Good morning, everyone. It is 7.04. It is going to be a gorgeous day today. We're looking at Thursday, January 30, 2025. And if you want some nice weather, it looks like we're going to get that. Some clouds around today, but not too bad. 70 degrees. We may see that temperature today. Tonight, rain will move in tomorrow morning. It will be wet early in the morning. It will be very wet. 90%.
chance of showers for Friday. High 67. Partly cloudy on Saturday high 66. Sunday going to be gorgeous. Lots of sunshine high of 70 degrees. And next week, Richard, we're going to see mid 70s, mid 70s. It's the dead of winter. I know.
And yet earlier this morning, you brought up the danger with that, which is tornado. I just said that very quietly to you, but it always makes me nervous. Sure. You develop a feel for these things. You walk outside and you get that. You're kind of like, oh, whoa, whoa, whoa. OK, today's the day. Let's hope that does not happen. At least not this early in the year. Usually we get into March or April before that sort of thing takes place.
They start early, maybe there's going to be a lot of them, you know? So I'd just as soon continue with this spring-like weather and just bleed that right into March, April, May. That would be great, uh, rather than, you know, going back into the deep freeze, which we may very well do. That happens in the state of Alabama far too often. Yes it does. Yes it does. Makes me very unhappy.
Yep, following this breaking news, it happened overnight last night, about eight o'clock hour time, nine o'clock DC time, a plane crashed with a helicopter. They're now saying, this just came out this morning, they are not expecting any survivors. That's 64 aboard the American Airline plane and three military service members on a Black Hawk helicopter.
Those two collided and again 27 bodies are saying recovered from the plane one from the helicopter They'll continue the search and rescue efforts this morning
uh... there's no rescue it's all recovery has just recovered i should say uh... very sad this is uh... you know as we just heard from one of our listeners who deals with their traffic control i guess works with them uh... you know that there had to be a number of things that went wrong uh... there is something called uh... avoid uh... collision avoidance there uh... it's a system that the f-a-a mandates be on every commercial airliner okay which means if you have a
another flight object in the air within a certain amount of feet of you, an alarm goes off. Right. And so you're supposed to be aware, hey, there's somebody around me. Now the helicopter most likely would not have that because they're military, but certainly the commercial jet would have had that. So in addition to air traffic control, maybe not being on the right channel,
I don't know if this thing was turned off or if the pilots just didn't know. Apparently the pilots were a couple of guys. They were well trained. They were not talking about a couple of young punks. You know, I mean, first off, just to get a job in commercial aviation flying a plane, the number of hours you have to put in is insane, even a lower level, okay? So these guys certainly had a lot of hours under their belt. They'd been in the pilot seat many, many times.
So, you know, it just, it was, it took a series of things to have happened going wrong for this to have taken place. And yet I still feel like there's going to be a big post mortem on this. There's going to be a gigantic, what can we do to fix this? And most likely there will be some changes in aviation to make sure that this does not happen again.
Sure, and as we go through the morning and overnight last night, getting some of the more details about what happened. But one of the things, there's a few things that are being said, A, that they moved this flight to a shorter runway as they were approaching the airport. They moved them from the longer runway to a shorter runway, runway 33 at Reagan National.
airport. There was also thought that the air traffic controllers tried to reach the pilot on the on the Black Hawk, and we don't know whether the Black Hawk got that information or not, but he was like, do you have a CRJ in sight?
Pass behind the CRJ, which is the plane. They're trying to tell them they've put them on a different runway You need to pass behind him and then apparently and again we'll get some more details as it comes out But the pilot may have banked hard to the right to try to avoid the helicopter at the very last second And it was too late and the two collided and as we're saying this morning it appears there are no survivors
Absolutely horrible situation will keep you up to date on it as things continue to unfold there as they are continuing their recovery operation over the Potomac. That is where this happened directly over the Potomac if you've ever flown in to Reagan National Airport as both of us all three of us have. You will actually get shockingly low over the Potomac. It's a little bit
disturbing. I think the second time I flew in was shortly after Captain Sully and the Hudson Landing. Yeah, that's amazing. And as we were coming through and work, I was like, is that? Oh, that's awfully close. Are we landing? Is this a water landing that we've always heard about? Is that what's going on here? Are the wheels touching the water? Because it's literally right there. I mean, they have to come. Pretty creepy. Yeah.
