because central banks have lost faith in the dollar. And in these uncertain times, gold is the ultimate safe haven. If you too are worried about the dollar, I urge you to take similar action by diversifying your IRA or 401k into gold with my trusted friends at Birch Gold Group.

We mentioned President-elect Trump's nominees have to be confirmed by the Senate, but there is a potential way around that. Good morning and welcome to the Monday edition of Buyers and Company. We'll check in with Kevin Rehaney, the mayor of Decatur, Mark Topper and Topper on Sports, Dr. Juanita Morris and more. Company starts now. Buyers and Company W. S. O. Y. 13 40 a.m. 103.3 FM.
Good morning and welcome. We are back here on a rainy Monday morning and the start of week is almost every Monday seems to go. Just another chaos right here. It shouldn't be allowed to rain on Monday and we ought to be able to go on the air on Monday. This is to be like rules. It's Monday. I mean, everybody has to start their week, right? When it was going to start in a hole.
It's Monday. Is that what just because it's Monday? Yeah, you know, it's somebody's Friday. Really Bob said in land, man. Yeah, Monday's will be good to go. Well, just doesn't make any sense at all to be. Well, here we are. And we're ready. And we've got a lot to get to exciting weekend all the way around since we last visited with you on Friday morning. I can't wait.
What's tomorrow is the big day. We hand out all the money for the food drive. Very excited about all of this and looking forward to it. We're going to be at St. Teresa High School and handing out a lot of checks. It's fun. You know, Scott called the big checks are ready. You know, those are the fun ones. The other one's cash, but those are the fun ones. Thanks to Scott. Yeah. I mean, it's pretty cool to be able to hand those to the schools that have won the food drive. Yeah. And usually there's a lot of students at those events. It's a happy day.
No doubt about it. And looking forward to it. We got a great deal to get to before then though. It feels like there are weekends where it feels like you leave on a Friday morning and you come back on a Monday morning and eight gazillion things have happened. It just feels like that kind of weekend to me starting with the Netflix disaster on Friday night.
We'll get into the... Look, I don't even know if the fight was terrible. I didn't go back and watch it when it was watchable. I tried to get in ahead of the main fight and...
I don't know, 10, 11 tries. And then it just kept buffering out. And I got to see some of the fight between the two women who were the final fight on the undercard before the Tyson Paul fight. Well, I just it was miserable. I mean, it was a horrible experience. I do not understand.
somebody or a company as large as Netflix who's trying to get into this realm. And God knows the money that was spent and involved in that. How many people were there in Dallas or Fort Worth or wherever it is? The stadium is evidently Jerry Jones, you know, couldn't be heard. It was a mess. There was a holy field. His earplugs didn't work, so he couldn't hear the questions. That's if you could get in to see it.
Well, I got in at seven o'clock when the broadcast started and I think I deserve to be able to stay in the whole night because I saw the first hour and a half without an issue.
And then everybody started trying to get in at eight thirty quarter tonight. It was. And they get knocked off. No, no, you got in. You were not. Most people did not get in right off and stay in for a long time. And it was a nightmare night. It was fine from when nobody was watching started on time. I just read that it was nothing but delays. No, I mean, but once the broadcast went, I mean, you were in until it started on time. Did it. I was there.
I started like 7 17. It started on time. You were in. You were in because I got kicked off. I was in all the way until it got busy. So think of it like a restaurant. You can come in and pick up your food right now. But in an hour and a half, you're never getting your food. I mean, that's what it was like. OK, well, if that's the case, the restaurant closes down. I mean, after a while, you can't serve that up. Yeah. But I think once you're in, you should be able to stay. I was not in. But if you're one of the early ones that make any difference,
He's saying it on like on merit. He's not saying that's how it was. There was nothing on Friday night that was on merit. You know how I ended up getting it on my iPad? Okay. I went through myself because it was cable that couldn't handle the servers. I guess. Wait, it's probably their servers, but it had to do with the cable because I got it. I only buffered maybe once on on my my Verizon.
