Wednesday is movie day, it's time to visit with Bill Bregoli and find the latest in things cinematic. How are things, Bill? Things are pretty good. It was a quiet weekend at the box office, but some pictures made money. Flight risk was number one. That's the one with Mark Wahlberg at an airplane, a small airplane. Oh, yes. It was Mel's first directorial chores in Saxar Ridge back in 2016. And it made $12 million, which was good news.
for uh... lion's gate because they had a number one opening with denop thieves a few weeks ago or and uh... they needed the money so well that's good and more yeah step ahead of them yeah i mean picture didn't do particularly well with critics and it did okay with audiences but uh... yeah twelve million dollars was enough for number one this weekend and move fasa
The Lion King, in its sixth weekend, made $8.7 million. It's now made over $221 million, and that's the one that got off to a slow start, but it's done well. Number three was the comedy, one of them days. That was in its second weekend, and that made $8 million. It's now made over $25, and that's about what it cost to make, so it's all gravy from here. Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
which has been around for six weeks. That made $5.5 million. It's now made over $226 million altogether. And Moana 2 rounded up to top five, and it's ninth weekend. So some of these pictures have been around a while, and they're still in the top five. Well, there's not much coming along to replace them, is there? No, not quite yet. But we've got some things. We do have stuff. There always is. We actually have an action warm, what we call Ballyan one.
not a big name cast chase stokes lana condor it's coming out in theaters and uh... takes place is uh... uh... you with some u.s. soldiers uh... end up crashing the helicopter on the wrong side of the north korean south korean border yes that's not good yeah that's not good and they have to work together to protect us uh... civilian tech specialist and find their way out what out the help of the u.s. military cousin i'll have to go in there
So, uh, that's in theaters. It's called Valiant One. Hmm. Then we have an animated movie with the voice of Pete Davidson from, um, from Saturday Night Live. And it's called Dog Man. Dog Man. Dog Man. He's half dog and half man. Oh boy. You actually see an operating room scene. Again, it's animated so it's not gross, but somebody says, what if we saw the dog's head onto the man's body?
Well, yeah, so it's that kind of movie. And when before the dog and the man are actually united, they're working in a police car, the man's the cop and the dogs his canine companion. And instead of using a regular siren, he just has the dog howl. That sounds cute. Yeah, so that's in Taylor's dog man.
Uh, then on Amazon Prime, we've got a movie with, uh, two definite, uh, comedy veterans, Will Farrow and Reese Witherspoon. Wow. Sure. Yeah. It's called, you're cordially invited. And what happens is two weddings are double booked at the same venue and, uh, being a present day kind of, uh, wedding movie, you know, it's a destination wedding. Everybody's all together and they got two different families involved.
And the father of one bride and the sister of the outer bride tried to keep the weekend going, but of course they lock horns. So you get to see them. Oh, great. Reese Witherspoon. Yeah. I was in the head. I actually went to a wedding for a colleague that worked at WBZ with me for many, many years ago. And it was out of place where there were more than one wedding going on at the same time. And it turns out that
Nobody told the wbz people to go upstairs and so And I don't know if you remember the name mike Maclin he was a reporter But he he and his date and me and my wife were Downstairs at the bar hanging out paying for drinks when upstairs was free So we want up straightening it out and it turns out some people put cards in the wrong bowl and stuff like that That movie reminds me of that
Yeah, that's the other thing. I worked at a country club where we could have two winnings at the same time when there's one downstairs. Yeah, eventually whoever had the open bar had more people at their wedding. Oh, yes. Yeah. So we got that. You're cordially invited. And then we've got a documentary coming out in theaters called Liza, a truly terrific and absolutely true story. And yes, it's about Liza Manelli. And it's got
archival footage plus modern interviews with peter alan road or no Barrett member doesn't name from the power goodness. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Me a pharaoh. So it's a tribute to her. And all her relationships and they were interesting. So again, Liza are truly terrific. Absolutely true story. Then we have an odd movie with Sophie Thatcher. She's in the
Showtime series Yellow Jackets and this movie's called companion and it's about well it takes place during a billionaire's after a billionaire's death when a bunch of people come together in a cabin. And one other guy brings along his date and turns out she's actually a sex bot. Oh yeah and he uses her to commit crimes. Well though. Sometimes that happens. That's a dark one. Yep, called companion.
Then we've got a movie in select theaters called Green and Gold, and it's got two very veteran character actors, Craig T. Nelson and Emmet Walsh, in fact, this was his last movie before it passed away. And it's about this struggling family farmer, and he owes somebody money, and the guy he owes money to says, look, we'll place a bet on this football game, and if you win, I'll wait another year before I get the money.
That's nice. Oh, yeah. Meanwhile, that money could really go to his granddaughter who is a struggling musician. So it was actually all shot in Wisconsin and Dore County. And they used a lot of the locals as extras. So that gives them a nice little. Yeah, there's a big theater up there in the summertime. So I'm sure they probably were as easy for them to recruit extras. Yeah. So
There's that, there's Lucas World on Netflix and that's in Spanish. I think there have been similar movies with a similar plot. It's about this woman who's determined to help her son. He has cerebral palsy. So she takes her family to India for an experimental treatment. That's on Netflix. Yeah, it could be interesting. Who has a movie called Take Cover?
And it's about this burned-out professional sniper. I'm sure there are more movies about snipers than there are snipers in the world. Yeah, like I said, yeah. And this guy finds himself trapped in an all-glass penthouse. All glass, okay. I don't know. Yeah. People who live in all the penthouses. Well, snipers who live in glass houses. That's right. That's what it is. And you have to find a way to survive and escape. Ah, so take cover. That's on Hulu.
Amazon has a movie called breach and That's one of the the later Bruce Willis movies where he shows up for a few minutes and gets top billing and There's about a guy in the cusp of fatherhood. He's a junior mechanic aboard this interstellar arc to what they're calling new earth new earth and You have to outwit this malevolent cosmic terror whatever that is

A movie, an Oscar-nominated movie called a body horror kind of movie called The Substance, which earned Demimora a Best Actress nomination. It kind of grows. It's really strange and different. And you want to check it out without having to go to a theater. You can see it this week on DVD. Well, something to do. That's right. There's plenty out there. Yeah, and we'll look forward to some good stuff next week. All right.