Flipses Furniture is at 1811 Crestwood Boulevard. You need furniture for your home. These are the guys that I trust to treat you right every step of the way. First off, they do not sell junk. I love that. It's not press board. It's not garbage. It's really top quality furniture with designer names like Joffron and Luke Leather and Catnapper and Crownmark. I mean, there's some really great stuff here. Elements.
They got it all, man. And when you go in there and you take a look at the furniture, then you take a look at the price, you're going to have the same thought. I have, I have, which is, how are they doing?
Don't know, don't care. It is designer furniture. It is at wholesale prices. They offer 12 months same as cash. That beautiful white glove delivery, which I adore. It's a local business, which is nice. You know, not some big nationwide chain. You're helping out local guys. And they're going to treat you so right every step of the way.
18,000, I'm sorry, 28,000 square photo showroom and then more in the basement. So stop by and ask him about it. Flipsesfurniture.com online. Flipsesfurniture.com, 1811 Crestwood Boulevard in beautiful Irondale. Steve Marshall was one of the guys who signed along with the 18 other attorneys general demanding that the wholesale chain Costco dismantle their DEI policies or explain why they are keeping them within 30 days.
uh... steve when you get a chance not now you're a busy guy and i don't think steve marshall wants a phone call of the seven eleven but if you could track him down a week of chat with a maybe early next week
about this and a few other things because i gotta tell you i i i don't understand this at all okay i agree costco doing d e i is stupid i i agree with that wholeheartedly it's a it's an extra added expense that they're passing on to valerie vining who thank you that's why those protein pretzels cost more money that's right she brought us the proteins that's twenty five cents for that bad oh my god at ten dollars ten dollars for that bad and all
10 bucks. Now you told me I didn't have to pay you back. I'm getting the feeling that I should give you. I'm just telling you those protein pretzels ain't cheap. Would you take a DEI lesson? No. Next day. Okay. I'm just trying to help. Keep your money. Keep your DEI. I am good over here.
But the thing that gets me is that Costco, however you feel about them doing DEI, 100% has the legal right to do it. This demand letter from attorneys, you're either going to tell us, you're either going to stop it or you're going to tell us why you're doing it.
If I were Costco, I would send a big photograph of a middle finger to every one of these attorneys general and go, I don't have to tell you squat. I'm a private business. I'm publicly owned. Yes. But you have no power over how or whether we do D E how we manage it. And I was thinking the same thing yesterday. I was like,
Do we really want attorneys, generals, telling all of these businesses how to run their business? However you feel about DEI, and we've already talked about it involving pilots and other things because of the breaking story today, but I just don't think that this is a space right that we jump into.
I don't like to go and dig in their hands with private businesses. Again, as much as you dislike DEI and the policies and everything that comes with it, why are we doing this? Why do we have attorneys generals that are digging into and picking, it feels like they're picking on Costco. I bet there's some other companies, are you going to keep writing some of these
letters to other companies that maybe haven't gotten rid of their DEI policies. Why are you going after policy? It still has a JP Morgan. Chase has it. They think it's good. The one thing I can tell you was that there was a conversation and they asked shareholders, should we do at least a little research on whether or not this stuff is good or bad and the 98% vote was no. We don't want any research on that and we're not going to throw this over. We think this is a good idea. So they got a lot of woke shareholders, I guess.
Most everybody else in this business has thrown over DEI because they realize it's a giant boondoggle. You know what this is? This is DEI is the Black Lives Matter of 2024-25. You know, we all got, we just dove in wholeheartedly just like in 2020 and 2021. We all dove into BLM. Oh, Black Lives Matter. And then you found out that
All that money was going into a series of very expensive houses for a few people at the top and not one person, not one black person's life was improved at all by that entire movement. Okay. There was a bunch of grifters that were basically taking money from the NBA, taking money from the NFL and they were playing
on the public sentiment because they were able to call up, you know, people like the commissioner of either of these two or Major League Baseball and go like, hey, what are you doing for Black Lives Matter? Are you going to, you know, do a little something, maybe throw some money and go, well, I'm not sure we need to. So I can go on, you know, national television and say the NFL doesn't believe in Black Lives Matter. Oh, no, no, no, let me, let me get my checkbook out and see if I can't write you a check. DEI kind of became the same thing. Oh, you don't believe in diversity, equity and inclusion.