through my iPad. My guess and this is simply a guess is the way that the internet routes together, the major providers Comcast in our area, everybody here, 90% of us were going through Comcast at the exact same time. And and thus we all were kind of the load was too much individually all over all over the world. Less people were trying to do it on their cell phone. So you had a little less
had a little more opportunity to get through, which is I had, and here's the worst part, it exasperated for everybody because we all tried every device, every TV, every, every gaming system, everything throughout the houses. And we tried instead of 250 million, we had a billion tries going on at once. They weren't ready. They said 60 million was the number that I saw over the weekend. So, you know, if you're
extrapolation is right. And 60 million people are trying to get in, you know, on several different things. First and foremost, you didn't have the product that was worth all of that effort. You know, the product that was maybe I felt like anecdotal. Maybe I felt like, Oh, the old times in Tyson and I'll check in to see the product wasn't something people were willing to do that for two and a half hours. Well, I mean, was it wasn't the Super Bowl? No, it was a Doug with hindsight. No, I mean, but even with promise,
It wasn't all about that. Well, people that don't follow this. I mean, it pretty well went as you were told on WSOI 1340 in the morning show, how it was going to play out. But I only know that anecdotally. I don't know that because I watched it. But the pre-sell of it, I totally get. I was at a wing place waiting. I didn't get home till I was at the wing place for an hour waiting on my food.
And almost universally, all the door dash drivers, all the people waiting, everybody checking that you're going to make me late for the fight. I'm going to miss the fight. I mean, it was the, it was worth every drop of the pre-hype. Again, I knew what I was pre-hiping to post-hype. I see why people are let down. You know, it was a live event and they had some live event problems. Like one of the earphones didn't work on, on, of Andrew Holyfield and, and, uh,
She didn't know where they were supposed to go on a video that was going to play about Tyson. And you can hear her saying, where are we going? Where are we going? And this is a major league production that I thought came off at best. It was a C production as opposed to an A production. This is how they're going to repair this. Come January, their next big large thing that comes every week is going to be the WWE.
the thing that's going to happen here that's going to save them and they're going to be able to go out and sell this to well known actually in between. They've got the NFL on Christmas. But come January, the WWE is basically going to say, take your cord and plug it into our thing. We've got it all.
all produced. Everything is going to be ready to roll. You're just, you just need to talk about in house. There is no in house with WWE. They're just handling it all. No, I'm saying you're talking about sort of the logistics of the broadcast production quality. Yeah. So all that stuff Kevin's talking about won't happen. No, but if you still can't stream it, it won't matter. Right. And it'll be a disaster for them as well. That's right. They have tried this on a couple of occasions.
one was last year at the Las Vegas Grand Prix when they had the golf event with the PGA golfers and the F1 drivers and they had similar issues on something that was tiny in comparison to Friday night. They are not ready for prime time and they have signed
up for prime time. But that's because of streaming, right? No, I mean, you know, I'm screaming Kansas City Chiefs Buffalo Bills game yesterday. Their infrastructure, their scale. It's not your streaming in general. It's it's there.
They don't have something to balance the load to spread it out. That's it. This maybe in football, there's not the load because all these. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. This had a huge fund. 60 million people, they've done pay per view for years with large numbers. The Super Bowl gets that many people. But it's paid for a review of a streaming mechanism. Everything is streaming in your home if it's on an app.
I always thought pay per view was more like a network when you run your cable. But it depends on where you're watching it. If you watch it through cable, like you can watch these fights through your cable and has nothing to do streaming. But
same thing with the Super Bowl. You can watch it on, um, where it's, you know, ABC or NBC or whoever's carrying it, but you can also watch it on the ABC app. And so the, the load, you're both kind of right on this streaming has been available and it has been happening for a long time and they need to get it better. There won't be 60 million people trying to watch the Christmas games. So it'll be less
gives them an opportunity to be able to maybe be able to handle it. But Brian's right, they are not ready for this. They're not ready to take it to a level of work to compete with the networks. And that's crazy in 2024, almost 2025 that they're not able to compete with the networks and networks. Everyone, everything's dead.
every show you watch on Paramount, you know, or Netflix or whatever app that you use Disney or there's, you know, a gazillion of them. Yeah, there's not 60 million people trying to watch the lioness last night, but if there were or you had these efforts, why in the world would you continue to pay for it? I mean, you wouldn't. There's my question. How does Netflix lose on this? It wasn't like pay-per-view where I had to pay for it to watch. I've already gotten Netflix. I've already paid for it for all my other things.
So Netflix, well, they lose in their sponsors, their advertisers, the people who wanted to deliver the product with the thing. And then they deliver for the people who just maybe, I'm sure if you're 60 million people trying to tune in, there were people that signed up for Netflix, you know, just to see that thing Friday night. And you think they're sticking around? Or does Netflix have any obligation to pay?
to credit that back. You would think. But what does a credit back look like? We all know what that looks like. What about the sponsors? What if you paid a gazillion dollars to be one of those sponsors and all these people didn't get to see the event?
