uh... you know the country everything we eat causing sicker and sicker folks that will change but we gotta get him in ever even heard i saw Lindsey grandma they said he's not going to go for robert kennedy jr what's he know about you know things that are in food or health all that you know just people just you know just and sometimes it's common sense doesn't sit in
now we've got to get people confirmed we've got to get a confirmed quick our first six months going to be the most important six months in my your lifetime for the future of this country so uh... we we have got all come together make this happen awesome go to real thank you so much for your time i'm joining us and thank you for what you're doing in d c for the people of alabama thanks coach and you too brine thanks for eighteen nineteen i've done a great job by the way thank you thank you sir
All right, we'll be back. You want me to start singing too here? No. All right. Welcome back. Talk 99 five. Dixon and mining show filling in doing our best to keep you guys informed, educated, entertained, engaged for four hours. It's a lot of hours to be behind the microphone. Um, I think, um, I think we're having some fun here. I had some great guests, uh, Stephanie Smith, the Alabama policy institute.
uh... and coach tuberville uh... coming in uh... too to update us on d c and s e c uh... it all things college football so glad to do that we've got a color on the line we got easy from huay town who wants to call in uh... follow up on that conversation easy thanks uh... thanks for calling in what you got yeah he got here hey i just want to say i heard uh... coach well go and he is spot on everything that he said
And we need to get rid of people like Collins, McCowski, whether or not they vote for the speaker today. You got an Instagram. These people need to be voted out anyway, whether or not they vote. They've been in there way too long. They've slowed things down over the years and, you know, established in the back, basically, us Republicans. And one more thing, and I got to go real quick here.
Uh, I hope coach Tupperville considers running in 2028 because I want to be his number one, his first supporter. Right on there. Running for president. Wow. I think he could do it. He could do it. There you go. JD Vance would be tough to beat, but if anybody could do it, it's going to be coach. Yeah. I mean, Trump came out of nowhere and, you know, ran and he won. Why can't Tupperville? I mean, he's not a true, what do you call a lifetime politician? He came out from
from coaching won't have it and and and and look what he's done look what look how he talked this man is all four america and make a pair of america grade again so have a good day thanks easy appreciate your call
I love hearing that man, just the people of Alabama calling in. And again, this is, so we started at six o'clock this morning and we talked about political representation for the people. And what does political representation for the people look like? And again, the people is made up of working class, small business owners, the people, okay? And when you have someone who comes and represents those people, their values,
The people love it. I've not ever been anywhere with Coach Tuberville when he goes up to a microphone where he doesn't get a two to five minute standing ovation.
no there's no question and i think that the people are just tired of these career politicians like like the Mitch McConnell's and Lindsey Graham's it's just not what we want we want real people that are going to be part of who we are uh... they can truly represent us and coach tuberville has done a phenomenal job of that and who knows i mean i i hadn't thought of uh... coach running for the for the white house but uh... i might be be able to get behind that one yeah he's like twenty twenty i'm like what's he talking about oh
So yeah, no, that would be a wild one. I do think in all reality, though, as much as I'd love to see Coach Tuberville as the president, I think JD Vance is the succession plan. I think that's the Magus succession plan, but you never know. I was very pleased with JD Vance and JD Vance plays into that strategy that we were talking about.
uh, that Rust Belt strategy of getting, um, getting the, the working class that was historically like, uh, union led working class Democrats, which is what we used to have in the South and they turned to Republicans. Okay. And it's not that they turned into Republicans. What happened is that the Republican party reached over into the working class and the Democrat party abandoned them.
Well, now you're seeing that same thing happening in the Rust Belt. What is the Rust Belt? You're talking a little bit of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania. Am I leaving any states out? Are the Rust Belt, does that cover them? You got Kentucky. Yeah. And so that area that's very heavily industrial coal mining, you know, kind of similar to Alabama with the pipe fitting and all of these different places that there's a strong union presence. You have people who have extremely conservative values
But they're voting Democrat because that was where they felt they were getting political representation through the unions and everything else. Well, now they've been abandoned by the Democrat party and they see it. And so now the Republican party is going to go out and grab them the same way that they did in the South. So they got the Bible belt and now they got the, the, the Rust belt. And that was the, that was the JD Vance play. JD Vance is literally only reason of being in politics so that he can go and give political representation of people, how he grew up.
That's okay. And so I think it's really cool to watch these things happening, these trends take place. I love the direction of our nation right now. Obviously, there's a lot of positive momentum, but just know that the regime is going to be there at every turn and at every corner trying to stop what it is that President Trump is doing, as well as all of these other incredible people that he's brought to the table.
There's no question about it. I was very happy in Milwaukee when they announced JD Vance. I didn't know much about him at that point, but I did go back and read his book, the Hillbilly LG after that, and it was just really refreshing to see him. I think one of my favorite quotes in that book, he said, whenever people ask me what I'd most like to change about the white working class, I say,
the feeling that our choices don't matter. And it's great to see someone that really does represent the average American who has achieved so much. And he's definitely very encouraging to see in the support he has for President Trump and look forward to the future of the Republican Party with him in it. Yeah. And something I think is really interesting is two things I want to cover with President Trump on this. Everyone says how racist he is. I'll tell you a story. I was I was at again Trump hotel where the fire was. This is back in.