The statement by the guy at Costco says, well, you know, I mean, this is great. Our effort at diversity equity inclusions remind and reinforce with everyone at our company the importance of creating opportunities for all. Here's your problem with that Costco boy. Costco boy.
Yeah. Equal opportunity is one thing. Right. Equity by its very definition is equality of outcome. Okay. That's a problem. That is a huge problem. That's where the E in DEI is way off. The idea that diversity automatically makes you better is ridiculous because sometimes diversity leads to nothing but arguing.
And inclusion, there's nothing wrong with inclusion. I'm all about inclusion. Everybody should be included unless you're going to be a thorn in my side, in which case you can go straight to help. That's why this whole DEI thing doesn't work. No. And somebody's making a lot of money because they come up with these DEI programs and
policies and then somebody has to implement it and make the videos and send it to the company. The companies have to buy the DEI practices and videos to show their company and their workers how this works. And again, somebody's profiting off of all of this.
And if you've seen some of these videos, some of time, it's a little head shaking, some of it. It really is. That's exactly right. That is very much why these things, because you've got these salespeople from these companies that build and create these things. And the government just canceled $480 million of DEI contracts with these companies that do this training.
You know, they make their living by putting together these ridiculous videos that research has now shown, does more to divide workplaces than to bring them together. You now have people who have worked together for years and years, know each other, hang out together, enjoy each other's company, and now they're looking at each other, a scance, and they're like, oh, I don't know, Pete said something the other day that was a little like what that guy in the video said, and I'm starting to think that maybe he, okay, well, all we've done now is cause problems.
So, and you know, here's the thing, if you don't have those problems.
then, well, the DEI is going to go away. So DEI almost is invested in creating those problems. That's right. You could say, you know what you need some more DEI. That's exactly right. Yeah. So that's why there's a dozen reasons why it's a bad idea. Costco hasn't gotten on board yet. They probably will eventually. All it's going to take really is their customers saying, eh, you know what, Sam's Club doesn't do DEI. I think I'll go there instead.
Hey, BJ's is open now. We don't, we, they don't do, you know, why don't we go over there? You know, even to the customer, it's like, you know, you're in there buying products and enjoying the shopping experience in Costco. What's going on behind the scenes with your employees? You know, if DEI is what you're, eventually I think it would fix, it's going to fix itself. I really do believe at some point Costco will realize, yeah, we probably need to go ahead and drop this.
But they need to do that on their time, right? You guys figure it out. If your company's running well and everything is good, fine. I'm gonna stop shopping because you're teaching DEI practices to your staff. How does that affect me? It doesn't really. It's not. That's y'all's issue.
I mean, I'm just a shopper. Now, if you start getting some of your employees coming down the aisle and preaching to me about DEI, all right, now we got an issue. I don't want to hear about that. Well, if it does drive up the cost of the protein pretzels, then you have an issue there as well. Right. It's an effect thing. Otherwise, do what you need to do to
hire good people and have a good work atmosphere, whatever that is. I don't agree with the DEI, but if that's what your company's doing, have at it. But for the most part, it's not going to affect what I do. Right. We good. Hey, we'll take a look at the three things that you need to know coming up next.
722, Dixon and Vining. Talked 99.5. Talked 99.5.com. Your calls, your text messages. We love that. 545.9950 and some pilots weighing in this morning on this crash that happened in DC. Get to know one of the nicest guys, Mark, who owns Bloomin' Blinds Birmingham and his family owned business.
They are so serious and they really are. One of the main things that Mark and I talked about, Mark is like, you know, it's important that every one of my customers is a hundred percent satisfied. He gets it. He understands that us talking about Bloom and Blinds and you guys having the experience and having a great experience, you're going to tell somebody and on and on and on. Motorized treatments, too. 6495746. That is their number. Wave to those beautiful vans. If you see them going down the road, nice people. They'll wave back. BlumenBlindsBurmingham.com. It's BlumenBlindsBurmingham.com. And now it's Dixon and Vining's top three things you need to know today.
All right, you've heard about the plane crash over the Potomac this morning. Actually, it happened last night. 27 bodies recovered, one from the helicopter as well, so that's 28 total.
out of the 67 that we know our victims of this horrible crash will keep you updated on that as time goes by. Donald Trump has moved to prepare Guantanamo Bay for 30,000 criminal illegal aliens. I love this idea. This is the so-called concentration camp the left said we're being set up.