Look, I don't know what the deal is or the contract that looks like between advertisers and the broadcaster. But the thing is, it's not even if they don't have to give anything back or claw anything back. They still got to go out and try to sell this the next time to the next people and their track record is, I can't deliver this. Well, I'm not going to watch it the next time. I don't know what that was. That was four hours wasted. What do you not going to watch the next time?
uh... if this guy uh... jake paul fights is to promote some of the fact that he's already uh... he's already calling out kind of or grager at that would be the end of that what do you mean
going cross discipline against an MMA fighter, who's also older, retired. He could put him in a chokehold, not call it a day. Okay. I mean, it'd be, it won't even be close. I just, I'm ready now to watch this guy. If I'm going to watch this guy fight people's own age, you know, how long can you do this? I'm going to fight all these retired guys and consider myself a professional, whatever. He just, he said he wants Canelo. Canelo was a top five fighter in the world. That will be
That'd be worth seeing. Well, they need to put it on HBO or something. They need to talk to a new network. This is interesting. I just got a text from a listener. Netflix stock falls after boxing fight hit by the glitches.
Why investors are worried? Well, I mean, think about just showing up to a regular sales meeting calling on your customers, you know, today. Hey, we're here to, you know, talk about the fall and programming for next fall. Hey, what happened this weekend? Boy, that was bad. And then if it's like our place to go, what worked out? Well, you know,
You're living your learn. No, they've lived and learned enough. They're not ready to spend the money and they need to bring in experts to take care of the infrastructure that they have to because I was you and I, you know, talked about this. Mark Topper talked about this. I was ready.
and willing to watch. It wouldn't have normally been my thing, but they had this lead-up show, you know, two, three episodes of kind of a documentary style thing. I watched it. I said, OK, I'll give this shot. Nick was exactly right about what was going to happen in the fight. But I think the old people said, oh, you never know. You know, man it in. Mike has knocked his clock off, you know, whatever.
And so I'm willing to give you that thing, but I'm not willing to do what I had to do, you know, at 9.30, 9.45, 10 o'clock, the effort it took just to sort of get in the room to be in the conversation to see it.
It just, it isn't worth it to me. And so, you- Well, you're a tractor agitator every time you don't get on. Well, that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. It was the thing they had to convince me to watch, to begin with, and then when they convinced me to watch it, they couldn't deliver it. So it's a recipe for disaster, and yeah, it was a huge embarrassment for now.
I'm sure their shares are down. I can't imagine anyone go, okay, the future of sports. And you're right, there will be 60 million people trying to watch a Christmas game. But I don't know what that threshold is for them. Is it 20 million? Is it 30 million? I mean, where can they not perform? Yeah, I don't really couldn't do it Friday. No. And the product, the after the fact product, like with hindsight,
wasn't what everybody thought they were signing up for. You know, non, I'll tell you what, every boxing pay-per-view, I haven't had anybody to really talk to about it since like Conor McGregor or maybe Pacquiao or something.
there were like 50 people trying to talk to me about boxing. I'm like, this isn't even boxing. And so now people leave and they go, this is what I thought it was going to be on any level whatsoever. And it's like, man, I don't know. Yeah, I don't know what Netflix can do about the quality of what happened in the ring. I mean, you know, I mean, when you stack it, when you put all those things together, it was like, I can't get in. I get in. And when I get in, it's not worth watching. You know, we say all this, but I on Sunday watched
two different on Netflix shows, you know, one on Quincy Jones, the other one on Clyde Davis. So I'm not anti-Netflix. It just made me mad on Friday night. Well, look, they drew more eyeballs on Friday night than they ever have. And they couldn't perform. And the product wasn't there for most people who were trying to get in to see it. And if you could get in to see it, it was not ready for prime time. You know, the production values, the people that were doing it, it was just it.
just felt like that golf thing in Vegas last year, although I didn't have any problems streaming it. It's when I got to it. It was like, where's the quality? I mean, and I think about the NFL. What are they going to do for a Christmas game? Is it going to be this sea level kind of stuff? They haven't announced. I don't think who they've partnered with, what team is doing what? Right. So I mean, we're right around the corner. Yeah, they can't. They're going to have to farm it out. They're going to have to.