January of 2017, he had just been like, he was, it was like this exact same time and as it is right now today, but back in 2017, um, he was the president elect and we were at Trump, uh, Trump hotel in Las Vegas. Uh, I was there with my boss and Wayne Allen route. You guys might know who he is. And we were sitting at a table and, uh, this Hispanic guy comes up to the table speaking very broken English, which is supposed to be the people that Donald Trump hates, right?
at this time specifically you know very you know the that he's racist against his panics he wants to send them all back yeah yeah yeah so this guy he comes to the he comes to uh... the table speaking fairly broken english uh... and he goes to serve us and my boss at the time asked him and said hey
How does it, how does it feel to work for the president and just kind of laugh, just making a joke about, you know, Trump being the president and the guy stops the Hispanic guy and he just goes in and he's like, you don't understand. He treats us so good. He knows me. He knows my kids names. He says, every person washing dishes and all the people working in the restaurant, he knows all of them. He says, we serve Melania and, you know, all the children, they come in here all the time and we serve them all the time. They love us and he literally started crying, talking about how good
or how well he is taking care of by the Trump family as probably one of the lowest employees on the Trump totem pole. And Donald Trump treats him exactly the same, even as a Hispanic man that speaks broken English and Trump's supposed to be so racist, right? That shattered that view. And again, I never really bought into it, but you know, we were getting propaganda is that he's this horrible racist. Well, here's this guy that's supposed to be peak. What he's supposed to hate with tears in his eyes, telling me what a wonderful man he is and how he takes care of him.
And you contrast that to the stories of how Obama treated the staff and so forth. Oh yeah. It was entirely different series. Yeah. And the other accusation against Trump is that he's a narcissist, ego maniac that's all about himself. What did he do in this election? He went and he got the best people and he created a team. It was literally like the Avengers. He went and started with JD Vance and then RFK and then Tulsi Gabbard and then Elon and then Vivek, whatever.
And just on down the line, he created a squadron. What are all of these people in this new squadron with the exception of RFK have in common? You can't even say that the one's a Democrat. No, because Tulsi Gabbard was as well. And so he's bringing, he's bringing, he's bringing people from the Democrat party over. He's bringing, he's, he's creating this positive vision
America first, make America healthy again, vision that everyone's jumping on board. But another thing is, is Donald Trump is a baby boomer. He's a boomer and boomers have a succession plan problem. They just do. It's a problem we have in our society. Boomers are not real good at handing, handing the reins over and training people to replace themselves. Every generation is going to have their challenges. The boomer generation, you know, statistically objectively looking at it.
struggles to have a succession plan. Well, look at what he's doing. Every single person with the exception of RFK that is on his, his, uh, his entourage of if there was an Avengers movie to be made with Donald Trump's people, they're all 40, like 40 to 55, mostly in their 40s. It's the next generation.
It is. And they're also, they're also free thinkers as well. It's when you look at the thought process from RFK, from Vivek, all of them, none of them are going to be just yes men. I think they fully support President Trump, but they're also going to give them their ideas and what they think. And that's what we've got to get back to. This country is great because we have thinkers and we can have discussions about how to fix problems, but we need to realize that there are more than two ways to skin a cat, as they say. And we need to talk through what's best for our country going
Absolutely. All right. Last segment coming up. This is the Dixon and Vining Show on Talk 99.5. We will be back with the final segment. All right. Last segment. I can see there from here. There's the finish line. Here's where we are. I can see there from here. Awesome. Landing the plane. Landings are important. It's a good thing too because I'm out of coffee.
Yes. Well, like I said, the IV is going over here as well. Timing is everything. That's right. It is, especially on a landing in a plane. Oh, well, here we go to land the plane. I want to talk a little bit about 18, 19 news and let Jerick talk a little bit about his book and where you can find us. So obviously you hear every day on Talk 995, you hear 18, 19 news. We are the official news partner of Talk 995.
Andrea Tice fills you guys in every hour at the top of the hour, 687P here on Talk 99.5. But you can find more. You're missing out if you're not subscribed to our newsletter. I can just tell you that flat out. You are missing out. You're missing big stories. You want to be tuned into what's going on. Go to 1819news.com. Click the button that says subscribe. We're not going to send it, sell your information to China. Okay. We're just going to send you the email newsletter. Um, and then if you'd like to support the work we're doing,
Uh, up at the same top of the, the, the website, 18, 19 news.com. There's a button that says become a member. Uh, if you're listening to this and you would like to send us more than that, we are a 501c three, not for profit. Uh, we run on the donations and support of, uh, the good people of this state. And if you'd like to make a more substantial donation, uh, it would encourage you to reach out to us. Uh, you can reach out to Linda Baker as our chief development officer, uh, L I N D A.
dot baker b a k e r at eighteen nineteen news dot com or just call us up or reach out to us uh... through the ways that you can on the website uh... and we'll get in touch uh... again we are citizens supported news it is you uh... who allows eighteen nineteen news to function uh... we have uh... our website where the content is we have uh... podcasts we have magazines we have all kinds of stuff but others that and then if you want to follow me on twitter it's uh... at
B-R-Y-A-N-18-19 at B-R-Y-A-N-Brian 18-19 on Twitter.