He says, look, there are some guys so bad. Some of these illegal immigrants so bad. We don't want them in this country. And we don't want them in our jails. But if we send them back to their countries, we have no guarantees that those countries are going to hold on. And Venezuela, for instance, did, in fact, empty out their prisons and go, run. America's that way. Go, go, go. And sent them up here. And others did very much the same thing, mental institutions as well, as much as people are like, that didn't happen. Doing the research, folks, you're going to find it absolutely happened.
Here's the other thing too. You know, hopefully the word will get out to Venezuela and Guatemala and some of these other countries that think that they can just sashay on into our country. You may end up at Guantanamo Bay. Do you want to go there? Do you want to be in prison there? I think not. Look, there's a lot of, at a rumor mongering, I would guess you would say, or Scuttlebutt, whatever, that takes place in these countries. In other words, when Biden and Kamala opened up the border,
The word got out, and people that made it across the border started calling home and going, man, the thing is wide open, anybody can come through, they're not even stopping you, it's great, just come in, claim you are seeking asylum, they'll give you a phone, they'll give you a check, they'll send you away, sometimes they'll fly you to another point, and they called back home, and that person ran around and told everybody in Columbia or El Salvador or Honduras, wherever, oh my God, this is what's going on, and so they put together these big caravans.
that's happening in reverse now we're sending people back to these countries and they're telling others or you think about going to america don't bother let me tell you what happened to me and suddenly boy that that's big it just turned right off i mean that the border crossings plummeted in the first ten days
under President Donald Trump. Pretty impressive stuff. What else is happening out there? Shelby County standoff turned out to be quite gruesome at the end. You may have heard about this the other day in the narrows there, narrows housing project. It turns out that there were two adult males in the home. One was in his 40s. It was a guy by the name of William Chenoweth, a junior, 48 years old. He was only took a shot at deputies.
Right. They were trying to issue that. Standoff went on for quite some time. By the time they got inside, William Chenoweth, a junior was dead most likely by his own hand. And his father, William Chenoweth, senior, 74, dead in the bathtub, had been there for potentially months. That's so sad. Yeah. That's just really sad.
And I don't know if they had that information prior to that, hey, where's the father? That there could be an issue here. But can you imagine that? You have this standoff, shots fired, this guy, the son is dead in the house. And then you get in there, you're like, holy.
Molly, we got a deceased male in the bathtub, and you've got to know the body was decomposing. He'd been there a while. How awful. My guess would be that there was something involving checks, that this guy was getting a pretty consistent check.
His son didn't want those to end, so he didn't bother telling anybody. So you just leave your father in the bathtub bed? You'd be shocked at how often the fact. What the heck? Terrible. Oh my word. RFK Jr. had a bit of a tiff or several of them yesterday during his confirmation hearings, and he
He gave as good as he got. I got to tell you, RFK Jr. was in there swinging. He was. Maybe one of the best exchanges was when Elizabeth Warren lost her mind over the fact that RFK Jr. would not commit to not suing pharmaceutical companies.
Well, she's benefiting from pharmaceutical companies left and right. Millions of dollars. I mean, what kind of, and why would somebody say, oh, you can't sue pharmaceutical companies? Look, we sued the hell out of the people who made OxyContin, right? And Oxycodone, and we basically put that family entirely out of business, came up with settlements that were massive and huge, and yet somehow our FK Jr. is not allowed to do that when he looks at things that you go,
Well, this was actually pretty harmful, and I think you knew it was harmful. We found the evidence that you knew it was harmful. You put it on the market anyway and met a ton of money off of it. That's a problem, okay? I don't care whether it's a pharmaceutical company, a fast food company. I don't care who it is. If you're putting out a product that you know is harmful, a lawsuit should be in the offing.
Absolutely. Not unreasonable. Yeah, so he was smart, but yeah, it was kind of fun to watch her lose her mind yesterday. And bless, you know, here's the thing with his voice issues and everything. It made me, it was, it made me so angry yesterday because they knew that and then they would, you know, they would let him speak and he couldn't speak over them because of his voice. And I was like, you all are horrible human beings. They don't care.
No. If you have a well that you are drawing water from, Aqua Systems has yet to run across a well system that they can't improve the water on. Yours might be hard water, might be full of that limestone, maybe it's red from rust. There's any number of ways that you can have nasty water coming out of your well. Aqua Systems just asks you for the chance to come in and see if they can't clean it up a little bit. If they can, you're going to love the experience, man, and they've yet to run across one that they can't fix. Well water, Aqua Systems.