I don't know if you saw this much, but when they interviewed Mike Tyson, I didn't see any of it. I didn't see any of it. In the locker room? Yeah. This is crazy. It was cool. So you were still there after all this annoyance or just before the fight? Oh, yeah. This is before my technological advancement. I was able to get on it. I don't even know what that means. I got on with my iPad. OK. I didn't give up. Genius. So anyway, they stream something through an app on your iPad.
Why in the world didn't anyone think of that? Well, the same amount of people thought of that, that did it on their television. I wouldn't have been helping get on, but I was one of those smart few. OK, do you think, first of all, 90% of the crowd, 30 and under,
don't have cable. So they were getting on through other devices to begin with. Yeah. My son couldn't get on through his phone. Yeah. I had my phone on my Xbox.
And then I had a third TV and we watched most of the night on the third TV moved over and I had them the other two going and it would depend on which one was buffering and which one wasn't. And then once it finally went, it was pretty stable. I thought it was stable too. It was watching the undercard fight and then it cut out and I couldn't get back in and I got back in and then it cut out again and then I just gave up. That's the moment everybody decided, oh, I'll tune in now. I'm just like the stands. You know what, that's fine.
I understand what was going through Mike Tyson's head other than the fact that he thought the camera is only going to show he and his son's two shot. But his son did the interview in the locker room with Mike Tyson right before the fight. They show him showing up. They show him sitting down and then they show him right before the fight. Mike Tyson does a nice interview with his son. Tell they love each other and he looked a little concerned. It turns around, walks away. He's got no pants.
Yeah. That's I don't think it's true. He had a jock on. Well, he has pads on, but his cheeks were all shown. Yeah. Why wouldn't you slip on a pair of shorts? I don't know. That's your takeaway from the fight Friday night. That was the most bizarre part of the fight in a locker room. See somebody's butt cheeks. It's actually pretty calm. The cameraman pan down to him. Yeah. I was almost like it. I think it was a skit. I think he was doing that. There was a bit. Yeah, I think so. He was in his Speedo's at the non way in way in on
for hands out on this. Yeah, I saw. So you thought it was for for community. I think so. Yeah, because the camera pan pan down to it did like the zoom like they do on the office. Like, well, there's that. I think you did it to be funny. I suppose so. I mean, heck of a time to.
That's your take away from the fight. It wasn't the most bizarre part of it. I think that was the most bizarre part. That's probably the most bizarre. People couldn't watch the damn thing in the pre locker room interview, but 60 million people could have been watching and you're walking around with your shirts off. I just
And I like Mike Tyson. I bet on Mike Tyson. I was one of those old guys. You bet on it. You put money on it. I always put money on fun things. And I thought he might get a couple punches in. I didn't realize. I didn't know much. You didn't get a couple punches. I didn't know much about Jake Paul until that night. And then I realized that this guy did.
He can box. Yeah, he's great. He gets retired fighters and non-accomplished guys. Mm-hmm. That's all spoken to me. Here's the thing.
Bottom line, and you have to ask yourself this, if you're Netflix, if you're Jake Paul, I think. Is this sustainable, you know, first and foremost, this fighting old guys, you know, like, I think everybody because of the name Mike Tyson and what Mike Tyson once was and the legend of Mike Tyson, this thing worked perfectly to convince a whole lot of people to tune in or try to tune in.
on Friday night. I don't know if there's another name out there that does that like Mike Tyson. He gets a canelo. There will be more people watch. Okay. And that's that would be closer to box. That'd be real boxing. Okay. Maybe he's the biggest draw on the world. If they do it on Netflix again, I don't know. I really don't know that you sold me an iffy product that you got me to buy in and then you made it impossible for me to watch. I mean, it's a fail on every side of everything.
And I didn't think Mike Tyson would win. I hoped that Mike Tyson might win as the old guy rooting for the old guy. But that was about it. All of this other stuff, I don't care. If you make it, I get too many choices, too many things I can entertain myself with than giving me frustration or trying to let me take 20, 30 minutes to find your product to be able to get to you. And then even when I get to you kicking me out and buffering and the buffering and the suffering, that was the headline Saturday morning.