And that, yeah, that's it. Jared, tell us where we can find you. Tell us a little about your book and where we can find you. Yeah, absolutely. Well, first of all, I do want to just add that 1819 news is the real deal. It's a, they're making the investigative news that needs to be happening that's not happening in other sources. If you really want to know what's going on, I highly recommend 1819 news.
It's a great way to start off the morning is getting that update and then you can dive into the articles for more details. But if you like some of the stuff that I've said, if you want to learn more about some of my views, I wrote a book on congressional term limits last year called on shackling democracy. You can find that on Amazon or on the shacklingdemocracy.com or any of the
Barnes and Noble stores or anywhere else like that I encourage you to take a look at it if you want to listen to it in audio format So this is talk radio. So you might like it an audio you can actually download the audio version and you'd hear my beautiful wife Carol recorded that for us So I appreciate that and then I'm also on on the Twitter X And you can find me at simply gd Wilkins
So, I'm on Twitter at GD Wilkins. Love to engage further conversations. I think this is critical for us to have these conversations, to civilly discuss what's going on and bring the importance of the political sphere, our faith, and the business and all three of these intersect very, very carefully and very closely, and it's important for us to engage in those.
Absolutely. And another place, the podcast that I do once a week is any podcasting platform. If you just punch an 18, 19, it's going to come up. It's called 18, 19 news, the podcast. If you go to YouTube, you can just put in 18, 19 podcasts. You'll see a very small following on YouTube because we were unceremoniously removed. Can you believe that? I was kicked off of YouTube. Amazing.
So was kicked off of YouTube for saying things that are just understood as fact now, but any who got kicked off. So we're rebuilding our YouTube following rumble, Apple podcast, Spotify, all those other places you can find it, but 18, 19 news of the podcast. So got a few more minutes here. Any more just thoughts we talked a lot about state government.
We talked a lot about the rise of populism in the state and the nation. We talked about government efficiency and we talked to Coach Tuberville about what needs to happen to take our country back in D.C. What stood out to you most? What did you learn today, Jared?
Well, I can tell you appreciate you putting me on the spot with that. I definitely enjoyed the segment with Senator Tuberville. I will tell you, Senator Tuberville did help me when I wrote my book talk about the seniority system. And it's just nice to hear that there's a common view on a lot of the stuff, but there's no question that we are still in a
In a battle for for the heart of our country. We've got to make sure the conservatism stays front and center We've got to make sure that we stay fighting but the one thing that is we're finishing up that I would just encourage you guys stay engaged stay engaged in
in the conversation. Make sure that you're reaching out to our state and federal elected officials. Make sure that you're participating in these programs on X. That's a great thing. We have a platform for our voice now. We're not just dependent on the ABCs and the CBSs of the world anymore. We can make sure that our voices can be heard. We can support good quality news like 18-19 news.
And the podcast that Brian does is phenomenal. If you'd like to this, imagine the podcast is more in depth and so in so many factors. There's no commercial breaks in the middle of it, which is kind of nice too. And it's just great to see some of the guests that he has come into play on that. But I just encourage you guys to stay engaged because we do have the battle for our country.
All right. And we're going to finish with, uh, book recommendations. All right. January 2025. It's a new year, new you get your, you got your goals. Everybody wants to read more. It's on there, lose weight and read more. Uh, that is probably on both me and Jerry's list, lose weight and read more. Uh, and it's on most Americans list. Like that's one of those two common things is that, that people wish they would read more and people wish they would get healthier. Um, and so death of the West by Pat Buchanan,
We'll change your life and the White Horse King by Ben Markle will change your life. I'm not going to go into a summary of those. Just trust me. Just trust me. I wouldn't steer you wrong.
jerry what are a couple recommendations for books uh... for so so i'm going to give you a different one than what we normally see and this is actually from the business realm but it's relevant to everyday life for so many people is one of the best books i read last year uh... it was by christa boss called never split the difference uh... and it's about it it's a book about negotiating but it's more than that because he was and fb i hostage negotiator and some of the stories he tells really really relevant very interesting to life
But I would encourage you guys to take a look at that if you're looking for something that is not just business, but is actually fun and enjoyable book. And the other thing that I've seen, I added both of your book recommendations to my list for this year. But one of the other books I read last year that was really enjoyable, I enjoyed biographies. And I read And There Was Light by John Meacham, which was a more in depth look into President Lincoln and his early life. Interesting.
I'm
uh... steve thank you sir uh... but i do it i love it but so far uh... of all the radio i've done i think uh... steve is my favorite producer don't tell aj except he's probably listening hopefully the boss is listening yet they go