3, 8, 3, 3, 9, 9, online at Iwantgreatwater.com. I think Jim Stafford is still playing in Branson today. This song is over 50 years old. And in 1974 is what I think I could be wrong. We were singing it as kids when that came out. Didn't understand what it was about, but we had no idea. We were like, oh, that's fun. They're in the woods. That's right. That's right. Look, a frog.
Oh, gracious. You know, it's so funny because my son, who's going to be 19 in March, when he was younger, there were certain songs out and, you know, he's belting him out and I'm thinking, oh, good Lord, you know, if he only knew what that song was. And I know our parents are doing the same thing. We're just singing it at the top of our lungs.
Well, some of us never got any smarter, you know? I mean, I remember it one time. I was in my early 20s, I want to say, and I was with a young lady who actually said, do what you want to do. I went fishing, okay? That's how dull and out of sync I am with Rhea. I was like, oh, I want to go fishing.
Something tells me, something tells me, that this next guy may have asked Steve West to play this. Because it seems like it's right up his alley. Good morning, Chris. Now it may be, but no, he did not request this. He did not. I'm shocked. As soon as I heard it went straight to being a kid, that song and David so don't give up on us. Baby was on rotation.
Oh my gosh, fun times, fun times, Chris. Hey, well, we've got you all on the phone this morning to talk a little bit about money solutions. And when we talk about that, some people are like, man, I need some help. I've got some debt here. I don't know what to do. I want, you know, this is a new year, a new beginning with Trump and everything going on. Let's get going. And we
We can help them. You guys over at New Beginnings Mortgage Solutions know that there's money in mortgage, that money, that's power because you've got money in the mortgage that can get rid of the debt, right Chris? Absolutely. Yesterday we had one of your listeners actually go to the website and put some information in and one of the things that they wanted was that free mortgage checkup because once again there's no obligation, there's no cost. Let's just see, let's let us look to see if you've got
all this high interest credit card debt that you can't get rid of. Let's look at the solution and let's weigh it out. Is this something you want to do? Is it cash flow that you need right now? We know that rates eventually will start really going down to where we wanted to, but if you need cash right now, one of the smartest things you could possibly do is get all that, taking care of, get it, get your payment lower, get rid of that debt, and then down the road, if rates really start dropping,
You can do a no cash out refi where you're just lowering your rate and there's all kinds of options that you have right now. I think people are just waiting and waiting and waiting.
And they don't realize that there's money sitting there in their house right now that they can utilize to make life so much better. Man, you're not kidding, Chris. I'll give out the phone number and the website. You have a wonderful day and we'll get folks to call you and get this ball rolling. 989-7171, savewith995.com. Go see the website. Great looking staff. Chris has done a great job. They're ready to help you. New beginnings mortgage solutions, savewith995.com.
Tom 737 time to give away some Luke Brian tickets with a game we call name that Luke. This is kind of fun. Name that Luke. Yes. Here's what we're going to ask 5459950 is the text number. You're going to text us the answer to this. And because we got to complete yesterday, the most people who are listening on the app have no chance.
That's true. I apologize, Steve. It's going to be texture number 35. Oh, wow. 35 with the correct answer. People, think of me for a minute, would you? 35th correct answer. I've been keeping it in the single digits here for a while now. And trying to help the poor app people. Right. So the trick is if you're listening on the radio side, it's kind of an instant deal. Sure. And the app is a little bit delayed. It runs behind.
So the instant you hear the question and you know the answer, you text it if you're listening on the app. Text it, text it, text it, and you could very well be texture number 35 in that zone, which is good. So here's your question. Are you ready? Ready. This particular Luke is the nephew of Owen and the brother of Leia. Uh-huh. Uh-huh.
all right nephew of a yesterday we had the other that was close right and then we have the nephew of one and the brother of leah
What have you got? 5459950, drop us an answer and Steve is now going to get busy counting. And he's going to be mad at all. I won't do this, Steve. We'll make it number one tomorrow. How about that? Whoa, what is 35 today? 35 today? Hey, good housekeeping decided to do a little research on the best toilet paper.
Oh, this is always an argument in many households. It really is. They tested them based upon absorbency and strength. Okay. And they, for instance, they individually immersed five sheets of each type of toilet paper into water to measure the amount of fluid each sheet was capable of absorbing. Okay. And they tested it on strength.