What about this? They pick out whatever pairing of, of interest that gets the hype again Saturday night. You've learned your lesson. You're a smart guy, but you, you still kind of curious about it. Are you now not building your night around it? But hey, I'll, I'll turn over there at 10 o'clock. And if it goes, it goes, if it doesn't just Jake Paul thing though, probably not. Cause it feels fake to me. All of it feels fake. I don't know that the fight was set up and not even act like anything. What is he on on ice? Yeah.
as he should have probably after he after the first two rounds which were pretty good rounds of fighting I think he realized at that point it's all mine now so I'm not going to kill this guy
I think you got some of that right. The part is it's all mine as long as I don't walk in there and catch an uppercut. All I got to do is get the points and stay away. Right. If that's the strategy about feeling bad, then you're not in the ring with a 58 year old guy. I think it was a feeling bad. I think he would have stand if he could have knocked Mike Tyson out. It's way better for him for that to have happened.
That is a way to say you knocked out the baddest man on the planet and I'll knock you out to I'll knock out anybody. Okay. Maybe. I don't know. I think there are a lot of. This is way more time than this thing deserves. It was disaster. It was in the last 10 seconds of the last round. He did stop boxing and start bowing to Mike Tyson. Yes. So don't care.
Do not care. Oh, I mean, the fight was over. I mean, that's why he put his gloves. It's like I'm up. I'm up six rounds to do and knocked them down. He wasn't a bit over. He didn't. Tyson know what he was doing. Disaster. Just disaster. It was a dub. And I didn't think everybody wants to talk about how great the women's boxing was. And it was OK. It was interesting, but it wasn't like watching prize fight boxing. I don't know what prize fight boxing means.
They weren't fighting. I only saw a little bit of a little fight. They were fighting incredibly hard. The rest of it was Joe. And it turned out to be a controversial fight before that was solid to help boxing at all. I mean, it was great to get all these viewers. But now I'm trying to wrap this segment up. We're still wondering if boxing's legitimate. OK.
I'm not wondering if boxing is legitimate. I'm wondering if Netflix is legitimate today. That wasn't boxing. You think that was boxing on Friday night? I mean, like legit, like real time. Well, you don't tune in for something that could have been set up. You're hoping it was going to be
legitimate when I don't think I'm talking about there's not a 27 year old versus a 58 year old that is legitimate anything. So you think it was the fix was in. No, I'm saying it's not boxing. It's not. This isn't professional boxing.
The whole thing was a, was a carnival show. I mean, all of it was. And that was set up. And I think most people knew that going in, but that was not watching a boxing match. I didn't know that going in. I thought, you thought that 58 year old Tyson was going to really try to, to, to show the guy that he could still box. You're saying you're mixing up what I'm saying. I'm not saying legitimate means fixed. I'm saying that wasn't legitimate boxing. No, it wasn't. I mean, it was an extra mission. It was, it wasn't a,
It was a way for Paul to get. He's a media hound. I mean, he's an expert at promoting himself and it'll work then. But you know, Tyson was a legitimate champion in boxing. Yeah, 30 years ago. Yeah. Yeah. Hasn't been in the ring in 20 years.
And that was not at all a surprise. Nick predicted it. I mean, I literally predicted the whole fight last week. I watch enough of it. I'm saying you gave me the preview, gave me the run up. You gave me the documentary style thing about why I should care about Jake Paul or why I should care about Mike Tyson and where they are in their life. You gave me everything except the thing that you sold me as the thing, which was the fight and it was too damn hard to get to. That's for sure. But I. OK, that's it.
Kevin, there are clocks. One more point. OK, I'll give you another attempt at a point. I didn't tune in to think I was going to watch something like professional wrestling. And that's what Nick's used to watch. No, I tuned in to watch a fight. What kind of fight did you think you were going to get for the record? I watched more boxing than probably anybody you know. Regular boxing. What kind of fight did you think you were going to get from a 58 year old fighter?
a chance he could do just when Nick said. Yeah, but the chance of the 95% chances were that he wasn't going to do that. Well, everybody knew that, but there was a chance. Yeah, 40 bucks. So you did pay per view of the fight. All right, we've got to take a break. When we get back here, we had a lot to get to over the weekend. I think he was bad that the Chiefs got beat last night. We'll get into that. Oh, yeah. What is the? Oh, you're so dramatic today. Well, the Chiefs of my team.
Yeah, like a beat. I know I watched every minute that I didn't have any streaming problems at all. Oh, watch it on my iPad. Just fine. All right, we'll take a break back with more right after this.