Strengths important. Many different ways to evaluate toilet paper strength, including wet and dry tests. They use the Mullen burst tester to measure the force needed to burst through a stack of five sheets of toilet paper. Oh, this is good. Wouldn't you want this job? Absolutely. That sounds like it's right up my alley, man. What do you want to do? Exactly. What do you do for a living? Oh, I test toilet paper. Yeah.
So let's talk about these TPs as they go, coming in at number eight, bamboo toilet paper. You know, I bought some of this through the pandemic. Yeah. No one used it. That was a good reason for it. They were like bamboo. Yeah. It was terrible. Hello. It really was. Made from bamboo, which touts itself as tree-free, okay? Bamboo toilet paper from the who, what is this? From the who gives up
bleep, three ply instead of the usual two. And they were impressed by how soft it felt compared to the other sustainable teepees. Look, there's a reason it came in number nine. Yeah, it's bad folks. Don't, don't, don't go down that road. Alrighty. How about the 100% recycled bath tissue?
is number what number seven number seven number seven uh... and that is uh... seventh generation one hundred percent reason they're not recycling from other bath tissue are they because that would be weird oh no i don't tell me that i'm hoping that this is from other paper right that would create me out i don't even want to know if you're if you're doing that whatever company this is don't tell us please and number six ultra plush quilted northern
I was heard this is good. I have not used it, to be honest with you. But, you know, it's a pretty big package for $39.44. Toilet paper math is very hard. 32 mega rolls equals 128 regular rolls. Have you ever seen a regular roll of toilet paper lately? No, they're all. Every single one of them is huge. So you can forget about what qualifies as normal nowadays. Let's talk about the number of sheets you have here. But this was number six in terms of absorbency and strength.
uh... number five ultra comfort cottonnell cottonnell is a is a is a big seller i have used cottonnell it was okay
It made very little difference in my world. Coming in at a number four, Scott, small core, high capacity bath tissue. High capacity bath tissue. Everybody means that in their life. This stuff is supposedly double ply. I can tell you it doesn't seem that way. It is the thinnest damn toilet paper on the market.
It is frighteningly thin, even though it is two-ply. So you end up using more of it, but because there is so much, you literally can use twice as much. Right. And not feel bad about it. But again, the number of roles that you get here, I guess we're looking at 24 roles for $88. I don't think so. $88. I'll go without, thank you.
88 dollars, I'm sure. The Sears robot catalog is available. Charmin Altrasoft, ultra soft cushiony touch toilet paper coming in at number three. The 88 dollars, they need to invest in some kind of, I don't know what for their toilet today. They need the automatic hook to your toilet bidet. There you go.
This one, by the way, the Charmin, $28.99 for 12 rules. So even if you were to dull that for the 24 rules, you'd have a much better price than $88. Come on. All right, so number three is the Charmin, the Bears, right? The Bears. Number two, soft and strong premium, great value toilet paper. That's number two.
Yes. And I don't know if it's the same as what they sell at Sam's. A lot of people love that Sam's member's mark. That's what I bought. Yeah. And I'm very happy with it. I have zero problems with it. I will say I once stayed with a guy who had two kinds of toilet paper in the house. He had Scott and he had great value. Now I had never used great value in my life. We were we used a particular brand. I think it was angel software using it as I don't recall.
But so I was like, OK, well, I'm going to go for the Scott because great value. I mean, how good could great value be? I used the Scott until the role was out, then I went, well, that was terrible. Let's try this great value. Huge step up. Huge. I was like the great value Walmart bargain brand is better than Scott.
okay that was a lesson learned right there and the number one according to good housekeeping is bj's Berkeley Jensen ultra soft toilet paper bath tissue yeah i i want to say that's probably right in there with the members mark
Yeah, the members mark that's usually what we go with. I mean, it's that a, the price is really pretty good cost effective. Yes. And secondly, I mean, even to the point, my nephew came over from Atlanta one time. He's like, I don't know what kind of toilet paper this is, but I need this in my life. And apparently my sister can't use their, you know, depending upon whether you're on septic or sewer or some bad. Right.
uh... you know uh... tissue that you use uh... can can either big positive or negative dependent upon what you have and this is one of the things they checked with this bj's they said that uh... it disintegrated nicely in water so it was absolutely usable with the septic system and i assume the same is true of the members mark so i have no problems with it again i buy it in bulk one time when they were out
I bought at, I want to say Walmart, I bought the red, great value, which is the strong stuff, not the soft stuff, lasted a long time. That package lasted a long time, had no real complaints about it, but as soon as I found the members market went right back.