I like both versions, but the original is still the best. George Foreman, by the way, Kevin brought up during the break, won the belt at the age of 45 and then immediately gave it up because he wouldn't fight the next fight it took to sort of keep that belt. And that was considered dangerous by most people who were commentating at the time. Everybody who was like me thought maybe Tyson in the first two rounds could connect this with this guy and put him away.
outside of that, you knew it was over. And we watched him, they kept talking about his legs. I mean, his legs weren't that big. I'm done now with the Jake Paul, Mike Tyson fight. All of a saying, you know, I didn't. I brought up George Foreman. Oh, with the age of 45 was considered to be ancient. That 58. 45. Well, you kept saying, what do you expect? What do you expect? He's 58 years old. I expected him to nail him in the first two rounds. Okay, well, he didn't.
They nailed all of us. They nailed all of us. Oh, yeah, they did. But I didn't lose any money. I already paid me a Netflix. You lost 40 bucks. Well, that was a bad way to say you lost money. I'm just saying. It's happy to pay.
Okay. That's what happens when you lose a bet. No, I'm saying you got sucked into that thing that the old guys did myself included. Yeah, I'd like to root for that. But I don't, it wasn't anything that important to me that I had to try for 45 minutes to find. And then even if you could find it, the quality of the product wasn't great. All I'm saying is Netflix, if they're going to get into this business, they've been very smart in a lot of ways about how they're getting into sports.
uh... and giving me the stuff that i want to see if they're going to build interest they gotta do they have to be able to deliver the product that's the biggest takeaway of the night for me by the way you can go to netflix and if you want to actually watch a documentary film that was literally academy award winner in nineteen ninety six it is now available brand new when we were kings which was about that Muhammad Ali george form and fight in africa that may be the most entertaining two hours you'll spend all week about
the hype that actually lived up to be a fight that will be talked about for a hundred years. Yeah, there's still no one.
like Muhammad Ali. He could promote his fights and then he could deliver. Yeah, but there's so much behind the scenes with that. I watched this documentary years ago and it's been kind of on a shelf and hard to find, meaning unless you had like a Blu Ray or DVD and it's been re-released on Netflix. It is fantastic.
And all of the personalities that were around for that thing, literally Norman Mailer and George Plimpton, Spike Lee, and I mean, just one after another, after another, how long they were there and how Ali turned an entire country. I mean, a country against George Foreman. And neither one of them had any connection, but it was just the master genius. But then the fight outlived all the hype.
No, that was not it. They were in Africa. It was the rumble in the jungle. The Manila was in Philippines. This one was the rope. That one. That was the rope. And it was.
George Foreman was the biggest, baddest, meanest dude. Everybody remembers him from the grill commercials and all that stuff. They don't remember what he was like back in the 1960s, early 70s to mid 70s, where he was just this just imposing mean, horrible, awful guy who would just kill you. And Ali, just like he was losing that fight round after round after round. I saw Foreman on Letterman talking about that fight.
And he was asking about Muhammad Ali. By that time, they were friends. They weren't back then. And he said, yeah, he says, he did that rope-a-dope thing. And he says, somewhere around the fifth or sixth round, I hit him. And he says, that, oh, you got George?
That all you got. And I'm thinking to myself, yeah, that is all I've got. I'm in trouble. And he, he, he lost that fight. They did a whole black woodstock music festival in Zaire with James Brown and BB King and the spinners and all this stuff. This huge spectacle is captured in this like Academy Award winning documentary that's now available for the first time. I can remember in a long time, at least accessible. And you probably won't have any time or have a hard time streaming it on Netflix.
Muhammad Ali was brutal on his opponents before the fight. Yes, he was. It did the same thing. The foreman and the day foreman died. He did. That was that was that was foreman. We were. I mean, Frasier. Frasier never did like Ali even to the day he died. And he gave Ali his big break when he came when he made his comeback after the Vietnam trial. And he talked
to Frazier, talked him into letting him fight. He was the champion. Yeah, I think Frazier even lent him money back then, and they got the fight. He turned him into being some type of Uncle Tom, which he never forgave.
All right. The interesting thing about this documentary is it was done by a guy by the name of Leon Gast. It took him 22 years to edit and finance and finally get this documentary to the public and then it won an Academy Award in 1996 and it's largely been unavailable for a very long time. It's now on Netflix. If you want for free, no line, no problem streaming, no buffering issues,
Brilliant. I mean, you talk about hype and and and all of the stuff way before Jake Paul or Mike Tyson, you know, it was around and then a fight that actually delivered on the hype. It is an incredible documentary. You should check it out. All right. I decided last week out of just pure. I need to root for somebody in the NFL.
I don't have a team. I thought you were going to lions. I'm going with the lions and I'm going with the bills. I told Nick last week I am. I want both of those cities and those states either way. They get to the Super Bowl one or the other is going to get a redemption and finally get to take home a Super Bowl trophy. You know Buffalo goes to the Super Bowl four years in a row and lose all four Super Bowls. Detroit's never been. So if those two teams meet up, not great for the NFL as far as
you know, like having New York versus Los Angeles or the big, big, big names or even Kansas City, but somebody is going to finally take home a Super Bowl trophy. Why would you not want to root for that story? So I'm watching last night with the chiefs in the bills game at fourth and two play by the quarterback for the bills. Josh Allen, that's an unbelievable play. He broke the back of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey and the Kansas chief with that play last night. And they, it was done. They started a game though.
had they stopped that they stopped the bills on that play. I think my homes would come back and won the game for him. But it was over after that. What a play. He would have to come back and not throw an interception like he did driving down. I don't know. Oh, well, I mean, that was those were almost Hail Mary plays. But he would have the first one. He would have much more. Can't say chiefs look all too human this year. And yes, they have come back. I think
out of their wins. Seven of them had been like fourth quarter comebacks, you know, so they have found a way to win. Buffalo looks unbelievable to me, or at least like they can answer. Now I hope this wasn't too early of a win, like that they then meet again and lose in dramatic fashion. The playoffs, you can't ever write the Chiefs off, but the Chiefs look human this year, unlike what they've looked the last couple of years. They are human, but they've still only have one loss. Josh Allen,
to run. I mean, and he showed it. Certainly do more than run. Oh, yeah. Most quarterbacks cannot run like him. Or will they let him? But they turned them loose yesterday. It was a good game. And I don't know how those two always manage like you think like just occasionally you'd show up and have a stinker, right? Like just occasionally. But it's always seems like it comes down to last possession game with those two teams. You can almost count. I like put money in the bank. It's going to be an exciting game.
Then there was the Bears game. Awful. I mean, we see two teams before we get to the Bears though, the Detroit Lions put a Smackdown. I mean, like, of epic proportions, record proportions yesterday, meaning that the team they beat by the most they've ever been. I mean, like historical loss. They look unbelievable in the NFC side of things and the Bears against the Packers.
That coach doesn't lose his job. Maybe it's not now. Maybe it's the end of the year. But when you decide to let the clock go down in three seconds, when you could have gotten more yardage to get the kick closer, I don't know. There's nothing I understand about what that guy does. Yeah, that was a frustrating game to watch, especially for the bare fans. I mean, they were just happy to score a touchdown. I mean, they could have had a win. I know. They lost in the last.
No, but it wasn't. But the coach let the clock run all the way down. They could have played a couple of more plays if they were strategic to get that closer for that kicker, right? Am I wrong about that? Well, the kick got tipped. It got blocked, but they were 47 yards out and he let the clock run down 10, 13 seconds. They could have had a couple of more plays to try to get the ball close. And you change the angle of the kick enough to kick as low. You could go a little bit higher. I don't understand that at all. Just mismanagement. That's it.
My, my team didn't play football. Sorry. No, what happened? I just laid a goose egg. I've never seen them play that, but well, not as a good team. They played like a bad team. They not like, oh, we had an off day. It was like, that's not good football. I couldn't even watch out by the fourth quarter. I was, I was just listening a little bit.
That's not normal for me. No, it's not. All right. Congratulations also to the line. I who had a win over Michigan State to improve their record. That was exciting. And I'm outside an emerald four-side one as far as high school playoffs are concerned. So they're both still alive. I listened to the line I game on WSOI. Well, thank you. That's fun to listen to. Brian Barnhart and his crew are so much fun to listen to. I agree. I had a choice. I could have watched it on TV.
But I said, no, I think I'll go out and do a little exercise and listen to WSL. What'd you do for exercise? I just walked the dog. That's what Mike Tyson did, getting ready for that.
He's got more money and I see does. He's got a lot. He's got a lot more as a Friday night. So anyway, we'll get you the I don't know the broadcast details for this weekend for the Murrow game or the Mount Zion game, but we will know that probably later on this morning when we figure out where everyone's going and what we're broadcasting on what station we will.
let you know for sure. So it's all the way around. Pretty good deal. The cup run it over on our TV viewing despite the Netflix snafus. There's unbelievable amount of stuff to watch right now. We'll get into some of that when we get back here. But literally, I just once again, I don't know how a platform at that level can can fail that miserably and then stay in this. We'll see what's the next test Christmas. Yeah, Christmas games. Yeah.