Yeah, the members mark is 45 rolls for $23. Not too shabby. 235 sheets a roll. Not. I don't know what's on the average number of sheets on a roll, but those are those are those are doing the toilet paper math. All right, Steve has gone to the phones and gotten us a winner. It's Donna in Hayden greetings. Donna, you're on talking with Dixon and Vining. How are you today?
morning i'm doing great you guys most excellent you mostly likely know the answer to our question he was the uh... this luke is the nephew of own and the brother of leah which look at my talking about donut
That would be Skywalker. That is correct. Congrats to the legends. You've just won yourself a pair of tickets to see Luke Bryan performing in Birmingham at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater coming up Saturday, July the 19th, with special guest George Burch, Avery Anna.
Drake, Milligan, and DJ Rock. We'll be giving away another pair tomorrow, and then tomorrow at 10am, these tickets go on sale. You want them before you could buy them from Dixitamining, from Talk 99.5 and from Spiegel, Chicago, Illinois, 609. How do you feel, Donna?
I feel great considering I've never seen any Star Wars movies. Oh, that was very good. You did a good job there. How's life under the rock? I heard Leia and I thought that there's only one Leia. How do you manage to go through your whole life with? Are you Amish by chance? Should you be using the phone?
No, I was all about grief when that came out. So that's a priority. We get that. We get it. Well, Donna, have a great time at the concert. It should be great. Luke is so much fun. And man, man, you're going to be there a while at night with all those guest artists. That's a beauty. So make sure to get the babysitter on the long term. Right. Maybe two sitters. Hold on if you would please, Donna.
Steve will get more info from you. We appreciate you calling and winning. Congratulations. Back in mere moments here with Dixon and Vining. Jimmy Bouffé. No. 750. Talked at an end five. Talked at an end five. Dot com. Little dated. He references Three Mile Island. You're like, really? I think kids listening to that today. What is Three Mile Island? I don't... Look at that kids. That's what I was always told.
How about, uh, back in the day, I think it was the year, yeah, it was the year 2000, the year 2000. I put my house on the market in another city and I did it in January because I heard that that was a good time to get your house on the market. It took six months to sell that house, six months, a little ticked off about that.
Well, my buddy Jack grandeur over at grandeur Thaggard auction marketing says, would you like to expedite that process? Would you like to get people to come to you cash in hand ready to bid against each other to buy your property, whether it be your home or a business, maybe just a piece of land, whatever it may be?
Granger Thaggart auctions can make that happen, can liquidate that piece of property and turn it into cold hard cash in your hand that you will give them to turn around and invest in this thriving economy that is about to take off like nobody's business. That is what Granger Thaggart auctions specializes in. Certain date of sale, certain date of closing.
buyer paying the closing costs and getting the absolute best market value. It is easy. It's fun. It happens faster. It's just an expedited system for you. And let me tell you, there's nothing like bringing a bunch of people together who want
your property and are willing to bid against each other for it.
And that is what they do at Granger, Wagner to auctions, gt auctions.com to find out more. No obligation conversation there with Jack Granger. Okay. There is a Lego storm used to be in the gallery. It did. Yeah. I had, I have been in there. They closed it down because they said too much gunfire and they said, let's, uh, don't know that that's what they said. They closed in 2020. So it may have had something to do with the pandemic. Anyway, they're opening now in Huntsville.
And we, of course, have sent our man on the scene. Steve, do we have our hook up here? Ladies and gentlemen, we have our man Fred gnarly if we can get him to come up on the on the system. This is a little all right. Are we ready? Here we go. Let's throw it to Fred gnarly up in Huntsville right now.