Um, can I give you a two second awesome sports in the settlement with the NBA inside the NBA? I was moving to ESPN and ABC. Their T&T is still going to produce it. It's intact as whole. They would be so stupid to mess with that to stay with the other networks. Yeah. So the whole crew, which is to me better than actually watching the NBA.
will move over to to the ESPN properties from T&T. And that's I think they're filming it and got everybody's jobs. And they're like, I didn't know that was even a thing, right? Because most people thought it was just going to break up and kind of go home. We talked. We hope this was what would happen. Yeah, you're right. I saw that over the weekend. I thought of you. I thought that would be exciting. But we'll check it out. So did you watch Fox Sports? So the pregame show? I don't know where it's wrong.
Oh, it's hilarious. I think some of it rocks terrible. Well, he wasn't yesterday. He was good yesterday. But they made fun of him because he was at that fight and they were interviewing him and then it went into a buffering and they made a big deal off and Grog's everywhere. He was even at the Tyson fight and then they start showing his interview and then the buffering went up.
And everybody to desk just left. I understand those commercials he's doing with Sam Allie. They're the most awkward things I've ever seen in my entire life. Intentionally, that's what they're going for. How does that make me, like, if I'm a veteran, apply for a loan? What's the sales pitch there? And how does a gecko make you? No, I'm sure. Well, no, I mean, the lizards kind of fun. It's just awkward. A lot of people find drunk fun, though. I mean, they like that cringe humor that he does. OK.
No more awkward than Mike Tyson walking around with no pain. I felt like it was done by like a local PBS station. It's just terrible. I mean, it's like Sam Elliott, who's one of my favorite actors of all time. Maybe you can always put your 40 bucks on Sam Elliott. Those commercials just make you cringe. I guess that's the point. I don't know why. I don't know what that how that sells, what they're selling, but interesting stuff.
Okay, when we get back on the other side of the break, we'll wrap things up with Kevin here. As I said, tomorrow, big day, we'll be handing out all the awards for the food drive. Most importantly, the big checks to all of the food banks and people will keep you posted on all that. Absolutely is. All right, we'll be back with more Nick's got your three day forecast. Stay tuned.

That's funny. Warren's person be driving turkeys out of a helicopter. We have the most mixed up. No one can agree. Mystical stories about the WKRP episode that happened and whether or not it happened in real life and
what's the connection to Decatur, Illinois, and there is a thousand stories out there, none of which I've been able to
narrow down is absolutely true or absolutely false. I thought we solved it last time this time. No, we did. But there's still, there's people who go, no, this started in Texas and they were throwing him off the back of a truck. And what I do know that the connection to Decatur is that there is an audio clip from the convention of the broadcasters. I don't know if it was the
It wasn't the Illinois broadcasters. It was the national broadcasters where Steve Bellinger who owned the station here, but said that he was in Wisconsin and they attached $100 bills to the legs of life turkeys and dropped it from an airplane over thousands of listeners. So there's audio of him telling the story from the stage, but there's conflicting reports about what actually happened and what the genesis was about the WKRP episode. The guy who
created WKRP was a sales guy in Atlanta who the Herb Tarlet characters sort of like and he brought all these anecdotal stories to sort of create this TV show which is great and really captured radio. Some of it's still around today believe it or not. But we don't know for sure which of these things happened or didn't happen or where they drew the actual
And the comedy was is they did it because they thought the turkeys could fly. Yes. What are they going to do in Warrensburg? Well, yeah, they're doing like a contest where you can buy a turkey, right? I just said rubber, rubber turkeys buy it. It's probably a target or something. Yeah, they're going to be like one of those.
That's cute. They do that with cows occasionally. It's not frozen. No, no, it's it's rubber turkeys or whatever. They might be not like your doctor be with a turkey. Yeah. A vertical, a vertical doctor, baby. No water. But yes, just driving it. Anyway, I heard the spot and when it text me last week about it. But yeah, there's so the connection here locally is that there was a guy here who owned the radio stations that owned other stations supposedly happened in Wisconsin.
But there's also a story that something similar happened in Atlanta. There's also a story that something similar happened in Texas off the back of a truck, not out of a plane or helicopter. I was just one turkey. No, it was more than one. Yeah, supposedly.
All right. Nick, I'm going to be in trouble today because my watch did not charge for whatever reason overnight. And this clock in here is way off. Here you go. We're at 2930. OK.