And gnarly here at Huntsville in what will soon be the only Lego store in Alabama. There's a lot of construction going on. Let's talk to one of the workers. Excuse me, sir. Is it the Lego store coming to an already existing building? Uh, yeah. But they wanted a completely new interior and exterior. And we gotta use only Lego blocks. Don't bump, Charlie!
incredible thousands maybe millions of Lego blocks are pouring onto the ground okay boys let's get to white the workers are now clicking together Lego blocks to cover the walls both inside and outside sir what is the most difficult part of your job the loose blocks we wear heavy boots but nothing can stop the pain of a stepped-on Lego
I see that. How long, how old? How old will it take to go? I'll complete the construction out here with us professionals. I'll say, oh, about three years. But I've arranged this amount. Teenagers to come help. And they, oh, oh, should have it all finished by, oh, next Wednesday. And we can keep them out off their phones. Ow, ow. This is Fred Marley taking, oh, taking you back to room. Oh, Dixon and Vining. Oh, oh.
Oh, there is nothing more painful. Yeah, middle of the night stocking feet just walking along and suddenly. Yeah. Yeah. One of the most painful things you'll ever experience. And congratulations Huntsville for getting that Lego store. Enjoy. I kind of hate that it's not at the gallery any longer, but it is what it is. We shall move on. You know, I don't know. I take my grandson out shopping every now and then sort of a tradition of ours when I go
visit him we we take a swing by walmart and see if there's not something in the toy section that he would like and i've seen the lego section and it's it's all these kits now it's like here's how you make this here's how you make that okay i get it there are some people who you know they need to have that to make it work
When we were growing up, you know what? You got a big box of Legos. And it was like, build whatever the hell you want, kids. You build, well, you want to build a building with wheels on it, knock yourself, because they have little wheels. Remember that? How difficult it was to find the little two. I got this too.
on this one instead of four or six. I got to have the two because I got to fill in this little space over here. Our imaginations were allowed to run well. To me, it's the difference between giving a kid a coloring book and going color these pictures in. We're giving a kid a blank piece of paper and saying,
Draw whatever you want, you know. Make something of that. I'm a little more interested in the buying piece of paper. Absolutely. And what somebody is going to come up with there. So, you know, whatever, hey, look, if you're into the Lego thing and you like building those, knock yourself out, don't let my opinion, my very, very low opinion of it, change anything. And then Lincoln, the Lincoln logs me were a lot of fun too. I didn't know how to construct that. I did not have Lincoln logs. I had Lee logs. Lee. Yeah.
You could build quarters with those. I don't know what kind of smaller windowless shacks is all you could build with the Lea logs. 756, disgraced ex New Jersey Senator Gold by Bob Menendez has now asked to delay his prison study was sentenced yesterday to 11 years. And he said, listen, I'm I'm appealing the bribery conviction. And the judge said, you're not as appealing as you think.
And he said, you know, I need to get out from under this thing, 11 years in prison. I don't think that we have surpassed the fairly high bar of selling influence or doing favors or bribery like the prosecution. Thanks. And the judge said, well, the jury disagreed with you.
So, they're going to go back and see if, you know, he can't, but he may have to start his prison sentence or he may get a little stay here until such time as the appeal takes place. This is, by the way.
On a smaller level, exactly what Joe Biden has accused of, which is taking money in exchange for power and influence. At the very least, the promise of a favor somewhere down the line. At the very least, the suggestion that, yes, I will help you. I'll get you access. Hillary Clinton was doing this with the Clinton Foundation. People were, you know, pouring money in the Clinton Foundation in order to get access to the Secretary of State, bend her ear, and maybe get some favors out of that.
This is not how government is supposed to run. And Bob Menendez has been doing this for a really long time. He managed to slip the news the first time. I guess that emboldened him, and the next thing you know, he was sewing gold bars into his suits. That was unbelievable. Where are those gold bars, by the way? I think they're evidence. I think they're in an evidence locker somewhere. That's a shame, isn't it? Because they're worth a lot. Yeah, yeah. A lot of gold there.
really bizarre to me that this is a guy. By the way, you might remember, he was also involved in flying to a private island with a Florida dentist where it was rumored that they were taking part in sexual escapades with underage women. It was not Epstein's Island. It was apparently a completely different island. That was something that he got out from under in the past as well. So it's been one allegation after another after another. And by the way,
New Jersey keeps sending the guy back. So, you know, they obviously are like, hey, it's Josie. What do you want? You know, this is where we're riddled with crime. We got, you know, a bunch more. Put them behind bars and shut the door. Yeah. Had his own wife testified against him, by the way. Right. It's pretty bad. Pretty brutal. Mm-hmm. She's like, so if he goes to jail, who gets the gold bars? Uh-huh. It's me? Okay. Let me give you chapter and verse how all this went down. Yeah.
